Reviews for Mas des Carassins
Review 1:I wish we would have stayed an extra day or two
Review 2:A beautiful property with nice gardens and pools, outdoor spaces attached to our rooms, and a great location. An easy walk to the center of town.
Review 3:Our room was downstairs in the main building and we could hear noise from the rooms above us on some of the evenings.
Review 4:Wonderfully comfortable room with everything you could possibly want. They now do offer soap in the bathrooms. Our room had a private outdoor seating area and fountain. Big bath towels and nice cotton robes provided. Two pools were open even in mid October. An easy downhill walk to town. Don't miss the Wednesday morning market. Dinner was excellent and breakfast more than ample.
Review 5:The food was beautiful and delicious, as usual. The grounds were spectacular and they keep adding wonderful pieces to the lawn, making it more inviting each visit.
Review 6:The room was plain, small, and the drain in shower was very slow. There is one small common space that is taken over by the restaurant at night. The gentleman who checked us in was very helpful but some others on staff perfunctory.
Review 7:If u go during nice weather u will enjoy the marvelous gardens, pools, and outside spaces. The restaurant was elegant and a bargain for a gourmet meal. Breakfast was also lovely
Review 8:Service was a little too slow Left one night before dessert came as we waited for over 30 min but never came
Review 9:Liked the room with the veranda Great location to travel to other small towns and come back to a lovely 4 course dinner
Review 10:One minor problem was an intermittant sewage odor that sometimes emanated from the bathroom.
Review 11:Property is beautiful and well located. Food at the restaurant is excellent. Proprietors are extremely helpful, nice and welcoming. A fabulous experience.
Review 12:The bed was a little too firm for our liking. Also, I couldn't plug my curling iron into only plug in the bathroom, so had to go with some bad hair days.
Review 13:Very beautiful hotel, grounds, and dinners.
Review 14:Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, varied and good quality and lovely atmosphere for dinner eating under the trees with music and plenty of space
Review 15:We cannot think of anything we did not like
Review 16:The food was excellent (especially the sausages at breakfast) the beautiful grounds and choice of swimming pools, especially the quiet pool area. Another nice touch was the small, private seating area (including water feature) outside each room.
Review 17:Nothing!
Review 18:Beautiful setting with excellent dinners and wonderful staff. We had great dinners every night of our stay with local wines, that were delicious. Rooms were spacious with great bathrooms and very clean. Everything was first class and the staff was so helpful..
Review 19:We loved everything about this place. We only wish we could have stayedlonger. The gardens are absolutely beautiful. The dinner was the best wehad in France and well worth the money as it is not included in theprice. The breakfast which is included is also awesome. The staff werevery friendly and accommodating. They have a huge parking lot which isfree and the walk to town is easy. This is our favorite place we stayedin France while traveling around for 2 weeks. The price is well worthit. We hope to come back one day. The owner was very helpful and gave usperfect directions to get to the train station in Avignon.
Review 20:WiFi was slow and erratic.
Review 21:Outdoor dining in beautiful surroundings. Wonderful evening meals which were an excellent value. Personal attention by staff.
Review 22:Our wifi was a bit slow - we were on the top floor of the building, so perhaps that is why.
Review 23:The rain shower was fantastic. The room was spacious and comfortable and the heating/AC unit worked really well. The room and grounds were tastefully designed. Private, gated parking lot for guests.
Review 24:Only 10 min. walk to the centre of St. Remy. Set in large grounds with plenty of outside seating. Our ground floor room had a private terrace. Room was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. There was also a small fridge. Breakfast included with plenty of choice.
Review 25:Returning for a third time to this peaceful haven, we were not disappointed. The building has great character and oozes charm. The attention to detail and level of comfort in the rooms is impressive and the evening meal was delicious . Breakfast provision is plentiful with many homemade items included. The service is attentive and friendly .
Review 26:We travel with our own pillow and would not have slept as well if we hadn't. They have very firm hypoallergenic fill and we are soft down people. They recommended fair other restaurants. However you could not beat their dinners and breakfast.
