Reviews for Hôtel du Musée
Review 1:No complaints.
Review 2:Beautiful spacious room with comfortable bed & lots of storage. Great shower. Wonderful breakfast in lovely dining room. Large flat screen TV. Centrally located. Pleasant staff. Courtyard with tables & chairs outside our room. Quiet.
Review 3:The location is right in the heart of the tourist area and yet it was quiet and very comfortable. We were always able to find a parking place close by.
Review 4:Only thing I could fault is that there was no exhaust fan in the toilet, but this was really not an issue.
Review 5:The room is in a beautiful old mansion, with lovely, leafy courtyard areas to relax in. The staff were very helpful, the breakfast was hearty and good value, and best of all the hotel is in 'centre ville' (in the heart of town), so walking distance from most museums, galleries and restaurants. Highly recommended.
Review 6:No lift in this hotel... SO hard to carry a heavy luggage to the room. The staires was very narrow and steeply. We were just women's group but the guy at the front didn't mention that and no even tried to help us. Just gave us the room key and gone somewhere... Seriously?
Review 7:Good location. Easy to access everywhere including to the station. Large room with clean bathroom.
Review 8:Loads of character with very helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfasts too. Only downside was no lift, but we knew about that and were quite able to cope.
Review 9:*Starkness of interior- room and stairway; *Breakfast was mediocre; *Getting there thru closed access road was a surprise and it wasn't at all clear what to do; *Parking wasa challenge ; *We didn't mind the 62 steps to room 29 cuz we're on exercise regimin ; some folks might find it tough , particularly w/ no help w/ luggage.
Review 10:Location; Friendliness of manager and cleaning person;
Review 11:I was given a choice between a room overlooking the streeet or overlooking the courtyard. Might have chosen the street (little traffic) had I known the other was basically a maid's room from the past up two flights of stairs.
Review 12:Pleasant, attentive staff. Attractive old building. Enjoyable, convenient buffet breakfast, even if over-priced at 8.50 euros a day. Easy walking distance to all the sights and to station and free bus to antiquities museum.
Review 13:They didn't tell us in advance where to park or how to get discount parking you have to walk with your luggage quite a ways across cobblestone to get to the hotel. the reception wasn't warm no such thing as a double bed -it's 2 twins with a sheet a across
Review 14:Great location.
Review 15:50 steep steps up to our room from the ground floor - ok for twice a day for someone with knee problems. But when they forgot to supply bath towels we were expected to go down again to get them, (up, down and up again 150 steps) no-one came up with them. The bath had no grab handles. If you wanted to use the shower you had to hold it and we put a hand towel in the bath to stand on because it felt dangerously slippery. There was plenty of room in the nice big bathroom for a good separate shower. The two double beds were a lovely size with good linen, but we found them to be rather hard.
Review 16:Excellent location within a very short walk of all the things we wanted to see, and very good restaurants nearby. Pretty courtyard, not so great when it was raining though. Friendly owners and nice welcome. Very good wifi. Surprised it was only two stars.
Review 17:Tea/coffee making facilities in room would be useful.
Review 18:Great location, easy to walk everywhere and walking distance from railway station. Lovely old property, well kept property; room and bathroom were very clean and although small, was comfortable. Pretty courtyards and a nice breakfast.
Review 19:Shower is tiny even by European standards. Impossible not to get a lot of water on the floor, so that was disappointing. Parking is remote from the hotel, so don't plan to jump in and out of the car. Essential to check-in before 8:00PM to get car in parking garage.
Review 20:Unique old building. Room was larger than many in France. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Location is central in old town Arles. Breakfast above average continental. Lovely courtyard for breakfast.
Review 21:A little awkward to approach by car (certainly acceptable given the prime location).
Review 22:Lovely breakfasts on the terrace. Wifi that truly works. Great location. Charming building.
Review 23:The presence of mosquito and insects is unwelcomed
Review 24:Excellently located, though we had not been able to get through the restricted alley on first arrival, we were quickly attended to and drove through to off load at the entrance. The car was then taken care of without any trouble.
Review 25:No parking place but it's not a problem, the free parking isavailable within 5 minutes walking distance.
Review 26:Loccation is perfect! Very nice room (big and comfortable beds). Thebreakfast and Wi-Fi were good too.
Review 27:Nothing. Location of hotel was great. We enjoyed the breakfast. Wifi worked great.
