Reviews for La Ferme De La Chapelle
Review 1:Rooms are functional rather than luxurious.
Review 2:Very friendly proprietor. Relaxed atmosphere over a lovely breakfast. Fantastic elevated position overlooking Fecamp. Unique and interesting property; if you are looking for pristine, replicable, chain-hotel blandness then this is not for you.
Review 3:I thought the rooms could have had more comfortable furnishings - it was a bit like a hostel in the room . Also we had several lights that didn't work
Review 4:Loved the location and building
Review 5:lock on door broken & we could hear the wind whisteling in the room all night. Bathroom door doesn't close completely,
Review 6:polite staff, friendly to our dog, good parking, amazing view, nice walk around the grounds, clean pool.
Review 7:The main hotel smells of damp as do the bedrooms upstairs. The whole place is in need of some tender loving care.
Review 8:The evening meal was very nice. so this was a positive part of our stay.
Review 9:Rooms were dirty. Furniture very basic and broken. Kitchen facilities too basic for words. Bathroom moldy! So overall very poor for money spent
Review 10:The Location!
Review 11:The bathroom was up a spiral staircase which is fine if you don't need to go there in the dark. The furnishings were rather tired and could do with updating. Food for children was really nonexistent, our nearly 5 year old found the food on offer too rich at 7.30 pm.
Review 12:We had our young grandson with us so the fact that we had a family room was a great help. The food was excellent, a major plus point for foodies. The position was really outstanding, unfortunately there was a sea fret in the morning so we couldn't appreciate the view.
Review 13:Erm......only slight difficulty but not a dislike was not being able to speak English as our French is rubbish! Internet a bit intermittent in the room.
Review 14:Views, breakfast, location for walking, allows dogs.
Review 15:Our apartment was not renovated and therefore old and shabby. The bathroom: some mould next to the bathtub, no shower curtain Disgusting carpetfloor in bedrooms Kitchen not clean
Review 16:The peaceful location and surroundings, the yard We booked it because of this and liked it there although there were many negative things we had known before (there are lots of photos, etc. in the net). But when you are surrounded by such a spectacular landscape you only go there for showering and sleeping.
Review 17:The interior of the apartment was awful. Peeling wallpaper, wobbly tap, stained blankets, stained worn thin carpets, broken blind, damp smell, mould. This may have just been our apartment and other may be better. We would have booked in somewhere else but arrived too late to get anywhere else. Checked out as soon as we could.
Review 18:The location over looking the sea is great. Staff were very pleasant.
Review 19:ventilation possibilities (opening part in the door) not that safe and no mosquito protection pool is not heated, but i managed :-) getting to town is only fast and easy by car because of the high climb
Review 20:nice location, quiet, friendly people, clean and large enough room, big bathroom with walk-in shower, good breakfast, restaurant has not that many choice but value for money we had a room giving out on the yard, I suppose the rooms on the first floor are totally different
Review 21:The Children's menu in the restaurant was very limited infact only one choice- guinea fowl... Turns out the kids quite liked it but more of a choice would have been better
Review 22:We stayed in this apartment for a one night stop over whilst travelling from dieppe to dol de Bretagne. Rooms were spacious, pool would have been nice if weather had allowed us to use it. Interesting German defences to explore on coast. Beautiful views...
Review 23:The wind was really noisy on my top floor room
Review 24:The hotel is located on top of the cliff on an old monestary like building and is really authentic. The view is breathtaking. There's a German battery (the atlantic wall) right next to the hotel.
Review 25:Bathroom ventilation was poor Long sterile corridor to the room
Review 26:Excellent food in relaxed restaurant Interesting room layout Very quiet hilltop location Tremendous view of the coastline Helpful staff Cyclist-friendly
Review 27:Although the room was spare it was large, comfortable, and clean, with a seemingly recent new coat of paint. We only had breakfast there but it was excellent-- a large variety of delicious food. The best part was the scenery. Set atop a bluff along Normandy's Alabaster Coast, there is a wonderful path along the top of the cliffs that was deserted-- very peaceful. It is geographically isolated from the town 125 m (400 ft) below, so it has a peaceful, bucolic setting. We were on a road trip through Normandy so we only stayed one night, but I would have been happy to stay another. July 2014.
Review 28:Have stayed here several times previously and it is a shame that the owners don't seem to refurbish the accomodation in main hotel (although noticed the pool rooms have been done). The decor looks tired and run down with notably a window fastening still not being repaired from when i stayed in same room 2 years ago. Plus the dead bug marks could do with removing from walls. Needs updating/refurbish asap
Review 29:Can recommend the Restuaurant for evening meal as food lovely and also the garden and location
Review 30:The studio that we had (cote de la vierge) was very much unlike the one you see on the pictures. It seriously needs redecoration and was also not clean. The carpet upstairs smelled bad, and many parts were very dusty because of the superficial cleaning. Furthermore, Fécamps is not a very interesting city. Etretat, Deauville and Honfleur are nicer places.
