Reviews for Relais du Silence Casa Païral
Review 1:Parking was expensive at 17Euros per day. Room was very small & there was no comfortable seating area.
Review 2:Charming hotel in a beautiful town. Room allocated on ground floor, as requested.
Review 3:Rooms nice but a bit cluttered. Bathrooms not well designed [we've stayed in two different rooms].
Review 4:Lovely courtyard for breakfast and to sit in. Nice pool. Hotel right in the centre of town and you can immediately step out into the port, a few yards away, but the ambience is tranquil, aided by the fountain. Excellent for a short break.
Review 5:Nothing it was perfect.
Review 6:Wow what a little treasure, from the friendly staff to the great location. Absolutely loved it here, thank you for a wonderful stay.
Review 7:No bad experience to write about but would have liked more English speaking TV channels, CNN, Bloomberg. BBC World reception was poor.
Review 8:Brilliant location and with parking!
Review 9:Our room was noisy. The walls were very thin and we could hear everything the neighbours were saying and doing. Our bathroom was mouldy and dirty and badly designed. The toilet was positioned across the entry to the shower. The carpet was stained and dirty.
Review 10:Location of the hotel was very convenient and the garden area was lovely.
Review 11:The rooms were poorly decorated old bashed up furniture... Very noisy you can hear people in the next room as if they were sitting in your room. The Were no signs how to get to the hotel car park plus €17 to park overnight was a little excessive.. You are paying purely for the location on this hotel...if you can pay for an upgrade maybe slightly better ...
Review 12:The hotel is in a prime location in Collioure right in the heart. A beautiful town to visit.
Review 13:This is a hidden gem in Coullioure. The rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. We stayed here several years ago and the rooms have been redecorated and upgraded since our last visit. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We opted to have the breakfast before we left; very nice and a good value. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Collioure.
Review 14:Only problem was the lack of soundproofing. We could hear next door's TV on quite late at night. I am sure they were unaware of that.,and also noises from the toilet upstairs! A bit disconcerting!
Review 15:Close to all services. Staff helpful Room with added bedroom useful for storage
Review 16:Room 9 is in the attic. View of a flat roof with air con exchangers on it or view of the road. Very noisy from 4.30am. Stairs a major problem, as I have bad knees, no lift. No tea and coffee facilities. Thought quite expensive for the room we had. Breakfast extra so Choose to have it in a restaurant with a sea view.
Review 17:Location was good for the restaurants. Dark haired female Receptionist was excellent.
Review 18:Poor attention to special requirements. We were travelling with a baby and a toddler and my parents. We requested two adjoining rooms or 2 rooms next door to each other some 9 months ahead of our stay with a reminder of our requirements 10 days before our stay. Despite this we were allocated 2 rooms in different parts of the hotel. So in the end we had to sleep with the baby and the toddler in our room which was not really big enough. We managed but it was less than ideal. Bath towels too small
Review 19:location pool cleanliness friendly and helpful staff
Review 20:Getting the car to the car park arriving on a busy Sunday afternoon was a bit stressful.
Review 21:Lovely location, an oasis in the heart of Collioure with easy access to the harbour area without even having to cross the main road. Once you get into the car park you are in a little enclave of peace.
Review 22:the 2 rooms we booked were expensive which we would understand given the position in Collioure and it being August but one of the rooms was definitely not good value for money because the noise from the square was unbearable and we were not warned of this neither were we given any money back!..there was also rotting fruit in the fridge!
Review 23:central position of hotel with parking
Review 24:Make sure to reserve a parking space during the peak season as the town can be extremely congested. Rooms are quite expensive.
Review 25:Beautiful courtyard and rooms. The location is fantastic. It is an oasis in the heart of one of the most beautiful towns in France.
Review 26:Get rid of the overpriced "host" bar in the room refrigerator and just have it empty so we can fit drinks and leftovers in. With stores so close the service is unnecessary and way overpriced. Also, our room seemed to be in the attic with a window that was really too small compared to other room in the hotel.
Review 27:Great location, Helpful front desk.
Review 28:I don't really like the pay as you go refrigerator set-up and would have preferred an empty fridge. Shops were so close--I could my own things in there.
