Reviews for Hôtel La Villa Eugene

Review 1:Rooms are nice, but maybe not really up to standard for 5star and the price. We had a shower with water not really warm (even after asking at reception).

Review 2:Friendly staff, good location at start of Avenue de Champagne.

Review 3:The bedroom is quite pretty, very neat, spacious, bed is comfortable. Bathroom is large. The hotel is decorated with very good taste. There's parking space within the property. I totally recommend the place. Not to mention it completely matches the atmosphere of Epernay.

Review 4:We found the walk into the city just a bit further than expected.

Review 5:The room was great and I really liked the patio to the room. The bathtub was awesome.

Review 6:Overflow of the design shower. Would have liked a glass of free Champagne at breakfast.

Review 7:location at one end of Avenue de Champagne and 2 minutes from the amazing Cave Mercier.

Review 8:A somewhat limited breakfast at a solid additional price

Review 9:Very helpful reception staff especially organising dinner at some excellent restaurants. Private outside courtyard part of the package. Not inexpensive but you get what you pay for.

Review 10:Water in the bath/shower was not as hot as it could have been in the evenings.

Review 11:Beautiful old hotel with modern interiors and bathrooms. All staff were very friendly and helpful, made restaurant bookings and assisted with sightseeing. Breakfast was good and staff all spoke English. Bar is small but cosy and served champagne by the glass. Good secure car parking. Close enough to walk into Epernay for dinner each night.

Review 12:Great Location, Staff really lovely and made us feel welcome! Great family feel and really interesting history of place. Great time to come at start of harvest...kids loved the pool!!

Review 13:Breakfast rather expensive if you only want a croissant and coffee and some would find the walk to the town a little long - we didn't.

Review 14:Lovely hotel, very friendly and helpful staff and a nice ambience in general. The room was very good and we enjoyed our stay

Review 15:Nothing to dislike.

Review 16:Quality of the room, friendliness of staff, general ambience of the Hotel, facilities, small but spacious, quiet but close to the town centre. secure car parking.

Review 17:We did think a 5* hotel should provide a kettle (without asking) and tea/coffee making supplies in the bedroom. Kettle WAS provided after asking, but no tea/coffee, so with no shop nearby, we were stuck! Traffic noise in gardens. Naff garden objects. Peculiar ornamental hedgehogs...

Review 18:Beautiful, historic, elegant bedroom and bathroom. Swimming pool. Lovely breakfast room and breakfast. Easy walk down fascinating street to town centre (got a bit longer when hot or tired).

Review 19:this hotel is fabulous, the pool is awesome the rooms are immense we stayed in a Deluxe room and must say it is worth the extra. Breakfast is also fantastic and the location is perfect literally a 2minute walk to all the champagne houses.

Review 20:The only issue we had is that if we were out on our (very nice) terrace, there was a lot of traffic noise. You could escape this by sitting by the pool.

Review 21:Great room. The staff were all excellent and very helpful. The house itself is lovely.

Review 22:I found the breakfast 'stale' in as much as the breads were recycled, as were the cold meats (Continental breakfast)

Review 23:Ideally placed to visit the champagne houses along Rue de Champagne. The hotel was very grand yet personal. The staff were very sweet and very accommodating. The room/bed was very comfortable.

Review 24:Staff member not very knowledgable on what champagne houses were open for tours - gave us wrong information. Also that all ships would be closed from 12-2. And that souvenir shop would not sell anything with epernay on. All wrong information.

Review 25:Bedroom

Review 26:Wifi was poor with a very limited signal. Tea and coffee making should be standard in all rooms. We had to ask for a kettle and cups but nothing else was provided with them.

Review 27:Staff were exceptional. Friendly, helpful etc. Pool and terrace were great. Room and bed very nice and comfortable. A flat, 15 minute walk into town past the champagne houses.

Review 28:Hotel bar was very poorly staffed when we tried to get a pre-dinner drink. Went into town early and had a glass of champagne in a street side bar instead.

Review 29:Luxury in the heart of Champagne country. Lovely hotel and very comfortable room.

Review 30:What a lovely, friendly, beautiful hotel! Nothing was ever a problem, the staff booked restaurants, gave us recommended places to visit, booked taxis. Very, very helpful. We stayed in two rooms; both were comfy and well appointed.

Review 31:The room did not meet the criteria set out or expected. The air conditioning did not work properly. There was no management presence at the hotel to address these issues over the week end period. No restaurant.

