Reviews for Chambre D'hôtes Les Epicuriens

Review 1:The in-room dinner was outstanding - if you have an opportunity to do this, do not pass it up. The location was excellent for walking and driving explorations of Epernay.

Review 2:Everything about our stay was fabulous. Our host was very gracious and went out of her way to ensure we had a great visit to Epernay. The room was spotless, spacious, and modern.

Review 3:Spacious sleeping area with included a lovely sitting room with sofa, chair, TV and back patio. Our hostess loves to cook. She prepared a delicious full course evening meal, served in our sitting room and beautiful breakfast the following morning. Lovely, restored family home, great location to everything.

Review 4:Laure was very pleasant and helpful. She gave us good advice for touring in the area, and for exploring Epernay. Her English is very good, and she is an excellent chef. Be sure to accept her suggestion that she prepare a dinner for you.

Review 5:Nothing to report

Review 6:Right in the heart of Epinay this outstanding place is high quality. The host is effervescent, engaging and incredibly accommodating. If you are first in you are offered a 3 course dinner, personally cooked. There's only two spacious rooms. Separate and private lounge but shower/toilet is incorporated.

Review 7:We did tell our host that the pipes rattle in the night, so didn't get good sleep. We would prefer to eat our breakfast at a table rather than on our knees. The wine tour she did for us, we thought did not represent value for money. She gave a great talk on the production of wine, but it was given in a small cellar room, with a few trolleys of champagne. We did not really see any of the production of wine, as we have done at all other champagne houses we visited. Fresh milk, rather than long life, always goes down well. This is constructive advice.

Review 8:Our host was very pleasant. Very large accommodation.

Review 9:We liked everything

Review 10:Laure, the owner, was great. She is a great cook, a great guide and a great host in general. The facilities were very good. The best wifi on our trip.

Review 11:Nothing

Review 12:There are two units here on the ground floor of a three story classic house. The owner has done a magnificent job of remodeling the accommodations for a luxurious stay. We stayed in the horse-themed unit. It has a large sitting room, a large bedroom, and an American contemporary bathroom. Huge wonderful shower. With double glazed windows and electric roll shutters it is totally quiet. The WiFi is speedy and dependable. The owner delivers breakfast to the room. In some respects (breakfast, friendly attention and guidance by the owner) this is like a B&B. But it is also like a hotel with the privacy offered. The bed is very comfortable. Location is perfect with easy walking access to central Epernay. The cost-for-value is unmatchable.

Review 13:Nothing negative.

Review 14:The hostess Laure was fantastic with lots of little extra touches. The food was great and it was only 5 minutes walk into Epernay. The room was comfortable and had a sofa in an attached sitting room.

Review 15:Lovely rooms, good position, great breakfast and very helpful host. Home made biscuits and a glass of champagne on arrival. Very professional and classy.

Review 16:We had the smaller of the two suites and wish we had been able to book the larger one. Our one was painted the most hideous shades of green. The toilet, shower and sinks are forced into what used to be simply a front parlor. The back patio is dominated but the most garish of murals. I dont know what what the previous reviewers are used to but I am bewildered how they can give such high marks.

Review 17:The host is personable. The house is an interesting example of converted 19th century townhouse. Great location.

Review 18:Need a map to find but close to the centre and the main avenue.

Review 19:Super friendly host and the horse room is beautiful with everything you'd need. Highly recommended.

Review 20:It was very very hot during our stay, maybe a fan would have been helpful, but not a massive issue.

Review 21:Location is excellent for visiting champagne houses, easily walkable. Owner so helpful with local knowledge. Quality of accommodation will not disappoint.

Review 22:Champagne on arrival, excellent breakfast each day and great location. Incredibly accommodating staff and a beautiful room. Easy on street parking. Highly recommend.

Review 23:None!

Review 24:A well appointed comfortable suite. Convenient, parking on road outside. Our lovely host cooked a superb meal for the evening which we ate on the terrace along with some excellent champagne. Our host was very helpful with local knowledge. Just need to find a small excuse to return!

Review 25:I would have preferred a bigger toilet and perhaps an ensuite more separate to the room, but this did not detract from the spaciousness and comfort of the suite.

Review 26:Good welcome with lovely glass of champagne. Ability to have meals outside on patio direct from our own lounge. Had dinner cooked by Laure - excellent. Fantastic location just minutes from champagne houses, bars and restaurants. Free parking on road outside house a great bonus.

