Reviews for Hôtel Le Magellan d'Epernay

Review 1:Rooms are basic and a little uneven floored. Shower had no wall hood so had to hold the whole time. last night was incredibly noisy and some strange people stayed above us and the noise really carries. Breakfast was late last morning (needed to get going!). No Parking.

Review 2:Central Location. Staff are quite friendly.

Review 3:The road outside was used as a racetrack at night or that's what it sounded like. Loud music till early hours. Tables and chairs being dragged out early morning.

Review 4:The location was ok but close to a lively pub

Review 5:The room overlooked the street and there were a few guys at the downstairs cafe (part of the hotel) smoking first thing in the morning and into the night-- couldn't open the windows without being overwhelmed by the smell. The walls are very thin. The hotel only had two rooms booked that night and they were adjacent ones, and we could hear our neighbors' every move. The bed was literally nothing but thinly covered springs that sags when you lie down and bounces if someone else does

Review 6:Easy check in and out

Review 7:When I booked, I hadn't realised that there would be no one there on a Sunday so you needed a key code. It felt a bit lonely, as there's no receptionist to offer advise etc. These are just rooms to let, above a cafe really....not a hotel.

Review 8:The location of the hotel is ideal for exploring the town. The breakfast was good and staff lovely.

Review 9:Chose the hotel due to the aircondition, this was nor working and they would not even try to fix it! Staff was not friendly and helpfull!

Review 10:The hotel is located exactly in the center of the City, close to restaurants and the Avenue de champagne!

Review 11:It looks more like an hostel, the bedroom is basic, and you really pay just to have a place where to sleep and that's it. The price is very affordable but it doesn't meant it has not be clean!

Review 12:I liked the position of this place, central, not far from the train station or the tourism office.

Review 13:No cups / glasses in room Broken shelf / no shelf in bathroom No one there to check us in etc @ 7.00 pm (Check in was until 8.00pm?)

Review 14:Good location in the centre of Épernay Very close to bars restaurants & champagne houses, etc

Review 15:Nothing to complain about

Review 16:Great location in town centre, easy walk to everything. Very clean, comfortable basic rooms and bathrooms. Good breakfast for a very reasonable extra cost. Staff friendly and helpful. Stayed here twice now and would again.

Review 17:Reception had closed, I think permanently for the season, a typed note of how to enter the hotel was stuck on window. No one available to ask any questions or contact if an emergency. Felt a little unsafe. If had been travelling on my own or with another women would not have been happy to have stayed at this hotel.

Review 18:No tea and coffee facilities in the room

Review 19:In town centre, 20 mins walk from Ave de Champagne; parking in nearby multistory (les Arcades) c.€6 for 24 hours; modern, clean room of decent size; good value for money

Review 20:The bed was hard. It was very noisy. The walls are thin. Could hear every movement from rooms beside and above (creaking floorboards and squeaking doors that need oiling).

Review 21:Great location. Clean.

Review 22:Extra charge for kitchen cleaning if not left spotless. This is not helpful if it is a one night stop as you will not have enough time to clean up.

Review 23:Staff and hotel very good. The town has many interesting features for visitors.

Review 24:A little bit noisy from the trafic in the morning. We had to sleep with open window, because there was no air condition in the room.

Review 25:walking distance to restaurants and city center. Easy to park the car nearby. Simple rooms, but just okay for 2 nights.

Review 26:Airconditioning didn´t work so room was stuffy and, with the window open very noisy all night. Bed was very hard and uncomfortable. Room feels small and cramped.

Review 27:Location couldn´t be better, room and bathroom were spotless.

Review 28:Room was on the third floor and there was no elevator. The property was also undergoing construction during our stay.

Review 29:The property was located in the heart of Epernay. It was walking distance to restaurants, shops and other attractions including the Avenue de Champagne. The room was clean and appointed with the necessities. Overall it is a good value.

Review 30:Room was an adequate size with an excellent bathroom (awesome shower). The location was close to the train and town centre. Management were lovely and very helpful (even when the language barrier was an obstacle!)

Review 31:Really great location for restaurants and cave visits. Great value and super staff.

Review 32:In the right spot for investigating Epernay and the various cellars on Champagne avenue.

Review 48:The cleanliness, the proximity, the staff, all great!

Review 49:Rooms clean and quite big, good location.

Review 50:Weather was very hot and room was also hot. That and some street noise meant disturbed sleep.

Review 51:Location; recently refurbished and clean.

Review 52:airconditioning was in repair

Review 53:breakfast was very good

Review 54:They have no parking lots in the vicinity, but you get informed where to park for free, so it's okay

Review 55:Not worth a star... is overrated.

Review 56:No A/c No Fridge, No Tea Making facilities. Room above noisy street. No English speaking channels on tv

Review 57:Breakfast

Review 58:We asked for glasses and the owner gave us champagne flutes and an ice bucket. They also have the best shower!!!
