Reviews for Grand Hôtel Nord-Pinus

Review 1:The location is in a popular highly trafficked square therefore noisy for Hotel guests.

Review 2:The staff was caring and responsive. Hotel had a great charm and the deluxe rooms are elegant and large.

Review 3:Location is good in that it is central - though difficult to drive to through very narrow roads - but the main issue was how noisy it was at night. Not the hotels fault - just a result of its location.

Review 4:The style and comfort of this hotel but especially the staff - they were so friendly and helpful.

Review 5:The room was very noisy until late and very, very early in the morning the cleaners move in and makes a huge noise. The was no luggage rack and no mirror in the room which is very poor for a four star hotel.

Review 6:The location was good

Review 7:Driving there is a nightmare in a maze of narrow, winding one-way streets. Basic breakfast is 18€ and has to be ordered the day before.

Review 8:Hotel has part of the forum within its structure. Lots of cafes and restaurants within 5 minutes walk. All the key tourist sites within 10 minutes walk.

Review 9:Value for money breakfast poor air conditioning not functioning properly

Review 10:Location the welcome help with baggage & parking. Evan fetched the car in the rain for us all staff(ladies) where very kind and helpful.

Review 11:The hotel was over-priced and over-rated: it has none of the amenities or comfort one should expect from a four-star hotel. The lack of a safety deposit box was a particular inconvenience. The hotel trades on past glory and its location in the throbbing Place du Forum. Although we requested a room away from the square, we did not anticipate noise from the kitchen, the alley behind the hotel, and the seemingly endless supply of bottles being dumped till 2:00 a.m. Sleep was further undermined by an uncomfortable bed, whose lumpy mattress gave me a lingering backache, and by the lack of shutters to block out the early-morning sun. Meals were over-priced: we ate better at other restaurants on the square. We had to resist pressure every day from pushy staff to eat breakfast and dinner in their restaurant.

Review 12:The location - though that generated problems of noise.

Review 13:It's to expensive don't decerve this price level compare with other 4 star hotels. No safe no minibar and the price for the breakfast is highly exaggerated;. This I agree with other guest.

Review 14:Nice old cosy typical French hotel with nice friendly staff. Location perfect , close to everything .

Review 15:Internet did not work or have a very poor comnection most of the time. If you are planning to work and need to send and receive emails or files choose another location. They don't have hair conditioner, and the hairdryer is bad.

Review 16:My room was on the second floor and had a nice open view, but the rooms of my colleagues in the first floor looked to a small street with other windows far too close. Air conditioning was great wihich is not a minor detail considering that the temperature was 33 celsius degrees.

Review 17:Nothing

Review 18:Loved this hotel. The location is outstanding and the decor is really quirky but very comfortable. It is an old hotel but full of character. Our room had a balcony that opened over the square. It was low season with few guests so the bar and the facilities were not lively.

Review 19:A little hard to drive to. The room was large but lacking amenities like a refrigerator or safe. Needed to walk down 2 steps to get to the bathroom, a safety issue.

Review 20:Good location nice staff large room

Review 21:Very charming hotel located in old part of Arles at the nice square. Extremely helpful staff - happy to suggest restaurant, local attractions, asking how everything was going. Very enjoyable stay!

Review 22:The hotel is perfectly located within walking distance of all the historical sites, and train and bus stations. It has an interesting history which is reflected in the decor. Our room was spacious, well equipped and comfortable. A variety of cafes and restaurants are nearby.

Review 23:Receptionists during the day should be replaced by friendly people. Looking at the price at what we booked, they said. Whats that kind of prices! Booking.com charges us x%. As if that's my fault.

Review 24:Nicely decorated with much taste

Review 25:We loved our room and the kindness of the staff and the owner, Anne. This is very much a place of understated elegance, true comfort and artistic history. It was beyond a pleasure.

Review 26:Not sure if I missed something in the hotel details but didnt expect to pay an extra 20 euros for a car park space in the hotel garage? Be careful ,if you forget to take anything you need out of the car you wont be able to get it until the next morning without inconveniencing the staff to get access to the "lock up"

Review 27:Loved the old world charm and charactor of the hotel. Staff friendly and helpful

Review 28:My only criticism is that I would have liked a feather pillow.

Review 29:We liked everything! but particularly sipping kir royal on the terrace with tapenade and crostini in the evening. The staff were lovely and made us feel very welcome. We would definitely go back again.

Review 30:Lovingly restored and gorgeously appointed. Hang out where Yves Montand, Ingrid Bergman and Simond Signoret rubbed shoulders with matador royalty. The staff was delightful, breakfast was perfect and the location is right in the middle of the most beautiful town in Provence

Review 31:Nothing really.

Review 32:The bed was amazing.....had a great nights sleep. It was a small but very comfortable room. Good quality products, and friendly staff. On arriving too early, offered a glass of champagne.

