Reviews for La Villa Saint Pierre

Review 1:Lovely room in a beautiful building. Nice breakfast, they even filled my thermos with tea. Pierre at reception was a sweety! And they had dogs! How lovely!

Review 2:The room configuration is a bit unusual but part of the charm.

Review 3:The location is great - easy walk into the centre of town. Nice to stay somewhere with a bit of character! Very clean and excellent value.

Review 4:I paid promotion price, less than 60€ including breakfast.so,I am satisfied with room.

Review 5:This is value for money stayed hotel. If you pay over than 60€,maybe you would disappointing... But you pay less than...maybe You will accept. There were no door between bedroom and bathroom. Just with old curtain. But their facillites are renovatied.

Review 6:The rooms were poorly decorated and bathrooms distinctly unpleasant. Restaurant and bar both closed without any prior notice. Parking an issue. Staff very pleasant and breakfast good value

Review 7:Nothing very much

Review 8:Not exactly a bad experience, more odd. For example, the room, although clean, looked unfinished. There was only one hanger, and the wardrobe might have been a wardrobe at one point, but not any more; it resembled a set of shelves (with one hanger). The light above the bathroom mirror did not have a shade, etc, etc. Lots of bare pipes and so on. It was a double room, but it only had one bedside table..

Review 9:Great breakfast and good value for money.

Review 10:No elevator. No secure parking. No English TV. The room was small, old, and had a poor mattress, tiny sink and a strange electric toilet.

Review 11:Good location, 10 minute walk from Rue de Champagne. Great Breakfast, at extra cost.

Review 12:The only downside was the restaurant was not open so it meant a short walk to town for dinner - but there are plenty of dining options in Epernay so it wasn't a problem.

Review 13:The room I had was very comfortable and very thoughtfully fitted out with everything you need for a longer hotel stay. Lots of room to store your clothes and hanging space.

Review 14:You need to remember to buy bottles of water for the night - no drinks in room. No lift and steep wooden stairs - if you have heavy bags. Toilet cubicle was very small in the bedroom!

Review 15:We liked having a 'sitting room area' of our own and a bedroom area. Breakfast was just right The hotel was basic and clean - fine when you just need somewhere to rest and sleep. Great view across the skyline from our top floor room.

Review 16:Our stay was in 2 different rooms, both on 1st floor. First room was fine. Second room (with red flowers on wall) was incredibly tiny, the wi-fi didn't reach, the sink drain was clogged, and the toilet ran all night, so the only way to get quiet was to keep the valve closed all the time and open only to flush. The staff simply shrugged, made no effort.

Review 17:Good assortment at breakfast.

Review 18:The bathroom facilities were small and the room had a very unpleasant odour probably due to the plastic wall cladding in the bathroom and toilet.

Review 19:Tis hotel was in a good location within walking distance of good restaurants and shops. The breakfast was good and plentiful. The host was pleasant and while communication was difficult was not impossible.

Review 20:Very comfy & clean family-owned hotel, in a great location in the center of Epernay within walking distance of champagne caves. Helpful & friendly owner.

Review 21:Room was near staircase so a bit noisy. We are heavy sleepers, so didn't worry us though. If you are a light sleeper, best to request room on higher floor.

Review 22:Charming place, convenient location, room had everything we needed

Review 23:Just small points really tea making in room would have been useful as would a hair dryer other than that excellent stay

Review 24:Lovely welcome. Really clean and looked after. A great breakfast, 10 min walk to the center. Great value for money we will go back

Review 25:No staff on premises until breakfast. Internet did not work on the top floor.

Review 26:Very clean and well appointed. Good location. Good value. Excellent breakfast.

Review 27:I believe the owners were away. It was strange: there was no one there but us guests miuch of the day and in the evenings. The woman who was covering was wonderful but spoke little English, so it wasn't clear to us why the house was empty and the restaurant closed. What if something had gone wrong in the house, or one of the guests needed help?

