Reviews for La Frégate
Review 1:Parking. The receptionist was off-hand about the parking... so it will cost you 40 euros - 'so what!' was the attitude..so complain to the mayor!! We did and the office in the mairie was very helpful. We ended up paying 6.50 euros! Why doesn't the hotel have an information sheet explaining what to do about parking? The receptionist was far from helpful on all matters. We explained that we did not want breakfast as we were leaving very early in the morning. The receptionist's response was 'no problem' ... but it was a problem because when we tried to leave the hotel early in the morning all the doors were locked! The hotel states that there is 24 -hour service in the reception so we rang and rang and rang - but no response!! We waited arouind for one hour with our bags waiting for someone to arrive. More seriously - what would have happened if one of us needed to get to a hospital urgently, or the hotel was on fire!! The whole place was locked up! The problems with the small lift, showers, etc are well documented in the comments of other unfortunate guests so I have focused on the two issues described above. The manager needs to realise that the way a guest is received in the hotel is important, and issues need to be dealt with.
Review 2:The situation is good. Easy walk to the harbour and amenities
Review 3:Pillows were poor, need replacing and the shower cubicle in Room 14 is not for anyone with a BMI greater than 20 but if staying again I would ask for a room with a bath as I believe there are some. Note: no tea making facilities or fridge. Not a deal breaker but in the summer months that would be useful.
Review 4:Staff were very friendly, the place was spotlessly clean and the location only 7 minutes walk from the station and a minute to the sea was perfect. Breakfast at E8.50 was good value. Room was spacious.
Review 5:Lovely staff, super safe place. Happily left items of value in room with no worries. Food is fantastic and understated on menu - grilled beef is superb steak etc. I love Collioure and will return to La Fregate
Review 6:bad smell from wash hand basin caused by blockage. Given another slightly better room however.
Review 7:Centrally placed with ease of access to the Town' s various facilities.
Review 8:The staff are so rude and so very inept, it's almost comical. When I checked in, they couldn't find my reservation, when I checked out, they checked out the wrong person, even though I gave them my room key with the room number on it. No a single smile in the house amoung staffers. Come on people, life could be worse.
Review 9:Wonderful location, room was roomy and clean with a good shower and a/c. I could even see the Medditerranean if I stretched my head out the window.
Review 10:Parking is very difficult and there is no where to load/unload luggage close to the hotel. Reception staff miserable and unwelcoming. Reckoned they did not know we were bringing our dog even though it was mentioned on the confirmation, then put us on the 4th floor. She was also unhelpful re parking. She forgot to action the key card, so when we got to the room it did not work. Lift too small to carry people and luggage.
Review 11:Great location in the centre of Collioure. Handy for beach, shops, tourist sights and a good choice of restaurants.
Review 12:No parking and staff not helpful with this. A shuttle service to car park would be useful - even information about the car park would have been handy.
Review 13:Proximity to centre and sea
Review 14:Parking was in a public car park opposite and up the hill and it was very difficult to offload suitcases
Review 15:Location right in centre of Collioure and eating breakfast in the sunshine outside watching the market
Review 16:No wifi at all up in the rooms so, if you want to use it you need to sit in the restaurant or do what I did and just stand around in the lobby! Surely a few wifi points wouldn't hurt? Quite expensive for what it is!
Review 17:Brilliant location - right in the heart of things. But not noisy. Excellent cleaners who even come and check you're happy with everything after they've cleaned!
Review 18:The lift was tiny and terrifying. Don't be put off by the ground floor decor, which was garish - yellow patterned tiles - this did not reflect the rooms which were modern, clean and comfortable and not at all garish.
Review 19:Location was excellent. The room and bathroom was very clean and comfortable
Review 20:Could not get wifi to connect in room. Breakfast attendant appeared to dislike her job, assisting reluctantly to provide plates and to be pleasant.
Review 21:Location of hotel in centre of village. The comfortable bed with lovely crisp cotton bedding. Plenty of storage shelves even though ours was a one night stay it is good to keep the room clear.
Review 22:It is a really nice place and in the middle of everything. Nothing bad!
Review 23:The location. Parking is available - I suggest waiting for a spot at the lot across the street instead of driving around. 15 min mx. The location is perfect to enjoy the restaurants and festivals during the summer.
Review 24:It was very difficult to get a parking place for the car. Elevator slow and small.
Review 25:It is located in the middle of Collioure, close to the beaches, shops, and restaurants. Collioure is a lovely village. Rooms were clean, airco worked well.
Review 26:Lovely hotel and great location, though noisy at night with a cafe outside.
Review 27:Tiny lift only big enough for one person with bags. Wifi didn't work and little attempt was made to fix it by staff. Payment with credit card was not accepted, so needed cash.
Review 28:Very small lift, doors very difficult to open, could only just fit in 2 people plus luggage.( but given that this is an old building, this is probably the best they could do!)
Review 29:Small, friendly, compact hotel. Our room was spotlessly clean. Location on the edge of the old town, just a few minutes stroll down to the sea front.
