Reviews for Comfort Suites Epernay- Les Demeures Champenoises
Review 1:really basic very poor bed linen - very thin duvet, tiny pillows Stale smell in the room Very poor bathroom NO SHOWER HAND SET. HAD TO HOLD SHOWER HEAD IN MY HAND OR SHOWER ON MY KNEES. RIDICULOUS Slow wifi
Review 2:location - super close to work Parking Helpful staff Decent breakfast for price
Review 3:Insufficient hot water for a bath and a shower -had we known we wouldboth have taken a shower. Having said that, the shower was only a handheld shower so not brilliant to use. The room was advertised with akitchenette but there was no crockery etc. so absolutely of no use ifyou had wanted to prepare your own supper.
Review 4:The room was spacious with a large bed and lots of wardrobe space.Spacious bathroom and lovely to have the option of a bath. Great to havea kettle and teas and coffee provided - not often provided in Frenchhotel rooms. There was also a microwave oven.
Review 5:The location is about 2K from the town centre, but an easy stroll (uphill on your return). The studio kitchen had no equipment - no crockery/cutlery/pans/utensils at all despite a fridge, a hob and a microwave.
Review 6:Great budget option - clean basic rooms with comfy bed. Everything we could ask for for a 1 night stay.
Review 7:Small kitchen very useful but would be much improved with a bowl/spoon/cup or 2! Nothing crockery/cutlery/saucepan.
Review 8:Great value for a family, convenient to town.
Review 9:Kitchenette not equipped at all (no pans/crockery/plates/glasses/etc..) and walls quite thin so if your next door residents are having a laugh/chat till past midnight while you're trying to get some sleep, a bit of a let down...
Review 10:Ideal for our stopover to the Alps. Courte paille restaurant and supermarket Leclerc around the corner. Layout of apartment great for family. Did not use the breakfast room but looked nice and rich in variety.
Review 11:Has free WiFi but only seems to work in the main building . Could do with a kettle in the room
Review 12:Good clean room comfortable bed About 20 minutes walk from centre of Epernay
Review 13:It is positioned as suite, but there is nothing in the kitchen. Literally. Even no glasses to drink water. I but don't think it's fair to position premises as a suite when you don't have fully equipped kitchen. Room wasn't cozy at all. Like an office. Felt very empty.
Review 14:Room is spacious and clean, Location is very quiet (though a bit distant from Epernay).
Review 15:Sterile almost hospital like environment of communal areas; kitchenette in rooms but no utensils, crockery or cutlery to be able to use the facility; no milk for the tea/coffee that was provided; disposable mugs and cups cheapened the experience; one iron that was collected from reception but no ironing board - told to iron on the table! Felt like it had been something else turned into a hotel and not quite finished!
Review 16:Breakfast was okay, bed was comfy.
Review 17:The room was clean, but something in the room set off my allergies (dust in the curtain? previous guests with a pet?). The loft is very squeaky and you can hear guests in the next room (not too much but I'd imagine if you had some boisterous ones it could be.)
Review 18:It's an easy walk to town and you're up on a hillside with lovely views. The duplex rooms are big. The staff are very accommodating and opened up the office to check us in even though it was outside of office hours and then rushed the cleaning of our room so we could get in quickly.
Review 19:Very far out of town.
Review 20:I booked the duplex room which was unusual. Lovely views over the country side after the industrial estste. Nice powerful shower.
Review 21:Only one minor issue - although the Wi Fi is free, we could not connect. It is a fair distance to the town centre.
Review 22:Excellent value for money if you are on a tight budget. We were pleased with the standard, no frills. Parking was free.
Review 23:Hotel was difficult to locate in a down town area. Newly converted hotel in old fire brigade building that looks good from the outside. Bedrooms are of poor design with large bathrooms and small bedrooms. The existing old tatty fittings were used and doors had holes in them. The building lacks sound proofing and is noisy.
Review 24:When we were there the Wifi was not working. But, this is France, and the standard is lower than in the US for example (soap, towels...).
Review 25:Nice rooms and fairly large. Location in town is good if you have a car.