Review 28:The owners were so helpful and accommodating when we arrived earlier than check-in time. They held our luggage and parked our car so that we could get a start on exploring the city and market. It was a welcome break from traffic and parking difficulties.
Review 29:Great courtyard to sit in for a great breakfast. Lovely room. Easy walking from station. In a lovely spot. Great staff. Absolutely recommend this hotel.
Review 30:The hotel is tucked in narrow streets near the waterside. It is tricky to find and essential to book the hotel car parking facility. The host lowers the street barrier so you can pull up at the hotel entrance for unloading and then guides you to their car park. The entrance and reception area open on to a lovely courtyard filled with plants and flowers and steps go up to a charming patio. The hotel is quite an age and until recently has belonged to the same family through generations. It carries that historic feel in the public areas while being up to date with furnishings and equipment in the comfortable room. The location is brilliant for walking the city to all the major historic sites. Breakfast in the courtyard was very nice with good quality coffee. A very pleasant stay and good value.
Review 31:The room was spacious, bright and had a bath tub!! Location within the old historical part of town is stunning and close to everything. A ten minute walk to/from the train station along the river bank is SO CONVENIENT.
Review 32:Nothing but as location is in old city parking is away from hotel. We followed hotel recommendation and parked in des Halles first then walked about 8 mins but you must Goggle walking route before arrival.
Review 33:Wonderful hosts and could not do enough. Well appointed room with everything. Great breakfast and coffee all day. Lovely private garden with small, pool.
Review 34:Nothing...
Review 35:Location next to Rhone river and in the heart of old town Arles. Quaint and beautiful. Staff is kind. Breakfast is excellent as well! We've stayed there twice and will stay there again if we ever get back to Arles!
Review 36:The stairs are difficult if you have much luggage. Arrival is confusing because of the coded post access.
Review 37:The location is very good, close to all attractions and the old city center and the river. The courtyards are very pleasant. Staff very friendly and attentive...speak good English.
Review 38:Hotel du Musee offers a convenient location in old Arles. It's patio - courtyards are charming. Staff was helpful with baggage up and down three narrow set of stairs (Argh! ), but some modernization is in order as everything seemed just a little too musty in my room. The late night and early morning street noise meant windows had to be closed.
Review 39:The only not so good part of our stay was the hotel had no available private parking spots left. We had to park the car in the public car park, which didn't feel quite as secure and was a few minutes walk away.
Review 40:Beautiful hotel in the centre of Old Arles,Convenient stop over location. We spent 5 nights here. Enjoyed every minute. Nice helpful staff, spacious rooms, beautiful courtyard to enjoy the buffet breakfast, convenient not only to the old town of Arles, but many other nearby sites. Lots more good things to say. Very pleasant stay indeed.
Review 41:The stairs but they were a necessary compromise for the fact that the hotel was in such an old building - and that is what we came for.
Review 42:You were staying in the midst of the historical part of Arles. The staff were very helpful. The building itself had great charm and antiquity.
Review 43:Difficult to access with a car. Need a code to enter the area which didn't always work. Apparently there will be more of these access points in the future. Very narrow driving streets- the old town.
Review 44:Large room. Lovely gardens and breakfast room. Great staff. Able to walk to any restaurants etc.
Review 45:All was good. Book early since there are li,ited rooms.
Review 46:The quiet neighborhood was great. Good brakfast and a accomodating staff The hotel is close to the train station but far enough away that you cannot hear the trains. Only a fifteen minute level walk from one to another. One should stqrt with the archqeology museum before any other attraction. It will explain much of the other sites to see.
Review 47:Difficult to use shower/bathtub facility for older guests
Review 48:Ambience, good breakfast, wifi, comfortable beds
Review 49:Nothing
Review 50:The ambiance. The frendly staff and breakfast.
Review 51:Wifi very poor reception in room. Hard bed with rubber under sheet.
Review 52:Great position and parking good
Review 53:Spacious room Very helpful and courteous staff. Wonderful breakfasts Spacious leisure areas to meet fellow travelers
Review 54:Hotel with a character, good service, nice breakfast, convenient location
Review 55:walking up stairs a few floors
Review 56:Very French
Review 57:We have stayed here before and found it just as delightful, friendly, clean and convenient this year as last.
Review 58:Very hard to find it by car - streets locked for cars.
