Reviews for Citotel Hotel Le Montreal

Review 1:Advertised Wifi but non available. I sent a message about arriving with two dogs and it was ignored and we were therefore on the second floor.

Review 2:Comfortable and clean

Review 3:The address shows on Booking.com is different from the actual address. So we spent a lot of time to arrive there. The English communication is not ok. So it's even be more difficult. The wifi is not accessible with the wifi password.

Review 4:Loved the wooden rooms and the staff was very helpful as i was on the road all day, they made sure to keep me a good room and the keys and code of the entry door where are provided to me by phone

Review 5:Weather very hot, no airconditioning.

Review 6:Nice size room, shuttered window so could have the window open during the night. Great location for exploring the Route de Grand Cru.

Review 7:An oasis in a rather drab industrial park, right next to an F1 "hotel". Charmingly made to look like an alpine ski chalet. Breakfast was neatly laid out and was above average for a continental style. Staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming

Review 8:WiFi didn't work. Bathroom was substandard. Needs a lot of TLC to bring the facility up to a better standard.

Review 9:Bed was comfortable and it was clean.

Review 10:Friendly and helpful reception, great personal service. Comfortable and quiet, convenient location next to a restaurant and a lovely breakfast in the morning.

Review 11:Distance to city centre required to go with our car.

Review 12:Easy to the hotel. Very helpful staff. Safe, excellent parking. Good room and good breakfast. Very good wifi.

Review 13:No problems or suggestions to make

Review 14:Very comfortable rest-over en route from South of France to the Channel. Easy to find from the motorway and to re-join. Peaceful and relaxing and a bit more than the usual.

Review 15:Arrived on a Sunday evening and most of the town and restaurants were closed. At least there was a restaurant next door otherwise we would have been pretty hungry!

Review 16:Location, easy to find and staff.

Review 17:The hotel was decorated in quite a cool and unique way. The staff were warm and friendly. We loved the breakfast. Close to main highway, easy to navigate from.

Review 18:Nothing

Review 19:Comfortable bed. Excellent continental breakfast. Secure parking. Adele is an excellent front of office receptionist who goes out of her way to inform and assist.

Review 20:Ultra cramped in bathroom. Entrance to shower tray "blocked" by the WC pan. Some will find the mattresses uncomfortable. Extractor in windowless toilet is small and not powered by any motorised system. I complained to reception at the start, only to get a blank look and dismissive response saying that all the rooms were like that, and there had never been any extraction fans ever since the hotel was built. She didn't see it as a problem. I could never choose to stay in this hotel again for this reason alone. Fairly good breakfast was marred by items running out and not being replaced for long periods of time.

Review 21:Woody wall panelling. Provision of portable fan. Fairly good breakfast.

Review 22:Bathroom a tad small for tall&large people

Review 23:Hotel's "decor" is great! Fast WiFi Extremely friendly staff. Nice breakfast! Good quality pillows&duvet!

Review 24:The location, as it doesn't have a number our sat nav couldn't find it, as you have to drive through the f1 hotel car park. Thank you to the staff member who directed us to the hotel when I telephoned for help.

Review 25:Nice breakfast, the room was nice and clean and tea and coffee facilities in the room was a bonus, well done.

Review 26:Bit close to the rather shabby FI hotel which is right next door. No hairdryer in the room.

Review 27:convenient overnight stop if travelling from/to Calais from Provence.

Review 28:A very minor point, no hair dryer in room.

Review 29:Beautiful log cabin décor in lobby & rooms. Excellent buffet breakfast. Very friendly & helpful staff. Poivre Rouge restaurant next door, quite good, and therefore no need to drive into town.

Review 30:The beds were very loud (even for just one occupant) and it was very far from the city Centre or any local restaurants (only chains Nearby)

Review 31:The hotel was clean enough and the staff was very friendly and helpful

Review 32:Little to dislike about this homely place. I would say it boxed over its weight as a two-star hotel but then i'm sure some would find something to complain about.

Review 33:We stopped over on our way from Kent to Colmar (Alsace) as it was approx half-way and about 3hrs drive from Calais. Hotel was very easy to find, had a large car park and overall it exceeded our expectation. It was surprisingly "homely" and the staff were friendly and helpful. It is rated two-star and the room was not large but it was comfy. No Air-con but an open window quickly cooled the room and we didn't suffer from traffic noise. Breakfast was very adequate and as we only stayed the one night we were on our way sharpish the next day.

Review 34:The unexpected high standard overall, the decor and the very helpful and efficient receptionist/manager. Facilities were good, clean absolutely sufficient

Review 35:had some wifi issues when we got there, but in the morning got it working Garmin gps places this hotel in the wrong place, so punch in actual address and not hotel name.