Review 30:The ensuite shower was dreadful as the shower curtain did nothing which led to a flooded floor every time. The beds were very hard and the reception staff less than friendly at times.
Review 31:Really good value for money and the aircon was invaluable in 40 degree plus heat. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean, maid service every day.
Review 32:A poor variety of tv channels and once again no wifi in the bedroom andmanagement know this but have done nothing to rectify, this is typicalof French hotels
Review 33:Friendly staff, perfect location, very close to railway station, busdrop off, old town, beach, central, just perfect . bedroom wascomfortable, damn small shower but very quiet aircon
Review 34:I liked that the staff tried their best to be helpful. Even charged my electronics for me.
Review 35:The staff were very nice - but difficult to communicate since we did not speak French and their English was not good at all.
Review 36:Only complaint is the minuscule shower. I'm a little on the heavy side and barely made it through the door. Forget about washing your feet.
Review 37:Great location, comfortable room, nice friendly staff. Easy walking to old town section, castle and other attractions.
Review 38:Beds very short ( 6 feet max length) and narrow for doubles. Street noise late evening and early morning is noticeable. Breakfasts are reasonable but items like fresh fruit not always offered.
Review 39:Location superb, central to town, but noisy at night and early morning
Review 40:Parking, basically you had to find your own at 12euro for 24 hrs. No walk in showers , difficult for those with mobility problems.
Review 41:Room location, comfy bed, access to the town, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 42:Hotel positioned right on the front alongside other eateries. If you want to have everything to hand then this is a good place to stay, not tranquil as in a busy location, you can hear the hustle and bustle. Room good standard. Staff friendly and helpful. I am unable to rate food as didn't eat there.
Review 43:Outside of building v off putting - so shabby and reception if you could call it that not much better.
Review 44:Location excellent and to my surprise bedroom was just fine and very clean.
Review 45:Noise, noise and noise, outside had a fight in the middle of the night (about 3 am) and someone on the same floor had their TV blaring all night. If you turn up on a night with more considerate neighbors I'm sure its lovely.
Review 46:Great great great location. really right in the center of old Collouire. Really great place with fantastic architecture, stunning harbour, great restaurants... Hotel rooms a very nicely presented, the building itself is old, but with the exception of the tiny lift has been very well updated and maintained.
Review 47:The bathroom was far too small! And the access to upper floors was difficult with heavy luggage. Access to the hotel was difficult, vehicle-wise.
Review 48:The township is simply stunning, and the position of the hotel in relation to the beach and the best of the town's facilities is enviable. Large bedroom and comfy bed.
Review 49:I am 1.7 meters tall (5' 6") and weigh 73Kg and I found it difficult to shower because it was so small.
Review 50:Very close to the beach, right in the centre of town. Good place for an overnight stay.
Review 51:It was difficult to eat food with gluten free. Hotel seems less cathegory in general.
Review 52:Good information and very profesional person of reception. Workers are very kindly.
Review 53:Even though we had the suite on the top floor it was noisy. The windows should be better insulated. The room.also lacked any charm.
Review 54:The hotel is located close to the beaches and restaurants.
Review 55:Impossible to park, even to deposit luggage. Car park half a km away had to be visited 4 times a day to feed parking meter. Noisy into small hours with drunken yobs shouting and singing. No soundproofing. Early morning commercial activity contributed to the impossibility of sleep with all the noise.
Review 56:Position.
Review 57:Nothing
Review 58:This is the second time for us at La Fregate. Lovely spacious room, easy walk to beach, market and restuarants. Helpful and friendly front of house make it easy for non French speakers. We will return and highly recommend.
Review 59:the bathroom was weird, never ever been in such a small shower unit - quite a challenge to take a shower (and I'm normal size person)
Review 60:Beliggenheden og hyggen
Review 61:Lift is very compact - didnt bother us, we used the stairs but might not suit those with mobility issues
Review 62:Simple accommodation in a great location. Large spacious room, simply furnished with a truely comfortable bed. Fantastic ceramic tiled hallways and breakfast room. Nice continental breakfast. Great location for the beach or the town, loads of great restaurants nearby
Review 63:Right in the heart of Collioure surrounded by places to eat and drink and a hop from the sea .Friendly staff good breakfast and parking not far away.
Review 64:The restaurant was bad.Terrible service.Bad food
Review 65:Location
Review 66:Location very noisy in the early hours of the morning. Parking difficult and expensive
Review 67:Rooms very small
Review 68:Location is good
Review 69:basic hotel , good location , bed uncomfortable and early morning noise from street cleaners and non lorries , rooms adequate but dark .
Review 70:Tiny elevator.
Review 71:less than welcoming welcome
Review 72:nice bright rooms
Review 73:It was very close to train station and the beach. Lovely resort area. Felt very safe walking around at night. Wished I could have stayed longer
Review 74:Location & room very good
Review 75:No parking
Review 76:Location clean and very friendly staff
Review 77:Quiet and central.
Review 78:Location in the heart of Collioure. Excellent value restaurant.
Review 79:Location of hotel, size of room and bathroom.
