Reviews for Brit Hotel St-Quentin/Nord

Review 1:Nothing. You gets what you pays for. It's clean and comfortable but basic and not in its first flush of youth. Nor would it win any awards for architechtural excellence but for the price, who's complaining ?

Review 2:Price, quiet location

Review 3:Would be nice if they had a bar or if there was a restaurant within walking distance. We ate on the ferry and took some wine so we were fine.

Review 4:Stayed for one night to break up drive to the alps. Absolutely fine hotel for this purpose, close to motorway and ran by a nice french couple. Secure parking was a bonus with a loaded car!

Review 5:Hotel is tired looking and in requirement of refurbishment. Feltdepressing, probably won't stay here again.

Review 6:Local amenities were useful. Good location off autoroute, secureparking.

Review 7:the hotels location wasn't pleasant, the stair well leading up to our floor was very worn out and there was black mold on the walls. The hotel felt tired and worn out and the shower was very cramped

Review 8:the room was fine and clean, if a little small. The lady at reception was helpful and pleasant.

Review 9:Last night I've stayed at this hotel and it is being a terrible experience: 1. The room, after leaving the window closed for 3 hours while we went for dinner, smell of smoke, even if it was a no smoking room. Because of the hour it was to late to change it. 2. Many yogurts at the breakfast were off. 3. The fruit was too old to be eaten. When we mentioned all of it, the only thing they offered ( after a bit of arguing) was to reimburse just the 5.80€ of the breakfast. But surprise: they cancelled our stay. In this way they don't have to pay your share. Plus I can't say how actually bed is their service.

Review 10:there was a roof over our head

Review 11:Wifi, price, kindness of the owners. It's a true 2 stars, no more no less and the price is related to this category. Very good for a single night. Closed to the motorway.

Review 12:The hotel is a little older and it shows in places with tired decoration in places

Review 13:The staff were friendly, plenty of parking and good buffet breakfast

Review 14:The staff forgot to put our reservation on the automatic overnight system so had trouble getting into hotel. Needed manual intervention by staff.

Review 15:Very convenient to autoroute with places to eat and cheap fuel nearby. Would use again

Review 16:No adverse comments because the decor doesn't distract us from the hotel, which we will use again and again for our overnight stops when we are travelling south, plus if we decide to stay locally for a couple of nights.

Review 17:This is an extremely inexpensive hotel, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Do not look at the tiredness of the decor in the stairwells and hallwalys because the bed was extremely comfortable and adequate in size for an overnight stop or short stay. The continental breakfast was very good value for money.

Review 18:rooms too cramped, everything needed updating & redecorating

Review 19:location, security for cars at night staff very friendly, bathrooms & bedding very clean

Review 20:As above, lack of an elevator gave us a problem getting luggage upstairs.

Review 21:Staff were very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was very good. We were happy with our stay apart from lack of an elevator.

Review 22:The toilet hadn't been cleaned properly. Urine stains on the toilet seat. Didn't bother me though; quick wipe, done. Bed cover sheet looked tired. Bit out of the way of town centre.

Review 23:Very friendly staff that allow an informal atmosphere. Let me park my bicycle inside the building overnight. Vending machines for snacks and drinks. Easy accessibility by car and when coming from north of St. Quentin. Clean and modern shower and sink. Quiet and spacious room. Clean bed, woolen blanket and sheets. Good TV. Building set in a warehouse district. Ample car parking. Good value for money.

Review 24:Probably due for a make over and hope they choose a different colourscheme next time!

Review 25:Very convenient to motorway to and from Calais. Right next to excellentsupermarket for stocking up on the way home. Friendly, helpful couplerunning the hotel who dispelled the feeling one sometimes gets insimilar budget chains. Value for money and good breakfast. Not the Ritz, but what do you expect for 45 euros for a double room?

Review 26:Cigarette burn marks on curtain (no smoking room!) No TV - the "system" had gone down that morning, a Sunday. No plug in sink. The room could do with a good clean/refurbishment.

Review 27:Quiet location.

Review 28:Cramped rooms in need of redecoration. No restaurant. No coffee/tea maker in the room.

Review 29:Very welcoming staff. Quiet. Conveniently situated stopover.

Review 30:It's located on a retail park so there is nothing open close to the hotel in the evening.

Review 31:The hotel is minutes off the motorway so is ideal for a stop over is driving South from Calais.

Review 32:none

Review 33:We arrived late, check in was a little bit awkward but I was tired and it may of been me, the site is gated so thought the car would be safe (it was), shower was fine, thin walls but up at 8 and on the road again

Review 34:All good no complaints

Review 35:The friendly & helpful staff. Eric was particularly good. Convenient for restaurants & supermarket. Not too far from Calais for overnight stop en route south. Rooms are very basic but clean & fine for one night stay. Great value for money.

Review 36:Automatic booking in (personal thing, I realise that these budget hotels have to do it).

Review 37:Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room. Excellent value for money, with several restaurant chains nearby.

Review 38:Reception lady wasn't exactly welcoming Room had a single small window which was overlooked Decor was tatty Bedspread looked dirty

Review 39:Breakfast was OK

Review 40:Despite 'no smoking' restriction the room had clearly been heavily used by smokers.

Review 41:Its location very close to the Centre Commercial was ideal for a quick visit to Auchan before catching the Shuttle at Calais.

Review 42:Beds a bit too low for my husband to get out of, but otherwise fine. Shower a bit small.