Review 31:The location is good for it's view and walks. The swimming pool, although cold, was clean and nice. The surrounding garden and the historical building itself are all nice.
Review 32:Must have a car to get there and away. Next time will book a room with a kitchen.
Review 33:Magnificent views just behind the corner. Swimming pool saved our day as it was exhaustingly hot. Nice garden, cute surroundings with sheep, cows and a horse.
Review 34:The room looked onto the roof and wall of another building from one window, slightly better from the other...not a courtyard view as promised on line. The room was very drab and needed updating, which would not have taken much to make it look fresh and more inviting. The blanket had stray hairs as did the bathroom. A carpeted floor so perhaps also not very sanitary. The WiFi did not work in our room although it did in the reception and dining area. We expected the pool to be cold and it was but there were no comfortable loungers, no protection from the sun and wind and a chilly dip was short lived. The food was very expensive and there was no vegetarian option. One waitress was very sweet, the other most unhelpful - perhaps because she spoke no English. She said nothing to be had but a plateful of veggies whilst the other was willing to produce and omelette - the size of the Green Giants boot, although more tasty no doubt! We thought breakfast was included so was surprised to end up paying 12E each for what was a very ordinary breakfast. Perhaps we expected too much but the total bill was over 150E for one night and this hotel was not to that stardard.
Review 35:On line, we liked that it was out of town with beautiful views. In reality, you had to be out of the hotel to see the views, which were very nice. We liked that it had gourmet dining with local produce on offer. We liked the fact that it had a pool and would give us a chance to relax.
Review 36:Chairs in the room were not particularly comfortable and the the bed was a bit too low (although I had a good night's sleep).
Review 37:Good location and a couple of minutes walk gave a wonderful view of the town and bay. Ideal position for walking. Evening meal in restaurant was very good and the atmosphere friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was the usual cold buffet and acceptable. Had a room overlooking the garden. The large bathroom and walk-in shower were clean and well equipped. Swimming pool clean and very welcome after a day of sightseeing.
Review 38:Smell. Comfort. Facilities
Review 39:Not alot
Review 40:the hotel was like a dump
Review 41:free parking
Review 42:Breakfast
Review 43:Logistic and the structure
Review 44:Rooms very tired - needs to be refurbished
Review 45:The views and location were good
Review 46:garden overgrown and a mess. Light bulbs broken.
Review 47:position
Review 48:No lift!
Review 49:Location & Breakfast.
Review 50:Lack of Staff Had to Hunt for someone when we arrived and also someone when we left.
Review 51:When paying, she didn't want to give us change, instead I needed to count out all my euro coins
Review 52:Rooms are slightly tired. Shower
Review 53:Food Staff Location
Review 54:Fantastic location, superb food, lovely staff.
Review 55:Great position on the top of the cliffs with great views and German blockhaus. Great food in fecamp.
Review 56:Hotel needs renovation.
Review 57:Location.
Review 58:see positives
Review 59:Fabulous location more than compensates for the little irritations (like curtains too small to black out the light). No finer view of the coast...
Review 60:The bathroom is defenitely in for renovation (we had the so called "Le Odyssee" room). Unfortunately in our bedroom there was some accumulated dust.
Review 61:Excellent location; beautifull garden; awsome views on Fécamp and the coastal line. friendly Staff. Moderate prices.
Review 62:The property was one of the most basic properties I have ever stayed in, it's such a shame they could make this into a wonderful property if they where to invest some money
Review 63:A great location
Review 64:The access to the room was by spiral staircase which was dangerous.Attempting to carry suitcases etc whilst negotiating the stairs wasalarming, to say the least. The bannister was loose which didn'thelp. The room was very small, dark and poorly designed. The plastictube which served as the shower had nowhere to hang and consequentlywater flooded the bathroom. The cheap plastic soap container fell tobits when I attempted to use it. The only full length mirror wassituated on the side of a cupboard six inches from the sideboard unitso couldn't be used. The furniture was cheap and ugly. There wereno attractive or redeeming features about this room at all. It lookedand felt miserable and affected our holiday. We couldn't wait toleave and wished we had only booked one night instead of two. Iinformed the staff who explained I had got the room cheap so what did Iexpect. It cost 170.E. Oh yes the bed was uncomfortable, it creakedwhenever we moved and we didn't have a full nights sleep during ourstay. Never again!!
Review 65:The only thing we liked was the garden!
Review 66:The rooms were not very clean, with old furniture, cracked walls and a terrible smell of food and dirt. Definitely not enough for a three stars hotel.
Review 67:The position is really nice In general, the courtyard area and swimming pool was beautiful Parking is easy and included
Review 68:Rooms feature a basic comfort, can be improved. Consider it as frustrating for sophisiticated customers.
Review 69:The location is especially great, moreover, the hotel was accomodated in a former "abbey"-farm. The restaurant offers a worthy Menu. the staff is friendly.
Review 70:The room was a bit run down and the breakfast had little variety (but good quality).