Review 33:I don't normally rant but....The first time I stayed here the frontdesk attendant was haughty-like some French schoolmarm and the owner wasmore distracted with her cigarette than providing a warm welcome (thatpart has not changed). Thankfully the desk has warmed up considerably.Breakfast while elegant is ridiculously priced. Hotel feels abandoned(2nd visit different time if the season same story) Public rooms, dining, shop, bar were empty and unstaffed. It simply had no life in thebeautiful rooms. The food in the hotel while pricey relative to itsneighbors is excellent...yet the service staff for dining was absolutelyone of the worst I have everencountered...curt...unprofessional...inept...not accommodating, glacially slow. We were first refused a table for dinner on the hotelterrace where we were already seated and settled for drinks and thenungraciously schlepped to the square only to be largely ignored, glassesempty, our orders coming out in random order at random times...thisexperience was a huge spoiler...I Have also stayed at the sister hotelin Tangier and experienced nothing like this.

Review 34:Gorgeous hotel with impeccable style...however....see the below caveat

Review 35:a bit noisy due to location on the square

Review 36:central location, walking distance to all the sights and the wonderful farm/textile market very friendly, helpful staff very nice bathroom

Review 37:It is very hard to find this hotel with GPS, and impossible to rich with a car The staff is not friendly and not helpful.

Review 38:Disorganised breakfast arrangement

Review 39:Uniqueness and quirky nature

Review 40:No evening food

Review 41:Centre of town

Review 42:DO NOT TRY TO DRIVE A RENTAL CAR TO THIS HOTEL. Arles town center is not car friendly and many of the streets are basically impassable

Review 43:Room was comfortable and bathroom spacious but bedroom itself a little small for the price charged and the photos on the internet

Review 44:Breakfast could have be3n included.....but no great problemm

Review 45:Great location, welcong friendly efficient staff.

Review 46:Not easy to drive to. Can be noisy at night.

Review 47:Excellent location and plenty of character. Hard working and enthusiastic staff.

Review 48:Best hotel in Arles, very stylish, central location. We had the 2 room apartment which has stunning views over the main square. Was sad to leave.

Review 49:the room (l'appartement), the pop up restaurant associated with the hotel the staff the atmosphere of this hotel

Review 50:there is only one bath room in the two rooms apartment which is not conveninent to use

Review 51:nice hotel staff

Review 52:Arles is a beautiful town full of atmosphere and the hotel also

Review 53:Very quiet, discreet hotel

Review 54:driving old town

Review 55:took car straight to garage

Review 56:Very classy.

Review 57:outside noise, no mirror in bedroom Bedroom chairs uncomfortable. Lack of storage No fridge Cost of breakfast

Review 58:location good, excellent shower

Review 59:Old world charm, and comfort. Manager and staff that truly care that you have a great stay, and will do all they can to make it so.

Review 60:Can be a bit noisy at night but a small price to pay for location.

Review 61:Very convenient location - in the heart of Arles. Staff were very helpful.

Review 62:It would have been good to have tea and coffee facilities in the room.

Review 63:The hotel staff were very attentive and helpful. The bathroom was first class.

Review 64:Great central location, hotel with style, very friendly reception staff (day and night)

Review 65:The staff was so nice and extremely helpful. My children loved the rooms.

Review 66:The woman behind the desk yelled at me when we arrived because we didn't advise them that we had a car that needed a parking facility. This was clearly my mistake which I apologized for, because the confirmation clearly stated that you need to advise the hotel ahead of time about cars. However, I felt like I was being scolded by my mother! or worse a school teacher! Who needs that? I apologized for my error but she didn't want to let it go. Eventually she calmed down and we moved on.

Review 67:chic hotel. loved the lobby and dining room, loved our room.

Review 68:Too often regional hotels like the Nord Pinus close their restaurant and bar facilities for one or two days per week. This is usually unannounced in the promotional literature and leaves the guests scrambling for a meal if they are not familiar with the region and it's accommodation conventions. It is over priced not to be offering 7 days a week full service.

Review 69:The hotel is well maintained and in a good location. The interior evokes the hotel's past glories even if the decoration is rather obvious and a cheap modern interpretation of the local bull fighting heritage

Review 70:the rooms are a little dark

Review 71:The staff (Emmanuelle) was wonderful with directions, booking suppers, etc. The room was comfortable (wish we had the Bullfighters Room) and the lobby is quaint.

Review 72:There shld be a desk in the room with chair for working on laptop

Review 73:The hotel is very charming ,done in old style The location is superb in Arles center The staff is very good, esp the old lady at the reception

Review 74:The lady at the front desk was nice enough but didn't go out of her way to be helpful. When we checked in iT was very cold and we tried to get the heat up. The lady told us just to turn the knob on the heater to high. Later that night someone else told us the heat had been turned off and he would direct the front desk to turn it back on. After that we got heat. The room seemed a bit expensive in comparison to the hotel we stayed in in Paris ( also booked through Booking.com. Breakfast was very expensive for what was offered. We went next door for petite dejeuner for 6.80 euro versus 18 euros in the hotel.

Review 75:The location

Review 76:Outstanding Ambince. As soon as you enter the Hotel, you feel in a different time. Almost as if meeting Hemmingway at the breakfast table wasnt a surprise

Review 77:Place du Forum was very noisy until late in the evening. There were no comfortable places to sit in the room. The hotel reflected Arles generally--happy to look a bit rundown and seedy.

