Reviews for Hotel Le Clos Raymi

Review 1:Stunning building short walk into town. The bedrooms decorated stylishly and luxuriously. Breakfast was memorable- perfectly scrambled eggs and choice of french pastries, fresh fruit salad and that really thick plain yogurt. The owner was delightful

Review 2:Two weeks on France, breakfast included in all other bookings, but not via booking.com, surprised at checkout with 18 Euro per person breakfast cost (72 Euro) added to bill. Cost of breakfast and high amount unpleasant surprise. Doubt I'll use booking.com again.

Review 3:Location, accommodations,

Review 4:not a bad experience at all, but the bathroom was a bit sparsome, especially with shampoo or bathing gel

Review 5:lovely breakfast, charming building, extremely friendly staff

Review 6:Way too expensive, and breakfast is extra. No tea making facilities. I've stayed in better 2 star places. Indeed,I've stayed in 4 star places for the same money.

Review 7:Good location

Review 8:No shower screen across bath, it was very difficult to stop the water splashing on the floor. WiFi a bit fiddly and not responsive at times.

Review 9:The breakfast was superb. Dainty, fresh and perfectly presented.

Review 10:Breakfast was expensive at 18€. We had the twin room which I think is overpriced for what you get - it's a small room, you get no view and you have to walk up four flights of stairs - you are at the top of the house, like an attic.

Review 11:The location was a short walk to town which made it easy to walk to restaurants. There is off street parking behind a secure gate. The TV has two BBC stations in English.

Review 12:nothing too major, was supplied with water in room, would be better with tea or coffee

Review 13:Fantastic house full of history near town centre secure parking friendly staff

Review 14:We stayed on a bank holiday weekend and the whole town was shut on a Saturday night!

Review 15:Great location, quirky art and lovely comfortable room. Breakfast was excellent

Review 16:We didn't opt for the breakfast as we considered it a little pricey at €18 pp (even though that does seem to be the going rate in France) However the mouth watering croissant smells wafting through the hotel in the mornings nearly tempted us.

Review 17:Beautiful hotel - former house of Chandon. Lovely rooms and we had a wonderful shower!

Review 18:We booked a room for myself (who was 6 months pregnant) and two children, one who needed a cot. The room was advertised as a family room with a free cot on booking.com. Upon arrival the owner said the room was for two adults and was very rude and unhelpful stating that a cot couldn't possibly fit in the room (it could with a little rearranging). She insisted the single bed was big enough for my one year old to sleep head to toe with his five year old sister (which it wasn't!) Because it was the evening there was no way we'd find an alternative hotel at that time. My one year old spent half the night on the floor on a make shift bed made from pillows and blankets which didn't work out and he spent half the night uncontrollably crying because he kept getting stuck under the beds, disturbing the guests in the other rooms. After a horrid night, where no one slept, we had a dreadful expensive breakfast where we were served a mashed up egg with bits of bacon in it, and the buffet consisted of fruit salad which looked like it had been there for days and gone off yogurt. Overall this hotel was a disaster; rude unhelpful owners when it was their mistake, overpriced tiny, tired room, and a dreadful breakfast.

Review 19:Stayed at hotel previously and very satisfied but on this occasion hotel more expensive and breakfast disappointing - fruit salad old, yogurt off, cooked portions very small. Reception not very welcoming.

Review 20:Location, secure parking. Young staff very pleasant.

Review 21:A nice, quiet, charmingly traditional hotel near the centre of Epernay with a secure car park (the gates from the street are closed after dark and require your room key fob to operate) - in short, ideal for me as I was travelling in my Jaguar E-Type. Good value for money and altogether a pleasant place for an overnight stop.

Review 22:The hotel was charming, diverse art all over the hotel, a gorgeous old building, full of character, lovely position away from the champagne houses but just a short walk to reach them.

Review 23:One of the best hotels we've stayed in, soft fluffy, large bath towels, they've managed to include modern facilities in a beautiful old house full of character and charm. Lovely garden to sit in and very close to the Champagne Houses and town centre.

Review 24:Had booked a superior room so that we could have a bigger bed for a decent nights sleep, When we arrived we were put in a small room with a very small bed, when we asked about the room we had booked we were told the place was full and this was the only room available. The room was at the top of the first floor so all other guests walked past our room - very noisy and we could hear people walking around above us. They didn't seem too worried that we weren't happy.