Review 28:We loved our room on the top floor that looked out over roofs and vineyards. There was a separate sitting room. Breakfasts were excellent. It was just a few minutes walk to shops, markets, and the tourist information office. Linens and towels were high-quality, the bed very comfortable. This was a lovely place.

Review 29:WiFi didn't work and caused us a great hassle when trying to confirm our flight home and book our seats. We had to go to the airport early.

Review 30:Friendly, helpful staff and facilities (bar, kitchen)

Review 31:Check-in not allowed until 1730hrs - not ideal. Shower was a curtained box the size of a telephone kiosk and completely inadequate and rather less than private.

Review 32:Location was good. The lady who gave us breakfast and checked us out was very cheery and pleasant

Review 33:The bed was a little old and mattress rolled down into the middle by a large amount.

Review 34:Location was great. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very nice with modern fixings.

Review 35:Very, very tiny bathroom--but, not unexpected in France.

Review 36:The owners were absolutely incredible--so kind and helpful. The breakfast was a delicious feast! The hotel has plenty of character and is very walkable to the heart of Épernay.

Review 37:bed was very small and uncomfortable, checkin available only very late (from 5 oclock onwards), bathroom is just a no-go, it is a small corner of directly inside the room, wifi did not work most of the time

Review 38:the hotel's location was very good

Review 39:The shower broke, you can't access the property until after 5-30, restaurant closed, and as lovely as the building undeniably is, it needs a lot of money spending

Review 40:Nice people, fantastic house, great access to Epernay

Review 41:You had to hold the shower in the quadruple room

Review 42:Pierre is wonderful and his cute little Dog Calvina! The hotel is typical Shabby Chic French style, value for money and the breakfast was lovely, slightly different each morning.

Review 43:Nothing!

Review 44:The owner was incredibly friendly and very helpful. He showed us where some great champagne houses were located for excellent quality champagne at great prices.

Review 45:Bed mattress dipped in the middle so not as comfy as it could have been.

Review 46:Lovely friendly, helpful host Pierre who recommended a great restaurant for the night of our stay (Sunday) and helped us with directions the next day. Sweet little room with huge bathroom. Close to Epernay town centre for everything.

Review 47:This was exactlyour idea of a family owned hotel, in a delightful old building and naturally with some quirks - the breakfast in their salon was particularly enjoyable. Also very close to the Avenue de Champagne!

Review 48:The room was very hot, no air conditioning.

Review 49:Very friendly proprietor Pierre, he was very helpful and pointed out some good restaurants and places to visit. The location was excellent within walking distance of all amenities in Epernay. The room was spacious and clean.

Review 50:I had requested a bath, and on arrival was told that they didn't have any rooms with baths. When we walked downstairs in the morning I could see a bath through an open door. (I had booke up months in advance)

Review 51:The Brocante market on Sunday morning

Review 52:The bed was to soft.

Review 53:We liked the location, the hospitality, great breakfast and the house itself. We would definitely visit and stay here if we go to Epernay again.

Review 54:The garden 'bar' was closed earlier than stated in the schedule and we missed the nightcap we had planned.

Review 55:Great location, beautiful house and garden.

Review 56:This is not a criticism. We had a very small basin / shower cubicle and macerator toilet in the room - but at least they WERE in the room and not down the corridor!

Review 57:This was a well positioned hotel about 10 minutes from the centre of town. Pierre, the owner could not have been more helpful - aware we were travelling some distance, he emailed information to allow us access to our room before the check-in time of 17.30. Hotel restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday but you are very close to lots of cafes / restaurants in town. Breakfast was very good.

Review 58:No problems. Wifi hard to access on top floor but this is a very minor inconvenience.

Review 59:Friendly, helpful, and gracious staff. Clean, bright rooms. Good, fresh breakfast.

Review 60:On the corner of a busy street; very basic accommodation; thin wall between my bedroom and the adjacent room and noise travelled easily; tiny bathroom space.

