Reviews for Hôtel Pasteur
Review 1:Nothing
Review 2:Big modern and comfortable room with tea and coffee making facilities. Totally silent at night, big bed with soft pillows and duvet. Superb breakfast with everything you could want. Fresh home made pastries and bread. Private car park next to hotel. Don't be fooled by outside appearance as work being done. Excellent value for money. Staff helpful. Definitely will stay again. Would be perfect if had a restaurant.
Review 3:A stunning contemporary hotel ! The rooms were sumptuous , the bathroom was beautiful clean and well designed with a shower head fixing that was convenient for ladies who don't want their hair soaked or for children . Also the shower head could be placed higher for normal use. We ate the most delicious breakfast. Dainty bite sized pain au chocolate , breads , and other Danish pastries. The hotel is in a quiet street so we slept peacefully in a fabulous bed. 10 out of 10!
Review 4:We had a lovely room and staff very friendly and helpful Parking was easy and under cover Lots of magazines to browse in french and english on all the landings
Review 5:The interior has been decorated by a pro with a lot of style and taste and I loved it - how you can make a house with old structures into one solid optical entity just by design is amazing.
Review 6:The swiping of my prepaid credit card on arrival and again on departure means that €140 is in abeyance on my account although I have paid in full. This is restrictive to our holiday budget. I am still trying to get the initial guarantee of €140 removed, something I should not have to do. I am now in my 3rd hotel since staying at Hotel Pasteur and I have not had this experience repeated. It has to be something the hotel Pasteur is doing.
Review 7:The hotel is well equipped and tastefully decorated
Review 8:The welcome, the room, quietness, parking on site. Easy walking distance to Centre Ville .Very well done out inside - not so good outside but work is being carried out Getting out of town was simplicity itself.
Review 9:The entrance to the hotel isn't impressive or obvious!
Review 10:Very nice room with spotless and spacious shower room. The staff were very helpful. They booked the restaurant for us and crucially managed to open the bedroom safe to retrieve my passport etc when I couldn't open it...
Review 11:Hotel was away from main centre, lacked personality and was quite expensive in comparison to others in the town and in most French hotels
Review 12:Modern decorated hotel with off road parking
Review 13:Could have done with a little more tea, coffee, water and milk in room. It was sufficient for one drink only. Entrance rather scruffy and badly lit.
Review 14:Excellent staff, warm, helpful and informative. Classy interior decor. Separate wc.
Review 15:In process of upgrade but still wonderful. Wifi moderate at best
Review 16:Smart and will be smarter when update woes completed. Good parking and a gem of a hotel!
Review 17:No negative points to report.
Review 18:This hotel is characterful and comfortable, presented in an immaculately clean condition. Staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.
Review 19:The family room for 5 was pretty much wall to wall beds, this wasn't really a problem for us but for the price I would have expected more room. No air con so we had to leave the window open all night. This wasn't a major problem but if it had been any hotter I think it would have been uncomfortable.
Review 20:Clean and comfortable. Good central location for exploring Chalons-en-Champagne. The Bathroom was lovely. Nice big windows made for a light and airy room.
Review 21:This is a charming small hotel in the old town of Chalons. We stayed in a newly renovated room which was delightful....large and very tastefully decorated. The hotel is quiet due to being in the rear. We appreciated the parking right at the hotel. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was great. The old town is within easy walking distance.
Review 22:No aircon made the room hot and stuffy even with the window open. Chalons was very quiet on Sept 1st.
Review 23:It was near the centre of Chalons and had car parking
Review 24:It was one of the hottest days of the year (36 degrees) so air conditioning in the bedroom would have been welcome!
Review 25:Good central location on a quiet road with off-street parking. The décor is excellent and the place is spotless. Bedrooms (1 & 4) look to have been refitted very recently. Everything very new. Excellent!
Review 26:No light at the back where entry is at night but after suggesting this the lady was pleased to be told. Currently being renovated
Review 27:Very nice good location and stop over before Calais
Review 28:Welcoming, friendly staff; charm of restored building; delightful and very comfortable room with excellent ensuite; central location in town; delicious breakfast, though freshly made coffee (not self service machine) would have been nice.
Review 29:Unprepossessing exterior and expansion underway but didnt affect us.