Review 78:The staff were helpful. The location was both central and historical.

Review 79:The standard room is actually quite small but very nice. Go for asuperior standard if you can. Getting your car to the hotel will presenta challenge!...but once you do eventually navigate your way to the hotelthe staff will park your car for you in the garage which is about 100yards away. The reception staff are a mixed bag. Mostly very good butone lady seemed to look down on the guests...unless they were French andreturning to the hotel.

Review 80:Location in the centre of Arles is perfect to explore the town. Thehotel is immaculate and also a little bit left field which is great.

Review 81:The difficulty of getting to it, perhaps some better information on howto get the car there and the parking arrangements would be helpful. Itis also slightly expensive for the quality of the rooms.

Review 82:We loved the location close to the Roman ruins, the Van Gogh cafe andthe activity of the town. The historical and artistic connections of thehotel itself were also fascinating. The staff were full of character, friendly and spontaneously helpful.

Review 83:This hotel seems like it was once very grand in, say, the 1920s. It is still very beautiful, and I think the management is working towards returning it to that long-lost era of elegance and excitement. We were only there for about 18 hours, so I can't give a fuller review. We didn't eat our meals there, for example, but I would have liked to ... it looked tempting. It's perfectly, centrally located and the staff was very considerate, friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.

Review 84:They charged more than the tariff confirmed by email from Booking.com. and then double booked my room on the last night... requiring me to change hotels at the last minute. The overbooking was handled very unprofessionally with staff entering my room and packing up my things [without my consent] while I was out on a tour. When I returned to my room someone else was in there and my luggage and personal effects were nowhere to be seen. In a panic... I returned to reception who gave me a lame excuse about some sort of mix up and that they had arranged for me to stay at another hotel. There was no apology... although they did offer me dinner at their establishment as compensation... which naturally I refused. I would not stay at this hotel if it was the last one on the planet. The management is dishonest... unethical... and extremely unprofessional.

Review 85:Location.

Review 86:outside noise can be heard in the room (no insulated glazing); some facilities missing (minibar); breakfast rather poor for the price; in general alll a bit "past glory" style with price/quality not very attractive

Review 87:great location, very centrally located; very nice room, looking old but refurbished where necessary

Review 88:The price of 175 euros per night was very high for the room we were staying in. It was very small, a concrete floor in the bathroom with no tiles( maintenance work) and a leaking bath (v slippy floors). One other niggle for me was no mirror in the bedroom. I guess you are paying for the location and history of the hotel. It was noisy at night especially over Friday and Saturday with people heading home from the square. Breakfast again I felt was extortionate at 22 Euros each for the usual suspects of a boiled egg, basket of bread, yoghurt and tea. All in all it was a lovely weekend and the experience of staying here was very romantic and would be ideal for a weekend getaway or honeymoon. It is not for the prudent and there are MANY other much more reasonably priced hotels in the same area that are equally as historic and charming.

Review 89:It was beautifully positioned in Place de Forum which has a lively selection of cafes and restaurants. You are 5 minute walk through the intriguing narrow and winding streets of Arles to most of the tourist attractions like amphitheatre and Place de la Republique. The hotel has a long and interesting history which is featured throughout the lobby with pictures, letters and stories of past guests. The decor is marmite, you will love or hate it. A real mish mash of varied artwork adds to the character and ambience of this boutique hotel. Staff were so helpful, friendly and patient especially if you were keen to practise your French.

Review 90:The room is a little bit small.

Review 91:The location is wonderful. The outside is the Von goh cafe.

Review 92:Expensive breakfast

Review 93:Great location - helpful staff

Review 94:Nothing it was all good!

Review 95:Gin and tonic on our own private terrace overlooking the roofs fantastic!

Review 96:Room was a bit small. Not 4 star status.

Review 97:Very friendly and helpful staff. Homely atmosphere. Excellent location.

Review 98:Young staffs are really nice, the old lady is giving a lil bit frenchattitudes.

Review 99:Cozy, vintage. Great location, great value of money

Review 100:breakfast for € 16,50 is just too expensive; like the room (double) for € 180,00 per night.

Review 101:friendly staff, tasteful interieure, very central location

Review 102:Location great overlooking a terrace of eateries. Staff very helpful. Rooms nice and big for all luggage.

Review 103:they forgot to bring us tea in the room when requested. the cost did not represent value for money

Review 104:atmosphere, the staff, cleanliness, decor,

Review 105:Individuality and location

Review 106:A little expensive perhaps.

Review 107:The hotel and rooms are fantastic

Review 108:the hotel is a must in the city the staff is excellent . we love everything in our staying here. from the desk to the housekeeping every was perfect

Review 109:Hard to get to by car, odd parking arrangements, no tea or coffee facilities in the room.

Review 110:Great Location, Interesting Decor

Review 111:I absolutely loved the whole thing about teh hotel and everything itoffered especially teh staff and location

Review 112:Position in the centre of Arles. Nice old fashioned French Hotel.
