Reviews for Maison de la Garenne

Review 1:Only that I did not have an opportunity to stay longer.

Review 2:Everything. Proprietor courteous, helpful and welcoming. Room smart and comfortable. Location excellent for harbour and old town. Breakfast super. Having had a poor experience in Aix en Provence this stay more than made up.

Review 3:Christine was very welcoming and it was lovely to have the facility to make a hot drink in the room which is something we often miss travelling in France. Room was well and individually furnished and decorated with a fantastic shower in the bathroom.

Review 4:The house and the rooms were beautiful, we loved it! The kids were oven the moon; they had their own bedroom with tv and bathroom. Extremely friendly owners and personnel. Lovely private garden and breakfast with yummy croissants. Peaceful. Perfect location. We'll be back

Review 5:Our large and well-appointed room had a cute little salon with a second TV and tea kettle. I loved having a spa bath tub with color therapy! Also loved having bathrobes and amenities (toothbrush kit, shaving kit, etc.). The owners were helpful and pointed us toward a great creperie for dinner. We liked the ability to use a fridge (though we didn't have anything that needed refrigeration) and the option to have eggs for breakfast (though again, we stuck with the plentiful continental options, including amazing homemade jams!).

Review 6:Could't stay more than one night as we had gite booked from Saturday.

Review 7:Arrived early straight off 8:00am ferry arrival at Roscoff, room was ready and we had very warm welcome from the owner.

Review 8:A chest of drawers would have been a welcome addition in room.

Review 9:Great location. Could walk to historic center in Vannes in 5 minutes. Helpful, friendly hosts. Many things to see and do in area.

Review 10:Nothing, though some warm options and a little more variety at breakfast would be an addition to an already pleasant stay!

Review 11:The "maison" offered a slice of small town life in the form of a real residence in a lovely old town. Not far from the train and across from a quaint park as well as the wonderful walled town, the B&B is ideally located. The room had a sweet view of the backyard (available to guests) birds and garden and had all the basic amenities. The two young staff women were gracious and helpful and the owner very engaged and energetic. Breakfast was nice and the use of the kitchen a plus.

Review 12:The location required a good eye to find the premise. The $13 parking fee seemed unnecessary, even though a no-cost option was close by.

Review 13:Residence is located at the foot of the a Vannes central district, whip inch is beautiful. The owner was very accommodating, providing a good hello and goodbye., as well as suggestions for a downtown visit.

Review 14:Beautiful house in a fantastic location to explore Vannes. 3 minutes walk to the ramparts and 5 minutes to the port. Parking on site very secure and they even had Gluten free bread and cake for breakfast when I mentioned I have coeliac. Room was also beautifully dressed and a superb en-suite. Owners and staff were also very nice and helpful. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else if I return to Vannes.

Review 15:A bit confusing to get access into property if you arrive and the gates are closed - make sure you have phone number handy. With limited parking outside, parking onsite without charges (included in stay) would help remove the stress of staying in an 'old town' area.

Review 16:The service at Maison de Garenne was terrific from the very beginning with prompt and helpful replies to any queries. This continued on arrival. Location and surrounds were perfect, esp. with limited time available.

Review 17:nothing at all

Review 18:La Maison is very well located in a beuatiful surrounding, very close to the old town, close to the remparts, restaurants, gardens and everything. The house itself is very interesting, comfortable and elegantly furnished, cozy. Looks like we are staying with a Family. The host and hostess are extremely amiable and helpful, gave us good hints and provided everyhing we needed. Good and functional wi-fi. nice shower, bathroom, big bed. Breakfast is a treat with homemade compôte and pies. Plenty of space to park, with a decente charge per night. Had a very good time there.

Review 19:Hard to open/close lock on door into room (but probably fixed by now)

Review 20:Although located only a few hundred metres from the town, this B&B was in a lovely quiet location. Secure parking and comprehensive breakfast, comfortable bed. Friendly hosts who made you feel welcome.

Review 21:I've been lodged in many 5* Hotels all around the world and never had such a personalized service as I had in this place. I was the only guest that night and since I walked in the front door to my departure the day after, I felt as a very VIP for the family running the Hotel. Too many details to be explained in here. Just try the breakfast, it was great!!. This family are real Hoteliers!. I really had the feeling that this people had been preparing my visit since days before. Great experience.

Review 22:Very difficult to find - you must not miss the tiny turning at the roundabout. GPS was very confused. Once found, the nearby street parking was free and convenient. Lady of the house rather pressed for time. Decor perfunctory.

Review 23:Beautiful, classic French house. Excellent proximity to old town. Lovely breakfast. Nice hosts.

Review 24:leaving?

Review 25:Fantastic place, attention to detail is superb, everything works properly, immaculate condition and presentation. Great location with secure parking. The best breakfast ever served in France made me feel special.