Review 61:Pleasant staff; breakfast okay; low price probably reflects accommodation,

Review 62:Nothing negative to say about my stay here apart from the heatwave. It was 40 degrees C during the days we were here & although the hotel doesn't have air conditioning (and probably doesn't need it) the owner rushed out & purchased a stand alone AC unit for our room. Thanks.

Review 63:Exceptional staff helpfulness & friendliness. This was by far the best service I have received at numerous hotels during my 3 week holiday in France.

Review 64:During the night we were disturbed by inconsiderate guests returning late and noisily - the management subsequently addressed this issue.

Review 65:The room/mini suite we stayed in (Room 3) was spacious; it was thoughtfully and practically laid out, very attractively decorated and altogether a very pleasant place to be. Very high standard of maintenance.

Review 66:The wifi was a bit sporadic and the toilet was so small it was impossible to close the door while using it.

Review 67:The Hotel is within walking distance of everything in Epernay and there is free parking available in the street.

Review 68:Great location, easy on street parking, we chose suite which was well sized and beautifully decorated. We had dinner at the hotel which was superb and Pierre was a great host

Review 69:Enjoyed it all

Review 70:Location was excellent, rooms immaculately clean we stayed in suite jeroboam which was charming. Food was excellent breakfast good choice with great ingredients . We chose half board and dinner was excellent. Above all hosting was really friendly and service great

Review 71:The guy in the kitchen was not so friendly There is nobody around between certain hours. Toilet is verry small

Review 72:Room was sober and clean Kitchen was clean The woman at the desk was friendly

Review 73:Wifi was very hard to get, and when I asked for a map of area, they didn't have one.

Review 74:I liked the coziness of this B&B. The room was clean, the breakfast very good, and it was close to the centre of town.

Review 75:Loo had a curtain. Very small shower.Noisey. Prepayment a fixed amountof eur 10 per room will be charged at least 2 days prior to arrival.[This has not been taken to date]

Review 76:Location.

Review 77:Unfortunately our bed was not the most comfortable as we rolled into the middle. In saying that it was fine for a few days.

Review 78:Fantastic 2 days at La Villa Saint Pierre. Central location to everything. Friendly helpful staff. If you get a chance try Chez Max for dinner.

Review 79:The stairs were steep and no assistance with bags. We mentioned we needed a low room but we're on the top floor. The location was not quite as near to the ave de champs as I thought.

Review 80:Breakfast was really very good and the room nice and spacious and very pleasantly decorated. Facilities basic but an excellent 2* accommodation.

Review 81:Our room on the front of the hotel was very noisy from street traffic at times.

Review 82:After spending 3 nights in a small Paris hotel room, we appreciated the spacious, classily decorated room, comfortable bed and wonderful shower!

Review 83:Unable to check in until after 17:30

Review 84:Convenient for access to the town and Ave de Champagne. Street parking was free and available Excellent value and comprehensive breakfasts Very good WiFi

Review 85:No hairdryer Restaurant fully booked even though we did enquire about eating there Credit card machine didn't work on our credit card Check in only after 1730

Review 86:Didn't apply to me, but advice would be to check carefully the times reception is open to time your arrival accordingly.

Review 87:I loved how it really felt more like a house or home even, before a hotel. Great atmosphere.

Review 88:Slight whiff of fresh paint in the room - overcome by opening the window. Should be fine for next guest

Review 89:The welcoming was personal and friendly and notihng was too much trouble - even the patient listening to my appalling schoolboy French

Review 90:No parking of its own but we found a space quite easily on the road.

Review 91:Owners very friendly and helpful. Good to have a room for 4 people with kids not quite old enough to be alone. Good breakfast choice.

Review 92:Instragam app didn't work with wifi and some websites.. But only a very minor detail.

Review 93:Absolutely great hosts running the hotel. Very clean, modern, boutique, central, helpful, comfortable, easy, quaint and couldn't have found better accommodation. Please stay there!

