Reviews for Hotel Memorial
Review 1:Fantastic location, quiet but also right in the centre of town. Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable bed, clean and roomy . Will stay again as it makes a perfect spot to stop over when travelling across France.
Review 2:The room - on ground floor - was not clean and - incredible - just one meter away from the car-park ! This meant, one delivery-van was parking in front of our room-window and door ! Even worse in the morning this delivery van-driver started his diesel-engine, run it for ca. ten minutes and we 'enjoyed' this car exhaust in our room ! And the Hotel's French Breakfast for EUR 9.50 per person ? Coffee ok, but just 'plastic'-packed stuff, old (hard) croissants and baguettes.
Review 3:Hotel is located in the centre of this city
Review 4:The car park was charged as extra even though there is no on street parking.
Review 5:Hotel staff very helpful regarding late arrival and flexible over breakfast.
Review 6:Parking area is very small. The room and the bathroom size is also very small.
Review 7:The location of the hotel is very nice and the lady at reception was very gentil.
Review 8:Room was extremely dated and poorly furnished with a hard wooden floor. There was a lingering smell of pets (dogs). Internet signal was weak and unworkable for our needs
Review 9:Parking in the inner court.
Review 10:Dining room needed a bit of a makeover. Paint and wallpaper coming off the walls. Carpets on stairs rather worn and dirty.
Review 11:Our room was comfortable, the car parking was great. Breakfast was ok. Good location near the town centre. The receptionist was very helpful and pleasant.
Review 12:Very friendly small hotel close to the town centre with a good dinner recommendation. Good French breakfast with extras if wanted, in a stylish setting. Secure car parking in the courtyard and accessible to the motorway.
Review 13:I have mobility challenges; the flight of stairs to our room at the end of a long day was the nearly too hard.
Review 14:Proximity to Cathedral and town square as well as ease for accessing WWI Cemeteries. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful
Review 15:Friendly staff. Lovely old fashioned French breakfas with good coffee, croissants and good baguette. Central location and parking in courtyard so ideal for visiting town centre. Simple clean hotel in lovely building- just what one always used to stay in in France
Review 16:Charming, quiet, spotlessly clean hotel. Staff were kind, attentive and friendly. We had room 103, a modern, large room with a roof top garden. Lounge and breakfast room were charming and homely.
Review 17:Availability of private parking was a key factor in choosing Hotel Memorial, due to having bikes on the back of the car. When booking, we requested parking and were told reservation wasn't necessary. However, on arrival the car park was full and we had to park in the street - bikes had to be removed and stored in the hotel... a lot of hassle that should not have been necessary.
Review 18:In general, a lovely hotel... clean, good location, nice room etc.
Review 19:Lovely hotel for a stop a couple of hours away from Calais. The hotel is only a couple of minutes from the main square with plenty of restaurants and places to sit for a drink. Lovely "double" room which was actually split over two floors with acres of space. Great place to break up your journey to/from the coast. And to top it all the staff were lovely when my son was ill in the room. Can't fault it all - great start to our holiday.
Review 20:Nothing
Review 21:First time travelling abroad with our dog didn't know what to expect as regards pet friendly . Could not have asked for anything better. Expected the worse room in the hotel but was pleasantly surprised . Would definitely stay again on way to south of France
Review 22:The hotel was not accessible until nearly 21.00 hrs due to a local market which is often the case on Mondays. If we were aware of this after a long days traveling we would have booked elsewhere, especially as they new this well in advance but failed to mention this. Completely ruined our evening and last day of our touring holiday. Go elsewhere
Review 23:Cost
Review 24:The showerhead could have been better placed within the shower. The only negative thing that can be said.
Review 25:Quiet but only two minutes from the town centre which was lively. A great place for a stop over on the French North/south route or for a weekend stay. Very good value for money.
Review 26:Convenient location, adequate in all depts. friendly staff. Rooms ok for an overnight stay but not a lot of space. Excellent value for money. Relaxed atmosphere and refreshingly waived charge for extras like coffee in room and parking. Might be hard to locate without sat nav and a bit tight negotiating entrance and car park!
Review 27:This was an amazing place to stay on our journey home to England, so close to the center of town. Our duplex apartment was brilliant for a family of 5 although it was a little warmer than I would like. We were charged for parking which I wasn't expecting, but maybe didn't read the small print. I would recommend this place definitely to families.
