Reviews for Champagne Domaine Sacret

Review 1:Pillows could be better.

Review 2:The breakfast and champagne tasting were great. The interaction and helpfulness of the owner were excellent. Could not have better.

Review 3:Gracious Hostess in Stephanie, spoke great English well versed in the Champagne Region and Ay. Exceptional help in planning our daily visits to Champagne Houses, Epernay and Reims. Great breakfast and she was instrumental in booking restaurant reservations.

Review 4:Lovely B&B. The facilities were nice and clean. The hostess was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic. We will return and are happy to highly recommend this place.

Review 5:Beautifully decorated rooms, great bathroom, sweet b&b with the bonus of champagne tasting from their own cellars in the evening. Delicious breakfast with local cheeses, crepes, and fresh bread. They got up and served us early as we had to leave to drive to the airport for a morning flight. Gracious hosts!

Review 6:A little hard to find, but worth the effort.

Review 7:The owners were the best. We loved out stay. Amazing. She even offered to do our laundry. Holy Moses!!

Review 8:Due to their working vineyard they are not usually at the B&B until 5.30-6.00 and there is no one else to greet you, so plan accordingly.A little difficult to find even with GPS.

Review 9:The location was nice and quite and secure at night and being able to walk to restaurants nearby the Stephanie recommended.Champagne tasting at night! The owners have a working vineyard so their knowledge of Champagne was a great help.Breakfast was plentiful.

Review 10:Stephanie was an excellent host ( as was James) . Her advice on where to eat was spot on and her champagne was very pleasant. Domaine Sacret is very comfortable and well equipped and the breakfast ...kept us going until dinner time. Will definitely return.

Review 11:Not being able to get access to the hotel until after 5.30

Review 12:Warm friendly welcome and excellent intro champagne tasting. Breakfast was tasty and arranged earlier than usual for us.

Review 13:Absolutely nothing

Review 14:This was wonderful. Stephanie must be the absolut best and warmest hostes in the world. Everything was above anything you could wish. In the evening all guests was invited to a champagne-meeting and you could have as much as you wanted without any costs. The breakfast was overwehlming. To be lucky to get a room at this place is like winning on lottery.

Review 15:Every thing was beautifully done perfect in every way, The breakfast was simply a Banquet even with champagne to start should you wish, Sptehanie our Hostess was charming. The bed was the most comfortable and a King size the best one of all the three hotels we stayed in during our holiday

Review 16:Only negative is that you cannot check in until 6 PM so plan accordingly

Review 17:Great place to stay in Champagne country in a small village Walking distance to restaurants Owner enjoys a glass or two of their own champagne with you at the bar Excellent breakfast

Review 18:Such a beautiful hotel, with lovely personal touches. With only 4 bedrooms, it feels very intimate, and was lovely to get to know both the other guests, and Stephanie the host over a glass of Domaine Sacret champagne, and again at breakfast. The rooms were finished to a high standard. We were sad to have only spent one night, but will hopefully be making a return visit next year to stock up on some more of the delicious champagne!

Review 19:Nothing

Review 20:Stephanie's welcome and caring attitude could not fail to make your stay a lovely and memorable experience.!! The overall set up is as wonderful as Sacrets champagnes !!!

Review 21:Lovely room in a beautiful family run champagne producer's property in central Ay. Delightful hostess with informative house champagne tastings every evening. Excellent breakfasts too. We will be back for more!

Review 22:What a home away from home with amazing hospitality from the owners! They made us feel like old friends and welcomed us with such detail as a pre arranged dinner appointment; tasting their Champagne and a room with everything one would want. This town is ideally located to explore The winelands around Epernay and come home to a beautifull villa with modern and contemporary decor. We loved the history that this family shared and shows around the house. We will be back!

Review 23:The wifi signal can be a little in and out, but we didn't really mind.

Review 24:The champagne tasting was fantastic, they really sat down and explained everything to you. The people were lovely and booked dinner for us at a fantastic restaurant nearby. The room was absolutely beautiful.

Review 25:This is a bed and breakfast establishment. There is no food other than breakfast. We arranged for the owners to book the only restaurant in Ay. Difficult on Sunday and Monday now in France with the 35 hours week as most businesses close. Not being able to enter the property until 6pm.

Review 26:Location. Very friendly owners. Exellent breakfast and glass of champagne on arrival.

