Reviews for Abri du Passant
Review 1:Only little problem is, you'll have to climb 2 flights of stairs, meaning the BB is not suited for the disabled.
Review 2:This is the ideal place to explore the Lille/Roubaix region: close to tram and Métro, situated in a quiet road with plenty of parking, extremely clean and spacious and with a quaint touch (it is a totally renovated 1800s building). Mme Nathalie is a great host and her breakfast will really make you feel ready for the day.
Review 3:Manager was excellent, friendly and very helpful. Room was charming, lovely and Quieteasy to park outside and very safe close to tram Free wife - although could have been stronger on 3rd floor
Review 4:Me and my Wife stopped off on a bike tour of Europe. Beautiful House. Large spacious rooms with great facilities and enjoyable breakfast.
Review 5:Really nice welcome from the staff on arrival. Really nice bedrooms and communal areas.
Review 6:Staff location good wifi and breakfast. The floorboards squeak a bit but the house is full of atmosphere.
Review 7:very friendly staff, great breakfast
Review 8:The B&B had such personality & charity. The owner was very friendly. Roubaix itself wasn't very nice, but the B&B made up for it.
Review 9:The lady owner was very helpful, and provided us with secure parking in her garage.
Review 10:It has to be said that the small single room on the top floor really is small, and in summer receives afternoon and evening sun, making it quite hot - but there is a generous wardrobe and the space is used efficiently.
Review 11:A very friendly welcome, with suggestions for local attractions and places to eat nearby, but also each morning during our visit of three days we could talk about what we had done and what our plans were, and receive help in travel arrangements to various places we wanted to see. L'Abri du Passant is conveniently near the Metro which provides a frequent service to Lille, but is in a quiet street. The larger rooms are spacious and comfortable with decent sized bathrooms with natural light. The breakfast includes a great range of conserves and jams, croissants, bread, baguettes, fruit, and tea or coffee, served at a communal table in a large and airy room - excellent for sharing conversations with Natalie (the proprietress) or other guests.
Review 12:Natalie was excellent, providing safe storage for seven bikes, helping organise a takeaway late on a Sunday prior to a public holiday and generally accommodating the logistical difficulties in competing the Patis Roubaix sportive. The property is clean, and charmingly restored in a contemporary yet traditional style. I would happily return.
Review 13:All of these are small enough things on their own, but collectively they made for a bit more quirkiness than I cared to deal with on holidays…* owner wanted to be paid by bank transfer, and not credit card. While I've no problem with paying people and companies I know with bank transfers, it's not ideal for a booking at a small, and to me unknown, hotel where I have no recourse for a complaint/refund/fraud protection as I have with a credit card. Recommend the owner just accepts CC payments and bake it into the price of the room.* we told the owner we were bringing bikes on our stay (as did most of the other guests who were there). We ended up leaving bikes and boxes in the hallway, which was not very secure. Would have much preferred the use of a locked room in the hotel, or the use of a shed/garage where we could securely leave them.* the bedroom didn't have a door to the en-suite toilet, which wasn't ideal (it only had a curtain)* the stairs is very steep, difficult to carry luggage upstairs, and would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues to manage, or trying to bring babies/small kids up there* if you're not on the top floor, you'll have to listen to very squeaky floor boards every time someone moves around upstairs.* the hallway/stairs lights are on a timer, not a sensor; you could find yourself descending the steep staircase in the dark if you didn't time it well!* not many restaurants/eating options nearby, only a super market* owner is friendly, but was not super helpful when we were trying to figure out how to get to the velodrome - by foot ("it's far"), by bus ("it's complicated"), by taxi ("it's expensive").
Review 14:* location was good for public bike, metro and tram - except the staff didn't make it easy for us to find this out. * room was spacious * kitchenette available to use * breakfast was fine, but I would have preferred smaller tables, not a big communal dining table where I had to chit-chat in the morning with other guests * wifi signal was good * bed was comfortable
Review 15:Big and beautiful but coolish in room. Heater didn't seem to go past warm. Floors did creak a lot but didn't notice others walking so maybe they didn't notice ours. Beautiful winding stairs were a challenge with luggage. Would have liked more chairs in room and perhaps a little living room to gather and relax on main floor.
Review 16:Super friendly owners made our stay special! Couldn't have been nicer or more helpful! We felt like friends after just 2 days! Great location with easy, FREE, on street parking! Spacious bedroom with private bath across the hall and kitchen to use as well! You could cook and save a bundle and we would next time! Would stay there again!
Review 17:Very nice stay in roubaix. Good english speaking owners. Good (new) bed and beautiful classic room with modern comfort. Complete Breakfast with 12 !! different kinds of marmelade. Close to metro, within 20 minutes in Lille for 1.50
Review 18:The wooden floor creaks. There´s no real bill, as it is not a hotel. Complicated for business cost.
Review 19:Surprised in the very beginning as it was not a real hotel which is not written anywhere, but a nice place to stay with big living room to have breakfast.
Review 20:very nice and helpful staff
Review 21:The house is apperently fub! Must see!
Review 22:Owner was a delight. Very welcoming. Beautiful building, lovely rooms, good breakfast. Very personal touch.
Review 23:Friendly staff, romantic rooms
