Reviews for Le Vallon de Valrugues & Spa

Review 1:Small bathroom. Very shabby - and small - elevator, a real disgrace. A simple glass of wine in the hotel bar costs a fortune.

Review 2:Very nice breakfast. Room modern but rather small. Separate toilet.

Review 3:1. Reception: Our greeting on arrival from the 2 ladies on reception (Aug 23 2015) was initially a little dismissive and not particularly welcoming, compared to the warm welcome received at The InterContinental (Marseille) and other French hotels we've stayed at. However, other staff over the weekend were much better. 2. Small pool

Review 4:- Excellent breakfast staff: The staff in the restaurant were helpful, attentive, polite and accommodating. - Nice outside seating for breakfast - Peaceful hotel setting

Review 5:Had a wonderful stay (3 nights). Saint-Remy is a charming town. Hotel is walking distance from center of town (10 minutes). They offer transfers into town (with a fee) but we did not use this service. A lovely outdoor pool with sunbeds was a nice relaxing area after a full day of sightseeing. They also have an indoor pool / spa. Staff very helpful with making dinner arrangements, tours etc. Housekeeping very efficient and we always returned to a refreshed room with new towels etc. We hope to return soon and we will definitely come back to Le Vallon de Valrugues&Spa!

Review 6:charging 5 euro for the navette to St Remy when you stay several nights in a 530 euro room is a bit over the top , especially if the sister hotel l Image does´t charge for it ( and is cheaper at 4 stars ) . Hope that they can get the Telcom to provide fiberoptic soon , 3 MB/s reminds me of home.

Review 7:great location , staff and facilities , 5 min by electric bike to wonderful St Remy . An oasis for those that prefer to stay away from the overdone Côte d´Azur .

Review 8:Very dated. 5 star hotels don't hand you irons with electric cords that are sellotaped together. I don't appreciate being duped about wine selections just because you don't wish to admit you don't have what we had asked for.

Review 9:Reasonable location.

Review 10:Still needs some renovations here and there.

Review 11:The staff was very welcoming, the restaurant was very good, swimming pool and spa were nice. All for a reasonable price.

Review 12:The gourmet menu was limited and of poor quality. For the first time in our lives my wife and I rejettes the first two courses and declined to continue with the meal. As the room service menu was also very limited, we went to bed hungry. We ate our evening meals elsewhere afterwards. The absence of a more traditional evenîng menu is a mistake - the restaurant is beautiful and we would have liked to eat there, but we found the quality of the meals offertes to be well below our expectations.

Review 13:The excellent staff, the beautiful room And gardens, And the beautiful in door And out door pools.

Review 14:Peaceful and private location staff was excellent in all areas, we travel quite a lot and have high expectations and this hotel fitted with that including the food in all areas .. The only one if there was to be a fault was that the principal common rooms lacked air conditioning and that was important in the heat .

Review 15:We were thoroughly impressed with the attention to detail and the attentive nature of all of the staff here. Our meal at dinner was superb! Cannot say enough good things.

Review 16:Breakfast was below average and way to expensive. Requested continental and charged for full breakfasts _ 90 euros for two people / ridiculous

Review 17:Parking, location, grounds, staff, quite and presentation of evening meal.

Review 18:The hotel missed our expectations. It's not a 5 stars as one can image. Small reception, a little to essential decor both in the common area than in the suite. The staff was unhelpful and with a unashamed lack of interest. No wifi in my mobile tel and in 5 days they didn't even tried to solve the problem.

Review 19:The junior suite was spacious. The position (isolated, but parking was free) makes to able to reach many points of interest.

Review 20:this is a 5 star hotel and spa. Everything is very luxurious - the decor, the room, the spa, we enjoyed our stay very much and hope to be back soon! the staff takes great pride in their work, especially Penelope the manager.

Review 21:Nothing, though reservation in the restaurant is quite essential

Review 22:Very attentive staff, gourmet restaurant, nice location. Perfect place for countryside runaway

Review 23:We loved relaxing on the patio. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. We enjoyed your shuttle service to any place we wished to go. my husband loved the jacuzzi and said it was the biggest he had ever been in.

Review 24:A 5 star hotel comes with certain expectations. I rate it as a 4star.The rooms are small. The highly rated chef and restaurant was disappointing. The soup was lukewarm, the scampies undercooked, almost raw. My veal was not tender.

Review 25:A hidden quiet hotel close to the charming center of town. The pool is great. Breakfast was well presented.