Review 25:Lovely place in a good location

Review 26:Really poor room at top of house, felt like the poor relations. Breakfast was 18 euros, did'nt risk it. Would not stay again.

Review 27:Location, gardens and secure parking. Hosts were very nice.

Review 28:Room was perfectly adequate but small (and stuffy, but it was mid-heatwave!). Staff were pleasant but formal - not the most relaxing place we've stayed. Breakfast good but very expensive.

Review 29:Good location (even better had we been visiting the big champagne houses), impressive building and grounds, lots of free parking.

Review 30:Lovely old house and well kept garden, but almost surrounded by an industrial estate.

Review 31:You don't often get a cooked breakfast in France! Easy walking distance of Epernay town centre. Well appointed, individually styled rooms.

Review 32:Although there was a buffet breakfast we had to wait a considerable time to be brought bread, coffee and juice which were not laid out. This well-meaning attempt to offer a personal service just proved irritating.

Review 33:Beautiful hotel in lovely peaceful surroundings.

Review 34:There is nothing to dislike.

Review 35:Period property set in walled garden with a beautifully decorated interior. Good breakfast and helpful staff. Close proximity to Epernay centre.

Review 36:I booked 2 superior rooms, one was ok the other was uncomfortably small, not even big enough to store a suit case, the shower was unusable and the bed quiet literally as hard as a park bench! When I questioned with the staff I was told I was 'dramatique', only here for one night and told I could leave if I wanted.....but would be charged!

Review 37:Breakfast yoghurt was nice but it was 18 Euros

Review 38:Staff was cold, and try to argue with me when I decided not to have breakfast. The owner had to reprint my bill and was very annoyed with me for that reason. Why is taking a line item off a bill and hitting print such a difficult thing to do? She was really mad and let me know. Her attitude was so uncalled for and unprofessional. It was not a big deal. I've worked in hotels for a long time, and giving a guest a hard time over something so silly is not necessary. For this reason I can not recommend this property.

Review 39:the room was comfortable.

Review 40:This hotel is gorgeous. Beautiful grounds and very well appointed rooms. When we first arrived, we enquired about a laundry facility or laundromat since we've been traveling through France for more than a week and needed clean clothes. My French is limited but I had looked it up on my google translate app. It was as if I was asking how to get to the moon. The matron/owner couldn't understand what we wanted or why. She said we need to consult the beaureau de tourism. Finally one of the ladies from her staff was able to help us. We located a laundromat and the rest is history. Upon check out, the charge was 20 euro more than Booking had quoted. Of course we had no recourse since the matron does not speak English at all and our French is limited. Leaves a bad taste in one's mouth. Complete lack of helpfulness on the part of the woman in charge.

Review 41:Not being given the room we had specifically booked on the Booking.com website. We had no option but to accept another, inferior one, but were still charged the top rate.

Review 42:Charming hotel & garden. Secure parking. Exemplary attention to detail regarding guests' possible requirements.

Review 43:Beautiful room, all the comforts you could ask for: bathrobe, water in room, extra fluffy comforter and pillow, large bathroom, all toiletries and lots of outlets. Couldn't ask for a better place. Wonderful fresh breakfast in morning, great gathering room downstairs for our group. Close to wonderful restaurants and train station. A 10 all the way around!!

Review 44:Wifi code only worked for one device, code only available from reception during opening hours, kept having to sign in to wifi on return to hotel. Breakfast was lovely and massive but expensive at €18 - would maybe have preferred to pay €10-12 for a smaller range of choices.

Review 45:Good location not far from Av de Champagne and Epernay centre, comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff, nicely decorated overall, massive breakfast (extra cost €18), off road parking.

Review 46:It was very expensive... No wi-fi, although the staff said there was, a cat roamed the hall, and cried out-side our door very early in the morning. The cat was also on the eating space. Staff didn't have a map of the town and didn't explain the locked door and locked gate until asked.

Review 47:It was very pretty

Review 48:It's hard to fault Really

Review 49:Well kept very quirky but friendly and inviting hotel excellent location for walking into the centre of Epernay. Breakfast absolutely superb with great variety and quality. Only good value 'though if you are used to eating large breakfasts. We aren't Would recommend to anyone.

