Reviews for Grand Hôtel Clichy Paris

Review 1:No lounge area or bar to speak of

Review 2:Staff excellent. Bed very comfy

Review 3:This hotel misses the basic confort expected nowadays. No shower nor toilet in the room. One toilet per floor of about 10 rooms. Showers only on first and fourth floor.

Review 4:Very friendly staff. Refunded one day because I needed to leave earlier unexpectedly. They had all reason not to refund but still she did.

Review 5:- Bad WiFi - Poor breakfast, but not expensive at least - Noise from the busy road - Quite hot rooms with no AC - The area is lacking of choices for food and drink. I wouldn't recommend it, for the same price you can get better hotel in the area around.

Review 6:Not much to like, staff was friendly and if you choose a superior room, you have a decent individual toilet and bathroom and also close to the metro station. Nothing more....

Review 7:No lift, dirty bath room, rubbish stairs , no help. Dirty carpet, small room for couple, small TV

Review 8:Nothing. Some hotel in Africa are better than this hotel

Review 9:No lift. You had to hit the key to make it unlock the door. Bathroom stank of damp. No wine in the "bar". Nothing particularly "grand about this hotel.

Review 10:The room was clean and the bed comfy.

Review 11:rooms quite small coold be a great little hotel, if they would do little improvements (for instance, bring the rest of the hotel to the standard o the bathrooms!

Review 12:friendly night personnel (also day), decent breakfast,

Review 13:Uncomfortable beds and dirty sheets.you cant wash your hands in the toilets because there is no place to wash hands inside it.toilets and showers are awful and smelly

Review 14:Heaters are working almost all the time

Review 15:1.to take shower need to press then get the water to take the shower. its inconvenience. 2. no lift, its hard to get the luggage to upstairs

Review 16:1. this area is safe, we back to hotel around 10~11 PM everyday

Review 17:Being booked on the fifth floor and without elevator. Pulling yoursuitcases upstair through a narrow winding staircase was terrible. Thedoor hinges squeeking so loud everytime you open or close the door. There was no wifi connection in our room as promised.

Review 18:Horrible Wifi that doesn't work in your room and barely works in reception. At booking stage it clearly states that it works in all areas. After asking what the problem was i was told that there must be an issue with both my laptop and phone as they would not connect to the network (meanwhile there were 2 other travellers having the same issue) Shower facilities are disgustingly poor. I'm perfectly fine with shared bathroom situations but 1 shower (which hardly worked) for 4 floors is highly unacceptable. After checking my credit card it appeared that they took full payment before i had even arrived rather than just taking the specified deposit. I was meant to stay for 2 nights but was absolutely appalled with this hotel so checked out early. Even if you try raise an issue with the reception they pretend to not know english after previously speaking perfect english to you. Even after translating to french on their computer for them they still continued to say they didn't understand. This is an absolute disgrace of a hotel and I would suggest to everyone to never even consider staying here.

Review 19:Nothing what so ever.

Review 20:dont stay there if you have loads of luggage as there is no lift...

Review 21:Staff was very helpful...I lived in double bedroom without bathroom and toilet. .which were conveniently located nearby..value for money. .tube station is 10 min walk..close to central paris..

Review 22:The cleaning lady was quite rude to us, and the smaller shared bathroom room was uncomfortable with a small shared pillow and no extras.

Review 23:The reception staff were very friendly and the breakfast was pretty good, yoghurt, apple sauce, bread, jams and cereal.

Review 24:The shared shower room is horrible. If you want to have water then press the knob constantly. no pressing, no water. No reserved toilet paper. Double bedroom but got only one towel. receptionist promised to give one more when asked. But did not get that. no lift and we got 5th floor. Don't go there!

Review 25:Well, we did not like anything except the room.

Review 26:The wi-fi was really weak, even in the reception the signal was very, very bad. If I would need to do something online I would have a bad time. The door knobs made too much noise. I could hear every room in the corridor opening their doors.

Review 27:Staff really nice, the room was absolutely confortable.

