Reviews for Au Logis des Remparts

Review 1:Room is a bit small for two adults but still great value for money.

Review 2:Ideal location in the heart of town. Has parking behind the hotel that is secure. Well appointed room and helpful staff.

Review 3:The shower was not a shower just a spray nozzle that wet all the bathroom.

Review 4:Very nice hotel and well located. Very clean and comfortable. Good parking, entry a little tight but OK

Review 5:No lift.

Review 6:This hotel was perfectly located in the centre of St-Emilion and was comfortable with a helpful and friendly staff. The car park was a necessity given the difficulties of on-street parking. Breakfast was good, but quite expensive at €18 pp

Review 7:Shower was badly designed, had to stand in the corner if it was on the wall or hand hold it, so it was a quick in quick out!

Review 8:friendly hotel in fantastic location. Staff were very helpful.

Review 9:No air conditioning. Staff said it was on but later admitted it was turned off for the season even though temperature outside was high 70's. No elevator.. No Kleenex. Only room amenities were telephone and tiny tv. Parking access was horrendous!

Review 10:Location

Review 11:If travelling and staying more than one day, laundry can be an issue. The hotel does not have any laundry faciliaties and none are available in Saint Emilion.

Review 12:The hotel is in a great location and the staff are very helpful. The room was comfortable and well maintained.

Review 13:We booked this gorgeous hotel for 2 nights with the idea of training into Bordeaux for the day to sightsee but found the town so beautiful with it's ancient buildings and many fabulous cellar doors, that we changed plans and missed Bordeaux altogether.

Review 14:They offered and promptly picked us up from the train station. Our room was fantastic --large, nicely decorated and quiet. We would love to stay there again .

Review 15:The breakfast was over priced, and given that you are staying in one of the most famous wine producing towns in France a couple of wine glasses in the room would be nice.

Review 16:Location, room, the building was lovely, the swimming pool and gardens. Staff.

Review 17:Really excellent location. (Just obtain directions for the car parking before you start through the narrow streets of St Emilion!) Wonderful gardens and swimming pool.

Review 18:Lots of other tourists ..... like me :o|

Review 19:Excellent location with very peaceful quiet outlook to the large garden area. Plenty of outdoor space to chill out in a comfy chair in a manicured garden environment. Literally a few minutes walk to multiple choices of eating, drinking or shopping.

Review 20:Beautiful grounds to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine in the afternoon. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Staff was very helpful. Prepared a tea service for me and called a taxi for us upon our departure.

Review 21:Details which I put down to management and which I think they have done to try and milk extra dosh from your pocket! eg No tea/coffee in room. Breakfast is extra 16e -a bit expensive. No glasses in bedroom just plastic disposable beakers in bathroom and no mini-bar fridge and a 3euro fee if you ask for a glass!!!!!! There is an extensive wine list but if you want to drink your own in your room then 20e corkage according to the bar menu!! By the pool and in the garden there is no bar service. The bar menu appeared to be lacking anything other than wine/brandy -no g & t or beer!

Review 22:Location is fab and parking available. Lovely pool in peaceful area and good staff who were professional had great English and were very competent and helpful. Room small but clean and fresh, good bed and lovely clean bathroom

Review 23:We were told parking was available but on arrival were told we would have to upgrade to a superior room to guarantee parking for another 240 euros! The staff were also very unfriendly

Review 24:Location was good

Review 25:Hotel staff could not have been more helpful, especially with our heavy luggage to and from the car park. Lovely hotel with great character, lovely gardens and very convenient car park (although watch out it is a very narrow approach up to the gate/intercom). Alas we didn't get the chance to try the pool but it looked nice. Great location with good choice of restaurants and wine shops all an easy walk.

Review 26:Gorgeous gardens, lovely pool (bonus in the heatwave!), very accommodating staff with good English. Lovely big comfortable bed and excellent location. Nothing to fault.

Review 27:Friendly helpful staff. Location ideal for walking to everything in St Emilion. Lovely garden and pool. Very enjoyable breakfast. Good aircon. Would have liked shower head to be higher over bath to stand beneath it but water pressure fine where it was. Would have liked brighter light in room for reading maps etc. Good to have driver to take us to station as it is too far to walk with heavy suitcase. Overall thought it ideal and would stay there again.

Review 28:Nothing ! Excellent value for money

Review 29:Modern hotel in ancient setting - pool and grounds lovely given the competition for space in St Emilion - and the staff were very friendly and helpful

Review 30:Requested a room with shower not bath as my husband who has leg problems can't step into a bath and also twin beds but the double bed was very large ,we did not not get either.we arrived in the evening and spent the next day going round sight seeing but because we had to check out in the morning we could not go in the pool in the afternoon. The staff did let us sit in the lovely garden but a bit disappointed we could not have a swim .I would not recommend this hotel for a disabled person as there is no lift and a spiral staircase to rooms .The staff were lovely .

