Reviews for Café Hôtel de l'Avenir

Review 1:The receptionist knocked at my door without introducing himself. I did not know who was on the other side of the door. Even when I answered, he kept quiet as if he was waiting for something to happen or he was just spying on me. They can avoid disturbing people who are sleeping by giving them the receipt of their payment when they check in instead of knocking their door all the time for a piece of paper.

Review 2:The hotel is very clean and very comfortable. The area is very popular but safe.

Review 3:The wifi worked well, but the speed was inconsistent (e.g. it was difficult to hold a Skype conversation). It's great that the hotel is right next to a Metro station -- but it still requires a lengthy subway ride in and out of the city.

Review 4:The staff greeted us warmly and made us feel welcome, and they explained how everything worked in clear detail. The room itself was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

Review 5:Food is really nice and affordable in the restaurant and the waiters were wonderful and funny. In the morning staff seemed to be little unfriendly but later they were very kind and helpful.

Review 6:Noisy. You could hear the street noise clearly. Shared bathroom, however it was always clean. I asked for a non smoking room but got a smoking room which was very unpleasant as people around the rooms are smoking and the smell drifts in. The room smelt really bad. Wasn't very comfortable.

Review 7:The room was clean. Came with a nice shower. Overall the room was okay. The hotel had a great location as it was across the way from the metro and took you straight into the heart of the tourist areas.

Review 8:It's not good to go home at night (after the restaurant close). Strange people around.

Review 9:Next to the subway; Fantastic staff; Good restaurant;Very clean.

Review 10:I particularly liked the warm welcome, the restaurant coming with the hotel, the kindness and efficiency of the staff, the late opening hours, the atmosphere, the neighbourhood, the metro and bus stations at less than a minute, the clealiness of my room and its decoration, the generous dimensions of the shower, the Haribos (sweets) on the desk in my room, the free WiFI, even the common WC outside the room which was very neat and clean.

Review 11:Very good location. Next to subway stop. We didn't try the café below the hotel but it looked nice. Supermarket, nice old church, very good kebab houses and local bar within 2 blocks. Room was small but well renovated. street market in neighbourhood Friday and Sunday mornings

Review 12:It is on the line 13 metro at Garibaldi and outside the periphique but this wasn't really a problem since I had breakfast near the hotel, went to town and came home at night. The night I took a cab (3:30AM) it was only 19EUR from the Latin Quarter.

Review 13:The hotel was very clean and the rooms were well appointed although very small but if you plan on spending time in the room why did you come to Paris. The metro was about 100 metres away. Shower was big enough, even for me. Wi-Fi was good. Area was quiet at night. Café on ground floor was a nice plus.

Review 14:Could have done with a few hooks or shelves to hang coats or other clothing

Review 15:Friendly and helpful staff. The room was on the small side but adequate for our stay. All rooms were clean and the bathroom was spacious.

Review 16:Breakfast= 1 croissant, 1half of baguette, 1 coffee, 1 juice, 1 plain joghurt. Better to go to the Paul Boulangerie et Patisserie

Review 17:I liked location - Metro station Garibaldi next the hotel, McDonalds next the hotel, Paul Boulangerie et Patisserie bakery just few steps

Review 18:We did not like the matras. The double size bed was rather small.

Review 19:Clean and tidy hotel. Decent value for money. Not too much noise outside, during the night. Right next to the Metro-station; 10 minutes to Champs-Élysées, 25 minutes to Gare du Nord.

Review 20:Room was a bit small for the price, but other than that I really enjoyed my stay while i was there

Review 21:The room was very clean and the hostel was really well run with a great cafe right below. Really loved the breakfast served and the staff was really helpful.

Review 22:The room was lovely, very cozy and clean. There isn't much to do in the area around the hotel, it's outside of Paris city center but still withing zone 3 so metro is good to get around. And the metro station is right across the street.

Review 23:there is NO AIR CONDITIONING in the hotel unfortunately when I was there it was really hot during 2 days in Paris I'm a Caribbean person I know what hot mean it was really hot in the room

Review 24:I really like the welcoming of the manager and the staffs the hotel was very clean And the restaurant it was very good I eaten 3 times there good value for money I would like to say a very big Merci to all the members of the staffs for making me fell like I was at home I will stay there again for my next voyage!!!