Review 28:carpet on the staircase and showers need updating, one shower didn't work properly,

Review 29:Nice fresh breakfast every morning, good quality tea and fruit juices, good location, nice reception area

Review 30:The shower on the floor would need better maintenance and more cleaning. And for those who do not like stairs this hotel cannot be recommended - no lift so when you have a heavy suitcase, train your muscles. :-)

Review 31:Excellent price, we could not find anything cheaper. It is close to the metro station, supermarket, bakery. Our room was clean and as we needed it only for sleeping (most time spent in the city centre) it was really OK (for somebody the room could seem too small).

Review 32:Dirty room and bed. If you are girl, please do not choose this hotel because you should climb and carry your luggage for many floors unless you are lucky to stay in lower floor.

Review 33:Good breakfast in buffet and friendly staffs.

Review 34:The room was dirty, no lift for a 5 floor apartment. No tv and no curtain for my room window. Bathroom only in 1st and 4th floor share by others.

Review 35:Its low budget hotel. Staff are friendly. Breakfast included but so so.

Review 36:1. The hotel does not have any elevator. If you get a room in the 4th or top floor, it is tiresome. 2. Roadside rooms are very noisy....even at late night. 3. The rooms does not have good air ventilation system. at summer it is not easy to stay in the room at day time.

Review 37:1. Staff were helpful. 2. The hotel was clean.

Review 38:The bathroom on the first, fourth and sixth floors were broken. After11pm you can not take a shower. The drainage of the shower do not workwell and water leaks through the whole bathroom or become like a smallpool under our feet. The man who works the night shift made me feelextremely unwelcome at hotel.

Review 39:The receptionists, especially the lady who works the morning shift. She was extremely sympathetic, attentive helper. The maid also deserveour appreciation. The location was note 10. The hotel is within zone 1of Paris with easy access to transportation that takes us to thecenter of Paris.

Review 40:The room was very small (had to close the window to get past the foot of the bed). Ther is no elevator and I was lucky to have a room on the first floor. I had to extend my stay for one more night and had to move to a shared bathroom room. The Sower facilty was sub-standard

Review 41:The room was clean and serviced properly

Review 42:The place was disgusting, the photos are a farce. We had one showeravailable to us on the floor above us, therefore 2 floors of the hotelwere sharing the same shower it was disgusting, dingy and dark. Also ina very bad location so far out of Paris in a heavily male dominatedsuburb, I felt very uncomfortable walking about in a dress etc.don't go!!

Review 43:The fact we only stayed 2 nights.

Review 44:There was no coffee and tea facility in the room. Reception had coffeemachine but they charged for having coffee(3 euro each). I paid 105pounds for rooms so I expected it to be better than economy. I preferholiday inn or any other Inns. Biggest disappointment was breakfast.Only Croissants, juice and coffee with some poor quality Cereals. Notvalue for money at all rather expensive.

Review 45:steep staircase with no lift, ok if strong. breakfast was very basic tea coffee juice all from a flask, cornflakes bread and jam, no cheese no meat. the man on reception does not refill the breakfast bar so the small choice soon goes, the lady on reception is brilliant and fills everything at once and gets a 10.sack the man double the hours of the lady and you have an ok hotel

Review 46:good size bedroom and wardrobe space, nice shower room.it was around the corner from the friends we were visiting so great location for us, 30 mins into paris for others.

Review 47:The only bad thing about this hotel is that the shared shower rooms are closed at 23.30 to 6.00. If you come back later late you cant take a bath.

Review 48:Good price

Review 49:There was neither toilets nor bathroom in the rooms. I was on the sixthfloor with no elevator.Il n'y avait ni toilettes ni douche dans les chambres. Ma chambre était au sixième étage sans ascensseur.

Review 50:room originally allocated was on 5th floor - no lift. on arrival the bed had not been made up - used linen still on it. Consequently allocated another room - this time on 1st floor. Room (together with towels) smelt of tobaco.

Review 51:Staff were friendly and addressed the issue re linen with little delay. Good breakfast at a very reasonably cost.

Review 52:- closing bath room at 23:30 - metro line 13 is almost always overloaded (not a problem of hotel, but making traveling to/from city center not comfortable)

Review 53:+ affordable and acceptable + free wifi + personal is very helpful + close to metro + close to shops + close to montmartre

Review 54:The area is not turistic at all. One doesn't feel safe walking at night from the Metro station to the hotel. The room we picked had the toilets and showers outside. The toilet was really gross. The showers were ok but you had to press a button to get the water, you basically have to shower with one hand. The room in general looked dirty.

