Reviews for Hôtel De La Cloche
Review 1:The hotel stated that it had parking , it didn't .Parking was local but expensive. This is not the first time your web site has done this . Please state if parking is on site and free or available elsewhere at a cost.
Review 2:Room was very cramped and dingy, especially the bathroom and the bed was awful. Room needs total renovation!
Review 3:Had a great evening meal and the restaurant staff were very friendly. The location of the hotel is excellent.
Review 4:Very unfriendly proprietor (would not let us use bathroom 20 minutes after we checked out), very outdated bathroom with flimsy faucets and shower.
Review 5:Location
Review 6:Feels old and dated.
Review 7:Located in a pretty town square opposite the cathedral. Lots of on-street parking at €1 per hour - free in the early afternoon, late evening and night. Easy walking distance to shops, attractions and Avenue du Champagne. WiFi is free and good. Excellent restaurant.
Review 8:The bed wasn't very comfortable and the walls were thin.
Review 9:The restaurant was amazing, food was great and the value was great. Breakfast was also really good. Great location close to the train station and town.
Review 10:Standards seem to have dropped since our last stay, staff not as friendly, room very small. Wanted to check out early this morning but no staff arrived til 8am.
Review 11:Second time we have stayed here, the restaurant is good and the hotel location is excellent, right in centre of Epernay. Room was very small but clean. Wifi was good.
Review 12:Bed was not super comfortable but we had OK sleep. No aircon and room got very hot (+33 outside) and lots of traffic noise when opening windows (it got more quiet after midnight). But not complaining too much as room was so cheap and overall very good value for money :)
Review 13:Location location location! Lots of restaurants and champagne bars just around the corner. Avenue de Champagne 3 minits walk away, also lovely park just next to the hotel. We had room 107 overlooking the lovely church. Room was modern with big lovely windows and looked like it had been renovated recently. We got lucky as we saw some other rooms and they were not as nice as ours. I would say this is more 3 star than 2 star hotel. Sadly we missed hotel dinner, it looked amazing!
Review 14:Bathroom -wallpaper ripped & peeling off.Thick dust around toiletarea, broken toilet basin, mouldy shower, also had a crack tapped up inshower. Bedroom- stain on bed throw, smelly pillows, dirty nets up window.
Review 15:Hotel is within walking distance of champagne route and town.Is next toa beautiful Cathedral.
Review 16:The hotel is quite old, patched up in the shower and old towels/bedding. A bit noisy.
Review 17:Location is excellent for town centre and Avenue de champagne. Restaurant is delicious and great value.
Review 18:Excellent location hotel to tour the Champagne houses. Dated hotel but still good value having stayed before. Evening meal in the restaurant was good using just the 20 euro menu. All staff very pleasant. Car parking across the road.
Review 19:Beds are in need of replacement and rooms have very thin walls and therefore very noisy.
Review 20:The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location and atmoshere of the hotel is great. Food was also good.
Review 21:Bed was hard, shower nozzle broken, which lead to water around the bathroom, and a hole coming in the floor. Lots of noise from outside.
Review 22:Location and old French style of building. Friendly staff and great restaurant. Very reasonable price and would definitely go again,
Review 23:Smelly room and bathroom. When told staff that it smelled as if the previous guest had been smoking they said that "was impossible". And that was it! Very loud music in the evening of the nearby club.
Review 24:No air conditioning. Horrendous traffic noise when window open so did not sleep well.
Review 25:Staff were friendly. Good evening meal menu and quality of meals and service was very good.
Review 26:The walls are really thin and you can hear all your neighbours quite clearly.
Review 27:Room was clean and fairly recently renovated. New laminate flooring and the bathroom was pretty modern. Nice surprise considering how "tired" a lot of the reviews had said the place was. The restaurant is also nice.
Review 28:Our bed was against next doors bathroom wall. The wall was so thin you could hear EVERY sound that was made when they were using the toilet or shower. Hotel is dingey and would benefit from a lot tlc. Wouldn't go back or recommend to anyone.
Review 29:nice and central
Review 30:Fell in love with the charming iron bed in the photo, but our room looked like cesars palace circe 1982. The wifi took a few tried to connect, but finally did. There was no tea kettle in the room, so if you want coffee... 8.50 for breakfast.
Review 31:Location, easy to find parking, and you can't beat the price. The site stated check in was only until 19:00, and we were running late, so called and let them know we wouldn't arrive until 22:00, and they said that was no problem. When most properties in the area are well above 100euros, it's a bargain.
Review 32:The staff were friendly, the hotel was very clean. Yes it could do with redecorating but it's charming and in a great location. We had dinner here and breakfast, both meals were wonderful. The dinner was the exceptionally good!
Review 33:Quaint gorgeous hotel. Comfortable smallish bed. Lovely view from our window right onto the round about, and church. The lovely owner was really helpful. Great breakfast.