Review 71:The location is superb. An old priory of the 13th century. Very pleasant stay in the family room, a spacious duplex apartment.
Review 72:Rooms require some TLC including proper curtains/blinds and improved water. Shower was impossible due to water pressure and bath took 15 minutes to run.
Review 73:Location, garden with swimming pool, staff.
Review 74:En suite bathroom would benefit from an up-date.
Review 75:Unpretentious comfort which the hotel offered. Friendly, helpful staff. Light, clean, airy bedroom and comfortable bed. Good restaurant serving excellent food. Cliff top location.
Review 76:Our room was basic and in need of updating and decoration.
Review 77:The location, on the cliff tops and adjacent to the chapel, was superb. Good walks straight from the door to the WWII fortifications on the cliff and into the town, although we didn't try the latter. The food at dinner was excellent and the breakfast good although perhaps a little "tired" when we had it.
Review 78:There was a bad smell in room 15 on arrival not strong but present. Not sure what the cause of the smell was as the room was very clean (drains?). Once the room was aired the smell was less and did not spoil our stay. The swimming pool was too cold for us to swim in.
Review 79:The blend of modern living surrounded by the historical walls, gardens and abbey gave the hotel a unique feel. The feeling was both magical and spiritual. The views on the cliff top were amazing and would be a photographers dream. We were very impressed. The staff were both polite and helpful. The restaurant for breakfast and an evening meal was excellent. Thank you.
Review 80:You must have a car because the hotel is perched on the cliffs and is far from the city centre. Also the hours for lunch and dinner are limited and depend on the number of poeple who eat in the restaurant.
Review 81:The hotel is very well located with a great view on sea and cliff. The staff is very friendly. There is a very pleasant and flowery garden with a swimming-pool (which is "a little" cold).
Review 82:Very outdated bathroom with no shower. Mould around the bath and the bath panel was falling off. No shelves to put our things on and not enough towels. The basin seemed blocked. The bedroom was sparse but comfortable but not enough pillows. The staff at dinner were a bit un-friendly.
Review 83:Very comfortable bed. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Lovely location. The hotel was very clean and the location was wonderful. The gardens and pool looked inviting. Despite the things we didn't like we would definately go back as the whole feel of the hotel was good. Good value.
Review 84:It isn't a dislike, but upgrading the bedding would make the room even better!
Review 85:The view of Fécamp That is was part of a church! The room was huge
Review 86:Bathroom was awful, you had to hold the shower head because there was no fitting on the wall for it. No grab rail for the bath.Broken tiles around the bath, Towels the size of babies nappies. This was our last night in France and it was ruined. Whoever checked this hotel out should have their eyes tested.I have not been in a hotel this bad in years.
Review 87:Location
Review 88:Hotel appeared to be generally a bit "tired", breakfast was overpriced at 10 euros.
Review 89:Location and superb views. Room layout was excellent for a young family (two girls, 6 and 8) as they had their own separate area.
Review 90:Bathroom had no proper shower facility and the bathroom was distintctly `tired` in its decor - cracked/ missing tiles around bath.
Review 91:Location and proximity to Town.
Review 92:Smell of damp in my room.
Review 93:A great position looking down on the seaside town of Fecamp but it is quite a walk into town and must be gruelling walking up the hill. So you have to drive into Fecamp but this is minor issue. The hotel is tranquil and built around a large courtyard.
Review 94:We loved our stay in la ferme la chapelle. Beautiful location! Nice garden, with good, a bit cold, swimmingpool. However the studio we stayed at was a bit wore down, and ill equipped, only 1 coffeecup, in a studio for 4.
Review 95:Room possibly for Disbled but not well thought out. Very big and bleak, modern and 'cold' with a difficult door straight into the garden with novoiles or modesty blinds. The sink was leaking badly and was far tootrendy to ever be successful and none too clean. Not a very pleasingroom, no view despite the glorious, but windy, hilltop position. We weredisappointed with the cooking, having spent the previous 3 weeks inFrance. No where near as luxurious as we expected but perhaps thelocation clouded our judgment. It's a pity it was sadly lacking insimple attention to detail.
Review 96:The location on top of a very high hill is spectacular and firstimpressions are exciting. Parking was easy and staff very helpful...Nice people.
Review 97:Hotel staff seem to be uninterested, the sink in the bathroom wasleaking, the room was damp and the ventilation in the bathroom did notwork. We did clearly hear footsteps of the people staying in the roomabove us. Wireless internet is offered for free but the signal is tooweak to be usable.
Review 98:The hotel is located on a hill with a great view on the city, thebreakfast is ok.
Review 99:We arrived on a Saturday and had an evening meal which was good but the restaurant was shut on Sunday and Monday evenings and as the hotel is "out of town", this meant we had to drive into town to eat the other 2 evenings. We had a broken bedside lamp in our room, which was fixed only after 48 hours.

Review 102:Spectacular location in priory on top of cliff overlooking Fécamp. Friendly service. Efficient. Good rooms overlooking delightful garden. Good food and generous portions. Very enjoyable stay.
