Reviews for Les Berceaux
Review 1:The room is very romantic. It is decorated with antiques, has a very large bathroom with a soaking tub and spacious shower. Breakfast is included and includes eggs, meats, cheese, croissant, and jams. They have a refrigerator with complimentary beer, soft drinks and bottled water. It is a small boutique hotel, more like a B&B, in a historic building on a pedestrian walkway. A really wonderful place.
Review 2:The shower in the first room we given was full of black mold. The front desk clerk in the afternoon was a bit surly when we asked for a new room. The day desk lady was very sweet and helpful.
Review 3:We liked the location.
Review 4:We were not asked if we would like to reserve a table for our evening meal, restaurant was full that evening so had to eat elsewhere.
Review 5:Excellent restaurant.
Review 6:The room was pretty average with not much space. The facilities in the room need major renovation. For example, the bath was chipped in several places. Parking is a major problem at any time save for a Sunday.
Review 7:Dinner on Friday evening. Breakfast was OK but not spectacular.
Review 8:A bedside light didn't work and the front desk staff weren't that interested and didn't offer an apology. The shower panel had no seal at the bottom and so it leaked a lot until I stuck a towel between it and the top of the bath
Review 9:The Gastronomique restaurant
Review 10:The hotel needs a renovation. The decor is tired and the facilities are worn. It is not 3-star standard, more like 2-star. Breakfast is very expensive and not good value.
Review 11:Parking is a bit hit and miss, with metered spaces close by, but sometimes hard to find a spot - not ideal if you have lots of luggage to move. Rooms were extremely hot (summer night) with no a/c.
Review 12:Quiet hotel, well located in the centre of Epernay - easy to find. Nice breakfast.
Review 13:The room was unbearably hot and had no air conditioning. The staff were indifferent to this. The restaurant was closed Wednesday and Thursday from 1sy July until 31st August. We stayed on a Wednesday and had been looking forward to eating these as it was a feature of the hotel. The closure was described as exceptional but it was completely unacceptable that we were not made aware of this before our stay. We would have made alternative arrangements.
Review 14:The hotel was well located in the centre of Epernay
Review 15:Some of the rooms are better than others. This time our room was a small one with adequate but elderly plumbing. As it was very hot the room was very stuffy. It was also noisy.
Review 16:My parents stayed at IBIS and for the same price you have air conditioning. The heat in the room was too intense. Lift is extremely small, and corridor as well not easy to manoeuvre.
Review 17:The staff is really great, smiling, here to help you, very kind.
Review 18:Definitely a restaurant before a hotel. The rooms were outdated and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. The restaurant was severely in need of updated decor as well...
Review 19:Great location. Ate at the restaurant and had a lovely meal.
Review 20:It Is a very average place, even below average. Compared to the two restaurants associated with the hotel, which are amazing, the hotel is very disappointing.
Review 21:We wanted to like the hotel but the rooms were very small and hard to move around in. We found trash still in our room as if it was not cleaned thoroughly...... overall a very unpleasant stay. The small street it is on is often used and noisy. The price of the room was not a bargain for what we got. Not sure why this is a 3 star hotel. Two would be more accurate. Also note: in times of warm weather, there is NO AIR FLOW (we were not expecting air conditioning)...... so when staying in the summer....avoid......
Review 22:No aircon so we kept the door open which can be noisy especially early in the morning.
Review 23:Good value for money. Rooms not bigger than they need to be but perfectly adequate.
Review 24:The lack of air conditioing or at least a fan for ventilation made it difficult to get a good night's rest. The beds are also very uncomfortable... Need new mattresses.
Review 25:Great location and superb restaurants!
Review 26:No private car park. Paying parking in street outside so need to keepfeeding the meter ( though very cheap). Walls a bit thin so noisyneighbours can be annoying, but mostly v good.
Review 27:Convenient for centre ville. A little bit basic, more a ' restaurantwith rooms' than a posh hotel. One Michelin star and very good food.Staff friendly. Bathrooms a bit basic and tired.
Review 28:We were looking forward to having dinner at the restaurant, but came in to a horrifying smell of frying fish oil that permeated the reception, as well as our room -- for the next 24 hours. The restaurant appears to be very popular and we regret not being able to dine there because of the bad smell.
Review 29:Definitely in the right location, clean and efficient.
Review 30:Pillows were a little lacking in depth
Review 31:Excellent hotel. The position was easy access to everything car park just around the corner. The meal in the hotel restaurant was fabulous good idea to book. Breakfast was continental croissants were excellent. Wifi was free
Review 32:The twin room had just one very soft pillow for each bed. I had to fold mine in half, a friend used clothes to increase the pillow depth.
Review 33:It's central location in Epernay, plus free wifi.
Review 34:None
Review 35:Great location- within walking distance of champagne houses. Friendly helpful staff. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Restaurant excellent food and service. Value for money- reasonable price.
Review 36:The rooms are a little cramped.
Review 37:Les Berceaux is a small hotel in the centre of Epernay with a fantastic Michelen starred restaurant, which is great value for money. I'd thoroughly recommend it for a short break in the Champagme region.
Review 38:We had a room on the first floor right next to the stairs and lift which meant we were kept awake by the noise of the restaurant and people coming and going, the floor was freezing, and there was a leaking pipe in the toilet so the floor was nearly always wet.
Review 39:The location was excellent.