Review 26:Slightly outside the centre of the town although we had a car and so not a problem for us but without a car it would have been a little difficult
Review 27:Room was a very good size, staff were pleasant and it was good value for money
Review 28:Mezzanine was much warmer than lower level so difficult to get temperature right. Wifi useless - couldn't get it in room or main lobby!
Review 29:Excellent little apartment where we cooked both dinner & breakfast. They had useful kitchen kit for 3 euros. Lidl supermarket in 5 mins walk
Review 30:Coffee was awfull, all kinds of it! Sofa was broken.
Review 31:Bed, clean sheets. The requested childbeds( twins age 2years) were there and clean. Breakfast was nice and we had fresh products.
Review 32:Kitchenette has absolutely no utensils. While you can hire a kitchen pack from reception, it would be nice to have a few basics.
Review 33:Clean and tidy suites which were perfect for staying as a group of friends. Perfect as a base for Champagne and great to have easy car parking with just a 25 minute walk into the city.
Review 34:We stayed in a triple bed room (king bed & fold out bed) which had plenty of room for us, we also had kitchen facilities but we had to hire all of the kitchen plates, glasses knifes and forks pots and pans! :( very helpful staff :)
Review 35:Nothing!
Review 36:For the money, these suites are superb value for money. clean, spacious with all the facilities you need and ideally situated to visit the Champagne region!
Review 37:Breakfast consisted primarily of industrial food. Don't expect croissants from a bakery. The furniture and facilities were not in the best condition.
Review 38:Hotel is very 'functional'. It has the basic necessities one would need for a one night stay. Hotel lies close to Epernay.
Review 39:A little bit further out of Epernay than I had imagined. Add 2 x €10 taxi rides to your budget if you want to go to Epernay for dinner with a few drinks.
Review 40:Apartment was spacious and modern. Great place if you plan to self cater.
Review 41:GPS co-ordinates a little misleading and we had trouble locating the venue. When we did find it, we had trouble finding the actual entrance - it is a huge complex! I found the Receptionist a little cool and unwelcoming [unusual in France]. Wasn't easy to find any nearby Restaurants for evening meal - There was a leaflet in the suite advertising a pizza cafe nearby but beware of the printed opening times - it was closed when we arrived early evening!! We eventually found a MacDonalds!
Review 42:There was a lift and the room was comfortable .It was good to have self-catering facility and even little mini milk cartons in the main reception area downstairs [so lovely to be able to make a cup of tea - with milk {!} on your first stopover whilst travelling through France! Breakfast next morning was self-service and very substantial - sets you up for your onward journey!
Review 43:Not walking distance to main town. We had bikes and cycled in easily so it wasn't a problem but you will either need to drive or get a taxi at night for dinner.
Review 44:Lovely location overlooking vineyards.
Review 45:Nothing to dislike so long as you are not expecting too much
Review 46:Good location for exploring the local area. Duplex accommodation is great. It has a 'hostel' feel about it but if you get over that it is just fine
Review 47:Wifi only at reception. No one at hotel reception if a late arrival. you must call before hand and get an entrance code.
Review 48:value for money, location, clean rooms, good breakfast choice
Review 49:As an older person found it hard to get in and out of the bath/shower. The floor area where you purchased drinks was always sticky and dirty.
Review 50:Comfortable bed. Free parking right outside of the hotel. We had a hire car so it was very easy to get into the town. We made Epernay our base to visit Reims and the Champagne region.
Review 51:Self catering facilities - no dishes or cutlery that we could see!
Review 52:Despite such a low price, the accommodation was excellent. Close proximity to Epernay, character building and great facilities. Fridge was a bonus for keeping our cheese fresh for the journey home northwards
Review 53:What an absolutely dreadful place. Stayed for 10 minutes, in which time I saw two electrical issues and the last occupants waste in the bin so headed straight to a proper hotel in the centre.
Review 54:Nothing.
Review 55:Everything from the minute we arrived in the depressing block of dull buildings to when we tried to check in and had to wait 45mins in the heat with two small children? The rooms were so basic and the curtains were ripped and there was no aircom or fan! Champagne is a small village and to say this is centrally situated is a joke, situated to what?