Review 30:Wonderful reformed room - amazing TV, bathroom and shower a dream. Decor v nice. Perfect for overnighting
Review 31:No air con so in the heat of summer it may get somewhat stuffy
Review 32:Good location near the centre of town. Nice room in traditional style but with nicely modernised bathroom. Parking on site. Good selection for breakfast.
Review 33:It was an exceptionally warm night when we stayed so air conditioning would have been beneficial.
Review 34:The hotel was decorated to a very high standard and the beds were very comfortable. The kids appreciated the speed of the wifi! The hotel has good parking.
Review 35:What a wonderful, relaxing hotel. So luxurious for the price. The breakfast buffet was marvellous, room spacious, and the bed exquisite. Fantastic overnight on the route through France.
Review 36:No air conditioning meant the room was hot at night (fan supplied).
Review 37:Clean, spacious room, newly refurbished, with large en-suite shower room. Some on site parking, free buffet breakfast for the kids.
Review 38:hotel was being refurbished, secure parking was not available for all guests and we had to park some way away from the hotel on the street. The road to the hotel was also closed
Review 39:ClEanliness of room and facilities including air conditioning
Review 40:No air con only a fan in room and weather was particularly hot so be aware if in heat of summer.
Review 41:Recently decorated (some building work ongoing but no disturbance) so very fresh clean feel and very helpful staff.
Review 42:Compact for a family room with no room to move around the 2 double beds (one a converted sofa). Room was unbearably hot with no air conditioning - street outside too noisy to keep the windows open over night.
Review 43:Staff were courteous. Modern newly decorated bedroom.
Review 44:We didn't realise that there would be improvements being done to the hotel when we booked- there were road works outside the hotel which made it very difficult to find, and the hotel unfortunately looked like a building site. For what we paid for it we were disappointed with what we got.
Review 45:The breakfast was incredible and it will be a fantastic hotel when it is done.
Review 46:Excellent rooms far superior to the usual French hotels of this standard. The breakfast is extra but for €9 each I am not complaining. I would strongly recommend this hotel for a stopover if travelling to or from Calais. However try to avoid a Sunday night most of the restaurants in the town are closed and those that are open are just adequate.
Review 47:Ground floor room had no fan (as promised) window opened onto busy street so could not be opened for security & metal shutter had to be closed for privacy. Told all fans were in upper rooms. Placed in smaller room in yard where window could be opened. Owner, next morning would not entertain a reduction and was abruptly not accepting a fan had been stated for the room. She was unapologetic but later reluctantly offered free breakfast which we declined. A pity but through her attitude I would not stay there again. They also stated satellite channels but only bbc world available. Owner said she didn't speak English?
Review 48:Facilities were good and staff on arrival did her best and was charming
Review 49:no air conditioning , temperatures in the high 30s. construction in progress no outside recreational space
Review 50:Room decorated to a high standard,Hotel should be wonderful when completed.
Review 51:Lack of air conditioning. Very hot at night. Open windows on front mean't very noisy early morning. Building work .Very unprepossessing building
Review 52:Handy for town centre. Good off street parking. Nice staff
Review 53:Nothing!
Review 54:The whole feel about this hotel is great! Staff, customer care, style, finish and facilities are all excellent. Brilliant choice as a stop over in our opinion. Hopefully will make a point of repeating next year en route to S.France/Italy.
Review 55:Renovations were being carried out and although there wasn't any noise form the workmen to disturb us, there was plaster dust and workers in reception areas. Trip and slip hazards were a distinct possibility. These renovations should be complete in a few months, so towards the end of September I would feel happy to recommend this hotel to others.
Review 56:Great hotel, friendly staff, nice rooms and breakfast.
Review 57:It seemed expensive for what was provided.
Review 58:The hotel was well located and is being newly upgraded. We stayed in a recently restored bedroom which had everything except air-conditioning . The Brasserie the receptionist recommended for dinner.
Review 59:The room could have benefitted from having an air conditioning unit, it did get a bit stuffy in the night so opened the window but was then harassed by a couple of mosquitoes! I imagine that it would be very hot in the summer months! There was nothing in the minibar except a bottle of water, no soft drinks, snacks or alcohol. Not even milk for tea, even though tea bags and coffeee were provided. The reception is only manned during certain hours, outside of these times you need to check yourself in using a door code and keys are left at reception for you. There should be a trust bar for you to use for refreshments, and perhaps an information pack for you listing local restaurants etc
Review 60:The hotel was beautifully decorated. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable. I liked that the toilet was separate to the shower room, although it would be nice to have a small sink in there also to wash your hands. The location is easily walkable to the local town with restaurants within easy reach The building work did not affect our stay
Review 61:Gorgeous renovated old house with extra rooms being added in an old out house. Due to be completed by Aug 15. Tastefully done, good off road parking. Very close to the centre of town and a selection of restaurants.
