Reviews for Les Logis du Roy

Review 1:The place can be hard to find for a first-timer, and since reception only works at commercial hours (in a Wine Shop from the same owner), plan ahead and arrive when it's daytime. If you need access you can also phone them and they'll come real fast, but it's important to plan ahead both check-in and check out, as there may not be available staff.

Review 2:The room was fantastic - a well restored medieval house, really comfortable. Staff was really helpful and the location is at the best place in St Emillion. Breakfast was great as well.

Review 3:Manager was very good. We travel by train and he picked us up. We rented the apartment and there was a lot of space in 3 rooms. There was a washer/dryer which was wonderful. They supplied a breakfast which was pretty good.

Review 4:Breakfast was basic but was not a major concern for us.

Review 5:Nice guest apartment in St Emilion. Perfectly adequate for our one night stay. Eat in the accompanying restaurant Les Delices du Roy. Beautiful food and wine and very reasonably priced.

Review 6:A lovely apartment with plenty of atmosphere, located right in the heart of Saint Emilion. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the ajoining restaurant was excellent. Can't wait to go back.

Review 7:Several flights of stairs and no elevator. It would be difficult for visitors with mobility issues or a lot of luggage.

Review 8:Location was excellent. The owner's son was very courteous and helpful. Breakfast was delivered every morning to our flat.

Review 9:Very difficult to get there with GPS. Had to stop and call hotel.

Review 10:Location Found a wine merchant near hotel that can ship to US at a reasonable price

Review 11:When ready to check out ( to be done in the shop near apartment) , no one was present despite my telling staff of my intended departure time (10am). I rang on my mobile and was told they would be 2 minutes. 15 minutes later I had to ring again and they arrived 5 minutes later. No apologies were given, I was disappointed.

Review 12:Centrally located in the village of St Emilion. Was fortunate to park the car immediately outside property, otherwise a walk would have been needed from car park. Village is charming and well worth a visit. Good choice of restaurants nearby.

Review 13:There wasn't anything that I really didn't like. Not really a hotel, no front desk to speak of, no phone in the room, no way to reach anyone in case of an emergency.

Review 14:Location was excellent, right in the middle of St Emilion.

Review 15:Location was perfect in the middle of town, you can walk everywhere, amenities were very good, comfortable bed and nice apartment, made for very enjoyable stay! Breakfast was simple but plentiful and good including fresh croissants and bread delivered every morning. Circular staircase ok for us.Restaurant Les Délices du Roy next door also very good - excellent Creme Brulee.

Review 16:The jute flooring is very rough and smells. Internet connection was not very good.

Review 17:Location and items in the fridge to use; eggs, cheese, meat, and milk.

Review 18:We were put in the top room, an attic location. One could not sit up in bed, a man over 5' could not stand to use the toilet. The climb up a norrow spiral starecase was not appropriate for a mature couple and in fact the exit from the "Imperial Suite"!! was dangerous as you walked out of your door onto the narrowest of the steps on the staircase. They claim tha breakfast is included; but don't mention that you make it yourself and the coffee maker in our room did not work. When we complained about the attic room and said that we could not stay there, a young man;s comment was "You saw the pictures on the internet". Nowhere did it show or mention the tact that it was an attic room and that it was up four flights on a narrow spiral staircase. The facility should not be recommended for anyone over 50 and certainly not for anyone with limited movemet.

Review 19:The location

Review 20:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 21:Everything was great. Nice room. Breakfast delivered to door was nice. So could sleep in and not worry about going out for breakfast. Good position.

Review 22:Difficult and expensive to park nearby. No window curtains or toilet ventilation. Breakfast on a tray in the room.

Review 23:Central location to explore town. Comfortable bed.

Review 24:Decor is a bit dated and the AC unit was totally inadequate.

Review 25:Lots of space with kitchen and breakfast delivered to your doorstep. Nice location above a wine shop.

Review 26:None - was great!

Review 27:Amazing location, right in the heart of the old town! Everything about this place was so quaint - the kitchen is a little run down, but it didn't matter one bit, as we were out and about eating at all the amazing restaurants in town. Check in and out was super easy, made all the more interesting that it's in a wine shop!

Review 28:No a/c so it was very hot in the apartment which meant we had to sleep with windows open - therefore it was noisy (early morning dustcarts and general street noise) and couldn't prevent mosquitos entering (which still got to us despite our plug-in and anti-mosquito spray). No shelf in shower area to place toiletries. Parking tricky in August, we would have appreciated advice by email as to arrival/parking arrangements as the check in area is in the owner's wine shop - not a problem but feel it would be easy to inform clients of this in advance. Owners' restaurant a huge disppointment, very expensive for average food.

