Reviews for Clarion Hotel Château Belmont Tours

Review 1:The swimming pool needs to be updated. The modern building doesn't have any charm.

Review 2:Don't expect to sleep in a "chateau", inspite of the name of the hotel. There is an historic building (for the restaurant and the bar), but the bedrooms are located in a modern and quite bland building. The good point is that it's new, but you could be in any chain hotel once in the bedroom.

Review 3:A leakage in the bathroom The coffre/tea machine was out of order The wifi connection worked really bad

Review 4:Restaurant even if expensive and no attention from the waiters

Review 5:Dinner service was extremely slow. Not customer focused. Most staff did not speak sufficient english. The entrance to the property was sometimes difficult to maneuver due to the narrow tight turn required combined with busses and service vehicles blocking entry as well.

Review 6:Property was beautiful

Review 7:There is nothing to report!

Review 8:This is one of the nicest hotels in Tours, with amazing staff. We have stopped here numerous times and have never been disappointed. The restaurant is amazing, and have accommodated my dietary requirements.

Review 9:Rather a long walk to the centre of Tours (15 minutes or so).

Review 10:Beautiful setting, excellent restaurant for dinner (didn't have breakfast), comfortable rooms with excellent bathrooms.

Review 11:Very quiet location - description said in town but certainly not in the main part of town. On our first day it rained and the hotel only had one umbrella available which was broken and this was annoying for sightseeing on a wet day because the hotel was not in easy walking distance of shops - the other hotel we stayed at in Amboise had a container full of umbrellas for guests! Hotel seemed to be full of elderly people and we wondered if part of the new build was being used as a retirement home.

Review 12:Staff were doing a good job.

Review 13:Found the restaurant very disappointing and the quality of food not up to expected standard. Although the appetisers were good, both out main courses were poor, the fish cold, very undercooked and inedible.

Review 14:Beautiful room, large and airy, yet ground floor great for dogs. Beautiful grounds to wander round, but quite difficult to find.

Review 15:A tranquil oasis of calm, a short taxi or tram ride, or a pleasant five minute walk, from the cobbled atmospheric squares and narrow streets of Tours. The gardens are beautiful with a lovely pond and mature trees, and the staff extremely friendly and welcoming. Easy secure parking directly outside - the Chateau is gated and secure. The bedrooms in the main building were not large, but the bathrooms beautifully appointed and luxurious. The beds were extremely comfortable and the duvets gorgeous. Regrets we did not sample the breakfast which looked great.

Review 16:The staff, in particular Anne Charlotte who went out of her way to help us. She was very pleasant and made us feel so very welcome. We were so lucky to have met her on our arrival.

Review 17:Pretentious hotel that's poor value for money. Cooking is mediocre and overpriced. An over-cooked tuna steak was sent back to the kitchen to be cooked again in exactly the same fashion. Restaurant staff were arrogant and one of the receptionist was hostile and moody. Second floor rooms are comfortable but cramped. The swimming pool is small and lukewarm, just suitable for a quick dip, and neither the sauna or the hammam were switched on.

Review 18:Nothing.

Review 19:The hotel is set away from the town about 20 mins walk, however all you want is here. A spa allows you to unwind and relax and can be followed by a superb meal from the restaurant. In our case we ate on the terrace in the garden.

Review 20:Nothing to dislike

Review 21:We had a lovely suite that spacious and comfortable. We decided to have room service because we had our large labradoodle staying in the room with us. Room service was delicious. Had a luxurious facial and the staff treated us very well. Highly recommend and would like to return for another visit.

Review 22:The cost of breakfast. The lack of cooking utensils. We booked this hotel specifically so we could self cater And really struggled to do so. No tourist info available. Very little info in room about hotel facilities. Not a chateaux - buildings added on.

Review 23:The size of the room and the little balcony. The pool. The fact that we didn't have to use the car . Could tram or walk to tours.

Review 24:The AC in the room was not properly working, though we notified the reception many times. Fortunately, the weather was cool at night, but this is worth mentioning

Review 25:The location of the hotel is ideal in a secluded quiet garden, the rooms are very spacious as are the bathroom (We were upgraded to a superior room), wonderful breakfast area and selection of items, very friendly staff, great value for money

Review 26:Service in the restaurant was slow. The staff did not cope well at dinner even though the restaurant was only half full.

Review 27:Very comfortable room in annexe, very clean and a great space for families. Lovely garden surroundings and indoor swimming pool for the children.

Review 28:Restaurant - limited choices and slow service - some food was excellent other food was very poor (tomato and mozzarella starter!)