Review 25:Very gross toilet!

Review 26:The small bedroom didnt bother us but the outdoor toilet was very far from clean. In fact its gross. The location is perfec,if this hotel have inside toilet would be best!

Review 27:The hotel is situated away from the tourist area so one gets the feel of living with the locals. Great for the independent traveller. Loved the quirky renovated rooms adapted to the shape of the corner building.

Review 28:There is no air conditioning in the rooms nor were any fans provided. This wasn't so much of a problem during our stay in the third week of July but the heatwave conditions of the fortnight before we arrived must have been intolerable. Although metro stop Garibaldi is literally just across the road from the hotel, if you are out for the night in a distant part of central Paris, you need to plan your return precisely, otherwise you will end up having to take a long and expensive taxi ride back to the hotel.

Review 29:The friendliness of the staff was exceptional and all spoke English more than adequately. The hotel is an attachment to the restaurant and not the other way around, in my opinion. However, this is not a negative. On the contrary, staying there gave the feel of really living in a well appointed and tastefully decorated Parisian apartment in an unfashionable but authentic and safe area. The restaurant itself was thoroughly Parisien and very reasonably priced. We had one lunch there and breakfast on three mornings. Breakast at 6 euro per person was great value for Paris and included croissant, tartine, jams, yogurt, orange juice and any coffee of choice, all served with a smile!

Review 30:Room is bit small and doesn't have AC/Fan, could be warm during summer.

Review 31:The best part of hotel is its location just two min 2 walk from Hotel to Garibaldi metro station. Staff was very friendly and happy to help you in all ways.

Review 32:Staff most likely only available in the morning. If you need anything you need to call them by phone or ask restaurant staff.

Review 33:Location is good, supermarket in the neighborhood. Room door lock by code. Easy and no trouble with key.

Review 34:Bedroom too small. Difficult for two people to walk around. Room not En-suite.

Review 35:The Staff are very friendly and the Metro and Supermarket are very close. The food in the hotel was very good.

Review 36:The location was superb for a base in Paris and 30 seconds from a metro stop - Garibaldi on line 13. Staff were all very friendly, kind and committed to doing a good job. Room 21 was large by Paris standards and always very clean.

Review 37:We booked a 3 night stay at this hotel for a base to explore the sights of Paris and it was a fabulous choice! The staff were so friendly, and the rooms were clean. The wifi was free and kept a good connection the whole time. There was no toilet in the room, but there was one very close to the hotel room. There is a metro station across the road which gets you into central paris within 10 minutes. The cafe downstairs serves lovely meals until 10pm at night. i would reccomend this hotel to anyone wanting a base for exploring the city.

Review 38:Just few metres away from Garibaldi Metro station (direct line to Champ Elysees). Room was very clean. Maybe quite small for some, but very cozy and seems like they have just refurbished it. No toilet for our room, only shower and sink. However the shared toilet was also clean. (there are en-suite rooms if you booked early) There are supermarket nearby, flea market on weekend, few kebabs restaurants,Macdonals, pubs and others eating places. Even the hotel itself has their own pub and restaurants. Overall we are satisfied with this hotel. Price are considerably cheap. Recommended for budget travellers.

Review 39:Entrance from the bar but it wasn't any issue

Review 40:Location , Just beside Metro Station. Room is perfect but bath room havnt transparent door they but put Curtain. Friendly and helpful staff. They warm our food and serve at room. Overall nice place

Review 41:Only the area I didn't like.

Review 42:The staff was very friendly & helpful and the room was very clean. Close to the metro line. Good stay if you go for an event at Stadefrance. Three metro stops!

Review 43:nothing

Review 44:Staff were fantastic really helpful after a trying day getting from Gard de nord thanks to the unhelpful staff there sent me miles out of my way wish the hotel staff worked there

Review 45:1. Better to have a lift 2. Extra Bed does not require until asked 3. It would be better if there is a bit more variety in the breakfast

Review 46:1.All the staffs are awesome and very co-opeartive.(10 star) 2. Location wise very good just opposite the Garibaldi Metro station. 3. WiFi is very good 4. Value for money. Good Budget hotel. 5. Will recommend to others

Review 47:There was not a single problem. Only thing to take in mind is that there is not an elevator. If that isnt your case, this is the place to stay!