Review 50:The only thing I would have liked to see was coffee in the bedroom. Hardly a show stopper!

Review 51:The rooms are lovely, charming & the beds comfortable. The showers are excellent. The hotel is quiet, the breakfast wonderful & the staff couldn't be more helpful. I will certainly stay there again.

Review 52:The bed was meant for one person, not two.

Review 53:The house was beautifully decorated with interesting, unique items in the halls, rooms and in the "living room". The garden was nice. Secure parking in the garden behind locked gate.

Review 54:WiFi - horrific. We used WiFi each day of our trip to plotwhat/where we would go/do each day. This WiFi was next touseless! Breakfast too expensive for what you get. Had to take bath aswas not possible to use shower - it would have flooded the whole room -no shower curtin.

Review 55:We are from Australia and were given the ''Colonial" room -good to see our host has a sense of humor. The room was tastefullydecorated. Loved the ease of parking on the premises. Easy to accessafter hours - getting back late from dinner.

Review 56:A little pricey but I would go back for a special treat

Review 57:Stunning building, literally a stones throw from Moet & Chandon. The decor was fabulous and the breakfast was delicious.

Review 58:We were sorry to leave

Review 59:Proximity to Epernay Champagne houses Off-street parking, Helpful staff, magnificant breakfasts For anyone visiting Champagne a stay here is a must.

Review 60:Internet not simple to get on.

Review 61:The secure easily accessible carpark, the mansion style home. & quiet surroundings easy walk to attractions around town.

Review 62:An establishment proves its worth when "things" go wrong. Unfortunately our two night booking was only registered as being one night. Valerie arranged accommodation at another venue for the second night, transported our luggage there while we were on a tour and paid the new establishment the difference as she ensured we had an upgraded room .....now that is service! Nonetheless Hotel Clos Raymi was so delightful we would have rather stayed there for the 2 nights.

Review 63:Hotel Clos Raymi is a small boutique establishment tucked away in the backstreets of Epernay within easy walking distance of the town centre. It oozes personality and charm....as does Valerie and her colleague. Our room - Toscane - was beautifully appointed including a modern bathroom with a large walk-in shower.

Review 64:We were charged for breakfast even though we did not have it and we advised the owner the previous night that we were cancelling it which she agreed to it. Room was hot, no air conditioning.

Review 65:Location Grounds and furnishings were beautiful.

Review 66:No tea/coffee facilities, and no bar to have a drink and relax in, although there was a lounge

Review 67:Very clean room with a comfortable bed and great shower, also free parking

Review 68:No chairs in the bedroom. No information about local restaurants. 'Double' bed was in fact two singles put together.

Review 69:Position Welcome Breakfast Quiet Bath (rather than shower!)

Review 70:Nothing

Review 71:The Façade of the Hotel on arrival is wow. A safe private Car Park. The room bed room was amazing. The décor of the hotel is brilliant. The breakfast was wonderful and the Staff are so friendly and helpful.

Review 72:Stayed at Champagne Room. It was not a grand room as I had hoped in fact quite small and they had partioned part to be the bathroom which destroyed the overall appeal of the room. Bed very comfortable though.

Review 73:Beautiful old building and I liked the decor in the public areas inside and outside. Peaceful.

Review 74:Attractive and characterful small chateau style bed and breakfast hotel close to the centre of Epernay. Each of the bedrooms is distinctively and very imaginably decorated as are the bathrooms. The facilities are very good and parking outside the house is very secure with a gate to the street closed at night but openable by guests. Breakfast is very good including a good range of cold and some hot options and served in an attractive small dining room overlooking a quiet and green courtyard. We have stayed in the Le Clos Raymi three times and have always had a good experience.

Review 75:Not great VfM was a bit pricey; communal rooms in the house locked down early evening

Review 76:Beautiful house, lovely breakfast, pleasant staff, easy walk into Epernay

Review 77:No tea and coffee making facilities. The toilet separate from shower but no hand basin. Felt it was a little expensive for what it was, but would stay again.

Review 78:Excellent location in terms of closeness to the town although not the best part. Typical small French chateau with adequate parking. Not plush but sufficient. Owners have a liking for object d'art. Themed rooms and we stayed in Provencale. Coffee/tea making facilities would have been nice in the rooms. We did not have breakfast as 18 euros each was expensive. Town centre within easy reach as was the champagne houses.

