Reviews for The New Beehive Inn

Review 1:Arrived about 7pm to a warm cosy fire in the traditional edwardian bar. Spent a few hours having a lovely time playing pool and drinking a lovely selection of beers they had on, before retiring to our room. Lovely clean comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff. We felt it was good value for money and will stay there again when in the area.

Review 2:Unfortunately, the (long-term?) guests next door to our room were very loud and having arguments until late at night. The smell of smoke was also prominent from the corridor which made our room smell musty. Due to the door banging and raised voices throughout the night, it was difficult to feel comfortable and get to sleep. This was our only issue from an otherwise pleasant stay.

Review 3:We were welcomed immediately by friendly and helpful staff. We were offered a choice of rooms which was nice, and the room was clean and adequate for our needs, exactly what you would expect for pub accommodation. The decor was dated and tired, but there was a kettle, flat screen t.v and en suite bathroom. The room and location was absolutely fine for a quick stop over but not ideal for families.

Review 4:Staff were all friendly, atmosphere is brilliant the fact I can just go down some stairs and have some real ale with traditional gas lit lighting. Room was clean and warm as well

Review 5:Woke at three in the morning to use toilet and it wouldn't flush.

Review 6:Good location, friendly staff.Inform them the night before if you desire breakfast. Which was a very nice cooked breakfast, with plenty of tea and coffee very enjoyable.

Review 7:the bar filled up with what looked like aggressive homeless people, I'm guessing they get to stay there payed by the tax payer, I left for work 6 am and had to climb over people that had been sleeping in the hall ways.

Review 8:big old tashioned rooms cosey bar ,until a certain time .

Review 9:N/A

Review 10:Convenient location, only a short walk from Forster Square or the Interchange and the City centre. Very friendly and helpful staff. Traditional, 'heritage' style decor (right down to gaslights in the bar). Reasonable price.

Review 11:Cigarette smell. It oozed from the walls. I guess 100 years of smoking has left its mark. You get used to it, but it's so unusual these days.

Review 12:The interior is magnificent, a time capsule masterpiece. Photos cannot do it justice. It's worth a visit just to experience it. Had WiFi although 4G is excellent.

Review 13:The room and stairway were in need of redecoration....the plumbing made a nose everytime someone used it...it woke me in the morning

Review 14:The owner stayed up to welcome me - even though I was very late due to delayed trans. The actual pub looked great ...but I had no time to exerience it.

Review 15:Vertical window blinds difficult to operate. Close one half and other half opened. Close that half and first half opened again. The best you could manage was having bath halves half closed (or half open depending on your philosophical outlook). Would not be light tight anyway as one slat had come adrift and was hanging onto the floor. Room layout could be improved -as it is the door to the bathroom meets the bed making getting in and out difficult. Sufficient space to improve layout here.

Review 16:Helpful and Friendly Staff, Period furniture complimenting age of property. Not too far out of the city centre -served by good bus service. Quirky room naming based on cloth industry -my room was "warping", the next one was "weaving" etc. Handy being above pub. Good local beer.

Review 17:None; just a rather lost lady asking for more than I'd give. The area, not the pub or her, really.

Review 18:The articulate, quirky, handsome landlord, his pleasant, intelligent manager. The gaslight.

Review 19:it is an old building, the rooms were located on the top floor of a bar and it is in a remote part of Bradford. Did not feel appropriate for a girl to stay there alone. Also the room was very cold.

Review 20:The staff was ok and the room and toilet were clean.

Review 21:Little dated in places. Slight issue with room but owner sorted immediately

Review 22:Location and friendly staff, free wifi. Lovely pub downstairs.good shower. Secure and free parking. Comfortable beds

Review 23:The room was quite cold, but apart from sleeping we didn't spend much time there anyway. The bathroom was very cold, dated & it was only possible for a luke warm shower. Location wise for our work & for eating it was ideal....though the area is quite run down & I wouldn't go to Bradford for leisure!

Review 24:Lovely people welcome you here, the room was everything we needed with lots of space. Also plenty of space in the car park which was very important to us in a large van. The New Beehive is right next to a very good Indian restaurant & close to other options.

Review 25:The rooms were dirty and looked like a 1960s care home. Window didn't shut properly, holes in the walls. Sooo noisy and no manager support. Vertical blinds didn't shut properly and we're too short. Stained chairs broken furniture and dirtiest kettle I've ever seen!!

Review 26:Nothing really, unless u count leaving!!

Review 27:It was 30C outside, no Air Con in the room & you could not open the window!

Review 28:There was a good selection if beers in the pub, although we did not stay to try them.

Review 29:the noise the walls are so thin you can everything next door to us the television was on until 3 in the morning we had no sleep at all and the traffic noise

Review 30:the bar downstairs is lovely

Review 31:Fire alarm went off at 2.30 am - false alarm, toilet smelled unpleasant, room was basic and old fashioned- in need of renovation.

Review 32:Staff were friendly on arrival but not present in departure, free wifi.

Review 33:I'm really glad we stayed here- it's a beautiful Edwardian pub, complete with gas lamp. We had an ample room with large windows overlooking the park. Also in a fascinating area- high ground above the city centre dotted with old chimneys.

Review 34:After booking was told by a friend that homeless people were sent their by council for interim periods. To late to cancel. Checked in, got my key, went to room to be greeted by a person who didn't have a clue what day of the week it was and closed door on me without saying anything. Shown to wrong room, inevitably a homeless chap. Very uncomfortable. People banging on others doors at 4am. Strange place. It was the cheapest option to book, so maybe explain things.

Review 35:Sizeable room. Nice beer in pub. Freindly (though not professional) staff.

Review 36:Fittings in the rooms could do with a sympathetic update.

Review 37:Unique character - the bar is lit by the original gas lamps. The staff are friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast and good value.