Review 26:I hated the junior suite it's over prized compared to the 5 star hotels we stayed in. We asked to have a up grade and there wasn't no rooms left. The view from the window was horrible, and the room was small compared to what you see on the internet photo. And the last night the air conditioner wasn't working properly, and we was up early to have a shower and it was cold. Bit disappointed with the hotel, but St Remy itself is a beautiful location.

Review 27:I liked the pool and the breakfast in the Resturant

Review 28:Room cleaning very late in day - after 2.30 Extra bed broke in the middle of the night - could have resulted in injury and had to spend half the night on the sofa - staff were uninterested when told

Review 29:Views from the windows were plain. Rooms were small and did not provide much work space for sitting at a desk. Casual dining was extremely limited and service in the formal dining of the hotel restaurant was somewhat chilly. The hotel bar was an uninviting windowless room that did not inspire us to want to stay and enjoy company over a drink - despite a very friendly bartender, it felt more like a service station for preparing beverages that were then brought out to diners in the formal dining area. After our first night we found ourselves preferring to dine outside of the hotel because the hotel bar for an after dinner drink was so uninviting.

Review 30:Location was nice - St. Remy was very close and a great location from which to explore all of the surrounding region. The grounds of the property were attractive. The front desk staff was very helpful and professional. The pool, spa and fitness facilities were attractive and well maintained. Bathrooms in rooms were clean and large with plenty of storage space. The room had ample storage in closets.

Review 31:Room 1 was lovely & spacious, clean with comfy bed. Staff very helpful. Facilities very good

Review 32:Location, facilities, very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 33:everything was excellent!

Review 34:Very young children in the pool!!!

Review 35:Nothing.

Review 36:Was well pampered in this stunning location. Everything was fantastic.

Review 37:Great location. Staff helpful and friendly. Beautiful pool. Fabulous room.

Review 38:Everything was perfection

Review 39:outstanding quality at restaurant, very creative and very high standard food ! good quality SPA and massages, amazing situation and very nice suite

Review 40:Small bathroom

Review 41:Excellent food

Review 42:Evening restaurant lacks atmosphere

Review 43:Breakfast in bed

Review 44:Absolutely nothing what so ever.

Review 45:Everything

Review 46:Pride of staff serving breakfast - clearly delighted with what was on offer, and rightly so

Review 47:Rental Bicycles available And close to town

Review 48:Didn't stay long enough...

Review 49:The room was very nice (shutters made it very dark for sleeping in) and the staff was terrific in cleaning and resupplying everything. We had them prepare a gourmet picnic for us to have on top of the hills. Everyone went out of their way to do above and beyond everything to make us have a great time.

Review 50:Road/route into St Remy from Hotel a little narrow and somewhat busyin terms of traffic-shuttle service -even morning and evening would be anice touch! Cost of buffet breakfast at 23 euro is expensive for what itwas + dogs allowed in dining room was not to my liking.

Review 51:Ambiance,fresh linen everyday, friendly and helpful staff.

Review 52:Would prefer another option for restaurant in the hotel. The gastronomic restaurant is great but a more casual option in addition would be welcome.

Review 53:Fabulous room and location. Beautiful property.

Review 54:Room was not ready at check-in (45-minute wait)despite having phoned ahead to confirm it would be available at 3pm. Staff on phone also confirmed shuttle availability to go into town for dinner - but at check-in, we discovered the shuttle stops running at 8pm; and somehow no taxis exist. Eventually a staff member did solve the problem by personally driving the shuttle to pick us up, which was kind and much appreciated. But that only happened after far too much discussion.

Review 55:Loved the luxury of the Vincent Van Gogh suite. A real treat.

Review 56:There was really nothing that we didn't like about this hotel.

Review 57:It was a charming and comfortable hotel with very friendly staff. We couldn't have asked for more.

Review 58:The "gourmet" restaurant was not gourmet ! We had thedegustation menu and spent the fixed 240 Euros- excluding wine- (whichis a high enough cost for dinner anywhere in the world) hoping toexperience decent french cooking. It was dissapointing to say the least. Some of the restaurants we tried in St.Remy and around were much muchbetter in terms of taste, let alone value.

Review 59:The service and attentiveness in this hotel is exceptional. Breakfastdeserves 5 stars.

Review 60:The hotel felt a little cold as nearly none of the staff spoke English and didn't seems to bother about them. Don’t expect service whilst laying at the pool – you will have to get up and order it from the bar. It is also a huge effort to make them understand that we wanted to sit outside whilst having our breakfast as the breakfast room is extremely warm and humid. Whilst trying to enjoy your breakfast outside the staff is already setting up for lunch and is it not pleasant nor relaxing.