Review 62:Not very attractive from the street so it's deceiving
Review 63:Completely refurbished with building works still going on. Super room with all modern comforts, free covered parking at rear. Lovely breakfast room with gourmet breakfast, friendly reception, excellent restaurants nearby, 5 mins walk from centre of town
Review 64:Due to building work, the internet connection was very poor and when we arrived at the ferry we found our booking had not been received. I'm sure this is a temporary glitch.
Review 65:A hotel with character, beautifully refurbed with extras sometimes not found in French hotels such as a fridge and tea making facilities. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Review 66:My bedroom was a complete haven, calming and very comfortable. The hotel is beautifully decorated with a stunning grand staircase, (lift also available) and lovely lounge and breakfast conservatory. The staff were all very charming and helpful. )I unexpectedly spent 5 nights here as my partner was admitted to hospital with acute appendicitis/peritonitis within hours of our arrival en route to our summer holiday in the Gard. The staff could not have been kinder or more helpful at such a stressful time.) There was secure off road parking. I loved staying here and plan to return at the end of the summer.
Review 67:Nowhere to hang towels in our bathroom and wifi didn't work in our room but did in lounge area
Review 68:Staff. Both ladies we met at reception were lovely and helpful. Great location just away from main town with easy walk. Private parking. Amazing comfortable beds, tastefully furnished and very clean.
Review 69:We have stayed at Hotel Pasteur for 10 years and the new improvements are just what this lovely old hotel needed. Our room has now been converted into super luxury
Review 70:Wifi was hit and miss in the bedrooms. But staff and hotel made up for lack of this
Review 71:Wonderfully decorated and almost a boutique hotel. Helpful staff and a not bad location
Review 72:In a newly refurbished hotel by an interior designer with an eye to the small details. Very nice indeed! The owner and staff were really welcoming, couldn't have been better.
Review 73:The room was newly refurbished to a very high standard with a very comfortable bed and pillows. While there is work on-going it did not interfere in any way with our stay. The receptionist on our arrival was extremely friendly and helpful. Good buffet breakfast
Review 74:Very welcoming, fab clean comfortable newly upgraded room. Very quiet, and a great breakfast. Central town location within 5 mins walking distance of main town square. Lots of nice places to eat.
Review 75:WiFi didn't reach to our room.
Review 76:Excellent standard of room: functional and clean lines. Newly refurbished ideal bathroom. Pleasant staff. We were emailed the day before about the limited reception times on a Sunday. Good breakfast.
Review 77:Our friends and we arrived at 15.00 on Sunday 1st Jan (the Booking.comform stated an earliest check-in time of 13.00) to a sign on the doorsaying hotel closed due to exceptional circumstances until 17.00. Theentrance door was locked and all lights were out, so the hotel appearedclosed, which was alarming! It was evident there were no other guestsand that the hotel was subject to major building works as builderslorries were in the car park. We spoke to Booking.com to clarify and tosee if our booking could be cancelled. They spoke to the hotel via acontact number and we were instructed to hang around until 17.00 andwere advised that the hotel was unwilling to allow us to cancel, despiteacknowledging that the hotel was effectively closed! At 17.00 areceptionist appeared and opened up the hotel to check us in and claimedthe hotel to be fully functional! The hotel brochure offered variousservices including a "Plats Disponibles" (food & wine)with a statement claiming "Dishes available at the reception24/7", evidently a gross misrepresentation. Also, otherservices, like a coffee lounge and bar - the coffee machine was notworking and the bar/lounge was unmanned. There were no other staffother than the receptionist who left the hotel around 21.00 (leaving usalone in the hotel overnight which must convene health & safetyregulations). When we vacated the following morning, the manageress(owner we think) was not interested in offering any concessions aboutour experience and poor service, all too keen to charge our card for thefull cost. On the night of our stay, Booking.Com showed initial concernto aide us and said they would speak with the hotel the following dayand would contact us, but we've heard nothing!!!!!! An experience wewould all care to forget and a hotel we would not recommend!