Review 56:Wifi did not work at all. Could not book. Until after 3pm, & staff were not helpful in that they were not keen to store our luggage, so it stayed in our car.
Review 57:There was no milk or creamer for the tea and coffee in the room. The bath had no shower head holder so you had to kneel in the bath for a shower or hold the shower over your head. The bar closes very early. 9pm.
Review 58:The location was pleasant. The staff helpful and friendly.
Review 59:Confined and has a not that attractive lobby area. Reception hours quite are short for such a large hotel.
Review 60:Extremely quiet, with metre thick walls, as hotel used to be an old military barrack. Our room had a strange layout, probably due to the conversion. Great breakfast and good beds.
Review 61:WiFi did not work for any of our devices anywhere in the hotel. Hotel is not within walking distance of the city center.
Review 62:This is a basic hotel. Breakfast was good. Bed was comfy.
Review 63:We have laptop, ipad, iphone...all kinds of devices. non of them can connect to the wifi. The staff said we need to go to the lobby to use it, which is not true! Even you are there, you still have no way to connect to the wifi. The staff did nothing to fix the problem.
Review 64:free parking
Review 65:The public areas of the hotel (including the breakfast room) had a strange musty smell about them, although our room itself was fine. The other pet peeve was the rubbish plastic cups you get for making hot drinks. Paying €120 for the night, I expect crockery in the room. The other minor niggle was that the shower head wasn't hung the wall so you had to shower while holding the head.
Review 66:Friendly and helpful staff although only one person on the desk spoke English. But she was very helpful. The Lipton Ice Tea refrigerator in the lobby rammed full of Champagne was also a nice touch! The other plus points are that the room was a good size and the beds very comfortable.
Review 67:Outside of the entrance, there wasnt any wifi. Your not told, but you can pick up a box of cutlery and crockery. Or you can just use the dollhouse stuff in the room.
Review 68:The room was great as was the scenery and location.
Review 69:Expensive for the quality. Bathroom quite old and shabby. Even if you book a room with a kitchen, you need to request a box of kitchen supplies for your room. This doesn't include any cleaning/washing up products but you're expected to ensure all the dishes and kitchen areas are clean. I would prefer next time to pay more for somewhere a bit more luxe and less complicated.
Review 70:Comfortable bed, good wifi (once the friendly staff reset the router for us). Nice and spacious duplex apartment.
Review 71:Wifi was not optimal and cushion on bed was way to small!
Review 72:Enough parking spaces, nice staff and easy access. Nice to have a smal kitchenette and fridge!
Review 73:Need to drive back into centre (too far with little ones) but parking easily available
Review 74:Quirky, good value. Well lit parking. Plenty of space for kids. Good breakfast
Review 75:First and second room we got smelled like smoke of sigarettes (and you have to sleep in that!!!). If you think that you have a kitchen and can have breakfast, NO WAY, no plates, no glasses, no silverware. Carpets of floors letting loose, bathroom falling apart.
Review 76:No laundry facilities on site - for a self catering apartment. So called free wifi which was impossible to access unless you were in the lobby, and even then we only got on twice. Cart your own kitchen box to the apartment, on.y to find it was full of unwashed dishes, so back to reception for another one. Staff were pleasant, but it became obvious it was all about saving money and not the clients needs. Disappointing.
Review 77:The spacious apartment
Review 78:The kitchenette could have had some cutlery and crockery. Fortunately as we were traveling back from a self catering holiday we had our own. If you are expecting to use the kitchenette to cook a proper meal it may be difficult.
Review 79:The room was cleaned daily and everywhere was clean and newly decorated. We were able to make our own breakfast in our room which was ideal with our dog. The building is on the outskirts of Epernay with a large car park. It takes about 20 minutes to walk into town. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we made use of the free WiFi.
Review 80:They need a system to leave keys if yiu arrive after 9 pm . A simple lock box would do . We arrived at 10 pm and luckily someone was there to let us in but could have been an unnecessary disaster which with yiu g kids would not be good ..