Review 38:That couldnt connect to wi--fi,but not the end of the world, haha.

Review 39:Everything,as this used to be my local pub at different times of my life from the early 70's onwards. Also glad Williams still in charge, just a shame the pub was so quiet, but thats the pub buisness now. This was like a homecoming for me & will be popping back over from Burnley to catch up with William, all in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay n definitely recommend.

Review 40:WiFi was a bit unstable

Review 41:Great value for money, old and rustic but clean and good location, comfy beds, nice staff, good resturants near by, park to walk the dogs and a 24houropen Tesco and a shopping mall i walking distance.

Review 42:We had to book a hotel very late at night due to missing our flight (my daughter and I) and the landlord was extremely helpful to us and let us print out our new boarding passes for the next morning. We arrived after twelve midnight and he was very helpful and friendly to two exhausted travellers.. Thank you.

Review 43:THE SODDING STAIRS ! Definitely not for elderly/infirm. Also they are "iffy"stairs for kids. I would also say that trailing leads for telly and lamps are a trip hazard as draped along floor(no PAT test ID).

Review 44:Easy location . Easy parking. Great cider! Some fantastic old buildings that need loving care and rejuvinating . Centre is a bit shabby . Superb Indian restaurant almost next door(forgot name)to Beehive. The best Taxi drivers we have found in years .Next to restaurant. They pick you up(idle I know)for such a short walk. Would love to buy the table in our room and the bureaux on landing. Was there for grand daughters 1st birthday. Was the closest accomodation to Leeds ,due to Tour De France. Stay again? YES.

Review 45:Not in the best area. Issues with power on first night of stay

Review 46:Good value for money, quite close to university, room perfectly adequate

Review 71:The pub is phenomenonal.

Review 72:Poor area, derelict looking

Review 73:Friendly staff, room was clean and tidy. Good value for money

Review 74:Despite no smoking room, there was strong smell of cigarettes in the room.

Review 75:Not a good experience

Review 76:Price

Review 82:nothing!

Review 83:The pub is a bit rough but the staff were friendly.

Review 84:The room was good: roomy, clean and pleasantly laid out.

Review 85:Very deprived area. As a female I would not have felt safe going out alone at night.

Review 86:Clean & warm

Review 87:Friendly staff, good location, an original Arts and Crafts interior, good beer in the bar.

Review 88:Needs a refurbishment

Review 89:Staff we're very helpful

Review 90:Everything else! No breakfast!!

Review 91:Nothing!

Review 92:friendly staff, nice room, good value accomodation

Review 93:nothing

Review 94:the atmosphere

Review 95:I didn't know how to open the window. However as I only stayed one night I didn't mention it.

Review 96:How friendly and helpful the staff were.

Review 97:Decor and room furniture dated but that is its charm. Staff excellent and eateries in 5-10 min walk. Breakfast was excellent!!

Review 98:Great place, hotel near by Bradford center. If you want to stay out till night there is still fire exit available so dont need to go via reception

Review 99:Corridors doors smelling of smoke apart from good hotel to stay

Review 100:Staff helpful good location nice comfortable rooms enjoy my two say stay.

Review 101:Someone unknown knocking on the door at night.

Review 102:Having to carry luggage to 2nd floor.

Review 103:Staff were helpful

Review 104:Place smelt of cigarettes

Review 105:Cheap handy for theatre

Review 106:Fair.

Review 107:It seemed it was the haunt of the down and outs.

Review 108:Rooms not serviced. Locked out at night! No bell to ring! No answer to telephone! Had to knock another guest, (unknown), up to let us in! Window in room would not open.

Review 109:Pets welcome. Gas light bar. Querkiness. Individuality of rooms. Car park. Room changed to one with oening window - no argument.

Review 110:This establishment should be removed from Booking.com. Although I feltsorry for the young guy serving at the bar who was dealing with allissues please be aware: - it is more suited to a role as a rehab unit, unfortunately those in the bars were not encouraged to go home despitetheir desparate and drunken state. The claims made by their publishedstatus should be subject to Trading Standards investigation, even theirclaim of camra recognition is false, it is clearly posted on the wallof the bar but relates to another property the owner has in Sheffield.Best advice do not stay or visit unless you enjoy the company of drunksand addicts.

Review 111:Leaving

Review 112:Decor is a bit dated, shower in room was pretty poor, very low water pressure.

Review 113:Big room , comfy bed, guy who booked us in was really friendly and helpful.

Review 114:No offer of wifi, old fashioned. Couldn't sleep any earlier than 2.30am as people in the pub and beer garden, very dated, sweeping the hall ways at 3am in the morning, staff in the morning not very helpful and didn't want to know, no tv channels as signal poor, no plug sockets unless using a double adapter. Would use again.

Review 115:The staff that booked us in was brilliant really helpful

Review 116:Nothing to mention really. Excellent quality for the price.

Review 117:Lovely Edwardian building, and the gas lights from the pub took me to a bygone era + proper good British ales. Clean and comfortable rooms and the breakfast was nice and fast.

Review 118:The room smelt of cigarettes, the shower didn't work, the toilet made a funny noise when flushed, the room was noisy from traffic outside and music in the pub below.

Review 119:It is a pub, not a hotel. They just have a couple of rooms upstairs. The funny thing is the reception, which is just one side of the bar. So when the bartender turns back from the bar side, they become a receptionist.

Review 120:Accidentally ordered a stout from the bar which wasn't to my taste.

Review 121:Used to drink in here many moons ago. Still has a great selection of beers in the bar. Stayed for one night to attend a function. Room was very clean and quiet. Nice staff, excellent breakfast. I managed a good comfy nights sleep. For the price it was excellent value for money. Would book again if I need to stay over.