Review 36:If you are going to champagne its a good location its not fancy, but its great value comfortable clean

Review 37:Internet connection is poor, we only managed to connect to the internet in the lobby. Breakfast selection is unexciting and overpriced for what is on offer.

Review 38:It is near a motorway so a convenient stop-over but wouldn't recommend for a longer visit

Review 39:It was very hot weather and ther was no air conditioning but staff very helpful and gave us a downstairs room which was cooler.

Review 40:As a stop over it was very good. Breakfast was very good.

Review 41:Room a bit small and bathroom basic with no hairdryer. Hotel not very easy to find and no good restaurants nearby. Breakfast not as good as most..

Review 42:Staff extremely good and room very clean.

Review 43:Good breakfast, nice staff

Review 44:Low roof in room, no view.

Review 45:Wifi didn't work. Breakfast only adequate.

Review 46:Bed was comfy enough

Review 47:This hotel has nice décor and an individual character compared with similar establishments.

Review 48:No wifi at all even though there should have been

Review 49:The convenience of the location and the excellent breakfast

Review 50:It was clean and tidy with very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 51:No decent restaurants nearby

Review 52:Very convenient for motorway. Clean, reasonably comfortable and inexpensive.

Review 53:A bit far from centre of town.

Review 54:Good value

Review 55:Friendliness of staff who spoke fluent English.

Review 56:Poor wifi speed, almost unusable.

Review 57:Friendly, homely and easy to find

Review 58:I appreciate the atmosphere with the Deco made of wood

Review 59:Wifi was not working in the room, only on the aisle or lobby... Diificult to find the hotel!

Review 60:bathroom was a wet room where everything will get wet.

Review 61:convenience

Review 62:Quiet, friendly and clean. Ideal for a quick stopover.

Review 63:a reasonable stopover hotel

Review 64:bathrooms a little smaLL

Review 65:nothing really

Review 66:comfort

Review 67:Pleasant breakfast and bar area. Handy also for the restaurant next door. Quiet. Not far off the motorway on way to the south of France.

Review 68:Not perfect

Review 69:Staff - very helpful and friendly

Review 70:small shower room. the parking gate was not working.

Review 71:nice bed

Review 72:Early breakfast not possible

Review 73:Comfortable bed

Review 74:No faults!!

Review 75:Lovely comfy bed and quiet room. Very clean and friendly.

Review 76:Location was rather unpleasant as it seems the hotel was on the edge of an industrial zone.

Review 77:Comfortable bed and good breakfast. Easy to find location.

Review 78:Different experience with Wood theme Small but practical rooms friendly staff

Review 79:Distance from Centre of City Very Small bathroom with difficult entry door and then shower access behind the lavatory - not suited to the larger person.

Review 80:Availability of good secure free car Parking Proximity to 3 different restaurants within easy walking distance. Small good value bar. Breakfast very good value. Clean & well kept.

Review 81:My only criticism was that it a little too far from the centre of Chalons en Champagne to explore the town and its restaurants without driving. However there is a steak bar next door (Poivre Rouge) which provided a good choice of food at reasonable prices.

Review 82:Situated on the edge of town on a retail park it was perfect as a stopover on the way home from Southern France. The hotel is decorated throughout with rough wood planking but the overall effect is not unpleasant if a little quirky. The room was spotlessly clean but a bit small. The bed was comfortable. The typical french breakfast was good with good coffee and plenty of variety of meats, cheese, pastries, bread, jams, fruit etc, all fresh.

Review 83:lowbudget hotel, so real narrow room and tiny bathroom (minimum minimorum), but we did not expect 4 star hotel comfort - only basics. So, OK.

Review 84:just what we needed: a good night sleep (arrival at 10pm and check out at 7am) + a parking spot close to the hotel entrance

Review 85:No lift.

Review 86:The wooden style of the hotel and rooms was interesting. The room was not large but the layout of the shelves and wook services was well designed.

Review 87:In a commercial area used as a long distance stop over point by HGVs etc

Review 88:Clean, on edge of town, near a couple of big chain restaurants so walkable to get evening meal. Good place for quick stopover while travelling.

Review 89:More pillows in room and plug in sink didn't work Breakfast could do with eggs and warm selection other than toast

Review 90:Decor in rooms outstanding very stylish, Staff very friendly and acomadating, Handy location good facilities

Review 91:The room was very small and dark (due to dark wooden decor and a small window). No outdoor space.

Review 92:This was booked as an overnight stop on our journey home. It was just off the motorway and easy to find. Offered value for money.

Review 93:The beds were so comfortable. It was good the car park was illuminated at night with CCTV cameras as we were able to leave luggage and bikes on the car. We appreciated having free Wi Fi

Review 94:Room was small but comfortable and quiet. Staff were quick to provide extras i.e. Continental plug adapter, milk for coffee. Convenient sto over for travel to Alps or South.