Review 34:Booking said car parking included and provided, but it was actually a public car park that we had to pay for (not much but still wasn't included.) Bathroom needed desperate updating, slight mould in shower.
Review 35:Located in centre of Epernay, 5 mins from champagne avenue. It is one of the less expensive options so generally good value for money, however definitely needs some updating. Room ok, bed reasonably comfy.
Review 36:This is a tired hotel desperately in need of renovation Bad, thin towels Hot water was tepid and our complaints were dismissed as "set by regulation" rubbish!!! The first room we were given which had a broken shower bracket and a hard bed. Also the toilet seat was broken and needed replacing.
Review 37:The location was excellent Views from our room were great We liked how they responded to our complaints about first room We were moved to a " better"room Most staff were friendly and helpful Restaurant on ground floor nice
Review 38:The owners allowed guests to take dogs. One such dog was left in the room next door to me and barked for several hours keeping me awake.
Review 39:Hotel was simple and clean in a great location.
Review 40:Sitting in the breakfast room was a bit like sitting in a museum but that is a personal observation. Whilst some of the staff were helpful others were less so.
Review 41:The hotel is very central, close to shops and restaurants. it also has a quirky charm. The bedroom and bathroom were adequate for an overnight stay
Review 42:Nothing, wifi wasnt great but we were not there to go online.
Review 43:Lovely hotel, friendly staff, nicely furnished, great restaurant and fabulous location in centre of epernay walking distance from champagne houses.
Review 44:Only that the wifi didn't reach our room on the first night and didn't work anywhere the second night!
Review 45:Location and price, all other standards of quality etc we're perfectly reasonable for the price paid
Review 46:There were several deliveries right outside our window in the morning from 7am onwards, with the worlds noisiest people operating pallet trucks and seemingly making excess noise for no apparent reason. The decoration is very old as was my mattress, but this is reflected in the price.
Review 47:Have stayed here before and pleased to return once again. the Hotel is dated but very genuine. Its location is 2nd to none, and public parking was right outside our window. The hotel has a restaurant within it which is also very good. Information leaflets available in the room and lovely outlook. Can't wait to go back to Epernay and will stay here again.
Review 48:The water problem in our bathroom needed a bit of attention, swelling in the floor underneath the cork , and rot on the architraves.
Review 49:The location was great, some of the staff were friendly. Meals in the restaurant were fantastic and good value for money. Location was good. Price was good. Had a lovely time staying there.
Review 50:Loud vacuuming in the morning of the rooms above and beside ours. Tiny tiny shower. Even a super skinny person can barely fit in.
Review 51:Location. Very friendly staff. Very nice food in the restaurant. Super convenient to discover the Champagne region.
Review 52:The noise
Review 53:Can't go till sleep till the hotel packs up and everyone is in bed, then there's the noisy teens breaking off car wing mirrors till 3am
Review 54:Located at the square with too loud traffic. Tiny rooms/ really small bathroom, poor comfort. But then again, it is ok for the money - only if you are not a troubled sleeper. No parking.
Review 55:Good value for money, especially in the high season when everything else is booked out (we were there in July). Located in the centre of the town.
Review 56:The wallpaper is peeling. The room smelled strongly of mildew/mustiness.
Review 57:Location is great.
Review 58:staff was cordial and very nice to work with
Review 59:The room not renovated for a long time.
Review 60:Central location
Review 61:If you want window open for air our room was a bit noisy
Review 62:Great spot. Restaurant which served nice food. Good wifi.
Review 63:The room needed a little updating.
Review 64:The hotel had an excellent restaurant. It was well located. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 65:The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food in the restaurant was very good and great value.
Review 66:Excellent restaurant
Review 67:Renovations needed
Review 68:Restaurant, staff
Review 69:Small room, broken floorboards,
Review 70:Great location, lovely looking hotel, friendly staff.
Review 71:No air conditioning,it was melting hot. Everything in the room was old and degraded. Breakfast cost extra.
Review 72:Good location. Pleasant,helpful host.
Review 73:Room very small but ok No tea and coffee making
Review 74:Great location good value
Review 75:the location and very good food
Review 76:There is good parking next to the hotel. Staff were friendly. Very easy place to be.
Review 77:Unfortunately no lift so being disabled struggled with luggage and stairs.
Review 78:Lovely location. Nice airy room.
Review 79:Friendly Staff Perfect location Excellent Value for money Great food well priced in restuarant
Review 80:Our lovely receptionist.
Review 81:Room decor slightly aged Towels were old
Review 82:Location Views
Review 83:Did not allow us to store bags for the day after check out.
Review 84:Right next to the train station.
Review 85:Very cold at night even with extra blanket. No duvet. Just two thin blankets.
Review 86:Quiet room even though it faced road.
Review 87:Great breakfast buffet. Friendly staff.
Review 88:Right in the heart of the town we were welcomed and well looked after.
