Reviews for Le Chalet du Mont Vallon Spa Resort
Review 1:We've chosen this 4 star hotel mostly because of the good rating on the booking.com. However, from our experience we could say that this hotel is undoubtedly overrated, and max rate that could be granted to this hotel is 3 stars( they need to work more if the want to be regognazied as 4). Major disadvantages: 1) abscebce of wifi. We are living in 21st century and of course being in touch via Skype/Facebook/e-mail and having internet for the urgent work stuff is essential. The hotel's management (we've spoken with the Lady) actually did nothing to improve it and hasn't provide any solution. The only answer to our question was that she is not a technician and tecnichian will check. I believe that this is ridiculous since all the hotels situated nearby have the great wifi speed. 2) ski room without proper heaters. We tried our best and asked on why our boots are wet in the morning and why the heaters do not work- but no answer received. The only way to dry your boots after skiing was to take them directly to the room and try to put the on the heaters that are actually also working badly. Believe that this is unacceptable situation for a hotel positioninh itself as a 4 star hotel. 3) poor breakfasts, that are usually not included in the room rate. Breakfast cost -19 eur/person. Of course, You have a great choice - bread, yesterday's croissant ( if you don't ask for a fresh one), cold eggs, cold chocolate, only 1 type of cheese (thought that in France there could be at least couple of different types), cornflakes. The hotel need to improve their breakfast buffet, otherwise I assume less and less people would go there. Overall, the impression about the hotel is very negative and we would not recommend it for friends/ relatives. We paid lots of money for a big room, with kitchen, but the price/quality ratio is worse than bad.
Review 2:People working on reception are friendly and ready to help, but overall management behavoiur is below the average.
Review 3:We chose this hotel because it had a small kitchen facility in the room. Disappointed to find out on arrival that they wanted an extra 45 Euros per day for us to use the kitchen and that they provided no cutlery bar two teaspoons, and no crockery bar four glasses and two mugs.
Review 4:Excellent location, with ski in and out. Pool, sauna and steam room were a big hit with the children - used every day.
Review 5:Wireless internet is pre-historic. Seriously if you want to 'get away from it all' go here. This place is all about the nickels and the dimes. Food very expensive for what is offered. Same Thing For Breakfast Every Day. Be careful that you do not use kitchen facility in your room or risk big charges. Rooms are not comfortable, almost claustrophobic.
Review 6:Ski In, Ski Out was very convenient. Most of the staff was decent, standout was Emma the waitress in the restaurant. The General Manager seems to be very hard-working, but I am not sure if the staff are actually under some form of bondage or servitude. Housekeeping crew excellent.
Review 7:Expensive!! A basic breakfast for our family of 4 costs 60 euro! We got old bread with fungus with our cheesefondu. We had a room with kitchen but you cannot use it.
Review 8:Close to the slopes Ski in ski out Swimmingpool and sauna Clean
Review 9:I didn't like the fact that the bunk beds are in the hall way next to the toilet! This meant every time we needed to go to the bathroom in the night we may wake the children! Our apartment was advertised as 2 bedrooms but in fact 1 bedroom is the hallway! This was very dissapoonting.
Review 10:This hotel is great. It has a spa, pool, restaurant, bar, boot room and the location is fantastic being on piste. I'd definitely return!
Review 11:was concerned over the use of the kitchenette (and associated automatic charges for use), but spoke to reception on arrival and usage guidelines were explained (don't use the hob or Microwave) which was simple enough to avoid.
Review 12:Great Staff, great hotel. very impressed!
Review 13:Housekeeping didn't put a mattress pad back on my sons bed which made for a very poor nights sleep. Didn't refill kitchen or bath products. They need to work on this area.
Review 14:Awesome ski-in, ski-out. Pretty facility, good rooms, pretty pool spa area. Helpful front desk. Good food and wine choices. Gorgeous fireplace area.
Review 15:Usurious 19 euro per-person-per-day charge for a basic buffet breakfast, which we assumed was included. At checkout even the desk staff looked embarrassed to charge it.
Review 16:There wasn't anything bad It could have been improved by complementary bottles of water in the rooms.
Review 17:Very comfortable room and bed Two balconies with awesome views , we were very blessed :) Super fireplace and reception area Great dressing gowns and slippers, even for the children!
Review 18:The hotel stuff could improve their English. But generally in this area when you do not speak French - it may be problem.
Review 19:Very nice hotel, perfect location
Review 20:Even though they tried .. they couldn't organize our transfer at the end to a connecting bus .. so had to walk 30 minutes with bags through snow .. amazing for a property of this supposed quality.
