Reviews for First Hotel Millennium
Review 1:The 'Superior double' room we paid for was two singles shunted together and we were emailed in advance with a promise of a Nespresso machine in the room but not only did not has that, didn't even have English Breakfast tea two out of three days!
Review 2:Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location and an excellent breakfast!
Review 3:Had to change the room because toilet flush did not work in the first one. Did not have a mini bar- very strange It was a bit cold in the room, could not change the temperature
Review 4:staff was very kind. Location is the biggest advantage! In the very center! Breakfast was excellent!
Review 5:Downtown location. Excellent buffet breakfast. Small rooms, but that was not an inconvenience. Heated towel rail handy for drying clothes in Winter. Short walk to Oslo Central Station.
Review 6:We got the impression that the bedroom was separate from the living room, but it wasn't in the Jnr Suite. There wasn't a kettle but there were tea/coffee provisions.
Review 7:Location was good. Breakfast was awesome.
Review 8:This hotel is quite run down and in need of refurbishment e.g. cracked wash basin, dirty carpets, paint missing. Also, the staff, although pleasant, didn't do things they said they would e.g. make up the sofa bed which we needed to do ourselves, late at night.
Review 9:The rooms are clean but a bit outdated especially the bathroom.
Review 10:Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is located in a convienient area in the city with shops and public transport nearby and the trainstation a short walk away. The room was of a good size with ample desk space to put my laptop on and still have space for papers and a cup of tea.
Review 11:We could have done with a few more English tea bags.
Review 12:The staff and the Italian restaurant. Clean cosy room, underfloor heating in the bathroom. The location.
Review 13:The room was extremely clean but the shower in the bathroom could do with an upgrade, everything needs to be just so to get good water pressure due to a damaged hose....
Review 14:Everyone was friendly and very helpful. Very central,it's a short walk to everything in the city centre. Breakfast was really tasty with a big selection
Review 15:No email to inform us of the change in the hotel.
Review 16:We arrived at 23.30hrs to be told our room was not available, but they had arranged a room in a superior hotel a short walk away.
Review 17:Compact dining area for breakfast. Road under constructions nearby the hotel, but it didn't bother at all. I could easily hear elevators' movement at my room. The superficies of the hotel was too far away from what I had imagined
Review 18:Very helpful staff on reception. Location was so close to the center.
Review 19:No view from the room and breakfast at weekends only started at 8am. Usually this is fine but if you have an early connection the breakfast bag they gave us does not make up for the proper pre-paid version.
Review 20:Quick check in and they organised a small breakfast pack to take away for us.
Review 21:Just a shame they failed to supply pre packed breakfast ,that was ordered as I had a early start when leaving . Was offered breakfast facility but had train to catch. Not enough time.
Review 22:Very helpful staff on reception
Review 23:The disappointment was the small dining area for breakfast. It was a bit compact. And the bed were twins put together as a double which kept separating. But I wasn't expecting 5 star hotel for money per night paid.
Review 24:The hotel provided us with an excellent base for exploring Oslo. The hotel was clean, all staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was an interesting selection of food catering for all tastes. The hotel foyer was very trendy and inviting.
Review 25:If you're driving it's difficult to find parking. There is only street parking that is limited to 2 hours. We were fortunate to arrive on Saturday and only had to cover 3 hours. Parking was free after 3PM until Monday morning at 9.
Review 26:Location was very convenient to the main attractions in old town such as the harbor, fortress, cathedral and royal palace.
Review 27:Road under constructions nearby the hotel, but it didn't bother us at all.
Review 28:Staffs were friendly, polite and helpful. Location is perfect, near to shops, train station and tourist spots.
Review 29:Terrible condition of the room (junior suite) we reserved. Very old looking. The bathroom door did not have a a lock. The bathroom drainage was not working. We had to take a break after each family member (total of 5) taking a shower so the room wouldn't get flooded either. The charge was around $333/night, but the quality of the room was similar to a cheap hostel. The front desk staff told me to email those pictures and the video I took of the bathroom condition to the administration for a refund of my stay. I never heard back from anyone.
Review 30:Location. The front desk staff was helpful
Review 31:They are understaffed and the breakfast is very crowded. Reception took a long time, just one person working. There were always dirty laundry bags from the maid staff in the hallways, mold in the caulking in the bathroom and the hallway carpets weren't vacuumed enough.