Review 32:One of my first stays in a five star hotel and had therefore very high expectations. Don't know what differentiates 4 from 5 stars but this was not better than many of the 4 star places I've stated at before. Of course nice but not exceptional.

Review 33:Helpful and friendly staff, nice pool and pool area. Short walking distance to the champagne places and about 15-20 min walk to town.

Review 34:Breakfast was poorly organized and by the time we were there they were out of eggs. No restaurants in walking distance. Pool small.

Review 35:Good location for seeing Epernay. House charming. Staff very helpful. Beds comfortable and room set up as we requested.

Review 36:All good

Review 37:Air conditioning in room just right for heat wave, swimming pool good and room perfectly situated for dining room and pool, kindness of staff most outstanding

Review 38:- Breakfast was not impressive, products were not fresh and there was not a lot of choices - Hotel is more on the familiar side than the luxury one - Guests are mainly mature people and Epernay does not offer good location for young people

Review 39:- Great location in Epernay, walking distance to the city center and champagne factories - Lovely service - Superior room was big with shower and bath and all amenities - If sunny, the pool is great

Review 40:Cost of breakfast!

Review 41:Great quality hotel with pleasant roo. comfortable bed, fantastic shower and toiletries plus a great breakfast room, although not cheap.

Review 42:The shower leaked and spurted water everywhere. We weren't huge fans of stepping out into a puddle of water both in the bathroom As well as the room itself. The hotel is located at the very end of L'Avenue de Champagne which seems less convenient that ther hotels interspersed among the tasting houses.

Review 43:the hotel itself was beautiful.

Review 44:The young lady who checked us out was a bit unfocused. I went in 5 minutes after checking out to request a small favor. We got a late start and we were not going to make an appointment we had booked. I simply asked if she could make a call to the hotel and let them know we would be late. She said they did not offer that service, Perhaps if I were a guest, and that she needed to attend the other guests in the room. I did get a little bothered. I had just checked out 5 minutes before, and she didn't even remember and made me feel like a beggar. I ended up having to look for a pay phone to make the call and it was quite a hassle. She did apologize, she remembered me and even came out to the car, but by then I guess I was indignant and sent her back in.

Review 45:The breakfast room was beautiful and the landscape impeccable. Everything was elegant.

Review 46:Nothing

Review 47:Our stay was absolutely delightful. All staff were very friendly, professional and helpful. Special mention to Margheriet who was especially helpful when I became unwell. The accomodation was of a very high standard which mad our stay very comfortable from the start. All the little luxuries like our bed being turned down at night with a little note of the next day's weather forecast made us feel special. Location was also ver convenient to Champagne Houses.

Review 48:Only staying one night

Review 49:We stayed at this hotel on the way back from our skiing holiday in Switzerland. The hotel is in a perfect location on the Avenue de Champagne and is within walking distance of all the champagne houses and the town centre. The hotel rooms are beautifully decorated. On this trip we stayed in a standar room on the 3rd floor. We found it to be a beautiful room with an amazing shower. The swimming pool is set in lovely grounds and is a lovely area to sit in when the weather is nice unfortunately it was raining this visit

Review 50:should have a restaurant. For the price, breakfast could be much better.

Review 51:The room. The bed. The bathroom. Staff very helpful and gentle. Gave good advice for visiting vineyards

Review 52:Road noise if window open...no kettle in roomveo we asked for one but we were told we bring the tea or coffee to your room....ok we thought...that's nice....but then they charged us €8 each time for a small pot of tea....it caused an upset at check out and put a downer on what had been a lovely 3 nights

Review 53:Beautiful rooms - 21 and 22 - very comfy beds and beautiful bathrooms...

Review 54:We really could not complain about anything. I would have preferred a softer pillow (minor issue!)

Review 55:From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel very welcome and went to a huge amount of effort to ensure we had a great stay. We were travelling with a baby and the hotel provided a high quality cot bed and changing mat in the room, whilst the breakfast room had two high chairs. Perfect! Our room was amazing and tastefully furnished with a large comfortable bed, clean and spacious bathroom with a roll top bath and fabulous rain shower. We were on the road side of the hotel, however, did not hear a thing. The hotel offers one of the best breakfasts we have experienced in France (extra) and has a really lovely bar for a glass of champers! The hotel is on Avenue de Champagne and only about 10mins from the centre of town.

Review 56:No restaurant at the hotel - and the town of Epernay was a big disappointment. Very scruffy and intimidating.

Review 57:Very nice clean room, friendly staff, and secure parking.