Review 29:Junior suite - well equipped, comfortable and quiet. Nice grounds. Good location - 10 mins walk into town

Review 30:The location is somewhat inconvenient. You need to ride a tram to go to the town center, and there is nothing around the hotel. So it was inconvenient to go back and forth between the town center and the hotel. I also thought the staff were somewhat aloof and unfriendly.

Review 31:This is a converted Chateau, so it is a nice-looking hotel. The room was large, tastefully-decorated, and well-appointed. It even had a kitchenette; although we didn't use it, it would be useful for some. The nice garden was a plus.

Review 32:No kids menu.

Review 33:The perfect place to spend our last night on holiday. The kids could wander in the park and swim in the pool whilst we chilled in the sauna.

Review 34:On our arrival the Gate was not operational so it wouldn't let us in. Entry into this hotel fits one car, and is One way only. If you miss it, it's not easy to get back. We ended u coming in to the deliveries entrance - not the best look for our first impression of this facility - felt like a retirement village.

Review 35:The rooms were good, and the grounds and dining was very good.

Review 36:Could not see into wardrobe, requires better lighting in that area.

Review 37:Room size and storage good. Bulb blew in bathroom and was fixed within half an hour. Restaurant menu good and food excellent.

Review 38:The modern wing of the hotel lacks character but it's a minor gripe.

Review 39:Affordable luxury in Tours. The junior suite was very spacious, well appointed and bright. And clean too. The evening meal at the hotel restaurant was pretty good too. Excellent value for money.

Review 40:Gardens were lovely but could be better kept. No milk supplied for the coffee machine. No dogs in the restaurant but OK on the terrace.

Review 41:The evening meal we had was delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal and great service too in a very busy restaurant. Our room was upgraded which was lovely for us as it was our last night of our holiday in France. Gardens great convenience for those of us travelling with a dog.

Review 42:We were slightly late arrivals for breakfast and there were so many guests it was a little difficult to find utensils etc.

Review 43:Although slightly tricky to find (largely due to Tom Tom's out of date SatNav) it was certainly worth the search. This is a beautiful hotel set in lovely parklands. It looks like it was a converted chateau, with additional buildings in the parkland which seemed to be private apartments. The facilites were very good and the food was outstanding.

Review 44:Location of the hotel is away from the town centre. A short walk from the hotel there is a tram service into the town that runs until midnight.

Review 45:Booked last minute and given room 007, room was large and very nicely decorated. Unfortunately the AirCon wasn't working and with an outside temp of 32C, I headed to reception for the problem to sorted, told nothing they could do! Made a stronger complaint and was moved to a small room with A/C that worked I needed A/C more than space so I was happy. Very nice hotel with a lovely outside dining area and some very nicely decorated public areas. Dinner was very good value with an excellent selection of well prepared dishes which deserved a proper tablecloth and napkins rather than the paper place setting and serviette.

Review 46:Slightly outside town centre, limited restaurants within walking distance, room service slow and haphazard.

Review 47:Quiet hotel, lovely room and grounds and very helpful staff.

Review 48:The tour bus pulling in the same time we arrived. I thought I was booking a little boutique hotel, not realizing it had an addition making it quite a large property.

Review 49:The older portion of the hotel, the grounds, and most of all the staff. The people working at the hotel were charming and helpful, really making our stay enjoyable. They found us exactly the right rooms, helped us organize bikes and luggage transfers, and just made it easy for us to relax.

Review 50:We found the food in the restaurant a bit "pretentious". Ok for me, but my husband struggled to find things he wanted to eat.

Review 51:Room was nice and spacious

Review 52:Quiet location but the tram service to & from the centre was excellent, all the staff talked English, the room was spotless and roomy, breakfast was excellent plenty of choice.

Review 53:Restricted wine list and quite expensive

Review 54:The staff were very efficient, professional and helpful The food was good and well presented The bed was very comfortable The grounds were extensive and well maintained

Review 55:I would have liked more information about the hotel and spa's facilities in the room. Information was readily available but had to ask for it. This is not a serious criticism as it gave more opportunity to speak to lovely staff!

Review 56:The spaciousness and facilities of the room, the cleanliness and comfort throughout the hotel & spa, all ensured a delightful stay. All staff were infailingly helpful and pleasant. The hotel's location near the city, very near the Loire river, makes it a very good base to visit the Loire area but also allow you to leave the car and use the excellent transport systems in Tours.

Review 57:We did not end up eating breakfast there. Unsure if it was an 'in between restocking time' that we arrived in the restaurant but selection was very poor in our opinion and we chose to go elsewhere.