Review 43:Very friendly and helpful staff. Easy access to the motorway and to supermarket.

Review 44:shower flooded floor, staircase needed a good clean and replacement carpet

Review 45:location

Review 46:The bathroom was in a bad state, it really needed renovation.

Review 47:Beds could be more comfortable.

Review 48:Not a bad location, easy to get to centre. Centre was lovely. Receptionist friendly and helpful.

Review 51:Friendly staff

Review 52:old and dated rooms, poor cleanliness.

Review 53:Noise from other bedrooms. Heating basic

Review 54:Secure parking, good value

Review 55:More a hostel than a hotel

Review 56:On the edge of the city, easy access to the motorway.

Review 57:Very basic, but excellent value for money to stay over a night on my way to southern europe

Review 58:Helpful friendly staff.good location.easy parking food available close by, would recommend to other solo travellers, for a quick overnight stop.

Review 80:The stairs to the bedrooms could do with a referbish

Review 81:The management were very helpful and friendly

Review 82:Food outlets available nearby

Review 83:Very friendly and clean place, close to the highway. For overnight stay ideal.

Review 84:Bathroom very small, loo seat broken, edge of shower unit rusty

Review 85:Cheap with an adjoining room for our children. Close to large shopping centre where we were able to buy food for the evening.

Review 86:The location is in the middle of nowhere, the hotel looks like an old office building for a factory.

Review 87:The staff was really nice and helpful.

Review 88:Small rooms, rather cramped.

Review 89:Closeness to AutoRoute.

Review 90:Tiny shower Mould in the bedroom Dirty communal areas

Review 91:Helpful staff Decent breakfast

Review 92:Tired and tatty, very small shower.

Review 93:Close to motorway and clean.

Review 94:Tatty, broken fascia that holds electrics, tiny shower, loo too close to wall.

Review 95:Just off motorway and clean.

Review 96:Convenience, next to autoroute. Good clean accomodation, reasonable breakfast for the price, all in all a good value hotel.

Review 97:Shower a bit on the small side.

Review 98:Easy on and off motorway. Staff really very helpful and friendly.

Review 99:Very small room. Shower tiny.

Review 100:Location was very good. Close to shops and cheap petrol station.

Review 101:Convenient position

Review 102:Room rather small.

Review 103:Very friendly staff, excellent breakfast (included).

Review 104:Just about everything else ! TINY room.

Review 105:Handy for motorway

Review 106:stayed at many balladins over the years but this one is definitely looking ' tired'..

Review 107:great staff -good position -

Review 108:Good staff Good twin rooms Good parking

Review 109:Room very small for two. Whole hotel gives grubby appearance and in need of redecoration. Shower cubicle tiny.

Review 110:Linen was clean.

Review 111:hotel was bit tired

Review 112:en suite at a fair price staff were friendly bed comfy wifi strong

Review 113:Very tired and run down hotel. Untidy in reception and smelt musty and damp leading to room on first floor. Room had mould on the ceiling and bathroom and light switch next to bed was hanging off. Bed cover did not look freshly laundered and in the daylight the bedclothes had seen better days! Having stayed at Balladins Reims we were more than disappointed with the standard of this hotel. Not sure that we would use this chain again.

Review 114:Location

Review 115:We were on the 3rd floor with no lift.you could hear the people in the next room talking, there was mould on the ceiling, the whole place needed an update and was dirty. A very unpleasant experience.

Review 116:Secure parking. The crocodile buffet restuarant very good food very good value about half a mile away on the same industrial estate the best bit of our stay.

Review 117:quite hard to find with sat nav - buried in commercial estate.

Review 118:really good breakfast. Able to check in any pay at the door at any time, staff friendly.

Review 119:One of the rooms smelled of cigarettes.

Review 120:Arrived late when reception closed but the owner was still onsite & checked us in using the automated machine in the lobby.

Review 121:Couldn't access the room, had to connect with an operator three times in order to access the room as the door lock system was faulty. Not nice at 1am!!!!!

Review 122:This is, sadly, a fairly grubby and not very pleasant hotel. The standard of maintenance is very poor indeed. The shower head fixing to the wall was broken. Ostensibly a non-smoking room, it reeked of smoke, with cigarette holes burnt through the (dirty) bedcover. This is our first and definitely last visit to Balladins!

Review 123:Very friendly receptionist who showed us to our room and demonstrated the amazingly comprehensive TV (the usual French/European/America channels, but also Arabic & Cuban ones etc!!)

Review 124:Automated check in machine after 10pm, didn't accept name or credita card. Would only work with booking reference. wi-fi not working.

Review 125:Good loakation form stopover. Not far off motorway. very basic, but ok for money. Basic but clean and comfortable.

Review 126:some people have smoked in some of the rooms which can be a bit annoying as the smell can be quite strong when you first enter.

Review 127:overall a handy place to stay as it is right by the motorway. always value for money.

Review 128:The smell in the room was awful. The only place to eat in the vicinity is Auchan food court.

Review 129:You get what you pay for. Quite nice and inexpensive hotel. Good for an overnight stay if you have a car, but hardly for a longer stay.

Review 130:The smelly room. Supposed to be a non-smoker but it stank of stale tobacco. No lid on the toilet seat. Tiny shower compartment. Damp patches in the room.

Review 131:The breakfast. Handy for the Autoroute. Free Wifi

Review 132:Nothing to dislike.

Review 133:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The cost of the stay which included a good breakfast was very reasonable. It was a very convenient stop over on our journey to the Alps.