Review 95:There was a slight musty smell.

Review 96:Staff were friendly & helpful & spoke very good English. There are areas to take your dog. There is a restaurant next door, petrol station & supermarket. Rooms had tea/coffee making facilities. It is a good hotel for an overnight stay.

Review 97:Bathroom could be a little bigger and warmer.

Review 98:good for an overnight stay. clean, good breakfast. Water heater with tea and coffee in the room which was nice on a cold evening after a long drive. In the industrial zone of the city, next to 3 other budget hotels, I expect this is the best of the three. Feels like a ski lodge with woodden panels everywhere you turn. Restaurant and gas station right next to it. Very good value for money.

Review 99:Friendly, helpful staff. Clean and comfortable facilities at a reasonable price. A good position for an overnight stop to break the journey to/back from the Alps

Review 100:Bathroom was very small but had all that we needed.

Review 101:The staff were really friendly, our dogs were very welcome which is great. Free car parking and a decent restaurant next door (the poivre rouge) where again our dogs were welcome and house wine was reassuringly cheap made for a good overnight stay on the way back to UK from Switzerland

Review 102:It was quick, easy, friendly and quiet. Located on the edge of town, in a small retail park meant we needed to walk to the town centre for a choice of evening meal (there is a grill house next door but that was all). Town centre wasn't far (about 25-30 mins walk) and allowed us to explore the town a little.

Review 103:Nothing at all wrong with the hotel itself. However, readers should note that they will need to drive if they want to visit or dine in central Chalons. Also note that if you have a Garmin sat nav you should give the address by postcode / street rather than finding the hotel itself in Places of Interest as this takes you to a housing estate a little way away!

Review 104:Clean & comfortable with very pleasant, efficient and welcoming member of staff. Excellent value for money and ideal place to stop over between Southern France and Calais. Convenient, reasonably priced grill-restaurant next door.

Review 105:a little tight in the bathroom for long stays.also difficulty to get more ice needed from reception/bar,we were made to feel like an annoyance for asking the second time

Review 106:clean looks nice enough for the price and star given especially the lobby area

Review 107:45 minute walk into town centre, but a taxi ride when its dark as itslocated outside of town via industrial estates.

Review 108:It was exactly as stated. Very clean and comfortable. Typicalbusiness hotel.

Review 109:Being a bit too far out of the town restricted the options for food. Wedecided to try the Poivre Rouge, which proved to be our worst experienceof France - poor service, rude staff, poor food (although the horsd'oevre starter was very good) and a dog roaming about the restaurant! Not the hotel's fault, of course, but if you stay here (which Irecommend you do), avoid the Poivre Rouge next door!

Review 110:The best thing was the receptionist, who was fantastic, very helpful, very welcoming, and with great English (and German, despite having tocater for 50 or so coach passengers, including serving drinks allnight!). The hotel was very comfortable, albeit the rooms were quitesmall. The lack of a bath was a slight disadvantage, but a great showerand tea-making facilities in the room made up for this. Breakfastoffered a good range of options, in a very simple but effective self-service style.

Review 111:The hotel is very close to the Motorway and is a convenient location to stay overnight to break the journey through France. We found the hotel clean and quiet, there is a good grill restaurant across the road which offers a good choice of food and English menu. The room was fairly compact but comfortable enough for one night. Free WiFi is also available.

Review 112:Extremely helpful and obliging staff. Clean and bright just right for anovernight stay. Was a classic French town, great square to eat in. Usedit as a stopover on way to Chamonix and re-booked for on the way home asthought it was a great stopover location and hotel for price.

Review 113:It looks much nicer on the inside than the outside!

Review 114:Clean, character-filled room and hotel with nice communal lounge.Receptionist didn't speak english but was very friendly and we struggledthrough. Has nice american-style family restaurant next door, as well assupermarket just round the corner. We stayed there for one night as astop-over and, for the price, it was excellent.

Review 115:The quality of this hotel was a very pleasant surprise, especially forthe cost of the room. And best of all was the amazing breakfast - by farthe most varied choices and cheapest (7.50e) in all of France.

Review 116:Service was helpful, but barely spoke english. Breakfast was good but few healthy options.

Review 117:The living room is like a romantic mountain lodge, and the rooms and bathrooms were very comfortable.

Review 118:Rather industrial/business park location - but maybe we didn't look atthe details online enough.

Review 119:Easy to find. Good facilities. Tea/coffee making facilities. Clean.

Review 120:We liked the quirky decor and the relaxed atmosphere. Nice breakfast sets you up for the day. The lady on reception did'nt get her name was first class nothing to much trouble.

Review 121:Reception was very good - all facilities explained clearly. Rooms very clean, comfy beds and nice bathroom facilities. Breakfast selection was excellent, in a very pleasant room.