Review 27:We had an incredible stay! The owner/manager was extremely helpful and friendly. Perfect location, close to a few champagne houses in Ay and Epernay is just a few minutes away. The room was immaculate and well decorated. The grounds were lovely. On top of all that, the house champagne was great! Couldn't have asked for more.

Review 28:Stéphanie's warm welcome despite the fact that we arrived during the sacrosanct 'vendanges' , the very agreeable rooms, the beautiful space made available to guests at all times, the excellent and carefully served breakfast… Also, the location which permitted the tasting and purchase of some very superior Champagnes.

Review 29:It's a small annoyance but the door to the bathroom was very creaky which didn't make for a discrete visit to the toilet during the night!

Review 30:Staying at a champagne house so that has its own bit of prestige! Straight forward parking. Very modern rooms. Very good breakfast with home made produce. Champagne tasting also a big plus! Stephanie, the host, was brilliant and arranged a reservation for us at an excellent restaurant nearby.

Review 31:Beautiful room in a wonderful setting in the centre of the Champagne region. The breakfast was delicious and everything was of an excellent standard throughout our stay. Very helpful booking restaurants and giving advice.

Review 32:Excellent location. Charming, comfortable accommodation. The owner made us feel extremely welcome with samples of their 'House Champagne' on arrival.

Review 33:everything just perfect , we will be back

Review 34:great location when visiting the champagne region , friendly environment with all luxury as needed and a great brut of the house

Review 35:Hotel is beautiful and is very comfortable. Rooms are large and feel very luxurious. Breakfast was superb. Its got it all, including the odd glass of champagne, which befits the place and company. A special mention should go to the hosts who were just 1st class and made our stay one of the most memorable.

Review 36:Check in is after 6 pm which is a bit late. We did not notice this on our booking an came to early. It should be stated more clearly. It was not possible to get a espresso for breakfast even though the lounge room had a nespresso machine.

Review 37:Nice, quite and romantic room. Beautiful decorated. Champagne tasting. The hostess had booked a restaurant for us which was highly appreciated as it was sunday and many restaurants were closed.

Review 38:Seemingly most unusual, we did not enjoy our stay due to the terrible welcome we received. We feel that if Stephanie and her husband want to run a B&B business they should either make alternative arrangements for receiving guests or not take guests at harvest time. If we had known it would be almost 7pm before we were shown to our room we would never have booked. Stephanie sent a message at lunch time saying that they were in 'full preparation of the harvest' and would not be back until 6.30pm. They arrived back at ¼ to 7 when we were waiting outside with 2 other guests. She said she had apologised and commented that we did not look happy, became extremely agitated and told us she did not need us and that we could leave. Later her husband appeared and after shaking hands proceeded with a long tirade in French. We could not understand the words but he was very aggressive, his body language indicating that we should leave. We stayed as it was late and re-read all the reviews. We can only presume that harvest must be a very stressful time.

Review 39:Accommodation was to the highest specification and scrupulously clean with an extraordinary Bar/ Billiards/ Breakfast area and outdoor terrace for guests' use. The shower room was very large and beautifully finished. The bedroom was very attractive, if slightly impractical as there was little available space on any of the flat surfaces. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choices ... including champagne (though too early in the day for us).

Review 40:Location was perfect. Bed and linen fantastic. Stephanie booked our restaurant as we were running late after sampling her superb champagne .an excellent place to stay.

Review 41:Great place in the middle of Ay with lovely champagne drink at 7 pm with all the guests and a fabulous breakfast (couldnt stop eating the homemade cake...)

Review 42:Beautiful private courtyard with secure parking. Rooms excellent with designer facilities. Host Stephanie knowledgeable and very helpful. Exceptional.

Review 43:Stephanie is wonderfully friendly and helpful as well as being totally bilingual having worked in London. Their champagnes are also excellent and their tasting at 7pm is a great idea and should be borne in mind when deciding the time you will book a restaurant for dinner. Parking is also completely secure. The place is also totally peaceful and quiet.

Review 44:We liked everything, it was clean, comfortable, friendly. The breakfast was amazing, many items freshly hand made. The quality of the room and décor was first class. Steph was extremely helpful. Would definitely stay here again, this is a little gem. It lives up to the review comments and more..

Review 45:No early check-in.

Review 46:The room and bathroom were well decorated and very clean. The owners were extremely friendly and welcoming. It was a beautiful place and would recommend to anyone.

Review 47:it's minor, but the wifi kept dropping. Not w big issue though

Review 48:So much effort put into the details of this place. An amazing property and great hosts!