Review 58:Not luxurious Hotel tired and mis-matched style Room not as per Louis XVI style or French colonial as promised Cheap looking decor Courtyard dirty and looking into a cement wall and wire fence Booking was sent to me with a different room image Park area not large or as described and garden tools left out / messy On a main noisy road Nearby champagne 'houses' are offices and not open to public Sun and terrace rooms closed Horrible garden objects Felt more like a city hotel than a country 5 star vila

Review 59:We loved how luxurious this place felt and we were especially pleased with the customer service. Caroline was wonderful and accommodating when ever we needed something. We were both quite sick with the flu while there and she was quick to offer assistance and suggestions that helped our situation. We would most definitely stay there again.

Review 60:Lack of a restaurant is a slight drawback.

Review 61:Room 11 is fantastic at a price, The whole hotel is of very high quality. Breakfast is great value for money in a lovely garden room.

Review 62:It rained!

Review 63:An amazing hotel, we arrived earlier than anticipated and our room was ready, the staff are amazing. Location is perfect really close to. Mercies champagne house, well worth a visit.

Review 64:Our stay was too short.

Review 65:Beautiful room , delicious breakfast , free parking , champagne bar , lovely staff + walking distance to the Champagne houses and town.

Review 66:Lack of restaurant not a problem, but breakfast very simple for price..

Review 67:Peaceful, convenient, and comfortable.. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great location..easy walk into town.. Secure parking a plus..

Review 68:Little to dislike. Creaking floorboards but it's a 10th Century building so that's to be expected.

Review 69:Great location outsidethe town centre but well placed for the champagne houses (especially Mercier - the hotel was the family home). Helpful, friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Review 70:Can't think of anything we didn't like!

Review 71:As we wanted to visit the Mercier Champagne house (next door) this was an obvious choice for us & it was interesting to know the house once belonged to the family. It was about a 15 mins walk down the impressive avenue to the town so I would say a good location. The Hotel was everything we wished for, impressive yet comfortable & the staff were very helpful and accommodating.

Review 72:The hotel does not have a restaurant for lunch or dinner which can be a problem during inclement weather if you do not have a car.

Review 73:The hotel is situated in beautiful grounds and within a reasonable walk of the L'Avenue de Champagne. Our room was spacious and exceptionally well appointed making the stay very comfortable. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable providing us with advice on which of the Houses we should visit and also making good recommendations for local restaurants.

Review 74:My husband and I stayed here as part of our mini-moon and it completely lived up to all our expectations. La Villa Eugene is a stunning house in a beautiful location on Avenue de Champagne. It has both historical (connected to the Mercier family) and contemporary charm (with everything you could possibly need available to you). Our room was absolutely stunning with beautiful furniture, the best stocked mini-bar you could imagine, fresh fruit every day and little touches like weather reports for the following day dropped in every evening. All working here at this family run hotel ensure the welcome is personable and warm. La Villa Eugene is a gem we would highly recommend and definitely re-visit.

Review 75:Air Conditioning not functioning properly, Road noise may prevent some from sleeping well.

Review 76:Great location--within walking distance of several wonderful restaurants, friendly staff, comfortable beds

Review 77:It would have been nice to have had some food available from the bar during the day such as sandwiches or patisserie. Breakfast croissants could have been better

Review 78:Villa comfortable, charming and very attractive with an interesting history The pool and garden were beautiful.

Review 79:This is a small hotel which is more like a private home than a hotel. Our room was large and we had a private terrace. The furniture was elegant but there were modern facilities such as free wi fi. The excellent breakfast was served in a lovely conservatory overlooking the gardens and swimming pool. The staff were helpful and courteous.

Review 80:Smell of urine In toilet Very old shower Mouldy tiles round bath On main road Some very cheap unattractive furniture including MDF wardrobes And bad lighting

Review 81:Comfortable bed Some attractive furniture

Review 82:It rained while we were there so I didn't get to wander about in the beautiful gardens. No complaints about the hotel or staff whatsoever.

Review 83:The staff was exceptional, so nice and helpful. The hotel is beautiful, the room well appointed and the dining room, where you have breakfast was delightful! We felt well cared for.

Review 84:Lovely hotel with nice staff. Location was good especially if you want closeness to champagne houses and access to shops/restaurants. Can easily relax in garden or by the pool.

Review 85:This is a beautiful intimate hotel in a great location. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful and the attention to detail in the hotel is fabulous - wish we could have stayed longer.

