Reviews for Hotel Laperouse

Review 1:We arrived after 8pm and the reception desk was closed. Although this was noticed previously in the booking information, this is the first time in a long travelling experience that something like this happenned to us. So there was a sign with a phone number to call, we have a foreign phone so couldn't call in France, so we called twice from a phone of a generous passer and nobody answered. We started unsuccessfully to look for another hotel, one hour later we pass outside Laperouse and was a couple who helped us calling again to the hotel and this time they answered and came, not very happy, to give us the keys of our room.

Review 2:Great location. Good size of the rooms. Nice swimming pool. The staff gave good information to our answers.

Review 3:really claustrophobic toilet, mould in shower area, water standing in the shower, no air condition, the garden and swimming pool not available all day

Review 4:very friendly and helpful staff, safe storage for bikes, location very close to historic centre, lovely garden with a swimming pool

Review 5:the bathroom is old and ready to be upgraded

Review 6:excellent location, nice breakfast, friendly staff, pool (which we didn't use, because it was raining, but it looked really nice), hygienic room (a bit old though)

Review 7:Nothing really. OIt was very hot when we were there so hard to sleep. Aircon or at least a fan would help.

Review 8:The excellent location on the edge of the old town; the owners were friendly and approachable and the pool and garden were a wonderful bonus.

Review 9:The best part of our stay was the Manager, Quentin, who was courtesy and helpfulness personified. Unusually, we had a street level apartment with a terrace looking down into the garden and pool. It was delightful. Car parking was easy also.

Review 10:We hoped to drop our bags off early before the check-in time but the reception is closed between 12 and 3pm. Leaving bags on the day of the departure was no problem though as they were able to give us access even during those times.

Review 11:From the moment we arrived the owner and his family were very welcoming and friendly. The property is 2 star but was clean, comfortable and had a lovely pool and garden. I think the 2 star rating is probably down to the lack of facilities such as lift and air conditioning that a building of this age can't easily accommodate.

Review 12:There wasn't much I didn't like. The slightly drab decor of the stairs and landing was a bit disappointing - but made the bedroom all the more appealing. And breakfast, though satisfactory, was nothing special. But overall a very positive impression!

Review 13:The location not too far from the SNCF station and just on the edge of the old town. The friendly welcome from the young man (owner?) on reception and his help getting me logged on to the hotel's new wife. The pleasant decision the bedroom.

Review 14:The room was very tiny; the shower had mold all around the bottom perimeter which probably could have been taken care of with a few good splashes of bleach! Had to pay for parking which I was not expecting as my guidebook said that parking was free. It used to be, but they built a building on what used to be the parking lot. Some noise from the hallway when people were coming and going, but not bad. My room was on the back. I only stayed 2 nights

Review 15:The owner/manager (male) was great--very helpful with directions, etc.; carried my luggage up the two flights of stairs and down when I checked out. The location was great for walking to places of interest--mainly the cathedral and the museum. I did not eat breakfast so can't comment.

Review 16:Lack of a shower curtain made taking a shower difficult without spraying water everywhere. And wet, tile surfaces are an accident waiting to happen. A tub that is difficult to get into and no hand-holds is dangerous.

Review 17:A charming hotel, ideally located to the main attractions of the city and close to the cleanest, most secure parking garage probably in all of Europe

Review 18:Perhaps the decoration of the rooms could be considered outdated, but we were very comfortable and it was clean.

Review 19:Monsieur and his family were incredibly cheerful and friendly, gave excellent restaurant recommendations and essentially could not have been more helpful. The pool was a bonus also! A perfect place from which to explore Albi - a fascinating City!

Review 20:The only small thing I could regret is the absence of door between the bathroom and the bed in the small double rooms.

Review 21:The location is incredible, there's a nice swimming pool as well as a cute garden. The staff is absolutely lovely and the prices more than reasonnable

Review 22:The usual thin hotel mattress.

Review 23:Very friendly, helpful host. Great location between the train station and the historic center.

Review 24:Nice young couple running the hotel, good breakfast and a refreshing swimming pool and garden.

Review 25:Lack of a/c in 40 Celsius temperatures; tiny room; plastic mattress cover made bed even hotter and stickier.

Review 26:Close to town center

Review 27:The pool is awesome

Review 28:Wouldn't stay here again. Nothing bad but would look elsewhere.

Review 29:Our room had a lovely balcony overlooking a courtyard.