Review 81:Great hotel for money . Good location . Nice clean rooms . Centre of Epernay ..
Review 82:Wifi coverage is only for downstairs. No bar or restaurant within walking distance. The bar within the hotel is very basic.
Review 83:Helpful staff, large rooms. Very quiet.
Review 84:Kitchen was not fully equipped as advertised. Kitchen equipment provided by request was worse than basic. Staff not very helpful. Room stunk of smoke, not great if you are travelling with kids or are non-smoker. Water provided is very limited. Awful place, too expensive for what it is, I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Avoid!!!!
Review 85:Nothing
Review 86:There was a small kitchenette but no utensils/plates/pots/pans of any description. I had to borrow a fork and spoon from the staff to eat my dinner. No WiFi at all - when I asked the morning staff about it, she just shrugged and walked away. I probably would not stay here again.
Review 87:Check in male staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and a good size. Bed was very comfortable and we slept well.
Review 88:In spite of providing a kitchenette, NO items that are part of a kitchen were provided. No pots, crockery, cutlery, utensils, glassware, kettle, tea towels, cleaning equipment (sponge, detergent). The cupboards were completely bare. Not even anything you'd expect in a hotel room - like a kettle and some cups. When I asked at reception, we were told we could have a box of items (with a deposit) if we asked for them. Why didn't the receptionist mention this when we checked in?This included the bare basics, but nothing that enabled you to make any sort of meal. AND... Then told we were obligated to clean the kitchen and to do this we could go out and buy cleaning stuff at a nearby supermarket. After travelling for 5 weeks through France in a variety of self catering places this was a first. I don't think this property knows what it is. If you're a hotel, at least provide a mini bar, coffee and tea making facilities. Don't provide a cooktop, fridge and drink and NOTHING else if you want to be an apartment. Oh, and don't expect spare blankets or pillows, because they're absent too. Seriously, don't be fooled...
Review 89:View of the vineyards, car parking, look of the exterior.
Review 90:No service at the hotel. The reception desk is only open for limited times during the morning and night. Hotel needs to be updated. The shower head has to be held which makes it difficult to take a shower.
Review 91:the price was good. It was quite. The suites are large. There is a separate bedroom area and then a kitchen area and living room combined. I assume the sofa pulls out into a bed. So it's good for large families.
Review 92:Converted army barracks and still a bit the same way Very poor and very basic furnishings Kitchen but zero cutlery or pots and pans or plates
Review 93:Plenty of space and free parking and very friendly and knowledgeable front desk staff A small but pleasant bath tub in all rools.
Review 94:Some of the decor in the bathroom was well worn but it is a budget hotel. The kitchen had no implements but we had no plans to cook. I guess we could have asked for some. We didn't look into it but before going if you plan to use the little kitchen check this out.
Review 95:The location was great for the price, you can easily walk into town and back. Great for the dog as lots of walks near by. Great parking too which is what we wanted. It was exactly what we were looking for, a budget hotel with all the things we needed. The guy at reception knew a lot about the hotels long history, very interesting, could have listened to him for hours. Great guy to have on reception!
Review 96:No shower! No kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery, or glasses (why have a kitchen?). Soulless hotel in a soulless town.
Review 97:Good bed. Spacious, clean enough.
Review 98:The wifi was (once again) not operational. The bed in the intial room (2nd building) looked/felt more like a temporary solution.
Review 99:Stayed for the second time because of its location to visit the area. Breakfast choices are OK and of good quality. The personnel is friendly.
Review 100:'Self catering apartment' booked - arrived and not a single item of crockery, cutlery, pans etc - absolutely ridiculous. Furniture like a run down student apartment - very disappointed
Review 101:My only gripe would be that although our family apartment had a kitchen with fridge and hob there was no other equipment (e.g. crockery, cutlery etc), this may be quite normal.
Review 102:Very helpful, friendly & patient staff. Easy parking right outside the hotel. Great views of the surrounding countryside. Comprehensive selection of drinks and food to purchase from the hotel foyer. Staff were even able to recommend a pizza delivery firm that delivered to our room, useful as one of our party was not able to walk.
