Reviews for Fowey Hall - A Luxury Family Hotel
Review 1:We found the cost of the wine to be rather expensive, but otherwise the food was good excellent quality and value.
Review 2:The wonderful location overlooking the estuary, the ambiance and aroma of the Xmas decorations, ease of check-in and delightful greeting from the staff set the scene for a wonderful weekend. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with soft feather bedding and a hammock in an adjoining room was a delightful surprise.
Review 3:Friendly and helpful staff - all extremely kind and eager to please, cannot fault the service one bit. Beautiful location and building - a little tatty around the edges in some places but we thought all in all very charming. As a family-friendly hotel it gets the balance right with children - as a young couple without, we didn't feel it was totally dominated by kids. Bathroom in our room was very close to the bed and not private (smoked glass) and no bin in the bathroom. Decs a bit outdated. Great breakfast menu but eggs could be better seasoned as v bland. Prices are generally on the high side and inconsistent (i.e. a steak main for supper was £29 and yet a 3 course Sunday lunch was £19). We would definitely love to stay again but only on a weekend offer as otherwise the prices are slightly too high for what you get in comparison to other 4 star hotels we have stayed in around the country.
Review 4:The Standard of the room was appalling. First the room was not in the main hotel it was in a converted stable block to the rear, which is ok if the weather is dry but leaves you feeling a bit wet for breakfast when it rains and you have a four minute walk to the front entrance. The room was no more than basic, it was a double room containing a kingsize bed, only one chair for two people, a large closet but only eight hangers, no drawers so live out of a suit case shall we? Apart from that there was no ventilation in the room, no windows opened, no air con. For the ladies the was a large mirror but in that darkest corner of the room its a good job the fetching 80's desk lamps used as beside lamps were easily portable The bathroom did have a window that opened but the catch was broken so it could not be opened properly which was a bit unfortunate as the extractor fan didn't work.
Review 5:The Staff were excellent, the food was excellent although the bar prices were a bit steep. If anyone does risk the hotel I can thoroughly recommend the Fillet Steak it is probably the best I have ever tasted.
Review 6:No separate bar to view drinks etc. before purchasing. Over priced wine for the quality could have been 25% cheaper and still quite expensive. Limited menu for dinner and breakfast. Food quite expensive and service very slow at breakfast (No good if you had a train to catch!)
Review 7:Position with sea views Comfortable large bed. Large room with good facilities Nice swimming pool and Spa area. Food of reasonable quality
Review 8:The 3-course evening meal for the half board option was very expensive. We went to Nathan Outlaw's for a 3-course set lunch and glass of fizz and it was about £15 less per person. Dinner at the hotel wasn't on the same level so think it could perhaps be reduced in price.
Review 9:Fowey Hall provided the perfect summer holiday at short notice. Very relaxing, great facilities, stunning view and staff who couldn't do enough. We would definitely go back. The only thing I'd change is that the food for a half board option is very expensive and should be priced a bit more reasonably. But overall we had a wonderful time.
Review 10:We initially booked a room in the annex that whilst big, was not to the same standard as the main building. It also had a children's playground in front that got noisy when in use. The hotel would also benefit from a separate bar.
Review 11:Wonderful views over Fowey and towards the sea, luxurious feel to the hotel, good restaurant.
Review 12:We had no idea that we were not in the main hotel but were in the'top' annexe. I had had an operation on my leg (ruptured tendon)only a couple of months previously, so the walk down to the main hotelwas quite an uncomfortable one for me as recovery is taking severalmonths. Looking at the booking forms we had no idea that we would havethis walk. Had I known we should have gone elsewhere.
Review 13:Dining facilities were good, and also comfortable lounge.
Review 14:I was dissappointed that I could not make an appointment in the Spa, maybe it should be mentioned that if you require an appt. it should be made at the time of booking.
Review 15:We were very happy with everything there was just one exception, in next box.
Review 16:Nothing
Review 17:Fabulous property set in wonderful grounds. Great facilities, and extremely helpful and engaging staff.
Review 18:Barking dog at 730am !
Review 19:Lumpy porridge
Review 20:Can't fault hotel or staff. Both excellent
Review 21:Wi fi not available in room

Review 24:The comfy bed! Wonderful view of the harbour
Review 25:Breakfast dining area far to hot.
Review 26:The food was very good, staff were excellent.
Review 27:The staff are extremely attentive without being intrusive . Excellent service & a lovely atmosphere . I'd highly recommend if you want to 'get away from it all'.
Review 28:Occasional screaming children no lift
Review 29:Gourmet standard food Superb view from bedroom Open log fires Excellent parking Sumptuous sofas in public area
Review 30:The restaurant evening menu was overpriced, the service in the restaurant especially for breakfast was very disorganised.
Review 31:The setting was lovely, the staff were friendly, the room was very good and so was the housekeeping.
Review 32:The only negative was that the staff on duty for breakfast were no where near as good as the rest.
Review 33:The overall service was excellent, relaxed, friendly but efficient.
Review 34:The furniture in the lounges were all very low so as I was recovering from surgery sitting was uncomfortable. The most comfortable seat was the piano stool. Some music would have been nice, there was a little music playing in some areas but it was very quiet.
Review 35:The food, pool, staff friendliness.
Review 36:Quite pricey. Dinner menu could do with more variety and the mains being bit more generous. The bistro (toad) menu was better sized!
Review 37:Beautiful building. We had a lovely room in the main building with a great view. Rooms and beds are very comfortable. Facilities for our 23 month old were excellent including childens tea which made being away with a little one very easy. We didn't use the crèche but would have done if we'd stayed longer. Baby listening was great as it gives parents the chance for freedom with dinner & a drink. Staff are a pretty young team who try really hard to make things work. Fowey is a lovely little town.
Review 38:The staff were all smiles, but felt that the level of service could have been better. Requests made weren't dealt with properly. Poor furniture in guest rooms, wardrobes too small, drawers not shutting, etc.
Review 39:The location was excellent, the spa was really good, treatments were excellent and so were the staff. The beds were really comfortable and the room sizes were really spacious. Enthusiastic staff. Loved taking the hotel dog, Brambles, for a walk!
Review 40:Dinner menu could have offered different meal options, not as appetizing as we wished for.
Review 41:The Fowey Hall hotel was amazing! The staff is attentive, friendly and very helpful. The suite was clean and comfortable every day of our stay. Children are welcome and provided recreational activities indoors and outdoors. Breakfast was wonderful, my girls miss Cherish, the greatest waitress! Overall our stay was amazing in this beautiful former Hanson mansion. Still maintaining it's character and 19th century charm. We will definitely visit again.

Review 54:The building and its location. The comfortable and relaxed environment in the hotel.
Review 55:Staff Attention to detail Facilities Child friendly Everything!!
Review 56:The dinner was very over priced for the quantity and quality
Review 57:Room furniture tired. bath cracked and plumbing poor. TV small for a de luxe room.