Review 21:Ski in Ski out was great .. staff very friendly. Rooms clean and well appointed
Review 22:As with so many places, the wifi is poor.
Review 23:Genuine ski-in, ski-out with a ski locker room handy to the slope access. Helpful friendly staff. Nice spacious rooms and a lovely pool with views out to the snow.
Review 24:Breakfast was unreasonably priced. Quality of service was poor and only when hotel manager arrived service became better as well as breakfast selection got surprisingly wider.
Review 25:Great hotel for skiing. Room was spacious.
Review 26:With four teenagers wi fi is really important. It is there but just not strong enough or reliable.
Review 27:This was a great location for us, two adults plus four teenagers under 15. Ski straight out in the morning. Hire shops within 5 mins walk plus a good selection of reasonable restaurants.
Review 28:No Wifi the whole time we were there!
Review 29:Our family room was good, apart from hearing the lift at night!
Review 30:Inconsistent service in bar:/restaurant
Review 31:Location, ski in ski out, comfortable rooms, bread basket for breakfast (to order)
Review 32:Internet strength in room wasn't great but it worked
Review 33:Friendly staff and lovely facilities.
Review 34:Everything
Review 35:wifi not reliable limited room service availability
Review 36:Location facilities staff
Review 37:Fixed menu
Review 38:We stayed in an apartment with our 3 teens. Room was very well appointed, showers were fantastic, cosy fire in reception.
Review 39:The accommodation and facilities.
Review 40:Noise from machine room during night
Review 41:The access to ski slope and outside view
Review 42:When we got into trouble because of a road block, reception was not at all helpful or creative but just shrugged.
Review 43:Good atmosphere and facilities
Review 44:Pathetic Wi-Fi absolutely cramped toilet
Review 45:location, facalities, nice bar and a very pleasant staff.
Review 46:Cleaning of apartment wasn't daily, Wi-fi bandwidth slow
Review 47:Friendly, helpful staff, restaurant, swimming pool, location +++
Review 48:Very nice and well situated hotel. We liked all and hope to return! Thanks a lot!
Review 49:Sauna did not work
Review 50:Locality room and lounge
Review 51:Poor wifi. Sad we can't get the skipass in the hotel.
Review 52:Staff . Hotel
Review 53:Didn't stay long enough.
Review 54:Great rooms, well equipped. Nice hotel and swimming pool. Hotel happy to answer questions in advance of stay that helped our planning. Genuine ski in/out. Subject to availability, able to arrange a late check-out (5pm) for no extra charge. Staff happy to help.
Review 55:Area was very quiet, with limited restaurants close by, although there was free bus service to go to centre of Les Menuires.
Review 56:Excellent location to ski in/out. Very clean and spacious apartment. Locker room for ski storage. Staff at reception were extremely helpful.
Review 57:Breakfast was a bit pricey for what was offered.
Review 58:The location to the ski slopes was a perfect ski in and out access -we were easily able to access all hills in the 3 valley ski domain. The food was also surprisingly good and not all fondue and heavy Savoyard fare....Tuesday is also Sushi night and it was really quite good!
Review 59:When booking it needs to be clearer re use of kitchen equipment as this does seem to confuse lots of people wifi could be better for multiple devices maybe it needs separate passwords per device some hooks in the rooms would be so useful on backs of doors and on wall on way in
Review 60:Super large suite for family very clean and comfortable great location to ski in and out with ease staff extremely helpful and friendly
Review 61:The shower head in the main bathroom does not attach properly and hit us repeatedly on the head - it was quite heavy!! The WiFi mostly didn't work.
Review 62:The staff were really helpful. I didn't realise when booking that the room did not include any kitchen utensils, but they gave us the equipment in exchange for not cleaning the room every day, which was excellent. The room was really great and the location of the hotel on the slope could not have been better. Loved it.
Review 63:The WiFi was very poor. Good connection, but no bandwidth.
Review 64:Spacious, modern apartment. Nice bathroom with plenty of hot water. Nice toiletries. Good location with supermarket and restaurants near by.
Review 65:The room booked had a kitchenette however signage indicated that if it looked as if it had been used an additional fee of 45 euro per night would be added to the bill . If the room has a kitchenette it seems unreasonable to charge extra for it use when this wasn't mentioned when booking .
Review 66:Wifi was slow and didn't work half the time. Restaurant was overpriced. Ridiculous cost to use the kitchenette in your room. None of these reasons would keep me from staying here again.