Review 32:We stayed in a suite, so the room was a decent size for 4 people.
Review 33:Considering the cost of hotels in Oslo, the value was excellent. The room was just what we needed. Clean with a great shower, refrigerator, and excellent beds. Imagine, only a block from famous Carl Johansgate. What's not to like?
Review 34:The wooden floors in our room were very grubby and dusty e.g. when we moved the chair away from the desk there was a line across the floor and dust was balled up in recesses beside the fridge, along skirting boards and underneath the curtains. The chambermaid very obligingly re hoovered it for us immediately. Communal areas like corridors and areas outside lifts were really dirty and in need of cleaning. We stayed 4 days and they were done on the 4th day. Front desk Staff not always very obliging or approachable. Breakfast was like a jumble sale but the food was good
Review 35:This hotel is really well located for the centre of town, the harbours and most of the major attractions in town There are several really excellent restaurants, bars and cafes in the vicinity and a little supermarket immediately across the road
Review 36:Not free parking, $40-50/day at closest lot.
Review 37:Delicious breakfast choices. Large room for five. Close to all the sites and restaurants. We walked to museums, palace, malls, and Akershus. Friendly and courteous staff. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, lots of storage room, even with extra bed.
Review 38:The room needs AirCondition (or at least ventilation system that gives air). The bathroom needs maintenance (the douche tube was broken). Dust under the bed. The heavy traffic repair noise during evening/ night. The windows that was difficult to position (metal and wood were broken). No parking within 100 m (need a public parking +500m away, costs +25 Euro/day. Booking.com offer in EUR was EXCL VAT, where NOK incl VAT (confusing when on business travel, gave problems for the accountant).
Review 39:The central position; close to city centre and train station. The welcoming staff (all). The great breakfast (nice variety). Free coffee/ tea at the room. plenty of electric plugs in the room. Flat-screen TV and big table for work in the room. Fast and steady WIFI (on 2nd floor).
Review 40:Room poorly maintained, not clean, had to ask for towels. Desk said there was business conference in Oslo, which gave hotel opportunity to charge nearly five times its normal room rates. Given the poor accommodations, this rip-off made the rates criminally high. Booking.com should not list this place.
Review 41:Location OK
Review 42:When we checked in the hotel was fully booked and they sent us to another hotel, despite us having booked months before and had double checked it. They then made us switch hotels a few days into our stay. Cleanliness not good and lots broken.
Review 43:Breakfast spread was good, bed very comfy and good location in centre of town.
Review 44:Refrigerator not very cold.
Review 45:Great room, complimentary breakfast buffet, in room tea/coffee, heated bathroom floor, complimentary wi fi, in room refrigerator. Great location- walkable to many tourist sites.
Review 46:No help for the luggages, rooms too small, and the upgrading did'nt give any advantage of size or comfort
Review 47:The location in the center, the breakfasts,
Review 48:Was a group of noisy residents in a room but staff were good and spoke to them
Review 49:Good location, nice staff and great breakfast. Everything in Norway expensive but this reasonable especially taking into account breakfast.
Review 50:Bathroom not well cleaned on arrival. Windows need net curtains as people in hotel opposite can see straight into your room and vice versa. Room fine for one person but think too small for two
Review 51:Great Breakfast And Friendly Staff. Great location
Review 52:We stayed here twice in a week. First time we had a junior suite (not that we knew that till our second visit) and a must smaller, regular room on our second time round - both for the same price. Maybe we got an upgrade without us knowing. Made our second visit a little disappointing as regular room is quite small with limited space for two suitcases. Though that's not unusual for most European hotels. :-)
Review 53:Friendly and helpful staff
Review 54:rrnovation restaurant which meant going to another hotel - but that can't be helped. Not a complaint.
Review 55:entral location - comfortable, clean with helpful staff
Review 56:We couldn't find the hotel it initially as we were driving and there are lots of one way streets in town. but after that,, the location was so central..
Review 57:I liked the location, the breakfast, the supermarket across the road and the tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Friendly staff, good wifi, great writing desk, bed and duvets, lift, nice reception area with seats and water supplied.
Review 58:The room was not ready on time (but was only 20 minutes late in the end) Not enough cups etc for the number of people staying in the room.