Review 31:I felt that breakfast could have been included in the price of the hotel.

Review 32:The location of St. Emilion is so beautiful and peaceful, and Au Logis des Remparts is a lovely peaceful hotel where I needed longer. I only stayed for one night and would have ideally liked three. The grounds are very relaxing and smell of flowers, and you really feel on holiday there: it is a peaceful oasis... There are seating areas around the garden and also a swimming pool area. The staff were very friendly and helpful too, I loved the place and will come back :-D

Review 33:Breakfast costs 16 EUR pp - which is a bit steep considering it is a French breakfast.

Review 34:Comfortable room and great view. The staff was great. The back garden and swimming pool is fantastic - fairly empty most of the time (when we were there in end of June). Really good location. Quiet when you get a room facing the back garden.

Review 35:When asked if we wanted breakfast in the morning, we accepted not knowing how expensive it was. Definitely not worth the €16 each; plenty of places in town for a fraction of the cost.

Review 36:The staff was outstanding!! The room was beautiful, the bed comfortable, the bathroom was sparkling clean. The grounds are lovely. We enjoyed a bottle of wine from the bar delivered to the garden; it was served with a delicious appetizer (gratis). Well Done!

Review 37:Staff could be more knowledgable about facilities in city. Also no ironing facilities in room and only a tiny closet sized space in entry foyer to do ironing. Pool was great as it was 39 degrees.

Review 38:My only dislike was that the breakfast was not worth the extra we paid but it was still tasty and the area you eat in is lovely.

Review 39:The garden and pool areas are stunning and it has vineyards out the back. Staff were friendly, it was clean and I would thoroughly recommend it. We stayed for 3 nights for part of our honeymoon.

Review 40:The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was small but very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was wonderful and being able to eat outside in the garden was a delightful experience.

Review 41:As we went there for the Vinexpo party, and normally it will be finished very late, so we decided to stay there for 1 night. And on the day we moved from Loire Valley, we arrived a bit late, just 1.5hr before the party, we were a bit rush to refresh and dress up. The problem came when we entered the room. They informed us the air-conditioning is out of service, but not even when we check-in in the lobby. They didnt offer any solve, but asked us to accept and open the window if hot. I really can't stand for this kind of service.

Review 42:The hotel has a wonderful location with excellent grounds in old town. We had lost luggage issues and the staff helped solve the problem. The six of us all agreed that the hotel was a perfect choice for us,

Review 43:Location was great, breakfast terrific, and when our train was cancelled due to a strike at the last minute, the owner was extremely helpful, even driving us to a different station.

Review 44:The room was small and I guess we were at the edge of the Wifi capacity. Avoid Domaine L'Escouache, this wine is not good. We had a really good Pomerol in the other side. No bath curtain and weird shower head.

Review 45:I have spent one night for the Saint-Valentine's day and was coming from bordeaux. Staff is really sympathetic. Great location for a good price (125€ on St-Val day) Parking available and locked at night. I didn't try the breakfast (better choice to go outside)

Review 46:Rooms are small; breakfast is so expensive for what you get that we chose to go elsewhere.

Review 47:Perfect location, both within Saint-Emilion and as a base for exploring the Bordeaux area; modern, nicely done public areas and garden. Staff was extremely helpful in arranging reservations etc.

Review 48:Bar and lounge area under utilised. Wished there's more life to it.

Review 49:Truly enjoyed my stay here. Clean, comfortable, convenience and friendly staffs. Private carpark comes in handy as St Emilion is always full of tourist n carpark space is a luxury.

Review 50:4 euros for a cup of coffee? Give me a break. Even in France, that sets a very negative mood. Hotel was just ok, staff was nice. I think it was mostly the city that I did not like, so it is hard to be objective.

Review 51:I liked the little rear courtyard for sharing a glass of wine. Parking was good.

Review 52:Access to car park difficult but manageable.

Review 53:Location was excellent.Beautiful terrace and garden which also included a swimming pool. The staff were very helpful.

Review 54:Our room was not very big.

Review 55:Tucked away on a small medieval street, the hotel was stunning in all respects. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the hotel was beautiful, the grounds were kept immaculate, the room was worth every Euro.

Review 56:Leaving !

Review 57:Parking so easy in a small bijou garden Staff the young receptionist swere at hand to attend to our baggage and cups of tea ! pool towels andall we needed The town was a delight too many restaurants abnd wineboutiques ! Superb sleeping room even at the front of the hotel

Review 58:Very limited and overpriced breakfasts. Parking, although very useful to have in a town centre is very awkward to access with a large car. Also the parking spaces are very close together making access to a parked car quite tricky.

Review 59:Very central and convenient location. Wonderful strong Wi-Fi everywhere - even at the far end of the garden! Lovely garden and a very nice small swimming pool.

Review 60:Single room not in a good position within hotel. Lacks privacy if window is opened as it is directly off hotel outdoor eating area. Wifi also slow.