Review 29:Location was good, very spacious apartment for 3 people, clean and comfortable. Kitchen area well equipped, everything you could wish for was provided. Very laid back, relaxed attitude which we appreciated. The apartment lacks outside space (garden/terrace) but we knew this so is not a complaint, simply a comment.

Review 30:Nothing.

Review 31:The location was great in the center of town and the staff (owner) very helpful. We stayed in the top apartment and had an awesome view from the kitchen. Sydney, the owner's son, help us with booking wine tastings at farms and ordering a taxi the day we departed. The size of the flat is great. I will stay there again if I visit St. Emilion again.

Review 32:No major concerns - a little difficult to unpack as no off road packing near- but staff v helpful

Review 33:Pretty much everything Great location friendly family staff who also run great little wine shop next door and good bistro up the road Excellent great value place to stay whilst enjoying St emillion

Review 34:A quaint apartment in a beautiful village with gourmet restaurants on your door step. The restaurant associated with the accommodation is well worth a visit.

Review 35:My only negative comment would be that the cupboard door in the bathroom was broken and our room was missing an iron and ironing board.

Review 36:The location was perfect. It was clean and tidy and well layed out. The staff at the wine store / reception were very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful stay here and would be happy to recommend it.

Review 37:The air conditioner could be stronger. It was in the 90s and it cooled the room just barely enough.

Review 38:This is a great inn which is in the center of St Emilion. The hosts are super friendly and speak great english. They will help you with anything you need. We stayed in the family room on the top floor. It is very roomy for four people and the loft was fun for our kids. You do have to walk up three flights of stairs but that is part of the charm as the stairs are a circular staircase made out of carved stone. The room is very clean and well taken care of. The breakfast is outstanding. They provide you with more food than you can eat. The best part is that you can prepare it yourself in your kitchenette when you are ready to eat. I highly recommend staying here if you are going to visit St Emilion.

Review 39:Great location Friendly staff Good meal in restaurant Les Délices du Roy next door Great breakfast - fresh bread and croissants delivered to room each morning Great room - Suite Impérial, ideal for 2 adults and 2 teens

Review 40:Loved everything

Review 41:The location was superb, handy for all restaurants. Couldn't believe how many wine shops in the area . So quiet at night , lovely.

Review 42:There were a few things we didn't like.....the owner and son have'attitude' when we had a few problems I.e no instructions forwashing machine ( we are not French) no pillows for sofa bed!! It waslike 'what now'!!

Review 43:The accommodation for the price. Very cute and clean! However, they needto advertise not Close to train station and no transport available!!

Review 44:St Emilion is a magical place, and Les Logis du Roy allows you to stay in the car free centre of this little village, with free parking an easy walk down the street. The hosts were delightful and had excellent English, which was a bonus for us wanting to access information with our lousy French. Would definately stay there again and we do hope to return. Don't let the daytime tourist chaos put you off - once you get there it is fine and most of the tourists diappear between 5 and 6pm, leaving the late afternoon and evening to the few lucky tourists who have secured accommodation inside the town.

Review 45:Lovely room in the old medieval centre of Saint Emillion with parking. Our room was spotlessly clean and we had a comfortable bed. Breakfast was delivered to the door in the morning. The owners have a great restaurant which was below our room and their own wine which was delicious.

Review 46:Excellent location and lots of space for my family. My kids loved opening the shutters and looking out at the people walking by below. Close to a payed parking lot so you don't have to haul your bags too far up the cobbled street (4-5 minute walk). Excellent croissants, pastries and bread delivered to your door in the morning. Fridge also had a welcome snack of cheese and meat, juice and milk. Excellent after a long drive.

Review 47:There is no air conditioning and the weather was over 90 degrees Fahrenheit during our stay. I was in room on top floor (Imperial Suite). The room was great but it got very hot.

Review 48:I went with group of six and we had all three rooms in the main building. We were only people in building. It felt like a private lodging just for us.

Review 49:The recommended restaurant LE TERTRE far too expensive , for what you received , I expected a lot better, from reading other peoples comments, very disappointed.

Review 50:Very interesting old village, OK for short stay

Review 51:Sadly very noisy outside in the street overnight. Had to have windows open because it was very hot. Also very light when the sun came up. (No blackout curtains).

Review 52:Clean, beautiful room. Pierre the owner charming and pleasant. Excellent food and wine in restaurant. Definitely recommend.

Review 53:The room had all the facilities we needed and is located in the centre of the town. The owner was very friendly and also runs the wine shop downstairs and the little restaurant under the room. We ate there and were very satisfied.

Review 54:Loved the privacy of the imperial suite with a wonderful view across red rooftops and vineyards. Meats cheese juice and coffee were provided (fridge), fresh baguette and croissants delivered in the morning. Pierre is an excellent host, his restaurant is highly recommended.

