Reviews for Posada de Palacio

Review 1:Although the hotel has heaps of style and interest guests looking for plush comfort will be disapointed since the rooms although spacious are not sumptiously decorated.

Review 2:Loved this place for it's style and atmosphere. We stayed at a quiet time of year so the place was a little empty but lovely peaceful environment with rooms set off courtyards and very groovy restatuant bar area.

Review 3:if there was a way to reserve the parking it would be perfect!

Review 4:we love this hotel for its unique design and old fashioned big rooms, with marble bathrooms. the value for money is extremely good! it is at least the third time we come and we will just return again.

Review 5:had to change rooms due to electric fault but was done with ease and help from the staff

Review 6:tremendous old building in the barrio alto a bit away from the complete tourist trappings

Review 7:Cleaning of floor in bedroom needs to be improved, also important to anticipate that no elevator and several stairs to reach some rooms. Not a difficulty in our case but for more aged people important to take into account.

Review 8:Amazing location and beautiful building and interiors.

Review 9:Electricity in the room stopped working in the night and the staff didn't seem particularly bothered when we reported it in the morning. No apology. At this price, would hope to be able to have a shower with the light on or at least some gesture of apology!

Review 10:The traditional rambling building, beautiful courtyards and antique furnishings. Location up in the old town near the castle and old bodegas.

Review 11:staff does not speak english, brochure of Sanlucar de Barrameda not very useful

Review 12:we liked the quiet location at the times of the "feira" (Corpus Christi festivities)

Review 13:Not suitable if travelling by car - its up a steep, winding hill and has no on site parking.

Review 14:It is a converted palace. Our room was huge with separate seating area through an archway. It also had outdoor seating in the courtyard. Beautiful old building and excellent value.

Review 15:Bedroms could do with a little upgrading in terms of furniture. It would be nice to have a fridge and kettle available. Also the location means you need to climb up the hill every time to return!

Review 16:Lovely traditonal old entrance area and large stylish common room. Bed comfortable. Good soundproofing. Nice window with balcony.

Review 17:Parking was a big problem. We had to pay 15 euros to park 600m from the hotel, we hadn't expected that from other reviews. Staff were a bit surly.

Review 18:Lovely large room with a nice balcony. Large comfortable bed

Review 19:No wifi in room and hotel was situated at the top of a hill. Restaurants were at the bottom of the hill and along the river. Room although nice was on the ground floor off a courtyard so no natural light.

Review 20:Hotel's ambiance and large well appointed room. Because of the hotel's location we could not take advantage of the town's many restaurants so ended up eating at the hotel which was actually quite good.

Review 21:No real wifi, sometimes could be slow service on reception, but were helpful. No fridge or kettle in the room.

Review 22:Great room with character and air con, spacious with lovely furnishings around the central courtyard and reception area. Walkable to a local square with tapas bars and 15 or so minutes to bus station / 20 to the beach.

Review 23:Loved it all! Only downside is the parking problem...no car park ,but if you head for the Castle (which is only 5 minutes walk away),there is plenty of free parking there.

Review 24:Lovely historic, old place in a good location. Our room was enormous and beautifully furnished .Lots of nooks and crannies to sit outside and enjoy a drink fro the bar! Didn't have breakfast ,but there are some lovely little bars/restaurants 2 minutes away in a little Plaza. Staff friendly and helpful too!

Review 25:A bit drafty and breakfast rooms unheated but then we took our breakfast up onto one of the sun filled terraces and indulged in the morning light. What it would have been like if it was raining???

Review 26:Beautiful palace with a warren of rooms and facilities. Magnificent rooms with over the top space and really comfortable furniture including the bed!

Review 27:The only gripe we have is the breakfast..the selection was poor, ham, cheese, bread, preserve and hot drinks..we would of appreciated some cereal, fresh fruit and yoghurt.

Review 28:A beautiful old and interesting building..fabulous generous rooms, perfect location for the centre

Review 29:Lack of tourist information, maybe because we stayed there October 2014. No bar or restaurant facilities. Don't be put off as just around the corner....