Review 61:We had the junior suite that was a great room with a view over the pool. There was actually a coffee machine in the room, which was great as this in not normally standard in hotels. The reception staff was very friendly and helpful assisting us with our dinner reservations. The hotel is situated in a central place - easy walk into town.

Review 62:Both the Room Service breakfast and the breakfast service/selection provided in the restaurant were disappointing when compared to the rest of our experience.

Review 63:The staff were fantastic. Our room was excellent and room service food from the bistro menu was superb. They provide a shuttle into Saint-Remy which is a lovely small town and should not be missed.

Review 64:Food was a bit expensive and very limited in choices.

Review 65:The staff where so amazing and helpful. One day they drove us to town for water and then took it back for us so we didn't have to carry it. Location was very nice.

Review 66:The hotel is in a quiet area just outside the really busy pretty town of St Remy. It is just a 10 minute walk into the centre of town with its many cafes shops etc. The pool area is great for relaxing around after a busy day. Our room had a little deck for that afternoon aperitif.

Review 67:For a five star hotel the magnificent staff made it still feel relaxed and intimate. Sensational location....so close to the gorgeous village of St Remy. Facilities great but it was the staff we will remember so fondly. When our car battery ran flat...the immediate help given to us was wonderful. The fine dining restaurant was also memorable. Plus I loved the way this beautiful hotel was dog friendly.

Review 68:The service of the restaurant gastronomique was bad and not at all at the level you could expect but food was very good. The lack of attention to clients is permanent. If you leave before 7.00 AM in the morning... there is nobody to do the check-out!!

Review 69:The location is great and hotel is generally nice. Spent 2 nights there in a suite.

Review 70:nothing it was perfect

Review 71:Personally shown around hotel. Did all asked for daughters 21st birthday - champagne, chocolates, birthday cake, booked meal at restaurant. Attendant arrived as we did in car to collect our bags. Made to feel really special. Very relaxing.

Review 72:We were meant to have a suite and the hotel placed us in a small doubleroom next to the linen closet. As a result our sleeping baby was oftendisturbed. The bed was awful. We sank to the floor each time we climbedon. The advertised 24/7 room service was not available in theevenings and shut 2 days a week. Compared to other hotels we stayed inbefore and after it, with the same room type, it was very bad value.

Review 73:Nothing really. We had high hopes and were bitterly disappointed.

Review 74:The Bistro Menu was limited, it could be made a bit more interesting. Perhaps Le Chef could be persuaded to add Chicken and Pasta dishes to his menu. But the service was superb, really lovely.

Review 75:The Vallon De Vallrugues was a delight, lovely room and the Spa is so fantastic, actually the best considering we travel worldwide and the Queen Mary 11 Spa is almost as good. Fabulous location and you can walk to town (St.Remy) in 10 minutes. All the staff were extremely friendly and did their utmost to make your stay therein the best. We hope to return there as soon as time will permit. Our thanks to all at the Vallon De Vallrugues for a wonderful time. Caroline & Bahram. (August 2012)

Review 76:Dinner served in disappointing coffee shop type room because of rain and main dining room not used.Menu was not very inspiring so decide to eat in town. Not a good view from our room. Outrageously expensive drinks from the bar !

Review 77:lovely pool area and terrace

Review 78:Spa was excellent, the room were nice and the staff helpful. The location was a 15 min walk to the center of St Remy.

Review 79:Wi-fi signal was very weak.

Review 80:Dinner in the restaurant was amazing!

Review 81:Hotel facilities very tired and nothing special. Dinners and meals in very uninspired dining rooms

Review 82:Spa and staff

Review 83:The hotel is simply superb! Everything is great and I only wish we stayed more there.

Review 84:Nothing

Review 85:Everything was fantastic! Staff, facilities, service, spa, pool, e-bike rental, location, gourmet restaurant.......

Review 86:Very relaxing. Love and clean comfy room. Good value

Review 87:the bath room was very old and really need a check up not a bath room for a hotel with 5star rate - even bath rooms from 3stars hotels are better !

Review 88:Nothing to complain about.

Review 89:Staff, pool, quiet setting.

Review 90:only one armchair in room shortage of space for clothes

Review 91:good pool

Review 92:All good

Review 93:Breakfast was a little over priced.

Review 94:Great pool, and terrace area. Balcony in room was perfect. Had every facility needed.

Review 95:Everything was great!!!

Review 96:Staff was very personable and professional. Helpful

Review 97:Room too small

Review 98:Service

Review 99:The attention to details...

Review 100:Staff & food were amazing!

Review 101:the room was very little

Review 102:The restaurant and degustation menu was superb!!!

Review 103:Beautiful renovations in the rooms Great Spa