Review 49:We loved everything about this place. The location in the village was fairly central - just a few minutes walk to any number of restaurants yet there was no passing traffic so it was very peaceful. The room we had was well appointed, spacious and very comfortable. The breakfasts were amazing both in quality and choice and we enjoyed the family style approach where all guests (there are only 4 rooms so you wont be inundated with people) sat at the same table so you could sit and chat about where to go and what to do. The host, Stephanie, was really very welcoming - she booked restaurants for us (and other guests) for our 2 evenings there and even made sure that the restaurant staff would accommodate my partner who is a vegetarian - not something widely embraced in rural areas of France. We were offered glasses of their own champagne on both evenings and sat on their wonderful open terrace enjoying this. Our only regret was that this was the first stop of our 2 and a half week trip so as we didn't want to carry champagne in the car for that long we missed out on bringing home a few bottles of their champagne. Next time we plan to make this the last stop of our trip (its about 2.5 hours from Calais) to avoid that problem.

Review 50:Honestly fantastic!! The owners couldn't go further in making your stay as pleasant as possible. The room was amazing with a stand alone bath and a capsule espresso machine!!!! The highlights are the evening champagne tasting (on the house) and the breakfast.

Review 51:The village Ay was not as beautiful as expected.

Review 52:Wonderful owners, especially Stephanie, made the stay to an unforgettable experience. The rooms were luxurious and unique in its decor. Nice and varied breakfast with home made dishes was included in the price.

Review 53:Very petty, but if I had to say one thing was missing, it would be shampoo in the shower! After a 3 week trip I had run out and would of expected toiletries to be supplied in the shower, not just bath foam.

Review 54:Everything! The hotel was superb and beautifully decorated to a very high standard. Stephanie and James were wonderful hosts, nothing was too much trouble. The Champagne tasting was a great touch and a nice way to mingle with the other guests. Breakfast was superb, it was a shame we had to leave.

Review 55:This was an excellent place to stay, the host is amazing and nothing is too much trouble. If we are lucky enough to return to this area we will base ourselves here without a doubt.

Review 56:The hotel is accessible only at 18.00.

Review 57:Come here when you want to make a baby or two, when you have a romance going on or when you want to cheer up your marriage. (We had room called "Teatrale".)

Review 58:Slightly difficult to find the property due to one-way streets

Review 59:Everything about the property, hosts, room, champagne, breakfast. Host also kindly booked a restaurant for the evening.

Review 60:That we didn't stay longer

Review 61:Loved everything Our room Our bed Our bed linen Our beautiful bath The amazing breakfast ( you would go along way before you could find a better breakfast) The house champagne The hosts

Review 62:Stephanie and James are incredibly friendly and helpful hosts. Drinking their delicious Champagne on the terrace and meeting the other guests made for a very enjoyable stay. Ay was a great location from which to visit the surrounding area.

Review 63:wifi didn't work.

Review 64:Very friendly, nice touch to have champagne in the evening. Breakfast is excellent, fresh and quality ingredients. Decor and the whole building is very well put together.

Review 65:Stephanie & James were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The champagne tasting as a welcome drink was extremely well received. The rooms can only be described as luxurious and nothing was too much trouble. Stephanie even booked us in to restaurants for our evening meals. A hassle free few days!

Review 66:Stephanie spoke brilliant English and made us feel extremely welcome. The breakfast was amazing after a great night sleep in our very comfortable and peaceful room and James gave us some very accurate directions to a champagne house we wanted to visit. Perfect!

Review 67:Nothing not to like, everything to make me stay there again.

Review 68:We booked two nights and what a pleasant surprise the stay was. Stephanie and James are the perfect hosts, going beyond the norm to present, achieve and share their dream. The room was stunning in its decor, size and amenities. Breakfast was fantastic and the bar a sociable area to mingle of an aft noon. It was a privilege to stay at Domaine Sacret and was a perfect end to a fantastic holiday.

Review 69:We couldn't connect to the WiFi. Stephanie attempted to help but wasn't able to get it to connect either.

Review 70:Stephanie was warm and welcoming. She gave us a great recommendation for dinner and for exploring Epernay and the surrounding area.

Review 71:Really welcoming hosts, fantastic breakfast, and it was lovely to have a glass of champagne on the terrace at the end of the day to meet the other guests. Great bath too, very welcome after running in La Champenoise!