Review 55:The apartment was really lovely and spacious. Breakfast was plentiful and delivered on time. The owners also have a wine shop and restaurant in which we dined. Great meal and wine. Really enjoyable.

Review 56:The slipcovers on the chairs and the couch (white) were stained. The magnum room had low ceilings but was on lower floor so fewer stairs

Review 57:The apartments were well equipped including wash machine, microwave and dishwasher. Loved the shower. The location was very convenient. The fridge was stocked for breakfast including make your own eggs plus basket of fresh bread at the door in the morning the jeroboam room had nice high ceilings and felt roomy.

Review 58:We could have benefited from basic instructions on how to operate the laundry machine.

Review 59:Loved the breakfast (which actually included enough for a light lunch). Provided all the necessary amenities in a beautiful setting.

Review 60:Wi-fi did not ever work. Old coffee grounds were left in coffee pot. Parking was a couple of blocks down a cobblestone street.

Review 61:Location and the two young hosts were cheerful and eager to answer questions.

Review 62:Really nothing.

Review 63:The cleanliness and beauty of our room but, above all the pleasant, calm and helpfully (never false or oppressive) attitude of the owners. The restaurant is worth visiting: surely one of the best in the village.

Review 64:Even though the location is great, it is hard to find because there is no lobby. The family owner wine shop next door is where you go to check in.

Review 65:This was more like an apartmentioned than a hotel room with a kitchen, pull out sofa bed and bedroom. Overall I could not have had a better experience. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling to St. Emilion

Review 66:Nothing!!

Review 67:Nice old building and decent enough accommodation. Great location. Spotless and comfortable. Good shower and well kitted out kitchen. Seating for four at dining table.

Review 68:Drive down through the thin & windy streets but it really is half the fun, maybe get a small hire car next time! Bedroom light is very dim

Review 69:Location Great wine Great restaurant close by Fresh baguette & pastries each morning Great walks

Review 70:We loved the location and the amount of space, comfort and tranquility this provided. The owner and his son were very attentive and very helpful. We would love to return here.

Review 71:It's kind of odd when "breakfast included" means there is ham, cheese, and butter in the fridge along with juice and two raw eggs you have to cook yourself. Not a great imposition, but made breakfast take a bit more effort than we expected.

Review 72:Location. Pleasant decor. Fully stocked kitchen (pots, pans, dishes, knives, flatware).

Review 73:The hosts could not have been more helpful. The apartment is well equipped and spacious. Breakfast is delivered to the door each morning for you to enjoy at your leisure. Excellent restaurant next door with local and seasonal produce. The owners and their son are charming and very helpful. The location of the apartment is perfect for everything in St Emillion and its surrounding areas whilst the apartment benefits from being located in a quiet street.

Review 74:Shower was good but water gets onto the stone floor and makes it very slippery

Review 75:Great location and the only place I have stayed where the reception is in a wine shop!

Review 76:Dirty, Disappointing breakfast The place was not as clean as we would have expected. The white sofa was full of stains and clearly in need of a good wash. The bathroom was not cleaned during our stay (stains and hair was all over the floor as we came back after the room was supposedly done!). The breakfast was disappointing, especially the pastry (and that should not be difficult since excellent croissants are found easily in France!). I suggest that guests skip it and go in town for better pastry! This is not a hotel but an apart'hotel. There is no reception or staff on site. The entrance smells heavily of mold.

Review 77:Good location, quiet and very spacious

Review 78:Bathroom would have been more convenient to use if it had shower curtains or a glass door to keep the water from spilling out.

Review 79:We spent a night in Saint-Emilion and every minute of it was worth it. Stanley was amazing. He made sure that our stay will be pleasant . He picked us up from the train station (Saint-Emilion), brought us breakfast in the morning and drove us back to the station when it was time to leave.

Review 80:couldn't stay longer

Review 81:location, size, helpful owner, full kitchen lets you make your own dinner if you please, fresh pastry delivered to your door each morning

Review 82:Access was tricky- on a narrow street, with no parking. We should have known about the rear street. The stairs were steep.

Review 83:The site was very good for pedestrians Breakfast was delivered to our door.

Review 84:Fan was provided and sufficient for our September trip for comfort, but summer temperatures might be a bit warm if you like it really cool at night.

Review 85:Charming location in St. Emilion. Rustic wooden shutters open onto cobble stone street in the heart of the tow. Owners also own the restraunt below with fabulous menu and fair pricing. The wine shop next door is also theirs, with good wines and prices. Generous breakfast is provided in room with the flakiest croissants we have ever experienced.

Review 86:Couldn't check in till 4.00 No air con Shower was so powerful, no curtain so bathroom floor became a mini paddling pool

Review 87:Beautifully presented Lovely breakfast, fresh and brought to the door Quiet, clean, generous space Lovely shower

Review 88:Three women but 2 beds were up in a 'loft' area; suited better for kids than adults. Not much ventilation. Felt the proprietor was more interested in the wine shop than assisting us on the B&B side. Parking was along the street; OK but not handy.

