Reviews for Chalet Hotel Kaya
Review 1:The hotel is expensive. The wifi is inadequate. The bedroom-suite has no reading lights. The underfloor heating is centrally controlled and always on. It gets too hot at night unless one leaves the door to the terrace / balcony open. Service at dinners was sometimes chaotic - courses missed, waiting ages for a course, food finally arriving cold. Choice of dishes is limited. Cold water pours into the swimming pool when you least expect and want it.
Review 2:The bedrooms are comfortable. The situation of the hotel on the top of Les Menuires / Reberty is convenient for skiing and provides a good view of the pistes. The staff are generally very nice and friendly. The breakfasts are lovely and the dinners have some fine highlights. The ski shop is easily accessible as part of the hotel. Ski passes can be bought at the hotel desk. The spa has a good sauna and an adequate swim pool. One feels more than sufficiently pampered.
Review 3:Mattrasses are not up to standard for like Hotel - Much too hard - Bad Pillows. (We are not overweight) - This is an overal problem in most French Hotels. French Hotel owners should go to Scandinavia to learn how to do it. They have some way to go to get this straight.
Review 4:Staff, food, location.
Review 5:Restaurant set menus with no alternative if you don't like it. Breakfast for 23 euros per person poor quality with not a lot of choice.
Review 6:Ski in ski out. Nice spa. Nice rooms. Amazing views.
Review 7:… we experienced partly unfriendly and unprofessional personal at the reception and in the restaurant…, we felt like disturbing (Except the room Maids !!) Personal needs definitely to be trained in guest relation … we booked very expensive half board and were very disappointed …, dinner was big show, no taste ….even very small amounts of food. Poor selection only between two choices. Be prepared to wait a very long time for food. I need to tell that we really do like french cuisine !! But … back to the roots please.
Review 8:Very beautiful location, very charming accommodation, overall very nice hotel with direct access to ski piste… Could be so perfect …, but … big money for poor service…, sorry to tell!
Review 9:Staff are very helpful and friendly. Rooms are big. Location is very convenient (next to ski slopes).
Review 10:Not the best value for money.
Review 11:It's a all around hotel.
Review 12:A bit expensive, but it was worth it.
Review 13:High quality of room and facilities!
Review 14:very slow connection to the Internt
Review 15:Very poor service; highly impolite night reception manager; housekeeping that leaves in the room dirty vine glasses and removes ALL soaps, shampoos etc.; restaurant has a poor menu and not a best service as well.
Review 16:Location is perfect for skiers
Review 17:Staff is friendly but distant and could be better trained to meet people's needs. Staff did not know much about the slopes, one employee was not even able to pinpoint the hotel on the slope map. Lunch buffet is too expensive and not worth the money
Review 18:Location is great 100% true "ski-in, ski-out" hotel Rooms are nice
Review 19:Bad internet connection -very slow, needed to enter password and login all the time. For me - cushion was not good enough but it depends on what do you like.
Review 20:Located on the slopes. Big comfortable room with windows looking on mountains, with sleeping and living area. Ski rent is directly in the hotel and it is very convenient, good restourat and the very good one - just few minutes walk or ski. Good spa services and cosmetics. TV had USB connection so we could see movies taken from home on hard disc.
Review 21:Liked: Hotel was very nice and well positioned. Free bus to town was useful although no good to us on leaving day.
Review 22:Disliked: No options for pillows despite asking at reception. Was forced to use towels. Very dissatisfied with being charged a tax on exit.... Seemed offensive after my complaints. Very dissatisfied that I had to pay 30 euros for a taxi to bus station - surely the hotel could provide an out of hours shuttle for say 5 euros Generally booking the taxi through reception was painful also. I had to chase/remind reception 3 times to do it. Each time there was a promise to contact me when done - which dint happen. Had to stand at reception while the call was made to ensure it was done in the end. Attitude of reception when sorting out departure was very much re-enforcing the English perception of French arrogance. The riposte to my expression of incredulity around booking a 30 euro taxi for 2km drive was "well sir all our customers drive to the hotel"..... The reaction to my request for a firmer pillow was similar. Generally satisfied, but the service regarding departure and the insulting extra charge soured the experience - I wont be going to this hotel again and wont be recommending it.
Review 23:Missing a jacuzzi at the spa Requested a room with slops view and didn't get it
Review 24:The staff, warm welcome, made our journey easy The room (we had a suite) The after ski buffet The breakfast buffet
Review 25:-limited menu for kids for dinner -poor ventilation at restaurant expecially when they serve that smelly melted french cheese (it smells like feet if you don't like that cheese)
Review 26:-modern interior design -ski in / ski out location -ski rental shop and boot room
Review 27:Very poor breakfast, doesn't cost that money... The restaurant doesn't have a la cart menu for the dinner
Review 28:Perfect location, straight on the piste! Nice rooms, great service!