Review 27:The food was terrific. Nice grounds easy walk into town and run by really good people. I thought our room was wonderful with a very nice porch.
Review 28:We only spent a night here but wish it had been longer. Room was comfortable, gardens and pools lovely , staff helpful, and food excellent. A great place for a romantic weekend we will be back....
Review 29:Nothing
Review 30:Breakfast was amazing and included in our room price and gourmet French dinners served for very reasonable price. Dining is inside or outside in beautiful gardens. This is the perfect location to drive to Avignon, Arle and other destinations and return the The Mas....relaxing and beautiful!
Review 31:The owners have created wonderful grounds, with plantings, textures, lighting, and sculptures. The room was luxurious and quiet with a beautiful view. The breakfast was substantial and interesting. Antiquities can be reached in one direction by foot, the town in the other. Two weeks in France, our one regret was not staying longer at the Mas.
Review 32:What' not to like? ! .?
Review 33:For the money, this is one of the great finds in Provence! The evening meal is NOT to be missed! We've been in France for 7 weeks and this is one of the best! It is a very short walk to the village center and the privacy is worth the walk!
Review 34:Nothing at all.
Review 35:Extraordinarily beautiful grounds, some of the prettiest we've experienced. Staff was very attentive. We took a package(half-board)which included breakfast and dinner. The food was incredibly good and really made the package a great value.
Review 36:The staff on arrival were frosty, and made a presumptuous reservation for dinner. We were asked to swap rooms after the first night..rooms are not charming, authentic Provance..family room was tired and worn with stains and tears in the curtains and unsafe steps to my child's bed. My husband tried to feedback, but was 'balled out' by the manager. We were horrified at this attack and hiw they woud 'not' listen to feedback. One to avoid...!
Review 37:The swimming pool and gardens, although I do feel they could have spent less on water features and more on the rooms!
Review 38:Had no issues whatsoever.
Review 39:Quiet location yet only a short walk to the centre of St Remy. Plenty of garden areas to relax in. Plenty of private parking. Extensive dining terrace with good quality breakfast and dinner. We stayed for only 1 night en route to Perpignan area but would recommend this hotel for a longer stay as a base to explore the area South of Avignon.
Review 40:Hotel, staff and food.
Review 41:Weather was rubbish - C'est la vie.
Review 42:The gardens are great, restaurant food first class, but above all else just professional hospitality!

Review 48:Beautiful place, excellent restaurant and staff. Rooms with private patios and lovely garden features. Short walk from town.

Review 51:Ambience, location, relaxing, quiet, excellent dinner, nice breakfast
Review 52:Bed very firm.
Review 53:Peacefulness, location, service and food. Having our own courtyard to relax outside. Great location for traveling over a large area.
Review 54:The location was excellent, the accommodations and dining were too.
Review 55:The room was quite small so for more than 1 or 2 nights, I would need a bigger room.
Review 56:The food was amazing, especially the dinners!!
Review 57:Nothing.
Review 58:Outstanding accommodation, gardens, and restaurant. Great overall package. Easy walk to town. Very friendly service.
Review 59:Room was a little on the small side.

Review 66:We only stayed one night but would definitely return.lovely hotel, lovely garden, pool etc all excellent.Room was quite small but very comfortable and lovely views. Staff were very helpful. We had an evening meal which was very good.
Review 67:We really loved this hotel, a perfect location, excellent dinner under the olive trees in the garden. The staff were very friendly . A place we hope to go back to very soon.
Review 68:No shampoo, or face towels. Coffee and tea not always repenished. Burntout bulbs. More attention to the little things. Staff need to look as ifthey are happy to see their guests.
Review 69:Privacy and comfort. Location was great.
Review 70:Friendly, helpful staff; Beautiful grounds; Great breakfast choices; Wonderful four-course dinner; Wish we had stayed longer -- will definitely book here the next time we visit St. Rémy.