Review 89:Great location; walking in town. Fresh baguettes and croissants at our door every AM. Liked that it was an apartment. Liked the stocked refrigerator with milk, juice, yogurt, apple sauce, meat & cheese. Able to make all the coffee we wanted. Well stocked! Clean and plenty of room on the main floor. There may be lots of stairs which were no problem for us.

Review 90:Initially the parking seemed challenging, as St Emillion was rammed (Early August) but it wasn't a problem. We managed to find a pay space nearby and then moved the car to a free spot in the evening, where if stayed for the duration.

Review 91:We loved our stay at Logis du Roy. The location amongst the wine shops and restaurants in the centre of this historic town was excellent and the accommodation was perfect for our needs and surprisingly quiet at night. Their restaurant nearby was top notch and great value as well.

Review 92:The room could benefit from air conditioning as the fan is not sufficient given the humidity.

Review 93:The room was a decent size with a very smart layout to maximise the feeling of space. The breakfast basket which was delivered each morning was the perfect way to wake up with excellent coffee and freshly baked bread and croissants. The staff were extremely helpful and could not do enough for us during our stay.

Review 94:It was a little difficult to find but that is common with all of the places in St Emilion

Review 95:The family were really helpful and even did a wine tasting in their shop below. Their restraint up the road is superb. If you stay make sure you try some wine from the family vineyard.

Review 96:Only downside was that during the day with windows open it is quite noisy on the street below. We were out mostly though & by the time we returned after dinner at about 11pm it was almost silent..

Review 97:We stayed for 1 night & loved this place. Right in the heart of the village the accommodation has it's own front door off the street. Check -in is done in the wine shop below. The room was a mix of old and new decor with lots of character. We had our own lounge with fire place as well as a modern bathroom & separate bedroom with a large comfortable bed. You get a mini fridge and a very generous breakfast consisting of croissants, bread, coffee etc & is delivered to your room at a time of your choice. The owner is friendly and keen for you to try their wines in the shop below.

Review 98:The accommodations are above their restaurant. One night it was a bit noisy. The window has a large shutter. We closed it and this helped with the noise...

Review 99:I liked the personal attention. The owner offered to meet us at the train station and give use a ride to their hotel.

Review 100:Shower was open, prone to getting water on the floor.

Review 101:Great location, near free parking on weekends. Great restaurant with adjacent wine store was right downstairs. Fresh local breakfast. Easy checkin/checkout. Bed was very comfortable, good sitting area for cocktails and fridge for storing local delights.

Review 102:The most beautiful accommodation in our stay in France. The apartment is well located and very clean with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Wi-Fi was OK and there is parking nearby. Breakfast served in your door is excellent. We had dinner in Les delices du Roy which was very good but watch out for the wine prices that are very expensive.

Review 103:The 52 steps up to room 3!

Review 104:Ambiance, rooftop views, charm and history all around you. St Emilion was an excellent base to explore the region. The village was charming, food and wine enjoyable, lovely to stroll closeby for dinner. Beautiful views of surrounding Heritage listed region.

Review 105:Nothing , everything fabulous.

Review 106:The accommodation was gorgeous didn't want to leave , lovely village lots of history , beautiful scenery , lovely shops and fabulous wines thoroughly enjoyed our stay , it wasn't long enough .

Review 107:A great little place in the heart of the village. Very privatewith your own entrance. Loved the breakfast delivered on the doorstep with hot coffee. Friendly staff.

Review 108:great location, breakfast delivered, light and airy, very comfortable, owners restaurant 2 doors up was wonderful

Review 109:Early check in time is 6 pm but we did email ahead that we would be late & were accomodated

Review 110:Had to phone owner to check in Needed better instructions to find the property and for parking

Review 111:Centre of village Room small but adequate Breakfast

Review 112:Making my own breakfast

Review 113:Really lovely apartment everything is within walking distance had dinner in Roy's restaurant really good enjoyed our stay

Review 114:Location, helpful and friendly staff

Review 115:Location in the centre of town, style, space and comfort.

Review 116:Good 1 bedroom apartment with exellent location.

Review 117:Fabulous location

Review 118:The location is perfect. It's within walking distance of everywhere in the city and immediately next to their wine store and restaurant.

Review 119:Logis du Roy is located beautifully in Saint Emilion. The amenity is great and surrounded by good food, great wine and stunning scenery.

Review 120:large apartment well appointed nearby carpark central area

Review 121:Nothing

Review 122:Location, town centre, restaurant and wine sales downstairs

Review 123:large comfortable room in a great location would definitely recommend

Review 124:friendly family who won the accommodation.