Review 55:They have free WiFi. About half a mile from the closest Metro station.

Review 56:I have to walk at least 10 minutes to find the nearest metro station. The wifi is weak.

Review 57:The price is acceptable. People can buy food easily in the street where the hotel is located.

Review 58:Only two shower rooms on the 1st and 4th floors for all 4 floors.Showers were broken and had to continuously press by hand for water tokeep running. Shower rooms accessible only until 11pm. Toilets only oneper floor with no heating. Extremely cold. Cistern was broken in twotoilets unable to flush. No toilet paper in two toilets. Light wasbroken in the toilet on our floor and was unable to use at night. Noelevator, had to carry heavy bags up a small flight of stairs.Breakfast was just supermarket bought bread/butter/cereal,could have bought this ourselves from the supermarket, no need to payextra for breakfast. Receptionists do not speak English, and had to useGoogle translate in French to talk to some of them. Wifi was notworking for 3 days (had to spend a lot of money on data roaming). Afterwifi was fixed it was only accessible from the ground floor, not theroom. Television in the room was broken, had to ask for a room change. Not recommend this hotel.

Review 59:The connection to WIFI never worked since we checked in. One of our lamps was broken for three days and on the 4th day, it was finally repaired.

Review 60:The hotel is very environmental protective.

Review 61:Don't expect too much on the facilities. Maybe it's just ourroom's problem, but it's not as good as the one in thepicture...=(

Review 62:Very friendly staff and provides all kinds of maps for travelling. Fairbreakfast.

Review 63:The rooms were SUPER tiny, there was no lift, and we had to change rooms because our light didn't work in the bathroom and the shower head was broken.

Review 64:The location was very convenient as it was only about a 5 minute walk to the metro station.

Review 65:The area is a bit dangerous at night according to my experience andfriends who live in Paris.

Review 66:Friendly and helpful staffs. Good looking lobby for a drink or food.

Review 67:I thought the loo was a little bit smelly and damp, so was the shower, which was on the floor below (though I knew it was not going to be ensuite!) It was a few minutes to walk to either metro station, and nodirect train to the center (I knew that as well, though)

Review 68:The staff were very friendly and helpful! The room was comfy andcozy. You get lots of tv channels, mostly French, but also cnn (us news)breakfast was nice, yogurt, fruit salad etc. Quite a few nice and cheaprestaurants very close.

Review 69:The shower was terrible: no place to put your closes, the shower itself can be described only as tropical rain. Moreover second day there was no hot water.

Review 70:Staff was helpful and friendly, the price was cheap. Location is nice, quite safe area, close to Metro station, several restaurants in the neighbourhood.

Review 71:This hotel was only one small step above a cardboard box on thesidewalk. It could have been used as a location for Les Miserablebecause it was miserable! I was wrong to go this cheap. Don't gohere unless you have absolutely no alternative, even then think twice. One toilet per floor, broken, one shower for the hotel.

Review 72:The price

Review 73:There have been some serious smoking in our room alltough we asked nonsmoking room. Not very tidy toilets or showers (shared).

Review 74:Cheap, near metro station. During out visit it was quiet. Good receptionopening hours.

Review 75:There should be signs in the street, directing to the hotel.

Review 76:Tatiana, the receptionist helped us a lot in giving us a booking confirmation directly from their hotel which was very important in our application for the France tourist visa.

Review 77:5 floors but no lift (my fault I forgot to check) but be aware of this!Rooms on main road with nonstop traffic

Review 78:Friendly staff/ 5mn walk from tube then 10mn to Montmartre/

Review 79:- No lift /Sem elevador- The night recepcionist was very unfriendly and rude/ O recepcionista da noite foi muito antipático - The heating system on the bathroom was not working correctly, therefore it was much more cold than the bedroom/O aquecimento no WC não funcionava bem e ficava muito frio em relação ao quarto - The photos on booking did not correspond to reality.../ As fotos na booking não correspondiam á realidade...