Review 72:I just wish I had been offered the upgrade to the pink room ( someone reneged on their booking ) I liked that room better. I assume the shelves now installed to hold shower items- no big deal for one night though

Review 73:we loved the hospitality shown by Stephanie. from welcome drinks ( and not just one glass!) to restaurant advice and tasting room advice.... comfy bed rooms and ensuites ( we toured the next day and looked at all of them). the private tour of their "caves " nothing could be faulted - just please open those doors in dining area when it is warm. the brekky was over the top- homemade yoghurt plus pastries, cheese . too much !!

Review 74:The bedroom was decorated and furnished with quality items, bed very comfortable and shower brilliant. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of variety and overall hospitality also excellent. English was spoken and being only 4 rooms made for a very friendly stay with a chance to meet the other guests and share a welcome drink.

Review 75:Internet connection - but hey we were on holiday ... Probably did us a favour.

Review 76:Loved the decor and eclectic simplicity. Lovely bedroom and bathroom - comfortable pillows and bed, bedroom furnishings, textiles and towels tip top. Welcome warm, champagne cold and breakfast homemade!

Review 77:That we couldnt stay longer!

Review 78:Stephanie went above and beyond to make our stay just perfect and we would totally recommend Domaine Sacret. Breakfast was super with homemade cake, apple tarts, yoghurt and to die for creme brûlée. Bedrooms and champers are also fabulous!! We'll no doubt see you very soon - thanks Stephanie and James

Review 79:Everything was INCREDIBLE

Review 80:Fantastic room and the service from Stephanie was absolutely incredible .. from the moment I arrived from a long journey from olde England with a refreshing glass of Champagne..

Review 81:The hosts Stephanie and James were extremely nice and welcoming. Had nice pre-dinner drinks with them and chatting about local lifestyles. Very nice stay, quiet environment.

Review 82:We were so thrilled with our stay at Domain Sacret. Stephanie welcomed us, helped us get settled and made a reservation for us at the local restaurant. It was wonderful to have a tour of their champagne cellar the next morning and to watch her husband James at work making champagne with their trusted champagne cat, Doudou. After the tour we did a tasting. And yes, we bought extra luggage and so we could bring home three cases of Champagne Sacret. We loved our stay!

Review 83:Enjoying a complimentary glass of champagne with the owner Stephanie & the other guests on arrival out on the balcony outside the bar. we were served some nibbles ( and more importantly a second glass ) and reccomended an excellent Brasserie not too far away. The hotel had a very 'high end ' feel - the quality of the rooms & bar area were second to none, but yet it was so friendly that we felt like we were staying at a good friend's very lovely house. Being shown round the hotel's own champagne cellars......it was very interesting.....and they are building an indoor pool down there too...i wonder if they are going to fill it with Champagne ? ....Just an idea !

Review 84:A reminder at the Courtyard Entrance that they open daily and greet guests at 6pm.

Review 85:From the reception with a Glass of Champagne Sacret' Brut to the marvalous breakfast with homemade yogurt & croissants, then entire stay was "The Best" of The Champagne Region.

Review 86:We really liked the concept of having only a few rooms , which meant we met the other guests over welcome drinks and breakfast. Fabulous atmosphere. The owners James and Stephanie, were absolutely delightful.

Review 87:First , you have a perfect hostess in English speaking Stephanie-nothingis too much trouble for her. Second, you have beautiful new rooms and aNover the top delicious breakfast Third, you are in champagne!!!!

Review 88:Cannot fault a thing !

Review 89:Everything was great, The hosts are exceptional and nothing was too much trouble. James even drove us into Epernay and picked us up after our evening meal. They make their own Champagne which is very good and have their own cave beneath which was a very unexpected plus. We were welcomed with a glass of Champagne and they are lovely to chat with and ask about the area as very knowledgeable. Would not hesitate in recommending and shall definitely go back again, hopefully soon.

Review 90:Breakfast was wonderful. Owners were lovely and so helpful. Room was outstanding with premium quality accessories such as huge fluffy towels. The in house champagne was excellent and highly recommended. Perfect for eploring Ay on foot which is ideal since there are so many champagne houses nearby. Would definitely go back.

Review 91:The owners are amongst the most hospitable and friendly people we have ever met. Domaine Sacret is a gorgeous location, beautifully decorated with a real eye for detail.

