Reviews for Hotel La Calanque
Review 1:The hotel rooms and bathrooms for a 4* hotel could benefit from a bit of an overhaul and the pool also needs some attention. The mini bar was, for France, extremely over-priced which we though was a bit naughty. For example a can of coke was 6euros!
Review 2:Location is wonderful. On the rocks overlooking the sea. We booked a sea view room with a balcony. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The outside space for sunbathing was decent though we stayed just outside peak season and can imagine in high season that they would be a bit low on sunbeds. The room was a very good size. Short walk from the town which had some very good restaurants on the waterfront. We dined at the casual Pizzaiole. The owner was good fun and very helpful.
Review 3:The only down side is that the hotel seems to lack a lot of amenities and items that I would expect from a 4* hotel room. The breakfast cost is also ridiculously high.
Review 4:The view is amazing
Review 5:Weird feeling of over staffed ghost town hotel. Dated 1970s white and turquoise throughout. You could see some big player with big euro turn this place into something great. For now...
Review 6:Excellent on water view rooms that are all dated and quite small. Hotel in transition with weird restaurant menu and spooky over staffed feel. Good thing is it's a simple 4 minute walk to the port and unlimited restaurant choices.
Review 7:Leaving
Review 8:OMG - the view is unbeatable! Splurge and get the sea view. You won't regret it. The food is clean, organic, well prepared. Don't expect any classic French sauces. The focus is on "clean eating" - with tons of flavor. The service is exceptional - they anticipate your needs and do whatever it takes to make you feel like family (without the drama). We felt spoiled from the moment we arrived. This hotel is for people who want to relax on a deep level. It's pleasantly isolated next to a secluded cove.
Review 9:No wifi, no coffee or tea facility in the room
Review 10:Location was amazing, direct access to the kriek, terasse with sea view is a must and staff very friendly and helpful. Great if you want to spend some time in Saint tropez or ramatuelle as it is just 20 minutes away.
Review 11:Lunch menu could be broadened to include light snacks, salads etc
Review 12:Location was superb with access to an excellent pool and to the sea. Staff very helpful and with dynamic new owner the hotel can only get better and better.
Review 13:The waterside location is spectacular
Review 14:Best hotel in Cavalaire. Fabulous views. Attentive pleasant helpful staff. Super bed linen and a delight to stay there.
Review 15:The hotel is a little dated but still very nice
Review 16:The staff was very accommodating and the location on the water was great!
Review 17:Room we had was quaint but could have been better
Review 18:Food was excellent
Review 19:a bit old fashioned (1960's ish) No coffee available in bedroom. Lack of vibrancy
Review 20:View, surroundings, classic Mediterranean situation
Review 21:The food in the restaurant was not bad but disappointing.
Review 22:The location is 5 STAR!
Review 23:Noisy rooms. You can hear people watching television in the the other room. The amenities in the room were very scanty : no enough electrical outlets in the room (you have to go and buy an electrical extension to use your computer on the terrace), no toilet paper dispenser. One has a feeling the money was spent in the decoration and not on the basics.
Review 24:Location. View of the sea.
Review 25:Due to our traveling by car, the hotel is somewhat remote from the French 4-lane highway system.
Review 26:The location immediately adjacent to the sea offered spectacular views. The staff was very helpful in providing driving instructions and pointing out site seeing locations. The staff seemed to trully enjoy their jobs. Parking was very convenient within the hotel grounds. We enjoyed our balcony from room 23, room service and dinner at the hotel.
Review 27:The beds were very uncomfortable and caused quite a pain in my back for several days. The hot tub was not hot at all, and the pool had garbage floating in it after a windy day.
Review 28:The amazing view and proximity to great beaches.
Review 29:parking was a bit tight and lots of shuffeling had to happen to get the car out
Review 30:My fiance and I had a really wonderful and relaxing time here. We love to sit by the pool or the deck below for some shade and relax while taking the occasional snorkel around the cove. Room had a great balcony and view of the cove/ocean
Review 31:The "appartment" we stayed in had no balcony or terrace. In fact it was impossible to see the view from the windows as people were walking past all the time to get to the pool so we had to keep our curtains closed all day! There was no kitchenette. The solarium (sun terrace) which was part of the public area had a constant flow of water pouring down onto it from the pool which was above because the guttering was broken. The filtering grills running aroyund the pool were filthy.