Review 86:We had a fabulous 2 nights at the Villa Eugene to meet up with our son and fiancee. The location was brilliant as we could wander up the Avenue de Champagne and visit lots of the smaller Champagne houses and not worry about driving or parking. The Villa is lovely, with superb bedrooms and bathrooms, plus a swimming pool and gardens and the most delightful and obliging staff who speak excellent English and will recommend good restaurants etc.We would certainly return there if we were in the same region again.

Review 87:Nothing, really

Review 88:staff friendliness and availability breakfast +++ good quality facilities are really good in the end we forgot a jacket in the closet and we received an email the day after asking which address to be sent (nothing else requested) We are a young couple and went with older couple and same impression

Review 89:-Lack of air conditioning during hot weather.

Review 90:-Excellent location on Champagne Ave (close to many Champagne Houses and town centre). -Great staff. -Beautiful rooms & décor.

Review 91:Well located on edge of Epernay and easy to find. Short taxi ride to restaurant. Friendly staff. Small pool. Elegant building. A lovely stop-off for a night on the way back from the south.

Review 92:Noisy with traffic in expensive front room Not value for money . Ostentatious without the backup of excellent food or facilities A 'brisk' walk into centre of Epernay or a taxi is required

Review 93:nothing

Review 94:Everything. Lovely hotel with great breakfast, excellent room, free Wi-Fi and most of all incredibly helpful and welcoming staff.. they made our visit really special

Review 95:Not much...

Review 96:Such a beautiful room right on the ave you want to be on to do a bunch of tastings. Add to this the super helpful staff and amazing pool area and you're on to a winner.

Review 97:We had a room on the top floor. Both the bedroom and bathroom were quite spacious for a standard. Though the windows faced the main Ave de Champagne, it was very quiet, wish I appreciate. It is about a 15-20 minute walk to the city center, easy enough to walk, but far enough so you can enjoy a little tranquility during the day and evening if you so desire. The pool, which we made use of, was refreshing with a lovely well tended patio area. The staff were amazingly friendly and so helpful. I only wish we had spent more time there!

Review 98:Why is breakfast in France so expensive? All I want after a large meal the night before is a simple coffee and croissant for a reasonable price. Ville Eugene is no worse than most hotels in this respect but perhaps more than one breakfast option should be available

Review 99:Beautiful rooms, good parking, nice garden and easy to find

Review 100:One of the highlights of our trip to France. Our room was luxurious and spacious, the bathroom was amazing and it was so lovely to lay by the pool or stroll Avenue De Champagne during the day. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Hope to be lucky enough to visit again one day.

Review 101:Wifi was a bit sparse, but not a huge problem for us.

Review 102:Beautiful old house in a wonderful location, just a few minutes walk to Mercier and the other Champagne houses. Staff were all friendly and helpful. It was easy to find with god parking. Our room was on the top floor in the eves, but plenty of space and full of character. Bathroom was clean and modern, with nice toiletries. Breakfast was good and if it hadn't rained we would have sat outside by the pool overlooking the pretty garden. .

Review 103:Excellent hotel situated within easy walking distance to Champagne houses and restaurants. Pool is slightly heated so is not cold to get into. Would definitely stay there again, and recommend it to others.

Review 104:The staff is VERY friendly, the location is excellent, and the bar mopen till any time is very special. Great champagne list as well!!

Review 105:Fantastic location. Gorgeous rooms.

Review 106:Super friendly and helpful staff.

Review 107:Lovely boutique hotel which is well placed for the champagne houses and only a short walk into town for a meal.

Review 108:Fantastic room. Great location. Quiet even though on road.

Review 109:Very attentive and helpful staff. Helped me to organize some birthday surprises for my friend. We spent wonderful weekend there. Thanks!

Review 110:Staff were few in number but exceptionally professional and helpful. Home-produced yogurt with breakfast was superb.

Review 111:Price is expensive

Review 112:Great ambience

Review 113:i have no complaints

Review 114:The hotel was beautiful & the staff really looked after me. I will definitely come back again

Review 115:Bathroom - Shower constantly leaking soaking the bathroom floor.

Review 116:Location - for getting to all the champagne Houses.

Review 117:Attention to detail could have been better.

Review 118:Beautiful building, swish bar, comfy beds.

Review 119:Location, friendly staff, large rooms

Review 120:Luxurious, very nice small hotel, in where they made you feel welcomed.

Review 121:The shower was a bit weak.

Review 122:The staffs were kind and friendly. The room was very chic and cozy. The location was close to major champagne maisons.

Review 123:The perfect stay in Champagne!