Review 30:Adored the antique Spanish decor, it was stunning. Terraces, roof gardens were warm & inviting. Exploding persimmons could be a hazard! Location is beside the Ducal Palace with the town centre a mere 92 steps away. Down was better than up! Staff were very friendly and our accommodation consisted of a living room, a bedroom and a bathroom. All impeccable and spacious and comfortable.Must also mention that around the corner are a series of great bars, in particular Bar Conejeo(?). Best coffee in town and best Octopus I have ever tasted. Well worth a visit. The whole experience was amazing.

Review 31:limited parking and wifi only in the lobby

Review 32:the old charme of the place with its fantastic patios and large rooms, with big bathrooms; the kindness of staff

Review 33:The staff are not very friendly. No information given on when or where breakfast served. No info on where to eat, or map of town offered. The place looked run down since last time we visited.

Review 34:The old rooms are beautiful.

Review 35:We reserved a specific room with description and pictures but they gave us another room with no charm and spirit and without any apologizes... So don't trust the pictures on your confirmation paper... That was a bad experience for us!

Review 36:The terrasse on the roof is great.

Review 37:Stayed during the horse racing festival, and there was a lot of street noise in our room at the front of the hotel . Not the responsibility of the hotel of course, as the street is generally quiet. Hotel can be rather difficult to find in a car, but worth it!

Review 38:Very close to the centre of town Lovely old building with most beautiful patios I have encountered Helpful staff

Review 39:room 32 did not have a bar fridge, shampoo and shower gel a bit short

Review 40:use of antique tiles, quirky bathrooms, large suite. Restaurant attached was fab, and airconditioned! huge plus.

Review 41:No parking but nearby parking acceptable. Restaurant not used - menu and ambience not attractive.

Review 42:Charm & Character -a hotel with a difference. Comfortable room. Excellent value.

Review 43:Everything was perfect. Nothing to complain about.

Review 44:We absolutely loved everything in this hotel. The setting, in a restored old palace was magic. It gave you the illusion of being at another time. The decor, the little balcony looking out a little patio was great. Both the room and bathroom were spacious and clean. The bathroom had a bathtub which was a very nice addition. It was very nicely located, right in the center, although not right where all the bars are, so it was very quiet. And sleeping in a comfortable bed is very important for me when I travel. The bed was supercomfortable. If I am ever back to Sanlucar, I'll definitely go back to this hotel.

Review 45:bed a little too hard for me.

Review 46:location ten minutes to centre. excellant large rooms. very clean. antique furniture. easy parking outside hotel. plenty local bars and restaurants. taxi to beach 4 euros. 24 hour security.

Review 47:Absolutely amazing hotel and furnishings - stunning environment. Close to all sights in the old town. Incredibly historic town.

Review 48:Booked the day prior to arrival. Excellent hotel with much history

Review 49:Being within walking distance to the centre of Sanlucar and the beach

Review 50:A little too basic

Review 51:Location

Review 52:Supplementary bed for kid was of very poor quallity

Review 53:Interieur patio's and excellent restaurant

Review 54:the bed was covered in ants and only after almost begging for another room, we werent changed.

Review 55:location is fine. Typical andalusian layout.

Review 56:Sanlucar is a charming town with good choice of restaurants in centre and at beach.

Review 57:Breakfast is very poor for 6€.

Review 58:Quaint litter hotel.

Review 59:ambiance

Review 60:Lack of parking

Review 61:Huge bedroom, open courtyards, quiet and friendly atmosphere. Excellent base for exploring Sanlucar de Barrameda and surrounding area

Review 62:Poor air conditioning. Poor WIFI.

Review 63:Historical nature of the building. Aesthetic Features of the hotel. Immaculately kept surroundings.

Review 64:Room 12 too dark

Review 65:Furniture and terraces. Places to sit and escape. Room 28 light and airy

Review 66:We had actually 3 separate compartments, but for all this space luxerary they didn't care neither fridge nor coffee machine. Hence we had to keep our food open: herds of small black ants were quick to realize it and annigilated our breakfast.