Review 94:Our kids bedroom was unrenovated. The stairs were hard to carry suitcases up and no help was provided and I have a bad knee.

Review 95:The host Pierre is a character and very friendly and helpful unlike some in Paris. Location was good.

Review 96:On street parking some distance from the hotel Rather dark Obtrusive maintenance work in hte public areas - but then this was just before New Year and they have to do maintenance sometime!

Review 97:Location Staff spoke English Breakfast

Review 98:Wonderful staff, very helpful and friendly. Gave really helpful suggestions in terms of smaller champagne producers worth visiting. I loved the "home away from home" breakfast - essentially buffet, but you felt you were eating in a friend's dining room. The décor is a little tired, but this is reflected in the excellent value for money and everything worked fine.

Review 99:Our bed was a little small but I think this is quite normal for France.

Review 100:Wonderful location, clean & neat & helpful hosts & able to provide a baby crib. If you choose to include breakfast it is generous but be sure to let them know the day before. Also be aware of the check in hours (after 530pm) but this is clearly stated by the hotel.

Review 101:I spent under 24 hours at this small hotel, just a pit stop really on a drive through Europe. We found parking across the road, so that was a good thing. The room was average, clean and enough towels & toiletries.

Review 102:like most of these smaller hotels there was no lift which can be tough getting cases to the top floor.

Review 103:Location is everything when staying in unfamiliar areas. Saint Pierre is with a short walk from everything.

Review 104:My room was quite cold even though I closed the window right upon arrival. Also the breakfast could have been much better as it was not included in the price.

Review 105:The welcome to the hotel was very nice. I also liked the location of the place (within 10 minutes walk from major sights) and my peaceful room on the upper floor.

Review 106:The bed was small and we rolled to the middle. It was advertised that we could eat there which appeared not to be possible for some vague reason. We counted on the restaurant to put our small kids to sleep while having evening dinner. Now we we had to look for a restaurant with tired kids which is always difficult as restaurant tend to open late or serve slowly. It should honestly be advertised that having dinner is not possible.

Review 107:Charming hotel on a top location in the center of Epernay. Tastefull interior, the hotel and room decorations are well done. The couple that run the hotel are helpfull and friendly. The breakfast couldn't be better.

Review 108:Room was a bit of a mess and the place was generally uncomfortable. Staff was unfriendly. Small window of time to check in. I wouldn't stay there again even as a last resort.

Review 109:Very dated and could use an update--even just a fresh coat of paint.

Review 110:Cute little place with very nice owners. While the place was very dated it was nice and clean.

Review 111:A little noisy if you have loud neighbours arriving in the middle of the night. Fine otherwise.

Review 112:A real character hotel in the centre of Epernay. Tiny, quirky bathroom and toilet with a curtain. Very "bricolage", vey french!! Not very intimate for new couples!! Good breakfast. I read about the 5pm check-in time so don't bother coming in any earlier!! Just enjoy sipping the nectar along "Avenue de Champagne" and all is good!

Review 113:Rooms, beds, bathroom all tiny if you are above average height and travelling with luggage avoid this place. Plus room 4 bed is the awful

Review 114:Close to the town centre

Review 115:better to have a lift or pulley to lift luggage up to the rooms, esp we stayed on top floor with a few pieces of luggage... wifi is not stable.

Review 116:rooms newly renovated with simple and clean decor... good

Review 117:No complaints.

Review 118:We loved this place. Bernadette and Pierre were very helpful. Breakfasts are a very good value but the highlight is definitely the four course suppers that Pierre prepares. They are a great introduction to French cuisine.

Review 119:No lift so be aware if you have heavy luggage.

Review 120:Lovely staff/owners, very friendly and helpful. Relaxed atmosphere for the excellent breakfast. Do consider having dinner there also.

Review 121:It's a shame that a menu with drinks is in the room, but no drinks are available to buy on Sundays.