Review 89:Clean hotel with nice staff in an incredible location. Great value!
Review 90:The staff was very friendly. The restaurant was excellent.
Review 91:Very small shower room.
Review 92:Food excellent - menu du jour tres bon!
Review 93:Our room was a reasonable size and shower etc adequate. Easy walk into town and we had a lovely meal in the restaurant
Review 94:V gd location, friendly staff, delicious food. I should have mentioned the water was a bit cool, perhaps they were having a hot water problem.
Review 95:No Lift or offer to help carry luggage
Review 96:No elevator in the hotel. Difficult to carry heavy suitcases up the stairs. Locks to the room is a bit jammed, it takes a bit of work to open the door.
Review 97:Very close to the train station. Good restaurants close by.
Review 98:Terrible and small bed, dirty carpets, bad smell, wallpaper falling down, bad isolation between the rooms, needs lots of renovations.
Review 99:the location, parking close
Review 100:Showers were very poor meaning an extended stay would not be an option in some rooms. Upgrade the showers and this could be a great spot for a mini break.
Review 101:Excellent dinner at very reasonable fixed price.
Review 102:The room is quite dated but in a nice sense as one often gets in European hotels. The major fault with the room is the size and quality of the plastic enclosed shower which is cramped and claustrophobic. I would get rid of it and generate more space using tiling and a power shower.
Review 103:The restaurant is of a good standard and the terrine, duck (main) and dessert were excellent value when combined with the house wine. The breakfast was adequate. The location opposite the church is a fine location and close to many bars and restaurants.
Review 104:Irrespective of price, no excuse for surly management & staff. Whole hotel smells of food prep for restaurant. Absolutely no effort to speak international language of English - no one is asking for even near fluency, but even the most basic stuff is sadly lacking here, even among the younger members of staff who normally are at half decent standard. Towels in room look like they've been in service for decades. Glazing refurb throughout to help with huge road noise from roundabout outside hotel. Never seen a hotel room with less lighting - in dark winter months this will be a proper problem. Entire hotel badly in need of interior update. Such a shame....
Review 105:Almost perfect location in Epernay is brilliant. Exterior of hotel is picture postcard stuff - very inviting. Didn't eat in their restaurant but was packed with locals always a good sign. Ridiculously cheap, but would rather pay more to avoid......
Review 106:Had to pay for parking. Ample parking but meter appeared to have a limit of 5 hours in the daytime.
Review 107:Very comfortable and clean. Fabulous location within few minutes by foot to Avenue de Champagne. Authentic French atmosphere. Very friendly.
Review 108:We asked if we could change rooms due to the noise. the manager was not very friendly or accommodating. The noise from the roundabout in the morning is quite loud. The hotel shows it age. It could use a little upgrading. Our shower leaked into the room where the bed is
Review 109:Location is great
Review 110:Great little hotel to stay in while passing through Epernay. The rooms were clean and staff were friendly. We ate at the restaurant and the food was great!
Review 111:Room was very small and cramped and overlooking a major roundabout, hence very noisy and hot (no aircon) as we had to keep the windowclosed. No hot water for shower. Whole place needs a good makeover.
Review 112:Ideally located for visiting Moet Et Chandon and central for shopping.
Review 113:Walls are tiny. You can hear every word that is said in the adjacent rooms. Bed too soft, not comfortable.
Review 114:Perfect location, right in the center of Epernay. Nice views to the church from the room.
Review 115:The top floor room was small and had a small window, but the hotel already informed us about this before we booked. Unfortunately there was no ventilation in the bathroom and the quality of the shower curtain was very poor.
Review 116:A perfect hotel if you are looking for nothing more than just a place to stay in Epernay. Very close to the Avenue de Champagne and everything else within walking distance. Price vs. quality was good. Breakfast for 7.50 was ok, but with a limited assortment.
Review 117:It was a bit noisy, but it is in the centre of town so to be expected.
Review 118:Location was perfect, rooms very clean and spacious... Perfect base for a trip to Epernay!
Review 119:In town centre. Within walking distance of pleasant, typically French town as well as the Avenue de Champagne, where many champagne houses are situated. Hotel comfortable - our room had been recently decorated and large bathroom re-fitted (traditional French style!). Hotel restaurant was excellent and staff very pleasant and helpful. Ideal as a base for champagne-tasting and buying. Excellent value for money.
Review 120:Stairs, especially after too much champagne.water never hot hot in shower.
Review 121:The location is good, it's old school French, but good value.parking is free.
Review 122:Typical French Hotel. Loved it. Excellent position. Friendly staff. Relaxing atmosphere. Will go back.
Review 123:Old and not maintained - carpet was old, bed was old (everything worked though)
Review 124:Great location Great staff
Review 125:little bit noisy
Review 126:Street noise.
Review 127:Nice central location, close to Avenue de Champagne. Cosy rooms, restaurant serving local specialities.