Review 67:The hotel was new and almond the amenities were state of the art. The rooms were large and comfortable but the beds were a bit too hard (just for my personal preference). The location was excellent (best ski in/out access we saw over the weekend) and the staff were very friendly, especially as we were traveling with our 1.5 year old son. I would definitely recommend this hotel, but just be aware the wifi was terrible (I skied most if the time so was a bigger deal for my wife and son) and the restaurant in the hotel is a bit over priced (17 euro for a kids menu ... Really?!?) We are in the village so this didn't impact us. The only other point that was a little obsurd was that if you used the kitchenette it was a 45 - 65 euro charge per day. We ate out in the village as mentioned so this didn't affect our stay, but it is still a ridiculous notion. I have read other reviews about the pool being cold, but this was not the case for us, the temperature was perfectly warm.
Review 68:Inside parking too low for SUV + Ski box.
Review 69:Outstanding ski-in ski-out location. Relative big rooms for the French alps and the kitchenette facility is ideal when traveling with kids. The toddlers ski slope with lift in front of the hotel was also plus.
Review 70:Internet connection is very poor but what do you expect in themountains?!
Review 71:The hotel was modern, well equipped and very friendly. All the staffwent out of their way to help and offer advice. A particular highlightwas the New Year's Eve activities. 200 esf instructors came down themountain in the dark on skis holding lit torches to make a human2013/2014. The was followed by fireworks and music which was quitespectacular. A 5 course French dinner was held in the hotel which wasvery special. The room layout could not have been improved with lots ofspace for a family of 5. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms andkitchen/dining area which was very useful with all our equipment. The rooms were very well maintained and thought out with views of themain village and the mountains.
Review 72:We booked an apartment with kitchen facilities, including microwave, fridge and two rings, but were told we would have to pay 35 euros a day to use kitchen facilities. The kitchen was not well equipped - no cloths, tea towel, washing up liquid etc. Wi fi very slow.
Review 73:Clean, spacious and very comfortable with good views and skiing from the back door
Review 74:The pool and steam room were a bit crowded and in the Uk children under 16 are not allowed in steam room or sauna so we were surprised to see toddlers in there. The internet connection was bad.
Review 75:We liked the newness and sylishly designed reception area. Our aaprtment accomodation was well equipped and very nice.
Review 76:Two issues are 1)the quality of the food for the price and 2)the bar/waitress service needs to be improved along with the language capability of some staff. Relatively minor issues in the big picture, but if improved it will be superb!
Review 77:Hotel was very modern, fashionable and well maintained. Great location and friendly, very helpful staff. Our room was very spacious, which was good given we had to spend a lot of time in there as my daughter pulled her knee ligaments and was on crutches from day one!
Review 78:For the standing of this residence, we are waiting a more experimented staff. Some of them are very friendly and make the best, and the other one are just doing a stage and are not enough proactiv. There is only one person "senior" and it has consequences on the organization of the bar, the restaurant and the reception. Contact with client is to poor although people at a such place, should be very interactiv with client to make ambiance. Director of the residence should be care with such important details because we can't ask to the young staff to be efficient on all aspect if they don't have a good leader!
Review 79:We really enjoyed the location, all facilities of the residence, the confortable and beautiful appartment. After skiing, a short break in Spa is very nice. Breakfast is very good and various. This is all material aspect, but for human aspect, it will be better.
Review 80:Lovely,new,clean apartment. More spacious than expected. Immaculate bathroom & kitchen. Very comfy bed. Ski in ski out. Teenagers loved the spa! Short walk and lift to centre of village of Les Bruyeres which is quiet and has .enough nice restaurants. Good supermarket and patisserie.
Review 83:There was not much apres ski atsmophere in the hotel lounge area. The spa area can get noisy and rather crowded with lots of young children running around. Some simple diciplines should be applied in this area.
Review 84:The Village Suite room was really nice we had two bedrooms and a kitchen/living room. The Spa area was a great place to unwind after a days skiing. The ski out/in location was great for slope access.
Review 85:Spa facilities were OK but not fantastic, and sauna was not always working Breakfast was very expensive - not that special for the price
Review 86:Room and facilities Control of temperature of room restaurant food - evening meals Afternoon vin chaud and pancakes general feel of the place Staff responsiveness
Review 87:1.Very very poor connection to the Internet... Like you are not connected...2.The ski room was not having boots heater, so in the morning the boot was cold... 3.The design and the decoration of the hotel was like a hotel and not like a chalet... 2.From the photos you can see that there are kitchen equipments but they give you with extra charge.(to be honest I do not know how it works in other hotels) 3.Inside there were 2 cups ,2 glasses and 4 small spoons. There were no plates forks and knifes... ( I think they should provide with these basics)
Review 88:1.Very nice position for skiing.Directly to the slopes.no walking.2.Excelent staff for the spa treatments! The sea holistic program was Excelent , so the ladies that treat us. 3.Nice swimming pool and Hammam 4.Parking outside the reception. 5.On the 3rd floor there was access to the main area of the village!(100m walking!) 6.The total room was big and warm. 7.Prices of the beverages on the bar were same like outside!