Review 28:Fantastic location in the centre of St Quentin, easy to find, close to motorway, only 2 hours from Calais. Parking in private courtyard was very handy. Also - very comfortable beds and spacious, good value for money, would definitely stay here again.
Review 29:There was a just a bath - a shower would have been nice.
Review 30:A spacious duplex apartment - perfect for family of four. Friendly staff, great breakfast, very close to main town square/ restaurants. Overall a perfect stopover for us but would also be a good base for longer stay to explore the local area.
Review 31:Our whole experience was excellent....
Review 32:On arrival we were greeted by a couple of very friendly ladies who welcomed us and took us to our room. Unfortunately we locked ourselves out of our room as we left to find a restaurant to eat in!! The ladies couldn't have been more helpful and rang us when they had sorted the locked door and then proceeded to bring the key to us in the restaurant! Our stay at the Memorial finished with a lovely breakfast the following morning! We would thoroughly recommend this hotel...perfect!!
Review 33:Bed was very hard and had blankets rather than duvets
Review 34:Staff were very helpful. Family duplex apartment was very spacious. Clean and very good value for money.
Review 35:the wi fi code given would not work.
Review 36:it was clean, central location made it great for eating out and seeing the central sights. staff had good English. very helpful and courteous. good parking facilities given the location but the vehicle we were in a transporter type van just made it through the archway into the rear parking area. Clean beds and bathroom with lovely bedding and towels. the fan was a bonus as it was in the mid 30's and very hot.We did not breakfast but the breakfast room looked smart , clean and pleasant. price was very reasonable (but the exchange rate helped)
Review 37:Staircase to upper floors is spiral and difficult to manage luggage up and down. Room was very warm despite free-standing AC unit.
Review 38:Really good breakfast. Good (relatively) central location. Limited on-site parking so important to reserve in advance.
Review 39:The car park entrance is very scary. it is off a narrow street and the entrance is also narrow. Take your time otherwise you could end up leaving part of your car on the wall!
Review 40:Really pleasant room, and the staff could not have been more helpful. We would definitely stay there on our next trip.
Review 41:Old building so stairs a tad steep. No bar
Review 42:Centrally located. Off road parking although no hotel bar but places within a few minutes walk. Lovely french town
Review 43:Location and secure parking although entrance to car park a little narrow if driving a big car. Park fine if few cars - not sure how it would work if full.
Review 44:This was a perfect location for an overnight stop from the channel tunnel. The hotel was packed with character and had secure parking. Near to various bars and restaraunts
Review 45:Nothing!
Review 46:The car park was easy to get into which I hadn't known so went to a public park ! The breakfast coffee was good - rare now in a hotel. Very near town centre so lots of restaurants.
Review 47:No sound insulation between ground floor ceiling and 1st floor floor. Could hear every step and sound from the room above. Luckily they were considerate guests.
Review 48:Location and Parking
Review 49:sheets and blankets on the beds! duvets are more comfortable and easier to manage
Review 50:attractive location and interior, good service and breakfast, very convenient for the city centre
Review 51:No criticisms. Comfortable 1 night stay enroute to Auxerre. Plentiful and tasty breakfast. Greeted warmly and graciously , accommodated our lack of French by graciously communicating in english . Good location to main square, good sized room, clean, comfy, our friends were fortunate to have allocated to them a roof top patio! car park for small fee. We all agreed we would stay here again. Good value for rate we paid.
Review 52:Would be nice to have a standing shower rather than just an attachment on the bath taps. Children would have preferred duvets rather than sheets and blankets.
Review 53:Family suite was great - separate bedroom for the children and a TV area, plus large bathroom
Review 54:The room was a good size and clean. The bathroom was also clean. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the location right near the square made finding dinner easy.
Review 55:We stopped in Saint Quentin on our way back from the slopes. It was great as the drive to calais was only a couple of hours but it was far enough away to feel like you were still in France proper. The staff we met were friendly and accomodating and made recommendations for dinner which did not disappoint. Couldn't have worked out better - although the car park entry is tight in a VW van!
Review 56:Our journey was delayed by several hours so we didn't arrive until after midnight; despite the late hour, the manager was friendly, polite and helpful.
Review 57:Nice hotel ideally situated in quiet street directly behind the main square so only a few steps to bars, restaurants etc. Good parking in hotels courtyard.