Review 103:Lack of clarity of information on arrival - to use the kitchenette facilities it was necessary to pay a deposit and take the equipment to the apartment. this was not explained initially, so we were somewhat confused about the empty kitchen!
Review 104:Duplex style apartment with mezzanine bedroom. Quiet out-of-town location.
Review 105:Not great views and location was in the middle of housing/industrial area.
Review 106:Works for an overnight stay, would not want to stay longer. Room comfortable, but basic. Staff Helpful and gave eating recommendations etc.
Review 107:The kitchen is not equipped if you stay less than 10 days. Of course no-one travels with pans and cutlery, so you could say you pay for a kitchen you cannot use. I insisted and managed to obtain 2 plates, 2 forks and knives, 1 pot and 2 cups for a 50€ deposit. Problems with the WiFi.
Review 108:Helpful staff. Big parking lot, Lidl nearby. Location: very far form the town center, you will need a car.
Review 109:The quality of the furnishings is cheap, the double bed is very small, the location makes it hard to walk into the centre of Epernay.
Review 110:The breakfast is very good. The place is clean. Having the extra space of a studio apartment was nice. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The other guests were quiet. There seemed to be a huge number of Belgians.
Review 111:The hotel was a little far out of town. Despite the rooms having kitchens they were not stocked with pans, plates, cuttley, cups etc which was rather useless. The rooms had lovely large windows but extremely dangerous for children as there were no safety locks.
Review 112:It was clean and the staff were extremely helpful and polite. They were happy to tell us were to go and what to do. The rooms were spacious and pleasant.
Review 113:There is no kitchen equipment at all. If you have been camping make sure The kitchen equipment is accessible. Fairly expensive but that is probably the region.
Review 114:Very clean good sized rooms for a traveling break. This is more of an apartment than a hotel room. I found the staff very helpful, showed me the room before I booked in so I knew what I was getting. They also gave some recommendations for dinner locally.
Review 115:99 euros for family of 4 booked the day before in August - can't complain. Yes it is a bit tired and basic but for that price you cannot expect more.
Review 116:Breaksfast isn't worth 10 euros and they tried to lock us out of the breakfast room before the 10 am deadline. Go to a cafe instead.
Review 117:Nice view of the vinyards
Review 118:A bit basic no air con in rooms very poor wifi considering it is one of their advertising features All signs say Comfort Inn, Les DemeuresChampenoises is not written anywhere so making it hard to find
Review 119:Great tourist info from staff Good breakfast Quiet location Very clean Original old 19th century buildings
Review 120:The hotel name has changed to Comfort suites so the GPS didn't find it easily. The wifi didn't work well at all so it was a real problem.
Review 121:The hotel has plenty of parking and the rooms are spacious. Pay for breakfast as it's a good spread.
Review 122:It looks good on the outside, but when you get in its another story. Not really a hotel. Somewhere to sleep! It is an apartment hotel, but there was 1 cup, 2 forks, 1 bowl in a 4 person room! The management need to go to Ikea. We turned up and were told there was no booking, however I had a confirmation from Booking.com He puffed and moaned and found me a room, however then found the original booking. Would I recommend this hotel? Definitely no. It is the only hotel/apartment that whilst travelling for 1 year in Europe with my family that I would not recommend.
Review 123:The location was good.
Review 124:Great room size with functional kitchenette facilities and storage.
Review 125:Excellent Value. Large rooms with decent facilities
Review 126:It's not very close to the city center
Review 127:The price is very affordable
Review 128:Breakfast in an other building. Room far to be clean !! No Wifi !
Review 129:Comfortable bed
Review 130:Internet was very poor. No reception at all in the room. This is important when you are abroad and travelling.
Review 131:Rooms were good size
Review 132:some walls damaged - needing repair!!
Review 133:Name "Comfort Hotel" does not match with experience
Review 134:Wifi didn't work but it usually does without a problem. We stay about 4 times a year.
Review 135:Bed very small - do not believe the photos. Who has an over bath hand shower these days !!
Review 136:Very quiet at night