Review 89:no wifi available in rooms even though it said there was and no kitchen cloths, washing up liquid items, there was a kitchen with crockery and utensils, no pans and nothing to clean anything with. My friends room was the same but had no plates!
Review 90:large suite, 2 bedrooms
Review 91:All windows have system of micro ventilation, and it was cold several nights.
Review 92:Generally I like the room (junior suit), it was big and very comfortable to stay with children, also I like the location of the hotel, especially that it is not in the les menuires center.
Review 93:If you plan cocking in the kitchen, be aware because a fan over the oven doesn't relly take out a smell..
Review 94:Very good location. Just step out and ski. Nice spa area. Comfortable apartament.
Review 95:Everything was great. Ski in ski out. Staff was very accomodating and friendly...really went out of their way to provide excellent service, especially florentine.
Review 96:Rather expensive for food and drink but guess they all are here !!!! €60a night for dishes and pans for the apartment was too much.
Review 97:Annette and staff very friendly and helpful location excellent forSki/snowboard
Review 98:The apartments come with excellent kitchen facilities but no utensils or crockery. To use it you have to pay extra which for the cost was a bit of a cheek.
Review 99:Just a superb place to stay in an excellent location. Well run with friendly and helpful staff. Very little to fault.
Review 100:Astranomical bar prices€60 per night charge to rent kitchen equipment ie toaster, plates, cutlery! This wasn't clear when the booking was made. It's already an expensive hotel and I think this additional charge is unreasonable.
Review 101:Great location for ski in / ski out. Nice rooms and decor throughoutthe hotel.
Review 102:Difficult to find at night with the sign blocked by a car. No hooks whatsoever in the apartment - difficult to keep things tidy. Especially if 6 of you. Limited menu in the restaurant.
Review 103:Great ski in/ out location. Lovely , modern and clean hotel. Very helpful staff.
Review 104:I have only two minor gripes...the breakfast in the Hotel was steep at18 Euros per person; the pool area was a little too small for the numberof guests!
Review 105:The Hotel is very modern (built in 2012?) but blends nicely with thesurroundings. Our room was very nicely furnished, complete with full andmodern kitchen units and utensils ...including an induction cooker and adishwasher. It was a very welcome change from old ski lodges where thekitchen utensils are easily showing their age. Skiing out of and intothe Hotel ski room was perfect. The staff were very friendly andhelpful, and never looked for tips.
Review 106:Restaurant could be so much better than it is! My lasagne was trulydreadful although my husband`s grilled gambas were fine. Walk via twolifts and five flights of stairs to other restaurants is a bit of a borealthough only 10 mins. Would be i9mpossible with a push chair/smallchildren. Ski room is very poorly designed with everyone tripping overeach other at peak times. No heated boot racks in lockers so take bootsup to your apartment to avoid cold wet boots the next day!
Review 107:Apartments are modern, spacious (for France!) and clean. Smallish 130cmdeep swimming pool (over 10 people made it very crowded) good steam roomand small sauna, all clean. Attractive reception area; well stocked andattractive bar. Breakfast and dinner adequate for a couple of meals butvery limited menu and some dishes not very good. Small but well thoughtout wine list. Access to piste excellent: truly ski door to door for allbut complete beginners. Well priced compared with other residences inLes Menuires especially taking spa facilities into account. Staffhelpful and friendly.
Review 108:Still no hooks in the room!! You need an extra pay for kitchen equipment.
Review 109:Super location for skiers, big appartments, 20 % discount for rental in Intersport shop
Review 110:Children running wild in the bar area. Lack of bedside tables in the bedroom.
Review 111:Almost everything but see the red box. This is an excellent ski hotel and we would use it again. Quiet clean and comfortable with an air of luxury.
Review 112:The perfect place to stay for a family ski vacation. A brand-new hotel, with excellent design, spacious clean rooms, right on the ski slope. I'd like to thank once again to the reception team for their responsiveness, kindness and help. I'll will surely recommend this charming hotel to my friends.