Review 71:Great location, very friendly hotel, privately owned and run. Huge breakfast which was included in our price, and excellent evening dinner at around 35 euros. One of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed with.
Review 72:Electric supply bit erratic. Dinner menu which was without choice, but if any course was not to liking alternative was provided However we weren't advised of this alternative course.
Review 73:Smallish, thoughtfully decorated hotel which has a very pleasant ambience. Made to feel very welcome.
Review 74:Location within walking distance of hiking, shopping, food, etc. Hotel has been renovated since we were last here and the 4 course dinners are very special and reasonable. The clientele included families, couples young and old. Lovely gardens and pool.
Review 75:Fabulous location with lovely gardens. Our room was very comfortable with a good view over the gardens (which look even better at night when lit). The meals were delicious with an excellent choice of local wine. The staff were charming & very helpful.
Review 76:We had a room with a private terrace. The hotel has a really large garden with nice swimming pool and a table tennis equipment. Dining at the hotel restaurant was also excellent.
Review 77:It's a beautiful place, fantastically located for Provence, run by wonderfully friendly, kind, knowledgable people and with the most fantastic chef producing incredible meals! Particularly Karin and Michele were lovely and so eager to help.
Review 78:Rooms a little small but adequate the shower is a bit of a challenge - sprays water everywhere
Review 79:Delightful property & Gardens. An excellent meal served outdoors under the Olive Trees on a balmy summer evening. Would definately stay again
Review 80:The only problem we had was drop outs on the wifi, the rest was top notch
Review 81:Staff very helpful, food fantastic, setting of the hotel very good, ambience lovely
Review 82:Loved Everything...
Review 83:What an incredible hotel. My husband and myself were traveling with our 16 month daughter. We wanted to stay in a central location so that we could explore all of the beautiful parts of Provence. This hotel was highly recommended and it did not disappoint. The staff were extremely friendly. The hotel beautiful and very, very clean. The food was amazing! We will be back in Provence and cannot wait to come back to Mas des Carassins. Thank you for a wonderful vacation.....
Review 84:Our room was pretty small, which could have been fine because we had a large garden patio with furniture. Unfortunately, it rained the entire time we were there.
Review 85:This is a beautiful well run hotel with beautiful gardens. The restaurant on-site is excellent. The breakfast buffet is the best I've had in Europe. Dinners there are gourmet!
Review 86:not much not to like here. just down the street from the centre.
Review 87:Great little country inn. If you stay, you must dine on the inclusive daily menu as it is a vast array of flavors.
Review 88:Nothing apart from the fact that we got through our evening meal - 5 courses - in just over 2 hours. Could have slowed down just a little!
Review 89:Location good; lovely building and gardens; food fabulous. We dined in the conservatory. Room smallish but perfectly formed. We will undoubtedly return.
Review 90:A very pleasant Mas with good food and friendly staff. Easy walking to the old town and if you are there when they "Run" the bulls in the street (as we were by chance) it is great fun.
Review 91:We did not find anything to dislike there.
Review 92:The entire staff was so welcoming, helpful and concerned. We appreciated all the time and effort they spent to help us. The dinners were wonderful! The property was so pretty and well kept with 2 lovely pools.
Review 93:First I had made the resevation in February and when I double chcked on it In July the hotel claimed they had never gotten the reservation. And naturally the good room I had reserved was not available. So I had to take what was available. The room lacked enough electrical outlets, a mirror near an electrical outlet so I could do my hair and any type of view. Once we were there I realized why the reservation was lost, the staff's attention to detail and follow through was definitly lacking. The reservation included breakfast and dinner. The food was very good but the service was so slow and uneven. One night dinner took tthree hours. It took over an hour for them to bring the first course. I wanted to leave and go back to the room but my husban said "No", he was hungry! The next morning they ran out of eggs and cereal and never replenished. Someone must have complained because the next night there were different and more staff and the dinner process was much more efficient.