Review 48:Everything was excellent. The crew working there are the best! Good location and the rooms are great.

Review 49:Were given our rooms and access codes but when we went to our rooms they were still occupied by other guests. Even though this was a bit unusual the hotel staff quickly corrected their mistake and gave us new unoccupied rooms.

Review 50:Hotel staff were very nice. The bar downstairs served lovely food and wine. Location was good for the ice rink as we stopped over to compete in a competition.

Review 51:The internet was a little spotty when I was there. It would be nice if they had a stronger and faster signal for their wifi. I had to send files to a client and it took quite a while to send. Also, as a tourist, I need wifi to research places I wanted to go and get directions.

Review 52:Café Hôtel de l'Avenir is extremely clean, and well located. The metro is across the street, and a bar/restaurant is downstairs. It is extremely convenient to be able to come down for breakfast and a coffee in the morning before heading out for the day, and the same for the evening. It is a quiet street, and beautiful! The light is really nice in the room, and I like that I have my own personal shower and sink, and don't mind the shared toilet at all. I like the security and that there aren't keys to keep up with. Such a great way to just have keycodes for the rooms. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly as well.

Review 53:Clean, well-run and friendly hotel. Basic accommodation, but very well thought out. Close to Garibaldi metro station, 15-minutes to the Champs-Éylsées. Local market on Sunday morning meant the missus was in bargain heaven.

Review 54:This hotel was a great find. The location is great- literally across the road from the metro entrance. The hotel is a bit outside of central Paris but with the metro everywhere is easily accessible. The staff were helpful and kind and the hotel has a generally secure feel to it.

Review 55:There was not one single thing I didn't like, perfect from head to toe.

Review 56:The location is perfect ( metro station right across the street ) which obviously means easy access to anywhere around Paris. The hotel is very clean and the staff are just wonderfull people! You pay exactly what you get for; the service, the food, the room, the comfort.

Review 57:The area is only serviced by Metro line 13. Line 13 is one of the busiest in Paris. It is frequently packed shoulder to shoulder and often smells really bad. If you are going to central Paris daily, then you will be on this Metro at least an hour every day.

Review 58:Friendly and welcoming staff. The restaurant is good and has reasonable prices for Paris. Convenient access to a bakery, pharmacy, and grocery. There is a Metro stop across the street.

Review 59:Smal rooms, but enought if you want only to sleep not to spent a day. Lack of toillet. In the room you have shower and sink and toilet is accros the room on the same flor. Blankets are made of sintetic, not coton.

Review 60:I was in Paris with my girlfriend. Hotel has perfect location, 15 minutes with metro M13 to Champ El bulevard and metro is literary in front of the hotel. Food is excelent, staff also. Big super market is also very near this hotel.

Review 61:St-Ouin is not a very good location; Room is as small as the bed. If youare used to north american hotels, you will be shocked. Nosoap/shampoo providedfor the shower. Had to buy mine the day after. No toilettes in the room... A guy can deal with that. A girl....

Review 62:Room was sooo clean! Perfectly clean. All furnitures in good conditions,no mold, nothing. Very clean place. Ability to regulate room temperatureas warm as I like for the day, but as cold as I want to the night.Ability to open the windows. Area is quiet on the night.

Review 63:It's impossible to dislike something. Thank you guys :)

Review 64:Good staff, very kind and funny people. Great place, with a particular atmosphere. Excellent restaurant, with typical menu and delicious food (and cheap prices). Room very clean and confortable. Nice place, just near all the services (subway, supermarket, pharmacy, boulangerie, patisserie, etc..)

Review 65:Sammy and all the other staff were extremely helpful during our stay. They were more than happy to help us out with directions and any other information we needed from them. The rooms were spotless and spacious. Metro station right outside giving great access to all of Paris. Couldn't have been happier and will definitely stay there again.

Review 66:Room a bit small, but anyway.. we were there to enjoy the city.

Review 67:Great location, staff communicative and very friendly. They told us many tips about our trip in Paris, with spots and shortcuts to reach them. BEST POINT was the restaurant, just below the hotel; a magic atmosphere and a 5 star kitchen where to have an amazing dinner, between good wine and tasty food!

Review 68:nothing to complain about!!