Review 79:Slog to the top floor with heavy bags

Review 80:This is a great little arty place with lots of bric a brac and artworks. It's converted from a big old house. We stayed in the attic room called cosy which was very small but clean and functional as we were only in champagne for one night. All the big champagne houses on avenue de champagne are easy walking distance and it has it's own parking. Pet friendly although our cognac a few run ins with their cat. Breakfast is really excellent by French chambre d'hôte standards.

Review 81:Very narrow bed. OK if weather is cold but not so OK in the heat of summer....

Review 82:Beautiful house very clean and with some superb art on display. The feel of a private country house.

Review 83:No shower curtain in bathroom I understand this is an old property, but at the price we paid I would have expected much needed repairs to building could be made. Breakfast was not included in the price. Service was virtually non existant.

Review 84:Location - close to City Centre and Ave De Champagne

Review 85:Some people may have trouble carrying their bags up the stairs.

Review 86:The room & bathroom were a good size, breakfast had a good variety, parking was off the street, the staff were helpful, nice gardens. Great location to be able walk to Epernay's attractions.

Review 87:At 170eur a night for the cheapest room I would have expected a more hotel like (vs bed and breakfast like) experience. However I discovered that the pricing was inline with the pricey-ness of Epernay as a whole.

Review 88:1930 decor was very nice and lifted the otherwise quite small rooms. To have secure parking was also a real plus

Review 89:Very small room; poor value for money. Two staff not very welcoming on arrival. Essentially it is an attractive, but expensive bed and breakfast

Review 90:Attractive old house in Epernay

Review 91:It did feel over priced. There was no mention in any previous reviewseither that the hotel is next to the Moet et Chandon research lab, andwe were woken by the constant sound of trucks and breaking glass. If youeat breakfast outside it is very loud.

Review 92:The attention to detail of tge decor was good.

Review 93:Beautiful building, superb location, excellent welcome, great breakfast, cannot think of anything we didn't like

Review 94:Position

Review 95:wooden floors can be noisy

Review 96:Breakfast

Review 97:One person was not helpful.

Review 98:Car parking. The proprietress.

Review 99:no one explained the wifi could not get it to work. plastic mattres cover made it hot to sleep on

Review 100:location, room was very quite, breakfast

Review 101:The welcome and general attitude of the owner.

Review 102:Location. Interesting building,

Review 103:Quiet location but still near everything. Quirky Interesting rooms

Review 104:Bed was not very comfortable.

Review 105:Lovely property and good location. Breakfast was good but a bit expensive.

Review 106:Beautifully decorated bedroom

Review 107:Hosts were excellent and rooms were lovely

Review 108:Staff.

Review 109:Camera da letto e location centrale.

Review 110:Rather expensive for what it is - a B & B

Review 111:Quality of accommodation and the secure parking

Review 112:The location and décor of the hotel was excellent and it was very clean. Also the secure parking was great.

Review 113:Minimal room. Small bed and no facilities. Not worth the money. Very expensive

Review 114:No there was nothing we disliked

Review 115:The house was beautiful with a lovely old garden and plenty of car parking space which was secure as behind a gate

Review 116:Ambiance, location and parking

Review 117:Very expensive for a hotel without a restaurant - breakfast was very expensive so we did not indulge.

Review 118:the secure car park

Review 119:Very Nice place, close to city center - staff us wonderful and the rooms are cosy and clean! Wonderful stay!

Review 120:Absolutely Nothing.

Review 121:Close to the centre of Épernay. Tastefully decorated period house in private grounds. Fantastic breakfast.

Review 122:Two flights is stairs to room and poor ventilation. Room very small for price.

Review 123:The lady of the house would not serve us with a bottle of champagne at ten two nine in the evening No lift

Review 124:Unique bedroom. Wonderful setting. Excellent food.

Review 125:Nothing!

Review 126:A very great place to stay!

Review 127:Close to key locations in Epernay Lovely old home Secure off street parking Lovely gardens

Review 128:No tea coffee facilities...could have it in the sitting room that is not used.

Review 129:The building gives you a feel of the past