Review 80:- The receptionist lady who have done the check-in/A rececionista que fez o check-in- Breakfast was quite ok for the hotel/ O pequeno-almoço não estava mal de todo para o hotel - The availability to allow our luggage to be kept there until we leave to the airport/ A disponibilidade em deixarem a bagagem a guardar até á partida para o aeroporto - Cleaness /Limpeza

Review 81:I did not like the showers being on a different floor but overall it was a good experience.

Review 82:The location was convenient, clean and the employees very helpful and friendly.

Review 83:the hotel is good location , you could take a metro and reach the city center , m13 is line . room is clean and everything is new only a little strange smell in bathroom. breakfast is also nice and hotel recepsion is very kind too

Review 84:Bannisters was loose and dangerous. Shower had mold in it. On booking was given option smoking /non smoking. But on arrival was told the hotel was a Non smoking hotel.

Review 85:The only problem was that at stay of period it was little bit under the construction, there wasn't elevator and our room was in 6 th floor, so it wasn't very comfortable to move with luggages and than each day after all day walking and sightseeing in the city to climb those 110 stairs. But metro was not far, the location is easily accesable and from Paris center its only 7,5 km.

Review 86:Cosy, clean, silent room.

Review 87:The free Wifi didn't work and it will be much better when the refurbishment is complete and there is a lift.

Review 88:The room had been newly decorated and I did not expect an en-suite so was pleased to see my room had one. Very clean and friendly staff. the breakfast was fine. As a solo female traveller it felt safe.

Review 89:This is a true rathole !!! The staff is somewhat kind, but the conditions are awfull...the hotel is "redecorating"...which means the stairs (no elevator, 6 floors to climb by foot) are weak, ready to fall any moment, the doors are not fit to close, the electrics are 500 years old and each time malfunctions you need to run the stairs (the staff are very cool, not very bothered by your many troubles...they are accustomed with clients complaining...), the internet doesn't work, even in the hall is very very slow...next time I'll bring my tent and have more confort!

Review 90:i vey much loved the day i left this rathole

Review 91:no elevator, so you will have problems if you will live in 6th floor. Also voice isolation bad. Maids cleans rooms to early. Missed chain on the door "do not disturb" or something similar.

Review 92:Good location, clean room, comfortable bed, good service.

Review 93:The worst hotel i've stayed in in my life!!! The shower is shered for atleast two floors!!!! Wc shared for at least one floor rooms!!! I had toleave to the airport at 5:00am and couldn't use shower as it opens onlyat 6:30am. Staff didn't open it earlier. As i've told the worst hoteli've ever seen in my life!!!

Review 94:WiFi was very very slow. Was impossible even to use email there wereproblems with water the carpet in the room was dirty

Review 95:The hotel staff was very cool and friendly! Great location near Metroand supermarket

Review 96:- Smell of the cigarettes- small room - toilets are located at the hall not in the rooms as it is described on the website (there is only sink in the room) - lack of the teapot in the room - repairs at the hotel - ugly smell in the toiltet

Review 97:- Good location- nice stuff

Review 98:It was cheap and it was available. Amenities acceptable for the price, but think of it more as a hostel than hotel. At least until the renovations are done, after that it may be better.

Review 99:Steps (stairs) while climbing the 4th floor was a bad experience. This Hotel must be modernized with lift facility. I don't like the way it is now. Legs are paining so much.

Review 100:1 out of 3 hotel staff we interacted with was actually nice andhelpfull. The gentleman working nights was rude, unfrendly andunprofessional. The hotel has no elevator (lift) but a very steap tight-turned staircase. Loud rooms next to the street. No ac in rooms. Noscreens on windown so bring your mesquito spray. Clichy is outside ofParis (about 25min train from center), mixed nationality area, beprepared to travel with subway.

Review 101:Modern room, clean, comfortable.

Review 102:Under construction during my stay. Only one shower for four floors of people. Had to shower with the door open because there was no shower light. Front desk spoke only enough English to get me checked in and out. Far from city center

Review 103:Extremely cheap and free internet

Review 104:Nothing is good~! Hot like Hell..no air-cond !! No light in sharebathroom, terrible noisy at night, feel like staying in refugee camp~!Not a hotel even Hostel at all.

Review 105:I am leaving...~!