Review 92:Bedroom furnishings a little sparse. A rug would work well. Somewhere to put soap and shampoo etc in shower would be helfuld

Review 93:Lovely Friendly couple, genuinely caring, without being intrusive. Attention to detail..welcomed with a glass of house champagne. Very good spacious communal 'atrium'/bar area to relax. Very good breakfast - freshly pressed orange juice, home made yoghourt and creme brulee (yes!), with a variety of other choices-very generous. Bedroom and shower room well-designed, well- decorated and comfortable. Good quality.

Review 94:We liked it all!

Review 95:Domaine Sacret is a haven of comfort, lodged in the old quarter of the small town of Ay, a short distance from busier Épernay. It is the perfect combination of old and new; a distinguished old property where champagne has been made for many years, combined with beautiful, distinct, stylish and comfortable rooms. The main living area is a large room with a panoramic window which perfectly frames the whole property. There is a lovely terrace which will come into its own in the summer. There are many chairs and sofas to sink into, a French billiards table, an attractive, well-stocked bar, and a large dining table where the delicious and generous breakfast is served. The owners, Stéphanie and James, are the perfect hosts and made us feel most welcome. They recommended some fine restaurants locally and happily made reservations for us. They also produce their own range of excellent champagnes which we had ample opportunity to sample. Luckily we had room in the car to take some home and extend the wonderful experience. We will definitely stay again. Perfect!

Review 96:Sheets didn't fit the bed properly (too small) so as they unravelled we didn't sleep too well. Decor not to our taste - the free-standing bath looks cool but wouldn't suit everyone. Lovely candles in the room - some matches would have been helpful.

Review 97:Staff were incredibly helpful and hospitable. Really enjoyed the pre-dinner champagne tasting and all the local travel tips, history etc. The hosts helped us with finding a place for dinner and then arranged a visit to the nearby Collet producer - thank you. Super breakfast. Good to be able to park in the courtyard.

Review 98:Friendly and bubbly host who has lots of information about the area and restaurant recommendations Superb French breakfast Free WiFi Quiet location Large room and nice soft towels and bed

Review 99:The wifi signal was weak in the room.

Review 100:I went to the Champagne region with my fiancée and my parents and we spent two nights at the Domaine Sacret. The experience could not have been better. Even my Dad, who prefers group hotels, was more than happy with the stay. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, each with unique traits. When we stayed there it was quite cold, and the heating system was up to the task. We could say that they are as good as at least a nice four stars hotel, if not a five stars one. The common area was also amazing – an ample space with a bar, some sofas and a nice breakfast table. Another positive aspect was the breakfast. Always on time, and everything was fresh: pastries, orange juice, and bread. There was a lot of diversity, for example, different types of cheese, which I particularly enjoyed. Also, the food was quite plentiful, being enough even for those with a bigger appetite. The best, though, were the receptiveness of the hosts. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. For example, the first night, Stephanie not only booked a nice local restaurant for us, but walked us there to be sure that we did not get lost in the cold. Also, her husband’s passion for champagne is incredible; for those who speak french and want to have a nice chat about it, he is a great person to talk to. My fiancée definitely enjoyed it. In addition, they are very receptive to comments and are always trying to make it a more special place. It is an excellent option for anyone who wishes to spend some days in champagne.

Review 101:A little mix up with our arrival time that was completely overtaken by the warmth of our visit.

Review 102:The warmth of our host Stephanie; Champagne tasting with other guests in the large sitting-dinning room; Beautifully appointed rooms and bathrooms;

Review 103:The owners are just starting the B&B bussiness. Price is more then decent, rooms are luxorious, breakfast is delicious, owners are well Engliah speaking and very friendly. Home cellars and chmpagne for breakfast. In walking distance from vineyards, many of excellent champagne houses and 15 min driving distances to every other champgane house.

Review 104:I didn't find any fault in the space. It would have been nicer to stay a little closer to the city center.

Review 105:I had no idea this was a champagne house as well. When I checked in I was thrilled to find out it was a small 4th generation owned champagne house.

Review 106:nothing, all good

Review 107:landlady was exceptionally friendly and hospitable, couldnt do enough for us even making a packed lunch for our onward journey. rooms are fabulous, very comfortable bed, very clean with fab shower and bath. breakfast also fab with home made yoghurt.

Review 108:The bedroom, The rest room, The place in general, The host, The champagne.

Review 109:The hosts, Stefanie and James were very welcoming and the Champagne tasting was a treat

Review 110:Very friendly hosts. Nice hotel located very close to the champagne fields. Breakfast is really nice. Would certainly recommend Domaine Sacret!

Review 111:Great hosts, great location.....could go on .... everything was fantastic!