Review 69:fabulous, tasteful, superb food in the restaurant!! great atmosphere, clean room, very nice and accommodating staff, fantastic access to town by metro, great price and I would come back there in a heartbeat! Don't search more, this is the place where you should stay in!

Review 70:No toilet in room but I knew this when I booked and it was right outside my room so wasn't a major problem for a short stay

Review 71:As a base for going to a concert at stade de france I couldn't ask for any better. Hotel is located 3 stops from stadium and garibaldi metro station is across the road. Places to get food, supermarkets and pharmacies are within walking distance of the hotel. Would recommend

Review 72:Very friendly and helpful staff, clean room, great location - near the Metro station, great food and wines, excellent free WiFi, relaxing environment.

Review 73:No hairdryer in room, no lift

Review 74:Very reasonable prices, great location- so close to metro and mcdonalds. Can see sacre coeur from the street! Staff lovely, bar is great although unfortunately had no food there, looked lovely though.

Review 75:I had visited this hotel with my parents. our room was in 3rd floor and hotel has no lift. This was a bit problem and rooms at lower floors had shared toilets.so we had to stick on to 3rd floor. Room size was also too small to accommodate baggage. Over all it was decent enough. If you do not expect lift and air condition.

Review 76:The connectivity to metro and local busses is excellent. You step out of hotel and you board bus /train. Rooms were maintained tidy and staff were good.

Review 77:Registering for the hotel in the bar was not the most pleasant experience. The bar man was kind as I sucked in cigarette smoke, though.

Review 78:I ended up in a spacious room. I liked that all rooms had a table and chair, allowing me to relax some. Street noise was fairly tolerable. I loved only having codes to recall for the doors.

Review 79:nothing!

Review 80:The hotel is a cozy little place 15 minutes by metro from the center. The staff is fantastic! This was our 3rd time here, we come every year!

Review 115:cody room, lovely place, delicious meal, help boss and all things make your journey fantastic

Review 116:We would have liked to be able to look in English channels on TV.

Review 117:The hotel is only few meters from the metro and the staff is very friendly. The room surprised us. It has recently been repaired and everything was clean and nice. The breakfast was simple, but ok. A market is in the next street. We would definitely stay there again.

Review 118:Not highly affluent neighborhood - dirtier than other arrondissement but very residential area which gives exposure to local living Could Be noisy at very early/late hrs (cars driving)

Review 119:Terrific staff, friendly and warm Amazing n affordable food at bistro downstairs Neighborhood has all amenities, grocery store/bakery/McDonald Metro literally just across hotel - somewhat convenient linlsubway/metro lines.

Review 120:Parking very limited-we were lucky to get a space on the street and did not see any public car parks if we had not found one.

Review 121:Modern and clean room. Friendly and helpful staff. Great access to the Metro, just across the road (good for safety at night too), which takes you to the centre of Paris in around 10 minutes. Managed to get parking in the street - free due to Easter bank holidays. Good value for money for Paris. On the edge of a rough area but we did not feel unsafe on this road.

Review 122:1) out of 9 days at the hotel, 2 without wifi at all, 3 without wifi in rooms (i had to go down to the restaurant or the stairs at night since the restaurant/reception closes)... And during those 9 days not only the wifi if the rooms didnt get fixed also the wifi of the restaurant thus the 2 days entirely without wifi 2) no telephone in rooms to contact reception 3)shampoo are not enough, and we bought a bottle from supermarket so they stopped putting at all 3) the toilets are outside the rooms and tiny, but very close to the rooms

Review 123:1) Nice street, facing metro! 2) Staff is excellent and friendly especially Ammar and Vincent 3) comfortable matresses 4) daily cleaning

Review 124:No Wifi despite being given a code etc. Just couldn't connect as many other guests have indicated. Room smelled of smoking.

Review 125:Not sure why anyone has given this hotel a big thumbs up on here. It's just a small set of rooms above a cafe near to the St Ouen Puces. That's the only reason why you would book this hotel in Paris. Perfectly functional, modern, small rooms with TV and own shower room plus toilet ( we had a room for 3) . Clean rooms and bathrooms, modern decor, pleasant staff - much along the lines of a Formule 1. It's not a hotel to book if you are staying in Paris for leisure reasons other than the Marche aux Puces.

Review 126:- good conditions - modern furniture - the room was cleaned every day - friendly and helpfull stuff - a metro station just near the hotel - safe area
