Reviews for Au Paravent

Review 1:A delightful B&B in a stylishly refurbished townhouse, each bedroom themed on a personality with local artistic connections. A warm welcome from the enthusiastic owner, and a good French breakfast with top quality products. Ideal for visiting local museums. Do not stay here if you enjoy the predictable conformity of hotel chains.

Review 2:Bathrooms very dated , toilet seats did not fit, stains on toilets . Decor of bedrooms need to be toned down .lack of pillows.

Review 3:Very good breakfast.Downstairs of house very charming .Owner very welcoming .

Review 4:Nothing

Review 5:Where do I start, Au Paravent was delightful. Isabelle was a charming host and greeted us with a smile even though we were late arriving. The house is amazing and the rooms large and comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful. Thank you for a lovely stay. A very convenient place to stay after visiting Ypres.

Review 6:I prefer white linen in the bedroom as it is easier to tell if it is fresh. Could be closer to more amenities.

Review 7:Quirky feel to house, breakfast. hosts friendly welcome. Parking was easy and secure.

Review 8:We spent 3 nights here but we did not have any cleaning service (rubish, fresh towels, etc..)

Review 9:A vintage, very unique accommodation, the host/owner of the house was really kind and helpful. We had a lovely room with a terrace looking to the garden and a spacious bedroom. Free parking in the garden, and a nice french breakfast. We would definitely return here!

Review 10:Not a hotel, can only be accessed after 5pm very unfriendly welcome bathroom access difficult could be dangerous for elderly/ guests with limited mobility

Review 11:Nice house quirky but impractical

Review 12:Access to the bathroom and bath of this particular bedroom is tricky; ask for another of the 4 bedrooms if you are no longer that nimble.

Review 13:A very nice welcome from our hostess, spacious bedroom with cinema facilities, very comfortable twin-bed and delicious French breakfast.

Review 14:Whilst it was advertised as a B&B the breakfast was not included inthe price, although the €7 charged was good value.

Review 15:A really lovely period town house with many interesting features. Wewere made very welcome by the owners, nothing was too much trouble. Avery comfortable stay.

Review 16:We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There is a genteel, atmospheric charm about the house which was immediately engaging. The bedroom was very comfortable and the public/breakfast room had just what I'd expect from a fine house of the period. The parking is very convenient. A bit of a walk is needed to get to a local restaurant, or 5 mins to the station then a metro, but it was well worth the effort to stay here. This now comes high on my personal "best places to stay" list.

Review 17:This hotel is delightful. It's more like a B&B, but on a larger scale as the house is very large and grand. The owner was very welcoming and I was made to feel at home straight away. Each room is decorated individually and you can tell a lot of thought has gone into every single detail. My room had a really comfortable bed, a wonder shower (all sorts of flow options & coloured lights!) and a terrace. I just wish I could have stayed longer! The hotel is just off a main road (where you would get the tram into Lille) and the centre of Roubaix (Grand Place, shopping, restaurants) is a 10 minute walk away. On the other side of the main road is the beautiful Parc Barbieux - perfect for walking & finding peace & quiet on warm evenings. The owner of the hotel recommended a restaurant 'Fer A Cheval' which was actually the other direction from the centre of Roubaix (about 10 mins walk again), where I was welcomed just as warmly and enjoyed a wonderful, authentic French meal. When I returned to the hotel, a guest was playing the piano in the large dining room & i really felt like I was coming home! I imagine people would choose this hotel for it's location just outside of Lille - there is a tram and also metro going into Lille from very near the hotel and I think it would take approx 15 mins to get there. However, I would advise anyone staying here to save a little time to enjoy Roubaix and all it has to offer!