Review 59:Interesting decoration and architecture, in the middle of the old town.
Review 60:Small room
Review 61:Central location. Friendly staff
Review 62:Shower too small
Review 63:The breakfast
Review 64:Location, staff very friendly, clean,
Review 65:Steps, no air in the annex.

Review 69:lovely accomodations and great location
Review 70:Lovely helpful staff. Perfect location to the town.
Review 71:I didn't can swim in Arles
Review 72:The terrace for breakfast is fantastic, the staff in the hostal very kind
Review 73:Not for older people, there is no lift.
Review 74:Charming hotel in beautiful place.
Review 75:This beautiful rustic hotel is perfectly situated to see all the attractions on Arles. The courtyard is wonderful to sit and eat breakfast.
Review 76:Nothing.
Review 77:Very central, within walking distance of the main tourist sites. Picturesque, nicely decorated. Lovely patio for al fresco breakfasts.
Review 78:None
Review 79:Smell of Jasmine everywhere
Review 80:A little piece of paradise! Flowers everywhere! Serene & joyful atmosphere!
Review 81:Loved the room size, the courtyards, the breakfast. All superb.
Review 82:Better that expectations
Review 83:Friendly couple who own the hotel were very friendly and helpful. They assisted with parking, which may be difficult to find.
Review 84:location! friendliness
Review 85:Welcome, ambience and pleasant surroundings
Review 86:my room was a little dark. Bed is not necessarily comfortable.
Review 87:It is a clean hotel with historical value. Staff is friendly, location is good.
Review 88:Very friendly staff, and very good 2 stars hotel. Clean room.
Review 89:Location, character, breakfast, courtyard
Review 90:No elevator
Review 91:Great location, cosy internal terrases (great for smokers)
Review 92:Not about the hotel but driving in the city was difficult after certain hours because the road blockers were raised and you need to enter a security code to clear the blocker. I ended up circulating around the hotel one evening without being able to get to the hotel. But the owner came to our rescue on a motor cycle and led us into the hotel. Super hero!!
Review 93:The owners were very helpful and friendly. Breakfasts were good and the courtyard was very cozy and pretty. The owner parked our car in a secured parking garage and brought the car out for us. Restaurants were just few steps away. I found the hotel fairly easy although I had seen review comments that it is difficult to locate. It is right next to museums. Very good value for the money.
Review 94:I found the location to be very good, both for the railway station, and the town. I was a solo traveller, and I found the hotel very welcoming, cosy, a home from home feeling. I particularly loved the courtyard, the eating place for breakfast, in that it felt very French, a lovely central place to relax, and meet other guests. Yes, I would recommend this hotel.
Review 95:The beds weren't super comfortable, but that's sort of the story everywhere in Europe. :)
Review 96:The location was outstanding! Right in the heart of town, across the street from an excellent art museum and within walking distance to all the major tourist attractions. The updated shower and sink were nice in the room.
Review 97:Good location in the center, the historical building is tastefully kept up to date, the design overall and the scent of yasmine in the courtyard. Friendly service of the owners, including the valet parking of our car by the owner personally.
Review 98:Very old building and air condition did not work. Way to the room was over a terries .. you get wet when it rains. Parking was too fare from the hotel.
Review 99:Simple but clean describes this Hotel the best.
Review 100:Wi-Fi didn't work except in certain locations of hotel that it seemed we were never in!
Review 101:The hotel was beautiful and beautifully located in the heart of Provence.
Review 102:The hotel and staff are charming. Well located in Arles, lovely setting, well appointed. We were a family of four & the family room was perfect. Great breakfast. Pretty courtyard. Very quiet & pleasant
Review 103:If you stay in the second floor rooms be aware that there is no lift, and you carry your own suitcases. This was more than made up for by staying in a building with such history.
Review 104:Loved the location in the old town. Really old building of character. Good Continental breakfast and coffee each day.
Review 105:Very welcoming owners and staff. Very helpful. Delicious continental breakfasts. Very handy to all sights of Arles easy walk from train station and to river cruise port. Lots of restaurants and shopping close by. A delightful olde worlde hotel and we warmly recommend it to fit travellers.
Review 106:Not one single solitary thing. It was everything we hoped for in Arles and more. Would go back on an instant....I can smell the baguettes still... PS.. if you rent a car, do like we did.....park it in a side street ten minutes walk away and just leave it....we moved ours once for the sake of the residents on that street though.