Review 78:Refurbished bedrooms
Review 79:We are of one mind that there are no negative comments.
Review 80:From arriving to departure we felt at home in the spacious and well appointed accomodation. Recently renovated to a high standard but regrettably for the hotel one would not have appreciated this from the approach in the town. Once immediately inside however comfort and high standards prevailed and we would most certainly recommend highly this as a lovely place in which to stay.
Review 81:the room heating was poor (radiator barely warm)-though we were lent a (not very reliable)fan heater
Review 82:city centre parking 10 mins walk to choice of restaurants
Review 83:Recently refurbished to a very high standard. A few minutes' walk from a choice of restaurants in the town centre. Very tasteful decor and furnishings. Excellent, spacious shower-rooms.
Review 84:Wifi is fine but limited bandwidth so Skype calls fine but not with video.. I am sure they are changing this with this upgrade they are nearly finished
Review 85:Staff so helpful with taxi etc. Very quiet location and car park on site. Complimentary wifi
Review 86:Chalons-en-Champagne at the end of October on a Sunday evening is not great!
Review 87:Good decor, comfortable bed, off-street parking, quiet location but close to centre. Good lighting.
Review 88:Very poor WiFi in room Direct booking made via hotel's own website didn't work (and prices appeared cheaper)
Review 89:Nice bed Excellent shower Short walk to city centre Recent refurbishment done well Free parking off street
Review 90:Hate the use of modern coffee machine for breakfast coffee!!
Review 91:Hotel undergoing renovations - breakfast room and reception still to be finished but our room had been finished and was excellent - tastefully decorated to modern standards,
Review 92:Not much, although if you are arriving on a motorbike, as we did, beware, there are loose chippings in the car park.
Review 93:The newly refurbished room was lovely and once all the work is completed this will be a lovely hotel.
Review 94:A warm friendly reception, comfortable room and a good continental breakfast choice. The hotel is currently being renovated to a very high standard and from what we saw will be an excellent choice for an overnight stay or as a base from which to explore the Champagne region.
Review 95:Renovation work in progress thouh noy a major problem
Review 96:Refurbished rooms excellent. Location close to town centre with restaurants, sites and shops in strolling distance. Off street parking.
Review 97:Nothing really!
Review 98:We particularly liked the newly- renovated rooms. They were very comfortable and a huge improvement on the previous year's room for three. To be fair we had booked 2 doubles this time! Breakfast choice was nicely varied, but would have loved the chance to have bakery croissants, but maybe I'm extra fussy!!!
Review 99:Perfect overnight stop. Good car park and excellent helpful staff who spoke very good English
Review 100:Clean, efficient, good value, central
Review 101:The room and hotel was a pleasure staff approachable and provided information on local amenities and restaurants.
Review 102:The Sunday afternoon wait for reception to open.
Review 103:Inside looked far better than the outside. Everything was to a high standard.
Review 104:10 minutes walk to centre of town and restaurants, rather pricey
Review 105:Very comfortable beds well furnished excellent breakfast, dog friendly
Review 106:The hotel is being refurbished to an extremely high standard: the exterior is still very shabby, but don't be put off by that.
Review 107:Everything is convenient . Staff very pleasant and obliging.
Review 108:Plastic stirrers in bedroom spoilt the luxury effect.
Review 109:Ideal location. Good restaurant tips from recreation. Everyone's very helpful and friendly.
Review 110:No restaurant
Review 111:Newly appointed rooms.
Review 112:Very warm and helpful stuff
Review 113:A room overlooking the garden may have been better as noisy with the window open
Review 114:Great decor. Beautiful room. Good breakfast.
Review 115:Wonderful breakfast after a good night's sleep in a quiet, peaceful place. Friendly staff and easy parking on premises.
Review 116:nothing
Review 117:Very freindly and helpful staff. Hotel was very clean and in excellent condition. breakfast was adequate. Would visit again

Review 119:The hotel is newly modernised and fresh
Review 120:Parking Location
Review 121:modern comfort
Review 122:Convenient,hotel to a very high standard, staff friendly, breakfast very good
Review 123:Wifi poor, couldn't get it in our room
Review 124:Pleasant location. Attractive building and work being carried out whilst we were there