Review 32:The staff were very pleasant. The views were exceptional. The food was very good.
Review 33:We were bitterely disappointed with our "apartment". We had booked thishotel because the room had a terrace (or at least some outside privatespace). But our "apartment" was one of the rooms with no outside placeto sit. Access to the bathroom is through the second bedroom so thisroom would only suit a family (but should then be at a family roomprice). Although the room was clean, the furniture was dated and smelledmusty. The room was really overpriced (circa 400 euro per night). Myhusbands alcohol free cocktail (in other words a fruit juice in a niceglass) cost 12euro. Breakfast for us (2 adults, 2 kds) cost 60 euro sowe went to the town each morning instead and got the same for a quarterof the price. I cannot recommend this hotel. I felt like I had beencompletely ripped off
Review 34:Staff were friendly and seaside location was good -only a short walk tothe local town. Parking on site was good. The short pier access to thesea from the hotel was a bonus as it made a quick dip in the sea apleasant possibility. The location of the swimming pool and therestaurant was lovely, overlooking the sea.
Review 35:Breakfast was pricy
Review 36:The staff was very nice on arrival. my room was great overlooking the water. The near by shops and restaurants was very nice. All was great and would like to return sometime!!!!
Review 37:Wi-Fi is available in the lobby but there was zero coverage in my room. There's so much technology available today to extend Wi-Fi coverage area, this is something they could easily resolve. That said, it's kind of nice to get a glass of wine in the lobby/restaurant while checking email or Skyping home. The Wi-Fi speed was excellent. Cellphone data coverage in the room was erratic and marginal at best. Driving to other cities takes longer than you'd expect. It's not so much a traffic problem, but the roads are narrow, indirect, and go through lots of towns. Even though they aren't physically very far, St. Tropez is a 20 minute drive and the airport in Nice takes more than 90 minutes.
Review 38:Beautiful place with very nice staff. The hotel is built on a steep hill that declines into the water. The view is absolutely gorgeous. You can descend into the water by going down just a few steps to a small pier. There's no sandy beach here, but there is a nice pool and sun deck. My room had a very nice sun deck of it's own. The restaurant is very good as well. The air conditioner worked very well. The town of Cavalaire, with its sandy beach, is just a short walk and has plenty of nice restaurants and shopping. I highly recommend La Calanque and their staff.
Review 39:This IS NOT a four stars hotel!! Is at most a 3 star hotel. Rooms decoration is ok for a 2 stars hotel. Quality of beds is bad. And for sure is overpriced. No room service between 12 and 7am
Review 40:View is amazing. Excellent for swimming in the sea. Staff is friendly.
Review 41:StaF should make sure AC works correctly and outside light on terrace. Should extend the brakfast timings till after 10AM
Review 42:Proximity to the water front. Clearly a unique location
Review 43:Only small moan, rooms should have kettles and some tea/coffee !
Review 44:Nice hotel in fantastic location. Staff all very friendly and spokeexcellent English. We had dinner in the hotel and found the food to bevery good and not that expensive. Valet car parking very handy and youcan walk into town 10 minutes down the road.
Review 45:Not staying long enough!
Review 46:We liked it all: the comfort, the friendly and professional staff and most of all the fantastic place this hotel is. It is worth trying and we can't wait to go back and stay a bit longer.
Review 47:Hi all, Our stay in Les Résidences du Soleil - La Calanque -sensational. The location brilliant, and the front of office staff, thereception, just the greatest bunch of ladies. Great until they told me,in front of my wife, that there was a large market 15 minutes away.Joking here. The breakfast was just a delight and yes, would stay again.
Review 48:Hotel itself is not well isolated against internal noise. Walls arethin, beds are squeaking. In case you end up having a happy couple nextroom you'll have a sleepless night, ... but at least an option to saveon xxx pay tv.
Review 49:Great location. Each room with own balcony and sea-view. No road nearby. No traffic noise.
Review 50:Beautiful hotel and setting on the sea. Excellent sevice and very helpful staff. Room was large and very well appointed with large terrace overlooking the sea. A great value at the off-season rate.
Review 51:It was very casual and friendly
Review 52:Fabulous hotel with unsurpassed coastal views.
Review 53:Ideal place for seeside vacation.
Review 54:The location is wonderful
Review 55:It's location near to the town, the amazing scenery