Review 59:The breakfast is amazing and the location is perfect for exploring the city. The beds were comfortable
Review 60:Slightly "worn down" room, bathroom in particular. In the bedroom one of the mouldings in the ceiling above the window wasnt properly attached and was hanging slightly down.
Review 61:Desk staff weren't all that interested in helping a middle aged woman. Also needed change for the bus and was told they had none. Money was offered by fellow customer.
Review 62:It was near where I needed to be. Bus & tram close by to get into centre of Dublin. comfortable quiet room. Breakfast was good. Coffee plentiful but not very hot.
Review 63:One of the more disappointing hotels I have stayed in for sometime
Review 64:Not much at all, hotel badly in need of an update, stayed in the Junior Suite and it was very disappointing
Review 65:- Cleanliness of floor, bedlinen, duvet - Air quality was bad in wintertime. Hard to pinpoint the culprit. Could be anything from ventilation, allergens from previous use of the room, or even the bedlinen's lack of cleanliness.
Review 66:- Staff was pleasant. - Excellent location, central - Breakfast was decent, and ok variety. But typical hotel breakfast. - Good elevators (two), good stairs - Quick taxi response and ordering process
Review 67:Not a big problem, but I the receptionist charged my credit card before I managed to tell that I was going to pay in cash. In result I have 2000 NOK left and had to pay a bank commission for EUR->NOK currency exchange.
Review 68:The hotel has a good location in Oslo, the Central station is close, subway station is nearby, many restaurants are around. The offered breakfast is good.
Review 69:that the bath tub didnt have a plug,so whats the point to have a bath tub for,i had to hold my heel over the bathtub hole to fill bath tub up with the water.actually i chose the hotel nly because it had a good price and that it had a bathtub
Review 70:I liked that i had an access to the balcony, that my roo where i stayed was clean, warm, cozy, silent.I loved that there was a bath tub in the bathroom.
Review 71:Bathroom was dated; showing lots of wear and tear.
Review 72:Receptionist was an expert expectation manager and exceeder. Bed was extraordinary, almost better than the one I have at home. Roof terrace was very nice.
Review 73:Took 1/2 hour to check in, because their credit card machine wasn't working Got to my room, it was someone else's room from earlier that day. Not made-up, rubbish everywhere. Argh!
Review 74:Breakfast
Review 75:Room - junior suite. One room with a sofa bed. Single sheets on double sofa bed. Light switch fallen off. Not all the lights worked. Tea and coffee in the room provided but with paper cups. Bathroom had no fan/ventilation. Noisy, street noise and people banging on the door of the room at 2 am. Room service did not include making the beds and was late in the afternoon. Reception staff friendly but insisted I had to pay with the card that I had used on booking despite the fact I had cash. As I only discovered this on departure I have had to return to UK with thousands of Norwegian Krone.
Review 76:Location - central. Close to shops and restaurants. Walking distance to museums, opera house, palace, parliament. Free wifi Breakfast
Review 77:Poor quality room & bathroom Very little in terms of quality and quantity re soap, shampoo etc No air con
Review 78:Bot a lot Restaurant food was good - but th restaurant itself was of poor quality
Review 79:The restaurant capacity is a little small in consideration with the amount of people staying in the hotel.
Review 80:The location of the hotel was very convenient. We could easily reach the hotel from the central train station and the touristic spots from the hotel. There was also a supermarket right across from the hotel which was an advantage. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.
Review 81:I did not like that aren't parking place, and I didn't like the way they clean the bathroom,
Review 82:I like the locationwhich is in the center, I liked the spatious room, I liked the nice helpful reception empluyee, I liked thier nice breakfast, and the free wifi
Review 83:Take a three minute shower and the drain in bathroom would back up and flood the floor. They said they fixed it but them a four min tire shower did the same
Review 84:Food was good
Review 85:The hotel is rated 4 stars and has reasonable assessment of previous guests on the website Booking.com, and its price is similar to Sheraton (5 star) in Stockholm. However, our stay there turned into a nightmare. We booked the best room, the Junior Suite, and the shower and the fridge was broken, there is nothing being done to fix it. The room was extremely hot and no air conditioning and the windows (tilting type) are very small. There were spiders walking on the walls. Provided only one soap for 3 guests. Are not provided shower cap and plug adapters. The third bed (arming) is uncomfortable. No use complaining because nothing is done. The reception clerck said we could have a compensation for the problems, but nothing was offered or received. On the day of departure I had a conversation with Mr. Johan Appelgren, he said he would contact later, but he did not do it since then.........