Review 58:Staff were great - spoke excellent English and very helpful. Rooms comfortable and clean. A little distance from town which did have the advantage of tranquility and trams were available at a short walk.

Review 59:music at breakfast too loud and too weird- i like to gather my thoughts at the beginning of a day, not have them drowned out.

Review 60:peace & calm so near the centre of a great city, well appointed rooms, very comfortable bed.

Review 61:The welcome and efficiency of reception. Th ambience, view, comfort and decoration of our room. The quality of food in the restaurant. The raid respmnse of room service.

Review 62:restaurant staff asking what you would like to drink & walking away before we had ordered. French people definitely received better service which we saw on several occasions

Review 63:surroundings & secure car parking,+ spa, restauant excellent food

Review 64:There are three distinct dining rooms. One also has the lift entrance and the ambience of the second is slightly spoilt at dinner by the large tables at one end standing empty, waiting for the breakfast buffet.

Review 65:Good-sized comfortable room and lovely gardens, shared with the occupants of the old people's home. Swimming pool, steam room and 'gym' are all shared facilities. Food is of good quality and well presented.

Review 66:Would have preferred a more intimate bar area for a quiet drink The pool was very nice but restricted

Review 67:Access by public transport is good involving only a short walk. Our meal on the first night was very nice

Review 68:My room unexpectedly had a lovely coffee machine, microwave, hob, fridge and even a toaster - BUT no way to make tea! All those things and no tea. A kettle and some tea bags would make all the difference, the English like their tea!

Review 69:The dinner was excellent, the staff tried hard to accommodate me at a more discreet table as is my preference when travelling alone. The food was delicious and everything just right. Breakfast in my room was also just right. Just no tea in my room, English people like tea and it's simple to provide!

Review 70:Can not find anything to moan about.

Review 71:Lovely hotel, very good room, 9, great WIFI etc, use the tram to town so the location is OK, we did not eat there, too stuffy, try the restaurant directly arcoss for Hotel De Ville, very good. Did not use swimming pool - water a tad too hot, lots of old folk sitting around as there is an old peoples complex there. Staff were very helpful and even supplied a kettle - bouilloire. Would stay again, .

Review 72:Found the quality of breakfast food out of keeping with the standard of how this type of hotel presents its self.

Review 73:The hotel was in a quiet, relaxing and pleasant location. Excellent evening Dinner.

Review 74:I think that the portrayal of this hotel on Booking.com is extremely misleading. The reality is not as pictured. We paid over the top price for a "junior suite" - no complimentary water, biscuits etc. Most of the accommodation is in what can only be described as Industrial units; very, very disappointed . Would not recommend . Me thinks" Emperor's New Clothes"

Review 75:The hotel is situated in a large garden on the edge of Tours. About a 15 minute walk into the old city. Rooms are of the modern style. Functional without much character. But quite comfortable and a good size, especially the suites. The dining room is situated in the old manor building and has no real style. The food for breakfast was fine with a reasonable choice. Dinner was good. But there are better options for eating in the old town. Parking is excellent. The gardens are lovely. The shower was rather small. Acceptable, but only just. Bathroom only had one vanity, but plenty of space and a bath. Not a cheap hotel, but comfortable and clean and secure.

Review 76:We got from the hotel the info that we can buy tram tickets directly in the tram. That was not the case, we ended up getting a fine....not that nice. So it was either wrong info provided or bad English.

Review 77:We enjoyed the atmosphere of the hotel. Good breakfast, very nice terace. Rooms are very large and bed quite comfortable. We were travelling with our 18 months old daughter, and the room was large enough to accomodate the baby bed.

Review 78:There is also a retirement apartment complex alongside the hotel so it felt a strange set up. Whilst the old people were lovely, you felt you were invading their space. Also whilst the restaurant staff were friendly and helpful they insisted on speaking English despite us speaking to them in French. Also French customers appeared to receive better service for example having a whole cheese board rolled out to them to make their selection as opposed to the tourists being given a plate with a random cheese selection already on it.

Review 79:Family suite was good size and separate bedroom was a nice surprise Restaurant food was a very high standard and wine selection was also good.

Review 80:parking at the hotel is just awful. its a mad dash for any free space as thee seems to be no proper carpark. it was pouring with rain when we arrived and there was no offer of umbrellas to help us whilst we unloaded the car. there seemed to be a lot of elderly people in dressing gowns wandering about the place which was a little odd. the restaurant was too expensive. breakfast was awful - we had to ask twice for plates / dishes to be restocked. wifi did not work when we arrived.