Review 122:very nice and comfortable rooms, small but sufficient shower. Family room split in two, which was very nice!

Review 123:5.30 check in. But I understand why

Review 124:This was a great hotel for us with a toddler. Very close to centre of town for visiting champagne caves in afternoon and then beautiful meal in the hotel restaurant. Four delicious courses and small enough hotel that baby could sleep upstairs (baby monitor on) meant for a very relaxing night on our hols. Would definitely return

Review 125:Pierre and his wife took very good care of us during our too short visit, we felt most welcome. They are both very kind people. We enjoyed a very nice dinner, and we got lovely champagne, everything good value for money. We are happy to have found Villa Saint Pierre and we look forward to our next stay.

Review 126:The internet connection was not good and for some reason the owners haverestricted access to some sites which also stopped access to some thingswe needed. The doona/quilt for the bed was far to warm and withoutsheets or a light blanket we either slept sweating or too cool. A commonproblem in Europe. Still, a nice place to stay.

Review 127:The location in the very enjoyable town in excellent. Our room wasvery comfortable, clean and spacious The owners are very friendlyand helpful.

Review 128:Unfortunately the great dinner the first night without wheat, didn't carry on - with the standard continental breakfast both mornings, but I had lots of fruit & yogurt, so probably healthier & I've never seen a good gluten free croissant! ;)

Review 129:We had a newly refurbished room on the top floor, which was sparsely furnished, but minimalist & perfect for what we wanted, as the room felt quite big. Bed comfortable & shower good too. Owners were lovely & responsive when a lightbulb wasn't working & I'd emailed them in advance to let them know of a wheat allergy (toute en francais) they confirmed the delicious dinner we were due to have our first night on half board wouldn't have any wheat in it - it was delicious. Nice outdoor area to have pre-dinner drinks (despite road noise) and easy strolling distance to l'avenue de Champagne & the rest of town.

Review 130:The wifi was a bit tricky to connect to. It took us a while to realize we needed to keep the door open to reach it in the bedroom.

Review 131:We were warmly welcomed (love the friendly dog!) and the room was great. We stayed on the top level (we have no trouble with stairs) in a big room and huge bathroom. It was a pleasant surprise after some of the reviews :-) Very light and recently renovated.

Review 132:There wasn't anything I didn't like compared to expectations but a few things to know going in. 1) check in is after 5:30pm, doors are locked until then 2) The room we stayed in (the purple room) was a big mix of new and old things. You could tell they renovated somethings and not others. 3) The building/room you can tell are older, it has the older smell but it didn't really bother us. 4) Breakfast is 8euro 5) Walls are relatively thin, didn't bother us because ppl were quiet but if you have louder neighbors maybe not so nice I would not recommend if you expect flexible arrival, 100% modern room quality/newer building, or dislike thin walls.

Review 133:Decent location, 5-7 min walk to center Decent staff Decent room, no big complaints if you have 2 star hotel expectations. Free parking is always a plus Wifi is actually very strong in the room which is rare for me. Not the cleanest I've seen but definitely of quality and acceptable for a hotel. For the price it's a decent value and I would recommend if price, location, wifi, and parking are important.

Review 134:Leaving.

Review 135:The owners could not have been more kind or helpful. They had a couple of lovely small dogs that came out to greet you. the food was fantastic, so good we didn't eat out at all.

Review 136:Some rooms look a little dated. Very hard to fault otherwise.

Review 137:Cleaniless Welcoming and helpful staff Prompt service Good breakfast Good value for money

Review 138:Rather noisy main road. The basins had no plugs though we used a bath plug. More soap would have been nice.

Review 139:Incredibly warm-hearted jovial couple running hotel and food was absolutely fantastic and very generous with food and drink.

Review 140:We had the room at the top of the house it was comfortable and en suite. The shower was a little hit and miss but we managed. Dinner and breakfast was excellent and served by the owners.