Review 86:The only positive point is the room size.
Review 87:Getting breakfast was sometimes a challenge. Not enough tables during peak times. Zero "table management" by restaurant staff. Had sometimes to clean table by ourselves to find a place to sit and eat.
Review 88:Good value for your money. Good location.
Review 89:Situated in a 'Red Light' district, I was accosted by Prostitutes and my wife intimidated by 'Kerb crawlers'. The 1st room provided was dirty, unswept floor, stained and dirty wardrobes. Unbearably hot and No AC. Opening windows only allowed in noise from Fans located on the roof. No sleep on the first night. The GM admitted it was most unsatisfactory and moved us to a 2nd room. He said an upgrade - I saw only a larger room with defective plumbing in the shower and sink which required me to arrange repair. Not even checked prior to us moving room! The restaurant chairs were heavily stained with foodstuffs and it was difficult to find one to sit on. Some were broken. Firstly the GM and then the Company hierarchy were dismissive of all issues. I suggested that the problems were obvious to daily staff or they had serious training issues. Bizarrely, I was offered a reduction in cost should I wish to return on a future date! Total price was NOK3,231. I was offered 500 and following further dispute received NOK1,000 - not even one nights cost for a dirty room and no sleep. Total failure by them to provide what was offered and provided rooms 'Not fit for purpose'.
Review 90:our first room on the sixth floor was not vacuumed or swept and there were no bottles of shampoo or body wash. The return visit on the fifth floor, same room number, was cleaner and more well supplied. Rooms apt to be warm and stuffy but we opened the windows to cool things off. Guess hotels in Norway are not air conditioned.
Review 91:The staff was outstanding, helpful in many ways with extra attention. The breakfast buffet was bountiful and delicious, and seeing the prices of food in the markets, an excellent value with the room rate. Hotel was quiet and beds were comfortable. Very happy with the hotel.
Review 92:Finding a parking spot near the hotel is not easy. The hotel is rather old.
Review 93:Top location. Friendly front-desk staff.
Review 94:Very good wifi , flexible about late breakfast
Review 95:Walls too thin. we had 'Unpleasant nocturnal noises' from next rooms difficult to explain to young children.
Review 96:Breakfast and coffee/tea in the room High quality baby crib with a real mattress (seldom in hotels)
Review 97:The pillows were not good.
Review 98:The staff and location were great to and for us.
Review 99:Room seemed a bit small for a superior double as we had a baby cot and push chair.
Review 100:Very Friendly and helpful staff and great breakfast.
Review 101:Dripping facet in the bath, noisy airco, temperature in the room was rather low, small blankets.
Review 102:Perfect location, clean room.
Review 103:Packed breakfast
Review 104:Good location and nice staff
Review 105:the isolation of the rooms was poor
Review 106:Vitun magee
Review 107:nice reception staff, good breakfast, good value for location compared to similar hotels
Review 108:Everything was awesome for me in this hotel, in particular, the breakfast. :)
Review 109:No Double Bed but 2 singles pushed together. The bathrooms could do with been upgraded.
Review 110:Quite Area Good Location
Review 111:there was no electric pot for tea and I felt a bit cold when I sleep.
Review 112:Location. Very close to shopping street. Breakfast was nice.
Review 113:Everything
Review 114:Friendly service
Review 115:Cut my foot on the ledge into the bathroom which was in disrepair and had large splinters sticking out.
Review 116:Location perfect
Review 117:Friendly staff
Review 118:The breakfast area needs to be re-organised. There was a bottle neck at the entrance.
Review 119:Man on reception let us check in an hour early.
Review 120:It took a long time to check in
Review 121:Almost close to train station and main attractions
Review 122:bed, breakfast
Review 123:location
Review 124:This is not **** hotel :) Last week I was in Kaliningrad hotel Heliopark- this is **** hotel!
Review 125:This is not **** hotel :)
Review 126:Wifi was weak service to room was poor did not check tissues or coffee and tea
Review 127:Good location. Decent breakfast
Review 128:Noise at night from the street
Review 129:Style room doors in corner rooms can clash as they open out
Review 130:Very compact but comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly
Review 131:Breakfast was busy. Not enough room. Our room wasn't particularly clean. In need of renovation.