Review 58:just a bit hard to find due to the one way road system in the town.
Review 59:bed very comfortable, wifi very fast and reliable, in the town centre close to bars and resturants
Review 60:Very friendly staff, and the room was perfect for our needs. I appreciate that I can park the car literally inches from the door to my room, and the parking lot is well-lit and walled in.
Review 61:Location was ideal as a stopover on the way back from the Alpes and onward journey to the Tunnel. Very close to picturesque town square with lots of good restaurants to choose from. Very impressed and great value for money.
Review 62:Tight entrance to the carpark
Review 63:Friendly staff, closed car park, parking literally outside the room, large room, clean and modern, close to many bars/restaurants. When we left behind a much loved toy, they kept it for us to pick up on the return trip
Review 64:Unfortunately we arrived as the Christmas procession was under way. Could not access the hotel by car for a couple of hours as all the town centre streets were closed off.. Cannot blame the Hotel for this though!
Review 65:Friendly, helpful staff.. gorgeous hotel.. PET friendly.. NO charge for well behaved dogs!
Review 66:Be aware that there is a fairly steep staircase to the upper level of the room and unlocked windows upstairs - not ideal for young children. Wifi reached the room but was very weak.
Review 67:The family rooms are spacious with a large bedroom downstairs and a small sitting area, triple bedroom and large bathroom upstairs. Good wifi in the lobby. They happily put an extra bed in the family room for us.
Review 68:No Wi Fi No tea/ coffee facilities in rooms
Review 69:Great location as a base to explore The Somme. Good breakfast. Good parking. Very friendly welcoming staff.
Review 70:The one way system in Saint Quentin defeated our GPS and it took us nearly an hour to get round to the hotel, but this is not the hotel's fault!
Review 71:Perfect for a stopover when travelling and right next to the main square for food and drink and sightseeing. We arrived during a power outage and in a thunderstorm, but the hotel manager did a fantastic job getting things back to normal, even providing us with ice for drinks in our room without us having to ask! Parking on site is a plus, given the location.
Review 72:Nothing really
Review 73:The hotel is situated very conveniently for the town with its own car park. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Good breakfast
Review 74:Our room was on the ground floor with access through the car park. The only window was the double door; it was impossible to leave this door open during the night because of lack of security a and a scruffy but determined cat which seemed to think it was its room. With the doors closed our duvets were much too hot and uncomfortable.
Review 75:The position of the hotel and the friendly staff.
Review 76:The hotel is an ideal stop off for our journey drive to Spain. Very friendly staff, clean large room and within 3 min walk to the town square - highly recommended and we will use this hotel again.
Review 77:Lovely old fashioned hotel with really nice furnishings in the main hotel. We were travelling with our West Highland Terrier and we were given a ground level room in an annexe with double doors opening on to the courtyard which was marvellous for our dog. Good breakfast, good value for money, good location and safe parking. Recommended.
Review 78:The room was a little tired this also applied to the shower room and toilet and although everything was functional it would be fair to say it had seen better days. If you can put up with a few little niggles you'll have a great stay.
Review 79:The location in the town center and the ease of parking was perfect. All the staff were very helpful and pleasant during our stay.
Review 80:Very friendly staff. Room is large and clean. Very quiet. Big fluffy pillows, plus extra pillows and blankets too. Parking very convenient. Late check out time is a great service.
Review 81:Our room was a bit shabby , the kids room was too far away ( they said it would be very close ) but it was a nicer room
Review 82:Staff friendly and very close to the square
Review 83:Lovely staff and as the Memorial is right in town with its own parking you can walk to the restaurants very easily. The old town square is charming.
Review 84:Being an old building, there was some noise from other rooms and plumbing.
Review 85:Very helpful and pleasant staff. Just a few steps from the centre of the town. On site parking
Review 86:WiFi reception in the top floor rooms seems to be very slow - but it's fine in the Reception area.
Review 87:Great location right in the centre of St Quentin but with easy entry and exit routes. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Parking in the hotel's courtyard (a bit of a challenge with the lack of swing-room off Rue de la Comedie) was excellent and, given the lack of any realistic alternative, worth the parking fee charged per night. If we go again to St Q we will stay here again.
Review 88:Very poky room with narrow window view over the entrance to an underground car park.
Review 89:Had a room available without pre-booking, in a very pleasant riverside location, within easy walking distance of the town centre. Good swimming pool and spa facilities if you wanted them.