Review 40:No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Accomodation level smelled a bit like drains and decor very tired and dated. Accomodation clearly secondary to restaurant business, but was adequate and functional.
Review 41:Staff very friendly and helpful. Ground floor and restaurant decor lovely and food was excellent, would go back for the food definitely, but would perhaps stay somewhere else.
Review 42:The reception lady was unhelpful and rude on arrival and also subsequently. Very poor front desk. The Michelon Michelin starred restaurant was disgusting. The food was less than basic, using bottled sauces, simple dishes of home standard, but more poorly done and presented....and hardly Michelin starred! Towels thin and small. Just not worth going to !
Review 43:Just the location. The room was quaint and basic, two star quality.
Review 44:The room smelled like it had been shut up for months, felt like it had not been properly cleaned. The wallpaper was ripped and the bedcover was stained. Bed was uncomfortable. The man at the front desk was supercilious and unpleasant.
Review 45:The lobby had obviously been redone, and seemed very pleasant, we were shocked at the state of the room. My husband and I chose this hotel because it was in town...BIG MISTAKE
Review 46:Bed very uncomfortable . Front desk Staff not friendly. Parking was in the street Had to drive around for half an hour to find a park.
Review 47:Food & staff in restaurant .
Review 48:Friendly staff, well stocked breakfast, close to shops and market. Bistro has an excellent menu but you should treat yourselves to the main restaurant while staying there. Extensive wine menu with reasonable costs for Champagne. Patrick Michelon, his wife and his staff ensured that we had wonderful time.
Review 49:Restaurant quite expensive for the quality. Strange beef stroganoff with no cream sauce or rice and single piece of meat with plain pasta, Bizarre? Restaurant Staff aloof. Reception staff friendly and helpful No parking
Review 50:good position near to centre. Rooms tidy and fairly modern
Review 51:Exceptionally noisy street woke on and off throughout the night. There may be some inner rooms but...
Review 52:Nice position on edge of town with easy access to grand marque houses. Good food in keeping with Mich star rating, but not exceptional and ugly silent restaurant so intimidated from talking (almost)
Review 53:The fact that the breakfast was €12 on top of the room rate. Bed very uncomfortable.
Review 54:Good value for money and located in the town centre. Very smart inside.
Review 55:Nothing to dislike
Review 56:Excellent welcome after very early start from Caen. Go here for the food. It is superb, and wine list excellent too. Room clean and comfortable, if a '70's time warp, but accommodation was cheap. We were treated like house guests by our very genial hosts.
Review 57:- On our reservation we asked for a double bed, but we were given two separate beds placed against eachother. - The shower was in a bathtub without a shower curtain, thus taking a shower wasn't comfortable and ended up in drying the complete floor of the flooded bathroom.
Review 58:- Excellent location, right in the middle of the town, close to a large public parking lot. - Good comfort level. - Great restaurant. - Friendly and helpful personnel
Review 59:Terrible pillows, shower over bath, broken soap dish in wall, needs smartening but not expensive
Review 60:The Bistro was excellent, staff charming and excellent parking on the street opposite with meter.
Review 61:Paying for Wifi (9.90 eur for 24 hours!) is a cost people should nothave to bear in this day and age. Consider this if it's importantfor you and perhaps pay more to go elsewhere. Wifi is important to us aswe research our holidays on the go, so would go elsewhere in future.
Review 62:Great location for walking around Epernay. Pleasant and friendly stafftoo. Room was not modern but it was adequate, clean and we had greatsleeps when we were there. Great stay besides the wifi (see what Ididn't like).
Review 63:Busy (road) city/town centre and although we weren't in Le Mans the local boyz obviously thought they were! Kitchen extractors added to the noise! Tad pricey but hey! This is Epernay!
Review 64:Food was excellent, chef happily accomodated my fussy eater son! Resulted in him shaking Chef's hand! Room did what it said on the tin, Ideal centre location for shops and walking distance to tasting houses
Review 65:The welcome at reception was rather cool (not rude but not very friendly). The room was very small, facing the road with no air conditioning. It was a pity there was no garden to enjoy on such a warm evening.
Review 66:A convenient position, it was clean and comfortable. The restaurant (No 7-bistro) offered a good value dinner menu and was delicious.
Review 67:The rooms were very small & stuffy. It is functional in that you don't want to spend too long in your room, which means more time drinking champagne & eating lovely food!
Review 68:The location as you can walk around Epernay
Review 69:No hot water at all during first day, first night and morning of second day. No discount and a bit of hassle from Reception when friends moved to a better hotel.
Review 70:Central location Most things were reasonable
Review 71:It is a basic, small room which was adequate but I expected a bit more quality for the price.
Review 72:Location was good with nearby metered parking. ok if you ar not leaving your car during the day. Resteraunt is recomended and breakfast was pleasant.
Review 73:See above
Review 74:Location. Breakfast an extra so expensive. Not that much choice. Room bare minimum. Complementry bottles of water in room would have been nice. Parking awful.
Review 75:It was very cold inside our soom and the bed plankets very really poor and old.
Review 76:Location was good.
Review 77:the service at the restaurant was far too long, 3 hours to get 3 courses !
Review 78:The capital of champagne! * in Guide Michelin Very lovely town proud of their product. The best Avenue in the world
Review 79:When we arrived they only had a twin room even though we booked a double. The walls r thin and very noisy in the morning.