Review 29:It was so convenient for walks around town. The pool area was well kept, and the courtyard was charming.
Review 30:The long staircase to our second floor bedroom, but only because it was so hot at the time.
Review 31:Excellent location right in the centre of Collioure but in such a peaceful setting. Nice room and bathroom. Easy parking.
Review 32:The room was a little claustrophobic and there was an ant infestation in the bathroom and around the door between the bathroom and the bedroom. We didn't report it until the next morning as we were only staying one night but couldn't have put up with it for longer than that.
Review 33:Perfect location, very friendly staff and very accommodating of our dog.
Review 34:Only mildly negative comment is that the breakfasts could have been more lavish for the price. But the setting, in the courtyard, was so lovely it seems churlish to criticise.
Review 35:Very pretty little hotel slap bang in the middle of Collioure - but you wouldn't know it from the peace and calm that envelops you as you walk in. Rooms were fine in size and full of character. We stayed in room 22 which was on the first floor with a small bvkny, overlooking the pool. Our two children (17 and 14) stayed in room 17 directly under us.
Review 36:Shower controls badly needed an up grade, very hot water difficult to control, almost ubiqutas in France
Review 37:Everthing was as expected for this type of property.A bit of french quirkiness.
Review 38:This sweet hotel is full of charm and staffed by an excellent group of people. The garden area and poolside is very private and peaceful, away from the madding crowd. Breakfast is fantastic!
Review 39:The car park is impossible to find without help from reception and it gets very busy. It is however worth paying for as parking in the town is a nightmare because of its popularity.
Review 40:The rooms overlook a walled garden which has a fountain and pool. The town is just outside the door, but despite that, the garden offers peace and calm. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. The room was large and comfortable.
Review 41:The breakfast in the sun dappled gardens was wonderful. Spacious room with hot shower and really large comfy bed. Great staff Having the swimming pool to ourselves.
Review 42:This is about the 3rd time we have stayed at Casa Païral. It is within a short walk of almost anywhere you would like to go in Collioure - the bay, restaurants, shopping and more. Secure parking. Quiet. Very charming.
Review 43:I should have gotten the directions to the parking in English. Had a difficult time finding it because roads were blocked for a jour de fête and public parking was full. Breakfast is very good but pricy.
Review 44:Staff was kind enough to continue speaking French with me even when I stumbled. Lovely view of garden, close to the action of the village, but quiet. Beautiful building and location.
Review 45:The room and bathroom was only mediocre and slightly dated. It was very small, and right on front of hotel so noisy. The quality of the towels and shower curtain were poor and the hair dryer was broken. I was surprised by the poorer quality of room because the entrance, lobby area and outside gardens are charming.
Review 46:The location was perfect. It was right in the central city so we could walk all through the town and down to the water which was beautiful. Also, the gardens and pool area were well maintained and were lovely.
Review 47:This hotel is close to the seaside, and a lovely escape from the tourist crowd. Breakfast is served on the patio in a lovely garden---we took a pass though to seek out breakfast closer on the seaside. Look for this hotel on foot. Once you find it, it is much easier to approach by car--and they will instruct you where to park in their wee lot.
Review 48:Nothing to complain about.
Review 49:Loved the location, the secret garden just a few yards from the town centre, and the sun drenched pool. Also loved the quality furniture in our room and the balcony overlooking the courtyard.
Review 50:Our room was spacious but in need of renovation and very tired (fridge on floor, rather loud wall paper peeling in places, worn carpet, tired bathroom). We did ask to be moved but this wasn't possible due to lack of space although to their credit I think the gentleman on reception would have moved us if he could. It was most disappointing as it was for a special occasion (birthday) and the room in no way resembled any pictures on the website for a privilege room. (Room 19)
Review 51:Location
Review 52:There is no lift in this hotel. The 16 euro for breakfast seemed a little pricey so we elected to grab a cappucino & pastry at the local cafe instead.
Review 53:The location of Casa Pairal was excellent - a bit difficult to find at first because it's tucked behind Cafe Sole and the GPS was a bit confused, but otherwise its a great location close to the sea. The hotel staff was very, very accommodating (but they could use more assistance during check-in and check out times). The hotel itself could use a bit of a facelift, it seems a little tired and dated but actually very very clean otherwise.