Review 94:The hotel is in a beautiful setting and there grounds are lovely. It is within walking distance to the town of St Remy and the Glanum historical sight as well as the convalescent hospital where Van Gogh stayed.
Review 95:Everything, although we missed a night because of a delayed flight and were charged regardless. They said that they would send an email to that effect but we haven't yet received it. I would appreciate it if you could get them to do so asap. Alex and Anna Gropper, Toronto, Canada
Review 96:On the day we arrived it was raining. As we not staying in the mainbuilding we had to walk a short distance to reach the second building. The young man who showed us to our room...fetched an umbrella forhimself but did not offer us one. When we arrived at the secondbuilding, he stood inside the doorway (efectively blocking our entry outof the rain) and shook his umbrella dry before stepping aside to let usenter. Perhaps a little more consideration for the comfort of thecustomer might be needed here. Other than this we found all the otherstaff wonderful.
Review 97:We stayed four nights at Mas de Carassins in St Remy de Provence andthoroughly enjoyed it. We used it as a base for seeing other Provencesights all within easy driving distance. We found the hotel staff veryfriendly. The room was beautiful and elegantly furnished. The gardenswere spectacular with fountains and flowers everywhere. Lots of littlenooks and shady corners in the garden to sit out and enjoy the sound ofrunning water and birdsong. We had half board accommodation...and I amglad we did. The breakfasts were generous with hot and cold buffet. Thedinners were wonderful gourmet experiences. How great it was to returnfrom a day's sightseeing and not have to worry about booking arestaurant ..but knowing a delicious meal was waiting for us.
Review 98:Everything! We needed to STOP after frenetic holidaying and STOP we did! We had planned to make this a base and drive around the area but the atmosphere at Mas des Carassins kept enticing us 'home'. We could easily return right now.
Review 99:There is need for more effective air conditioning in the rooms duringthe day. At night, the temperature cools down, and the air circulateswell if a window is left open.
Review 100:This hotel is a comfortable, clean, renovated Provincal manor house withbeautifully landscaped grounds directly at the south entrance to Saint-Remy-de-Province. There is excellent access by foot to town, to the Roman ruinsat Glanum, and to the hospital at which Van Gough stayed. With car, places such as Avignon, Nimes, Arles, Orange and Pont-du- Gard areeasily accessible. The breakfast at Mas des Carassins is generous, butit is for dinner that this hotel really shines. Each dinner consists offive parts, expertly and inventively prepared. The dinner has earnedthem a position in the Michelin guide and is worth the reservation andthe stay on its own. A meal here, outdoors in the garden, served withlove and elegance, is an experience.
Review 101:The bathroom in our deluxe room was very small and somewhat tired in itspresentation. My preference is to sleep on a feather pillow but thesewere not available.
Review 102:The hotel is peaceful yet located within close proximity of thetown. Dinner was excellent and the service throughout our staywas exceptional. The grounds are well maintained and the poolarea is lovely.
Review 103:We were disappointed by our small, very contemporary room, as we hadexpected a more "provencal" decor. The modern part of the hotel has somepeculiar design touches and awkward layout, and we could hear the roomnext door all too clearly.
Review 104:The Mas is tucked away in a leafy garden just outside St Remy's centre. The area around, overlooking the Alpilles hills, is lovely. The supperwas tasty and served in their hotel's very pleasant dining room butrelatively pricey.
Review 105:Charming setting. Beautiful grounds. The owners are very attentive and helpful.
Review 106:Tiny room
Review 107:The beautiful setting, the terrific food, the friendly staff
Review 108:Excellent staff, clean spacious rooms, beautiful courtyard and gardens, SUPERB set dinner option.
Review 109:nice, clean room, beautiful gardens, friendly staff, good location - close to town but away from traffic and noise, restaurant on premisses
Review 110:The grounds were lovely. Lots of private areas. The pools were fabulous . 10 minute walk into town. The food was spectacular .
Review 111:everything!!
Review 112:Our room was tiny and the bathroom is even more tiny and not comfortable to use.