Review 90:Excellent location very near to the centre of town. Secure parking at a reasonable charge. The entrance through the archway is a little tight if you have a large car. Everything else was fine, though our room on the ground floor was quite small and basic.
Review 91:Stayed on our way south. Easy to find without satnav. Friendly, helpful staff, comfortable room. In town centre so very convenient location. Own car park. Would use hotel again.
Review 92:It's a simple hotel but we liked everything
Review 93:Charming staff, very good location with parking (you pay a bit extra for the parking, it's worth it) Recommended 2 restaurants in the town square which both seemed good, and where you received a discount.
Review 94:You get what you pay for a pretty standard B&B on terms of facilities
Review 95:Easy to find, parking and very friendly staff Very close to the centre of town so for anyone staying over night perhaps en route to the South of France it was easy to check in, get dinner, and get sleep Breakfast service fast and what we paid for - fruit, bread products coffe etc
Review 96:only thing we were told by booking.com room would have a small terrace but we where in an upstairs room with no terrace
Review 97:Friendly helpful staff, clean comfortable room and excellent central location.
Review 98:Car park difficult to access. Our room was supposed to have wifi but it was only available in communal areas. It smelt of damp.
Review 99:Situated in a lovely town. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good.
Review 100:Pillows were a bit uncomfy, only traditional french ones which I am not used to. And no wifi in the rooms is a shame.
Review 101:Lovely staff, big rooms, and excellent location
Review 102:The long pillows were built into the bedding so you couldn't really move them and they were too soft. The toilet didn't flush.
Review 103:There was plenty of space, the bedding was clean, the furnishings seemed fresh and new.
Review 104:"post code" on your website took us to wrong location a little difficult to find
Review 105:room was large, clean, quiet and good value for money location just off the main square in St Quentin was excellant, though took some finding the centre of St Quentin had a good feel, but was too late and tired to explore or experience further welcome and staff were excellant i would certainly consider staying again on stop over from long journey from the south Calais was easily and quickly reached
Review 106:No complaints, enjoyed our stay immensely......
Review 107:Location, parking (Good value!)... Very helpful staff headed by Irena, who went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our stay at Hotel Memorial... Excellent bedroom with a stylish ensuite bathroom, and an enjoyable breakfast, great to have a proper teapot with an extra pot of hot water for top-up!... (Would be nice to have a kettle in our room)
Review 108:Stopped at St Quentin for short run to Calais the following day. Hotel Memorial convenient for local amenities, off-road parking at rear of the hotel and a garage for motorcycles. Friendly and helpful staff, good continental breakfast and budget friendly price. Will stop there again!
Review 109:Noisy through the night from other residents in other rooms. credit card payment maching broke down, so had to go to a cashpoint to pay for stay.
Review 110:Friendly staff. Central position to city centre. Clean.
Review 111:Not being able to find our way back into the hotel after our meal until another guest came along!
Review 112:The friendly and helpful receptionist and the proximity to the delightful town square where we enjoyed a pleasant wander about and an open air carillion concert during our lovely meal.
Review 113:St Quentin didn't seem to be too interesting, but ok for an overnight stop
Review 114:Good location not far from Channel ports. Private car park. Helpful staff Quiet
Review 115:The rooms I booked on booking.com were both advertised with private balconies, but the receptionist told me there is only one room in the hotel with a balcony - which we didn't get. She told me to include it in the comments next time, but I told her it should be changed on the room descriptions. The rooms we had were extremely hot, even though it had an air conditioning unit - it never really got cool. The bed was quite hard - and the bedding is old fashioned and quite warm as well.
Review 116:Good location, a short walk to the central square with some restaurants. We received two business cards for restaurants which gave us 10% discount at either. Thought this was a nice touch. There is parking on site for a small fee - and there was enough place. Everything was quite clean in the room.
Review 117:we had a lovely room with a massive comfy bed walk out the door and your in middle of town
Review 118:Easy going staff, lovely charming stop over place
Review 119:Great place to stay when you are on your way to Alsace. Brilliantly located within the town. The staff were ever so welcoming.
Review 120:shabby
Review 121:nice and close to the centre, friendly staff
Review 122:no tea making equipment, overgrown rear garden area
Review 123:proximity to centre, pet friendly (we had a dog and a cat!), pleasant staff