Review 107:This is an absolutely marvelous place to stay if you are interested in walking the city, being in an antique building, getting a real taste of Provence, and trying out your French phrase book! There are so many lovely sitting rooms inside and out, in corners and beneath rose bushes, it made us want to stop waling Arles a while and curl up with a good book and a cafe au lait......
Review 108:1) WLAN to be revised .. too poor, it's impossible to work with it (needed a repeater for the 2nd floor) 2) Shower space ... considerably reduced space by water blender (unconfortable) 3) Only a little soap as body wash (no shampoo, only a little sample useless) 4) no free wall electrical outlet available ... 5) Breakfast, only one Croissant pro person ... not bad for a 8,5€ continental breakfast! :(
Review 109:1) Pillows 2) Night tranquillity 3) Hotel position
Review 110:Breakfast coffee in a vacuum jug wasn't very good but they offered a freshly made double expresso instead.
Review 111:Location excellent in a quiet street opposite a museum. A nice very old stone building with character. Pleasant staff, good buffet breakfast. Attractive simple room.
Review 112:If you are driving, be aware that the old town has narrow streets andtight turns. Large vehicles can be a nuisance. Make sure you have gooddirections to the hotel if you are driving. It is easy to make the wrongturns. There is restricted access to the street where the hotel issituated. Be aware that you will have to get the hotel to drop theaccess barrier for you. You can call them on your cel phone, walk 20meters up the street to their reception or let the next person in linebehind you punch in the access code if they know it. It is a bit of anannoyance for everyone.
Review 113:The hotel has very interesting character. The courtyard is very nice ona warm day. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast selectionis very good and worth the price. It is well situated for walking aroundthe old town.
Review 114:Hotel du Musee is located in the inner city of Arles just a 5 minute walk from the river. You do want to get the code to lower the the pylon before you arrive so you can drive right up to the hotel. Once you unload your luggage, your car is parked for you. You can get your car again anytime you want. All the sites are an easy walk from the hotel. The hotel itself has beautiful tiled courtyards and is very comfortable with very friendly and helpful staff. We did have to go to the lobby for our computer to get online but our Kindle was able to get online in the room.
Review 115:Staff is pleasant but a bit reserved - no problem with English if you donot speak French. The gate code changed on Monday and they forgot totell us which was a hassle trying to get back to the hotel later thatday ... remember to ask after the weekend for the new code.
Review 116:Well run hotel with a great location - not easy to find and need a gatecode to get your car to the hotel (a couple of streets in Arles requirea code to access). Park close temporarily and walk to the desk or callbefore you get there. They will park and retrieve it for 10 euros/nightin their garage but you need to reserve this in advance or plan to findstreet parking. Once you know where it is driving in and out of Arles toLes Baux, St Remy, etc is easy. Great location in Arles and a verystylish little place for the price. A pretty substantial breakfast for areasonable price. Simple but comfortable room. We were very happy therefor 3 nights.
Review 117:Atmosphere, comfort, living in an ancient dwelling with mod. cons. Unforgettable time walking 1-2 minutes to the river bank, sipping French wine eating baguettes and cheese. Trying out the acoustics at the local Roman amphitheatre, walking the rounds of the roman arena, almost getting lost in the underground Roman Forum"cryptoportiques" all within 5 minutes walk. What more can I say? Not to mention the Constantine's Baths which we walked down ;so well-preserved, and thirty seconds from the Hotel Musee. A quiet oasis after the busyness of Paris. Not to be missed.
Review 118:The only negative point was that wi-fi in our room did not work. Hotelmanagement recognized that there was a technical problem, but they wereunable to fix it during our stay. It did however work in the lobby.
Review 119:An excellent price/quality ratio choice! A small, clean and tastefullydecorated hotel at the hurt of Arles. Ideally situated to discover thetown and the surrounding region. Very friendly and professional staff.Very good service.
Review 120:Worn out slightly dirty bedspeads and blankets. Was reluctant to use.
Review 121:Loved the castle like feeling , helpul staff, petit dejeuner breakfasts, hot showers and convenient location.
Review 122:Can't think of a single thing!
Review 123:Marvellous in all respects - a real slice of history. Ambience fantastic. Modernised, but very tasteful. Excellent breakfast. Location was close to cafes and tourist sites, but quiet.