Review 29:Described as having a gym - in reality 4 cv machines, of which 2didn't work, and in the basement be t to the sauna so unbelievablyhot & unusable. Restaurant is very expensive & not worth it. €20for starter & €35 for main course but not great. Better to go out -free shuttle bus from outside the hotel door every 10/15 mins to getto local restaurants
Review 30:Perfect door step skiing. Very helpful & friendly staff. Lovely tohave sauna in hotel to soothe aching limbs. Good size room (37m2 suite)with sunny balcony. We would go back.
Review 31:- Upon arrival, the staff member, who met us was very mean. - If you can don't stay in room 001.
Review 32:- Direct access to the slopes; - The staff during the day (all the girls) were very helpful, friendly and polite. - The rooms are very cosy; clean; - Go for rooms at 3 and 4 level (room 307 had view of the slopes);
Review 33:During our stay the pool was too crowded with lots of young kids -perhaps there should be an 'adults-only' time, as the hotel isexcellent and should be able to cater to both groups. Thespa/swimming pool closes too early (would be better if it shutaround 9-10pm).
Review 34:Loved the spa, the massages offered, the greetings and the staff. Theyall went the extra mile, for example suggesting the right sort of winefor the apres-ski, helping with the bags, the lockers and the ski shop.It was amazing, first star service! We had chocolates on our pillowsevery night and we were able to change and shower after the last dayskiing, and then relax with a last drink before heading off. The hotelis right on one of the slopes and very well located.
Review 35:No room service, no bar serving food (!) after lunch, which is reallytough when travelling with small children (given there are no walkablerestaurants in the area - kaya is isolated on top of the hill). In theevening there are basically no options for dinner for toddlers exceptfor the restaurant that opens after 7 (with its 4 course gourmet menu,it's not exactly kid friendly). We arranged for some simple pasta forour little one, which was prepared an hour late -- eons for a hungry 2yr old. They also could not supply basics like hot water kettle in theroom (had to go to bar for hot water every time.) Also, the staff werehit or miss - some great, others not knowledgeable and had to askdifferent people for help with simple questions. These were unfortunatedisadvantages for an otherwise lovely hotel/ chalet.
Review 36:Overall really beautiful, modern, cozy design chalet/ hotel with greatcommon area/ kids room. Liked: Ski in/ ski out location, modern designand decor of hotel and rooms, spacious room (kaya suite), breakfast good( but expensive for what it is), dinner good but options limited.Convenient one stop ski shop: lockers, rentals, passes, shop. Greatwithout kids for one stop destination (no big need to drive into townunless you want food, kids activities, etc).
Review 37:- No roomservice - no coffeemaschine/kitchenette in the suite - indoor pool not very exciting/welcoming to children - expensive breakfast -very poor meny choice for dinner (one different menu offered everyday) - 24 hours notice to order fondue or raclette in the restaurant should not be necessary
Review 38:The prestige suite was very well designed and functional however we missed a coffe maschine and a kitchenette. The hotel was new and fresh.
Review 39:The staff at the hotel were exceptional - charming, helpful and withoutexception, working hard to make our stay a happy one.Hotel itself is stylish and comfortable.
Review 40:Hotel quite good, but the personnel on reception simply awful. Constantly all confuse, have included a payment at departure for those services with which we at all didn't use, as a result have cleaned all superfluous sums, but next day have written off from my credit card not clear sum detailed elaboration on which till now haven't sent and at all don't answer inquiries about detailed elaboration.
Review 41:Garage too small.
Review 42:Very good location at the middle of 3 Valle ski area. Friendly staff.
Review 43:the restaurant too expensive
Review 44:location right on the slopes
Review 45:They add extras and also attempted to charge me for 3 meals i didnt have, was quite stressful arguing my bill on checking out.
Review 46:food is quite expensive
Review 47:good location, friendly staff, nice rooms, good food
Review 48:Very poor choice from a tiny menu in an extemely expensive restaurant, ended up eating out all the time!
Review 49:The room
Review 50:Restaurant opened only at 7:30 pm for dinner. Too late for small children.
Review 51:Friendly staff. Great room.
Review 52:Wireless is only available in some places inside hotel. Network isvery weak.
Review 53:Wonderful skiresort, it is our yearly romantic escape:-)
Review 54:worked very loud at night snow cannons - a bad dream.
Review 55:New good gourmet hotel with a good location
Review 56:My only complaint would be about the baggage handler who was really rude. They should fix that asap.
Review 57:Great place to stay!
Review 58:Good hotel. Big rooms. Good staff. Rich hot breakfast.