Review 80:Large pleasant room with extra large window overlooking quieter street. Nicer hotel than the photos show.
Review 81:The birds in the tree outside !
Review 82:There was nothing I disliked. Room good, Breakfast very good. People charming.
Review 83:Breakfast was a bit samey
Review 84:Staff very friendly
Review 85:The lack of any tea or coffe making facilities in the room
Review 86:Location,cleanliness air conditioning Good double glazing to keep out any noise
Review 87:Nothing at all
Review 88:Resort is excellent. Room in the hotel was very nice and comfortable.
Review 89:We had to park in the train station's car park 500 meters uphill. Old fashioned bathroom
Review 90:Location right in the center
Review 91:Bathroom and lift smallest I've ever been in, but manageable, rooms are definitely not sound proof!!!
Review 92:Very clean, comfortable, although small
Review 93:Decor and location
Review 94:Wi-fi very bad signal
Review 95:It was centrally located in Collioure, that was the only positive.
Review 96:Simple room, cheap bed and pillows.
Review 97:Great location and excellent wifi coverage. Front desk very helpful.
Review 98:No hotel parking or bar
Review 99:Location to centre of collioure
Review 100:We stayed for 4 nights and were travelling to a few different places so we were a bit disappointed that there were no drawers and only a tiny bit of hanging space in our room. Had to keep everything in our cases. Huge sink dominated small shower room. The breakfast was quite expensive but as there was a reasonable choice this was ok until the last morning when we were given a basket with just one croissant and piece of bread each.
Review 101:Good location in the heart of the town and about a 10 minute walk from the train station. Very friendly Reception staff and reasonably sized room. Nice outlook onto the Chateau Royal. Comfortable bed and air conditioning which we needed.
Review 102:Very good, central position. Some rooms have recently been renovated and are excellent (cannot report on others - not sure if/when improvements are due). Busy, popular restaurant. Breakfast reasonable but fairly average for a prosperous restaurant.
Review 103:No wifi signal at all. Fairly scruffy and old fashioned on the ground floor - needs renovating.
Review 104:Excellent location, just a short stroll to the sea and old town. Fair sized bedroom and bathroom - renovated not too long ago. Car park easy walking distance.
Review 105:La Fregate was the perfect hotel for us. We have been going to Collioure for 15 years and this was our first stay of 7 nights at this hotel. We would definitely return. The lovely room, location, and being close to the beach and restaurants all count in its favour. We usually drive to Collioure but this time arrived by train and this is just a short walk. The icing on the cake was being able to catch the 1 Euro bus to other beaches and Perpignan. An
Review 106:Elevator is too small (max. 2 persons or 1 person with luggage), but not a big problem.
Review 107:Location is excellent. Beautiful building, old style. Breakfast was good.
Review 108:Basin in bathroom too large. A small basin would give a lot more room in there.
Review 109:Clean room. Friendly staff. Excellent location. Easy to find. Good windows and soundproofing.
Review 110:The shower was too small too turn around in. Also, a three star hotelshould equip the bathroom with hooks, substantial drinking glasses andan adequate supply of soap, shampoo and lotions.
Review 111:I had broken foot and the sole person on duty helped with the bags onarrival, and the same person (Fanny, I think), was even more helpful, ondeparture.Except for bathroom (see what didn't like), room was comfortable. We could even read in bed.
Review 112:Parking could have potentially been an issue. They advertise off-site parking for 10 Euro and that a reservation is not needed. This is technically true, however it is off-site public parking and you need to know where it is in order to find it.
Review 113:The hotel was situated in an ideal location. Within close proximity to the beaches, shopping, the open air market, and other attractions.
Review 114:No Parking and it's location makes it hard to drop off your luggage. Because you are in the center of town, it can be noisy if you leave the windows open at night.
Review 115:The location is excellent .
Review 116:No parking nearby so had to park at railway station parking.
Review 117:Spacious for the price, air conditioned, close to good shops and restaurants and only 100 meters from the beach. Has a lift!
Review 118:No bar/cafe service outside of food service hours
Review 119:Breakfast team and cleaners could of not been more helpful with our young child. Excellent location.Room spacious with space for travel cot.
Review 120:No soap! Some stuff in a wall dispenser that was hard to use and notvery nice. Didn't matter, went and bought some, but thought it odd.Breakfast is not desirable. Stale croissants, heated stale baguette, packets of butter and jam; bit of processed meat, ditto cheese, notexciting. Very poor value for 8 euros. Better in cafes on the front.
Review 121:Felt at home, comfortable - liked my room -
Review 122:indifferent service. miserly breakfast, croissants rationed per guest.
Review 123:Collioure unpleasantly crowded, Friday evening late May 2014.
Review 124:Wifi did not work
Review 125:Excellent location in the old town. Good buffet breakfast.
Review 126:No problems....all positive.
Review 127:Nearness to the grand promenade and restaurants.
Review 128:One waitress rather officious Noise from outside, double glazing not effective
Review 129:Rubbish hotel with a terrible restaurant. Avoid
Review 130:Lift