Review 54:Nothing.
Review 55:The ambiance and the charm of an old French house: perfectly located, wonderful architecture, beautiful garden, nice old furniture, perfect breakfast.
Review 56:Didn't have breakfast because it was too dear.
Review 57:Parking on site was great and very secure. Pool and garden area was a lovely oasis. Room decor was a little tired but bathroom was updated. Could see they had updated some rooms near the pool which looked lovely. Excellent location.
Review 58:Our room was rather tired and towels and bedlinen rather worn! Car park quite difficult to find!
Review 59:It's a most attractive hotel loads of character pretty garden.Reception area beautifully refurbished.
Review 60:I appreciate the chance to give feedback on what may be improved: I was never able to connect to wi-fi despite staff trying over and over to make the connection. Room needed more places (hooks, racks) to hang up hand-washed items and damp towels. I would have liked to have a wash cloth. Otherwise, was great!
Review 61:Location provides superb access to the train station, waterfront, beaches, market, restaurants, post office, pharmacy. Breakfast under the magnificent Magnolia tree is fresh and peaceful. Breakfast menu is quaintly French and delicious. Staff is helpful and makes your every wish come true. Liked the Banyuls wine - serve yourself in the library area. Great that staff spoke so many languages, I really appreciated that I could communicate in English.
Review 62:Watch leaving your windows open, quite a few mosquito's.
Review 63:Loved the location in the center of town, yet so quiet. Lovely garden and friendly staff.
Review 64:One of those perfect cities to visit in France; loved the unending greetings by other travelers and residents. Felt like a French home town. Food was great in smaller local restaurants. This hotel was perfect and lovely. Staff was very warm and accommodating.
Review 65:A little more care needed with detail, e.g. a small metal part of the bath handle had broken off and not repaired.
Review 66:Ideal location, relaxed atmosphere, helpful staff, handy carparking.
Review 67:Our room needed refreshing in a big way. Very dirty and stained carpeting, dirty old wallpaper, very small room. Breakfast was adequate, but overpriced.
Review 68:Location was good. Garden area was tranquil and attractive.
Review 69:The decoration in the room we had was slightly shabby. We could see the hotel but had great difficultly finding the parking and entrace. More signs would be useful.
Review 70:Casa Pairal is a wonderful place for a relaxing holiday just off the very busy sea front. The staff are extremely helpful and the continental breakfast is plentiful and delicious. The breakfast is served in the garden as well as indoors. The main hotel is a lovely old typically french mansion - full of character.
Review 71:Our room was very disappointing. A cramped, fusty room with old tired decoration, peeling wallpaper, tatty old carpet, and an air conditioning unit that was over noisy and under performing. We were recommended this hotel by my sister in law who has stayed twice before. I checked the guest book, as we began to wonder if we were in the right hotel, as room did not match her description and also what is shown on the web site!
Review 72:Location excellent outside facilities- garden, pool very tranquil. Staff were exceptionally helpful, and pleasant.
Review 73:No elevator.
Review 74:Great location. Secure parking on site. BBC TV. Nice pool. Helpful staff.
Review 75:No services, lnot possible to get a cool drink of tea or coffee.
Review 76:Beautiful building. A quiet oasis in a busy area of the town
Review 77:Great location and comes with a pool. Nice garden courtyard.
Review 78:Hard to find. No elevator. Interior needs some updating.
Review 79:Location. Parking. Staff. Tranquility.
Review 80:Wifi uncertain and hairdryer poor. Cheaper to park in public car park
Review 81:Location and decor were superb. Very quiet. An oasis in a busy place
Review 82:Central position in a very attractive town.Very quiet.

Review 113:Location Atmosphere Parking
Review 114:More like a home than a hotel.
Review 115:In the centre but very quiet, just a few yards to centre, beach and restaurants. The gardens were lush courtyards with a fountain, and a lovely pool.
Review 116:It's not easy to find the car parking
Review 117:Don't pay for breakfast. Wander in to town. Too expensive in the hotel.
Review 118:Tucked away so a haven to return to. Lovely style and we had a nice room.