Review 27:Parking is on street, you need to be lucky or drive round the block a few times to get a space WiFi not operational during our visit

Review 28:Warmth of the hostess, nothing was too much trouble. Contacted local restaurant and booked table for us Arranged champagne tasting with local small producer Walking distance into centre

Review 29:No parking, but spots are easy to find. The bed could've been a bit more comfortable.

Review 30:The owner was so kind and helpful. The rooms were adorable and comfortable. The outside area was lovely. The breakfast was delicious. The location was perfect for exploring the area.

Review 31:The weather was unseasonably hot. Since this is so unusual, no one is prepared for the high temperatures. It was difficult to get comfortable with no AC or a fan. I believe this is very rare.

Review 32:Large, Very well furnished rooms with a beautiful, newly built bathroom. Very modern. The Horsesuite is more like an apartment, with a sitting room, bedroom, and nice bathroom. We were greeted by the proprietors very warmly and offered champaign and appetizers immediately. They could not be more hospitable. Breakfast was very promptly served on the patio. It was prepared to our order and very nice.

Review 33:The room could be better lit, and hot water ran out after midnight. Everything else though was great.

Review 34:Room was extremely cozy and clean, bathroom facilities were modern and new, linen was spotless. We were also greeted with pastries and champagne and breakfast was also served punctually and in large portions!

Review 35:Dining options in Epernay are very limited so it may pay to book ahead.

Review 36:We stayed in the Horse room which was spacious and comfortable with separate living room and bathroom. Good central location for Epernay and the surrounding Champagne region. The host was very friendly and welcoming, and helpful with local advice.

Review 37:No designated parking but this is due to central location. Nearby car park for about 12 Euro per night

Review 38:Big room, nice facilities, excellent food. Cheap at current exchange rate for the quality of room.

Review 39:The bed was a little firmer than we are used to but it wouldn't stop us staying again.

Review 40:We stayed 2 nights in mid May. Our hostess, Laure was fantastic and made us very welcome. We had champage and nibbles while she booked a restaurant for our dinner. Our suite was very spacious and comfortable, with a seperate lounge, bedroom & bathrooms. Breakfast was also excellent and substancial. Laure also has great local knowledge and gave us excellent advise on cave tours and sightseeing.

Review 41:The bed was a bit hard - a mattress topper would help - but it is a very small comment in the context of an excellent stay.

Review 42:Laure looked after us royally. Champagne and nibbles when we arrived; restaurant booked for us to make sure we got in; a heavenly breakfast and good advice on which caves to visit. Highly recommended.

Review 43:Laure was a wonderful hostess. Breakfast was the best we had in France, enjoyed in our sitting room. Laure did so much more to make our visit perfect, finding us the best champagne and sending her knowledgeable husband to market with us to help us select cheese. Would definitely return.

Review 44:Wouldn't call it a bad experience but like many of the beds in France, it was very firm and we both had a little trouble the next day. Otherwise, our stay was outstanding!

Review 45:Laure was fantastic, the location was great, we managed to find parking right outside the B&B, we opted for the dinner which was lovely, and the champagne tour the next morning which was very enjoyable and informative. Thank you Laure!

Review 46:Nothing!

Review 47:Very welcoming hosts and delicious home cooked french cuisine which we enjoyed in the comfort of our clean and comfortable room. Very well positioned - only a short walk to the Avenue De Champagne.

Review 48:Perhaps we were so tired and ended up sleeping too long, but for a mature couple the bed was a bit too hard.

Review 49:We were so tired and much appreciated how quiet and peaceful it was. The food was perfect! Our hostess was amazing and not just a great cook...I would say chef. Her family were also wonderful. Thank you all, hopefully we come again and for a longer stay.

Review 50:Nothing... Everything was perfect...

Review 51:Everything... Wonderful host who takes extra care of her customers and makes them feel at home and part of the family. Enjoyed a great home-cooked meal and a very informative tour on champagne making followed by tasting. Highly recommended and will be back again, this time longer.

Review 52:I personally found the mattress in our room to be a bit too firm. We only stayed one evening, so we did not feel it necessary to discuss it with Laure. I have no doubt that had we of mentioned it, Laure would have had a solution to our problem.

Review 53:Laure was a fabulous host, and very accommodating. Asked for an earlier check-in, and it was not a problem. Very nice/clean/large/comfortable room. Complementary glass of champagne and biscuits were a very pleasant surprise. Breakfast in the room was everything you could want. Fresh bread, freshly squeezed orange juice, French Press coffee...I could go on and on. Superb location to wineries. Would definitely stay again, if we find ourselves back in Epernay in the future.