Review 26:Perfectly French chateau, large beautiful room that was done out to a really high standard. In a good location. The owner and staff were really helpful and made u feel at home.

Review 27:An absolutely charming place to stay. Location is perfect, steps outside the walls of the city. Very spacious comfortable room with huge modern bathroom with double sinks. Lovely breakfast served each morning. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Review 28:It was unclear that parking was available on site- charged at 13 eurosper night, although we couldn't book it in advance (there isadequate space). There is free parking nearby, if you are lucky.

Review 29:Being able to use genuine family heirloom furniture and utensils.Feeling of being in a grand old mansion, but with modern appliances.Tea, coffee making equipment in room and available in shared areas too.Great attention to detail and what a situation so near to a beautifulcity but really peaceful. Thank you to the friendly hosts.

Review 30:Vannes is a lovely city well worth visiting. Maison de la Garrene is a perfect base for one's stay. Breakfast was straightforward and good. Service was excellent.

Review 31:Nothing not to like!

Review 32:Charming old house beautifully renovated with luxury bathroom shower/spa and tasteful decoration. Friendly and helpful hostess and great breakfasts. Very close to the old port and city and over the road from beautiful gardens.

Review 33:Very little. Slight irritation with parking - which costs 13 euros a day if you park at the Maison but is free if you can find a street space in the area around the house, which eventually we did.

Review 34:We liked everything about this place - its style, its quality and its location so close to the city centre. The breakfast was lovely too. Anyone staying here will love it.

Review 35:Nothing

Review 36:Apart from all the excellent's above the owners were just wonderful, if you were travelling by car there was parking and the location meant you didn't have to go through the town yet it was right outside the old city walls.

Review 37:Quiet hard to find, google maps were very accurate but the third exit on the last roundabout is quiet deciving

Review 38:We were greeted outside by the owner and given a tour of the facilities, his English was quiet good. There were coffee making facilities in the room and in the dining room, the room was spotless and very large , the furniture was antique with a very large comfortable bed. The house is a two minute walk from from a gateway into the old town.

Review 39:A quiet and tasteful B&B in the heart of Vannes. Beautiful old house and very comfortable room. The owner was very friendly and helpful with local knowledge. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 40:Beautiful room, which was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts eg. even lending me an electrical adaptor for five days when the one i brought which was meant to fit didn't. No fuss wi-fi, lovely breakfasts and very very homely, fabulous.

Review 75:Have no complaints.

Review 76:A lovely historic home with very comfortable accommodations, great staff and amenities, delicious breakfast. Perfect location for seeing the ancient walled city. Wished we were staying longer!

Review 77:Facilities could be a bit more modern, but still they were alright and we felt very confortable at this B&B. Our bedroom was at the second floor and there are no lifts available, but hosts helped with the luggage.

Review 78:Very good location, great breakfast, friendly host (with a very good level of english), we had wifi at our bedroom (not so common in France, even when advertised).

Review 79:Our room 2nd floor however we knew no lift in advance, so we took a couple of days clothes up with us, so really no problem. The great points outweighed this.

Review 80:Loved being 350m from old city and gardens. Loved private parking onsite with secure gates. Very helpful service from Antoine & Christine.

Review 81:€13 per day to park - but plenty of parking nearby

Review 82:Good location to explore Vannes. Staff very helpful and informative. Medieval town and harbour easy stroll from B&B. Staff Keen to help us get the best out of our stay in Vannes. Good choice of French continental breakfast items with home made jams and pancakes. Fresh cooked eggs and toast available too. Tea and coffee in room and use of kitchenette to make fresh coffee tea and snacks - nice touch. Library well stocked with info about local attractions. Bed very comfortable and bedroom spacious and well equipped. Overall, extremely good value for money and a little treasure of a place.

Review 83:This is a fantastic home run by a lovely couple. The location is an easy walk into town and the on-site parking works well. The room was stunning and you will not enjoy a better breakfast in France. It worries us to admit that if you are going to Vannes....then this is THE place to stay. We just hope you have not booked for the next time we wish to visit!!

Review 84:What a charming maison bourgeoise! It felt very special and like being at someone's home, with the added bonus of a discret service and peaceful corner of Vannes, though being within minutes from the harbour and the old town. It was perfect for us! A very rare gem.

Review 85:Bit surprised that I was charged Euro 13 per night to park my car in the drive.

Review 86:Staff, rooms and facilities for a B&B are exceptional. Breakfast much better than expected in France. Great choice and excellent service.

Review 87:Only one small problem, which was that we found the front door difficult to open with the key we were given! Obviously needs practice and the knack!

Review 88:Charming and helpful hosts. Very comfortable room in lovely family house - very quiet too. Location excellent as within walking distance of centre and restaurants, and not far from the hospital where we had an appointment early the next morning. Parking was easy and nearby - essential as we had our dog with us! We look forward to another visit in the future.

Review 89:Nothing - it was perfect!