Review 67:Interesting design and vast space. You live in authentical medieval castle, the floor is of stones.

Review 68:We had to park in a square some way away but it was fine. Breakfast was a basic continental one . It was included in the price , we were quite happy with it.

Review 69:We loved staying at this old palace. Very different , very special.the websites show all and we were not disappointed. Our bed was heavenly.our meal in the patio was lovely.

Review 70:Air conditioning noisy Although one of our own books said renovated in 2011, we felt it was very tired and need money spending on it. No parking

Review 71:Nicely positioned. Quiet Good bathroom Breakfast included Quite cheap

Review 72:Our room was on the ground floor & smelled musty when we arrived. I had to air it out. There were no international TV channels.

Review 73:The interior of the building is very beautiful & typically Spanish old style with small patios & lots of flowers

Review 74:Would benefit from a mini bar and coffee making facilities Restaurant closed for local holidays for 2 days of our 3 day visit

Review 75:Beautiful historic hotel with lovely patios, interesting architecture, very peaceful and comfortable Lovely friendly staff. Superb restaurant - when open

Review 76:Too expensive. Breakfast poor Had to curtail stay due to illness

Review 77:Andalucian-style patios & terraces. Bedroom was beautiful with antiques. Best bed ever slept in.

Review 78:Breakfast in a beautiful patio but could have been more plentiful. Parking is a stroke of luck.

Review 79:Beautiful rustic Andalusian villa in center of old town. Right next to restaurants and bars for tapa hopping. The Doñana wildlife reserve national park can be visited by a 5 min boat ride, but needs to be booked months in advance. This is not a beach hotel which abound in the area but perfect for sightseeing.

Review 80:Staff generally seemed rather offhand, though an older lady was helpful. Breakfast was poor (mouldy fruit, orange juice off, various items of the limited range not available on certain days). Generally an air of being run down and having seen better days, and a complete absence of management.

Review 81:Interesting old building, and fascinating furniture, comfortable room. If money were spent on it, and it were properly managed, it could be great.

Review 82:Receptionists did not speak english very much. They lost the key of our room.

Review 83:Very typical spanish posada, original furniture inside the room and in patios. Good breakfast.

Review 84:Breakfast could have been better, and it would have been good if it had a bar (it does have one but it was closed on our visit, presumably because it was not high season yet)

Review 85:The hotel is a beautiful old palace of a building, filled with beautiful old furniture and antiques, set right in the middle of the 2 barrios (areas) making up the old town. One is more touristy than the other, but both have plenty of interesting bars and restaunts and it is very close to many of the Bodegas (sherry producing wineries).

Review 86:The hotel staff wasn't the friendliest and their grasp of English notvery good. The internet connection doesn't work in all the rooms, so Ihad to go to the lobby to get access. The breakfast was extremely basic,I think it is better to go outside the hotel than spend the 8 or 10Euros here.

Review 87:The hotel was in many ways as it could have been well over a hundredyears ago. The doors to the room and the furniture, art work and otherfeatures gave me a glimpse of what it must have been like to be a guestat the privately owned Palacio. I really enjoyed feeling this history.

Review 88:Alovely old Spanish house with modern facilities nd very helpful staff.Peaceful yet close to the town and beach and Donana the national park isfantastic. My only slight niggle would be that during the week thebar/restaurant have very limited opening times.

Review 89:no bed protector, room not dark enough

Review 90:lovely unique hotel full of character.

Review 91:very warm staffs - nice building - good located to the city

Review 92:Hotel was empty Restaurant closed No atmosphere or buzz one member of staff did all

Review 93:The hotel was lovely great setting great decor

Review 94:Great place

Review 95:Peaceful courtyards, quiet generally, lovely building and lovely room

Review 96:No parking.

Review 97:Decor, furniture, size of room, courtyards, location

Review 98:Delightful hotel with generously sized rooms full of antiquefurnishings. Very atmospheric and clever, sympathetic conversion.

Review 99:Nice old building, interestingly fitted out. Pleasant staff. Short stroll from the main sights.