Review 54:Our stay was only one night but we could stay longer as the room was huge with separate sitting and bedroom. It was decorated with interesting things and impeccable. The shower was the best in 6 was of travelling in Europe. Laure the host very kindly offers a glass of champagne to welcome you and does a lovely breakfast. She recommended where to eat and it was spot on.highly recommend this hotel

Review 55:Laure the lady who runs the BnB is a superwoman and so friendly She cooks amazing breakfasts has the best welcome biscuits and a beautiful dinner on the first night ( additional cost but well worth it)cleans the rooms spotlessly and also organised tours and restaurant reservations for us at some wonderful Champagne houses. This is above and beyond any normal BnB.We stayed in the horse room which is actually 3 rooms The bed was so comfortable and separate lounge area also spacious and comfortable and the bathroom well thought out. You could enter a shared courtyard at the back for a drink. Thank you Laure for making our stay in Epernay so memorable.

Review 56:Staying at Les Epicuriens was a real highlight of our trip to France this year. Laure is a wonderful hostess. The meal she prepared on our first night was innovative and delicious. She had great recommendations for how to make the most of our time, and the tour of the Champagne Cave we went on with her was very special. We've travelled extensively in France, but this is one place we are sure to return to again and again!

Review 57:The proprietor is also an extremely talented cook. She made us a lovely dinner one night and the breakfasts were quite nice. She was very helpful and a lovely host. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Review 58:The warm welcome, the amount of room and cleanliness. The breakfast was delicious which was served in our room. Great attention to detail and the glass of champagne offered on arrival was a very nice touch. Excellent location for visiting the champagne houses and suggestions for dinner venues were good.

Review 59:Nothing we could think of!

Review 60:Our 2 nights were at the end of our holiday in France. We loved the stay right from the friendly welcome we received and the Horse Room had all (and more) we needed in the way of space and comfort. Great bathroom. Welcome drink was a lovely touch and our host, Laure was delightful - nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts were perfect. Great location for walking to the Champagne houses.

Review 61:We loved staying at this B&B. Laure is very serviceminded and does everthing she can to help. Breakfast was very good the dinner she cooked for us was superb.

Review 62:Laure is a fantastic host and as bubbly as a bottle of the finest Champagne - her passion, enthusiasm and love of Epernay is infectious as is her love of her wonderful home which we feel privileged to have stayed in. The rooms are wonderfully decorated and large, with comfortable beds a shower, wc, and his-n-hers wash hand basins. A en-suite sitting room with TV, coffee/tea making facilities. We were very impressed with the wonderful personal touches like the glass of champagne when you arrive, accompanied with homemade pastries and homemade biscuits, the soft white towelling robes laid out on the bed and slippers and toiletries just in case you forgot something were a lovely touch. You would do well to accept Laure's local knowledge of where to eat, do tastings and which Champagne House Tours are the best - we did take her advice and were delighted - there is not one thing we would have changed. We don't really want to write a good review because we want to keep this little gem our secret - we look forward to returning to Chambre D'hôtes Les Epicuriens with friends and to meeting Laure again.

Review 63:We didn't book for a longer stay!

Review 64:Mini studio 'Horse' room. Laure was a wonderful host and took us on a personal tour of a small champagne producer, complete with testing! We learnt a lot about wine and how champagne is made. Breakfast was superb and she made us a small platter the night we arrived. Wonderful.

Review 65:Nothing.

Review 66:The Host/Owner was very accomodating and cooked for us on our first night as well as arranging avisit to a boutique Champagne house just outside Epernay that was superb. A five minute stroll into town, fully home cooked breakfasts including jams and pastries made the stay unforgettable.

Review 67:It is like home abroad, Laure is very accommodating, helped us making reservation for dinner, baked us homemade snacks which were delicious, gave recommendations on what to do around the region. The room itself is just wonderful, great deco, comprehensive facilities and utilities. Very very nice. We would like to visit again next time we are around the region.

Review 68:We had the Champagne room and were delighted with it, which includes a small sitting room & access onto the patio, very cool too. We had an aperitif & home made nibbles on the patio before dinner which Laure prepared for us . It was an excellent 4 course meal with a bottle of champagne- wonderful! We were very close to the Avenue de Champagne & other facilities. An ideal place to stay in Epernay.