Review 106:The Hotel is undergoing refurbishment at the moment so the hallways and stairs are in a mess. I think they should tell people of this before they book. It is a very noisey hotel. We were in room number 8, very small and next to the shared bathroom which was very noisey. The room wasn't overly clean, cigarette burn in curtains grubby shower curtain. There were no Tea/coffee facilities in room. Just a bed and a tv.

Review 107:The reception area was quite nice

Review 108:Instead of the triple room, we got a double room with extra bed. I hadto pay the room in advance as a full triple bad room. After paying in advance, before entering the room, in cash, I had no opportunity to appeal.

Review 109:The hotel staff was extremely friendly. I would particularly highlightthe reception courtesy of Mrs. Tamara, who speaks besides English andRussian. Manager of the hotel can be proud of her. It is the reason whyI did not angry about poor accommodation facilities - lack of a normalbed. For me, the room is missing a small refrigerator, normal bed andmosquito net.We were the first users rooms after renovation. The bathroom is very nice and functional. The corridors are still in the reconstruction.

Review 110:Renovations were still taking place. No lift. No fridge in room. Couldget very hot in room and only way of ventilation was opening the window(summer time).

Review 111:Room was modern. Shower and linen were great. Staff spoke English andwere helpful and friendly. Bathroom was well Equipped. Great foodPlaces nearby.

Review 112:It is beeing renovated at the moment so the corridors are work-in-progress. Walls are not very sound proof - good that I had pretty calm neighbours.

Review 113:I lived in a room that was probably just renovated so everything was new. It was very clean too. Comfortable bed. Staff at the reception is helpful and nice.

Review 114:It was under construction, a little over priced for location and beingunder construction. Carpet was passed its best and bed sheets had stainson, it was red nail varnish but looked like something worse. Very smallroom but typical Parisian hotel which was good value and providedeverything you need. I would recommend the hotel but only if youunderstand the metro as unless you have a fortune to spend on taxis youwill be stuck.

Review 115:Pleasant staff, lovely maid, very helpful reception staff. TypicalParisian, quaint hotel.

Review 116:Everything. The staff were rude, and the hotel was under maintenance and we were not previously informed of this. Dirty sheets and curtains in our room. Could hear everything from our neighbours rooms.

Review 117:Opening hours of shared showers are only to 23:30. It is located on one way street which is full of cars at rush hours and also i can't say it was quiet at night. We had room on 6th top floor, which is fine but there isn't elevator.

Review 118:Personal in hotel speak English except cleaning ladies which was great. Neighborhood was nice with kind people. Its close to center. 5 minutes by foot is located Metro and RER station.

Review 119:Unfortunately, a lot of things, because the hotel was under construction and it was very uncomfortable. Also It is not very good for rooms with shared bath the showers are on the first floor which means a great inconvenience to the customer on the second floor. On the second floor was impossible to get a good wifi connection.

Review 120:The hotel is in a good localitation and it has a good communication with the center of city by underground. Also I liked the staff´s service. All of them very polite and very helpful.

Review 121:very small rooms, very narrow the access hallway to room. dirty doors, half of the hotel in renovation without announcement. very expensive for what it offers.

Review 122:Nothing at all

Review 123:It would be better to change weary holed blankets.

Review 124:Good budget place to stay according to Paris standards. Close to metro, clean, really lavish breakfast, friendly reception.Sure it is not for people who consider full comfort (elevator and so on) mandatory.

Review 125:garbage...you can't name that a hotel it's a stable...a nightmare,,,,mess everywhere...dirty bed sheets ....i dont know how they have authorisation to keep that ruin open,,,,all the pictures from the hotel are fake...it's bad

Review 126:location

Review 127:Thank you so much!

Review 128:Very bad wifi

Review 129:Modern room, confortable and clean. Bathroom well equiped.

Review 130:No lift. Toilets and bathrooms on different levels.Smelling odour from wash hand basin which are located in rooms.Poor breakfast

Review 131:The loilet

Review 132:The room and the bed sheets were dirty.

Review 133:There was no duvet on the bed, was very cold:/

Review 134:Location was great, and the staff was kind.

Review 135:There were more things broke than working. Not a good experience. There are better places to stay for the price if you look around.

The Fine Print

Please note that an iron, bottle warmer, a baby bed, a changing table and a high chair are available on request at reception.