Review 61:The hotel matches the location...beautiful. Gardens, the building and general outdoor area is fantastic

Review 62:We chose a lower priced room and the bed was a standard double. The room was tiny..... Mistake! You need to put in your breakfast order before 9pm on the evening before, which we forgot. Breakfast in the Town was not that great.

Review 63:Perfect location in a wonderful place. Quiet and charming hotel.

Review 64:Poor bedroom on the ground floor. Disturbed by breakfast and laying of table immediately outside window on same level Room dark and not private when window was open. Stuffy room when window was closed Would insist on a different room if to stay again

Review 65:Garden Parking availability Swimming pool Centre of the town.

Review 66:We love Saint Emilion! Beautiful during the day and at night. The hotel location is excellent in the center of the city with an easy walk to important locations. The gardens are lovely. We had breakfast on the terrace.

Review 67:Not much choice for breakfast and not value for money. Access to the car park was tight.

Review 68:The hotel is an old building which has been tastefully renovated to keep the old charm whilst being modern at the same time. Lovely pool. Parking on site which was very welcome as the village is very busy and finding parking spaces not always easy. Also you have to pay to park in the village.

Review 69:Our friends room was 60euros more than ours , slightly bigger was the only difference. Certainly not worth the extra money.

Review 70:Location and beautiful gardens

Review 71:We felt the breakfast was overpriced and the room was so too small

Review 72:We loved the pool and the grounds were stunning with the lay out , choice of plants and alot of effort shows . Quiet location and away from the busy tourist square.

Review 73:Small poky room, noise of dripping water and had to change rooms to one flight lower. No lift for the elderly. Staff reluctant.

Review 74:Ease of access to town.

Review 75:Breakfast is expensive, we didn't bother. Went to cafe opposite tourist office and got roughly same thing for half the price. Room was not ready until 4pm...which is quite late in day really. We were however allowed to park from when we arrived at 11am. Have to wait around a bit at reception as only ever one member is staff to do everything...mot big issue but we did have to wait 10mins to check in as 2 other couples ahead of us.

Review 76:Location - right in middle of village. Parking - behind hotel, spaces are small but only an issue if your car is massive. We drive family saloon and no problem. Good value for St Emilion...close to everything, easy access to vineyards etc.

Review 77:The beds were quite hard

Review 78:The location, garden and pool were all fantastic. The service was very good as well, and our concierge recommendation for dinner at a local seafood restaurant was excellent.

Review 79:The check in time is 16:00. However, the staff did their best to let me into the room much earlier. The breakfast is not value for money. Little variety, there was no cheese or ham, just butter and jam.

Review 80:I loved the service, the room is very comfortable with a great amenities kit, the facilities are very beautiful with a garden and a pool. The decoration is all very nice and the place is sunny. Very pictoresque facilities and room, very well taken care of.

Review 81:Booked 2 rooms. Standard at about 105 euros and comfort room at about 150. Comfort room on top floor, small window. Assumed this was a mistake but told that it was correct and that it was larger than the the standard - it was by about 10cm. Advice is to go for the standard room.

Review 82:The setting for this historic building is incredible. The gardens are large, with plenty of loverly sheltered seats for picnics and the great pool. The location is just perfect, a short walk from the town centre.

Review 83:We were running late for a dinner reservation and the time to get a taxi was to long so the owner drive us in his car! This was without asking and i think that is real customer service.

Review 84:Charge for Pool Towels, 1.50 EuroCannot drink outside wine at facilities without paying a 20 Euro "Corking fee". I felt like I was back in college drinking in a dorm room hoping that the RA didn't knock on my door to bust me.

Review 85:Clean Good Facilities Central Location

Review 86:They were very nice. The day I arrived it was raining and they had umbrellas for me to borrow. Also the gentleman who drove us to the station after checking out was very nice and took us on a small tour.

Review 87:Room heating system undersized

Review 88:Nothing bad!

Review 89:Very friendly.

Review 90:None

Review 91:Very central and parking in a private car park

Review 92:The driveway to the car parking is narrow

Review 93:Central within a Medieval village

Review 94:Staff was great

Review 95:Our room was very small, just enough room to walk around the bed

Review 96:Great location, hotel has beautiful gardens and pool

Review 97:Fantastic location and beautiful, spacious room.

Review 98:Very attractive property and location!

Review 99:Price of breakfast

Review 100:Reception staff and location

Review 101:Difficulty finding a wine chateau to visit.

Review 102:Location, available parking, lovely city

Review 103:Room was nice, comfy bed, nice garden area and close to restaurants.

Review 104:Lovely garden, somewhere to relax away from busy town. Being able to park in behind hotel was very useful .

Review 105:Breakfast is a joke - incredibly expensive for a coffee and a couple of mini croissants.

Review 106:Beautiful pool and grounds. Onsite parking

Review 107:The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was very nicely furnished and spacious. Loved the fresh orange juice machine at breakfast.