Review 30:In need of redecorating and re carpeting

Review 31:Helpful friendly owner. Nice coffee and bread and preserves. Clean rooms and comfortable beds

Review 32:Manager was excellent.friendliest staff member met in France

Review 33:Very good location. A young man on reception was very friendly and helpful. The room was for me - as a solo traveler and for 1 night only - very good, comfortable, with everything I needed. Breakfest was traditional french, great, in beautiful dinning room. I could leave my sutcase in storage room after check-out as long as I needed.

Review 34:One flight of stairs, but that was ok for the other advantages.

Review 35:Large comfortable room, easy to park and walk to all sites and restaurants, charming and helpful host; older building with some charm, not a modern cube, windows opening onto street where life went by,but not noisy. We stayed 3 days instead of 1 and recommend as a base for interesting area.

Review 36:The room I had was very small, but that didn't bother me since I knew that when I made my reservation.

Review 37:The hotel staff was extremely pleasant and helpful.

Review 38:The cleaning staff did not worry about leaving hair on the batroom tiles two days in a row... But the room was clean. :) and though the room was spacious and nice, the windows were giving on the newly reorganized Place Laperouse where people seem to use it as a gathering place ...at night ! To drink, laugh and talk VERYloud...

Review 39:The hotel was ideally located for a city trip and the owner was very friendly (in a good way!) and helpful. Breakfast was good. The price very interesting.

Review 40:The second room we took was a double standard. It was horrible, sosmall, no heater, and the bathroom had active mold on the curtains andwalls. We did not sleep in this room and instead we all crammed in thesuperior room(although we paid for 2 nights and they wouldn't giveus the money back on the sole fact that we paid by credit card). Also,we paid for breakfast for 3 people, they put us in a tiny table for 2 inthe corner.

Review 41:We took 2 rooms, one superior which was okay.

Review 42:We liked that the hotel was very close to trains and buses and the old part of the city, the rooms were very clean and comfortable. The best thing about the hotel tho' was that Quentin, the manager, not only had excellent english but also willing to go out of his way to help us with the rest of our itinerary, even when we weren't staying in the hotel, and made our time in the area so much more enjoyable.

Review 43:- Standard rooms don't have a frigo bar - nor, surprisingly, a telephone

Review 44:- There is a small nice garden with a swimming pool; - Rooms are freshly renovated and neat; - Bathrooms are very cosy; - Ideally located (5 min walking distance from the Cathedral and 10 from the train station)

Review 45:No face cloths and poor bedside reading lights.

Review 46:Reasonable price, Friendly, knowledgeable, English speaking staff. Did little things well, but not the extras in higher price range hotels.separate toilet from sink and shower.

Review 47:No hotel parking, although we did find a public car park nearby which, as it was over a long weekend, was not charging. Otherwise, it could have been more difficult. Rooms quite small and noise from other guests noticeable.

Review 48:Good breakfast and close to tourist sights in Albi.

Review 49:The rooms we were in ( in the annex next to the hotel) were a little oldfashioned and the light in the room toilet was not working

Review 50:The hotel manageress was very friendly and the breakfast was excellent.

Review 51:The hotel was in the process of upgrading the rooms. Our rooms were comfortable for the time we used them. Toilet and shower room small.

Review 52:Very convenient for visiting Albi town and the restaurants Close to bus and train stations. Good breakfast. Excellent swimming pool.

Review 53:The hotel is beginning to show its age. No AC. Street-level noise made sleeping difficult. Currently the city is doing a major street project in front of the hotel, which although not the hotel's fault, made walking a bit more dificult. No parking facilties.

Review 54:The hotel is located near the cathedral/Toulouse-Lautrec museum.

Review 55:It's a bit noisy

Review 56:It's located in the center of the city, just a fex steps away from the historical center. Yet it has a very pleasant garden and a pool.

Review 57:The owners were very friendly and accommodating and spoke good english. The room was small, but adequate. The breakfast was excellent and the breakfast room charming. Great location near Cathedral and Talouse Loutrec museum. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 58:Very helpful and friendly people (even after we took the roomkey with us...)

Review 59:Nothing.

Review 60:Excellent breakfast. Helpful staff. Quiet setting.

Review 61:A little gem in a great location! Staff was very helpful and friendly.

Review 62:Very friendly owner who provided plenty of city information. Had alovely terrace but the weather was too cold to use it - sadly.

Review 63:Our stay was hampered by construction works at the nearby square

Review 64:well positioned in Albi Pool area

Review 65:Excellently located, only a couple of minutes walk from the cathedral.

Review 66:swimming pool during heat wave

Review 67:A lift would have been good.

Review 68:Good size of room Friendly staff Excellent breakfasts