Review 81:a nice hotel, rooms were comfortable and clean. ok for a stopover en route.

Review 82:It was a 24 hour trip for my husband's birthday, and it truly could not have been better in any way...from the fantastic chateau suite, brilliant staff, lovely food and calm surroundings. Marvellous!

Review 83:Ultra-luxury comes at a steep price, but it was worth it.

Review 84:Clean, spacious room (junior suite in the chateau); lovely grounds; excellent restaurant; quiet residential neighbourhood with easy access to historic sites (one block to tram)

Review 85:The meals were very slow and often we would need some service and we had to wait. The staff was very attentive, but often not available.

Review 86:Location and room comfort.

Review 87:Next time we will stay longer!

Review 88:We arrived at the hotel later than we had hoped, at 9pm, and without dinner reservations but the restaurant still managed to fit us in, and the food was absolutely superb! Even the steak hache from the kids menu was delicious, properly made from good steak. We really had such a lovely meal. Our family room was large, modern and well appointed, with a small galley kitchen and a separate bedroom room for the children. The breakfast was good, with the usual cereals, juices, yoghurt, breads, preserves, pastries, and a selection of cold meats and cheese. We only stayed one night on our way back to the UK, but will absolutely be back again. We were particularly greatful for the secure on site parking, and having a swim in the pool before setting-off again the next morning. And finally, the lovely staff have been wonderfuly helpful in arranging the return of a number of items that I left in our room!

Review 89:From the outside the new room blocks look soul-less, but everything else makes up for that manyfold

Review 90:Facilities, rooms, food (wonderful), staff and so easy to find

Review 91:Was situated too far from town to be able to walk from hotel. We did know this was going to be an issue but the fact we could park our car and use it to drive to town. Would be quests need to be aware of the locality however when thinking of booking.

Review 92:This hotel is set in quiet grounds, and also has spa facilities. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was for the parking facility. We had a room which had a small balcony overlooking the grounds, it was well appointed, a little small but certainly comfortable. Linens and towels very nice. Good size bathroom. We had a lovely meal in the outside area of the restaurant.

Review 93:Very nice room, bright clean, big comfortable bed and modern bathroom. Loads of on-site parking. Quiet, pretty grounds. reasonable choice in restaurant. Not haute cuisine but good quality and very good service.

Review 94:Only "proper" lunch available, no lighter bites. It was delicious though!

Review 95:Lovely room with comfy bed and separate loo. Great breakfast buffet. Dog welcomed, lovely grounds to walk him in. A very short walk to new tramline into central Tours - or a nice walk if you prefer.

Review 96:Didn't get to stay in the Chateau section. Missed the restaurant hours, and had to quickly order food from the room service menu. This place is far from city center with no stores around it.

Review 97:Comfortable room, sitting on the terrace with view of the garden, and hearing the sound of frogs in the pond. Courteous staff. Good accommodation for business seminars. Three additional newer buildings were built on this property and it looked like one housed extended living for seniors.

Review 98:The house keeping service missed to place coffee in the room for 2 days. The address information from booking leads the GPS to a different destination and caused confusion.

Review 99:The location is good. Hotel layout with the garden is excellent. Thefront desk staff speaks fluent English.

Review 100:Having to leave the hotel and Tours!!

Review 101:The staff were very friendly and assisted me with all my requests. The hotel location and grounds are exceptional with the beautiful gardens and outside eating area.

Review 102:This was an oasis in the big city of Tours. We wanted a central location to visit the Chateaux and it turned out to be perfect if you have a car and GPS. We enjoyed the grounds which were in a park and our accommodations were very nice. We had a room in the original building. Although it was small it was clean and modern with lovely decor. We did not choose to have the breakfast as it was 21 euros which we thought to be expensive. We did dine in the restaurant one evening and it was a much better value for dinner. The food was good, but that evening the service was off due to a larger party they were catering to. They did make amends though by not charging us for any of our drinks. Other than that our stay was here was very nice and the location was good.

Review 103:Service was hit and miss - some staff were super friendly and helpful while others were actually downright unpleasant.

Review 104:For French standards, the room was large and comfy room and came with a mini-fridge.

Review 105:The fact that we didn't have time to try the pool and other leisure facilities, one night was not enough

Review 106:Restaurant food fantastic, atmosphere relaxed, beautiful grounds. We have two dogs and the hotel was very dog friendly and the large grounds were a bonus

Review 107:The breakfast was not good value for money. However the facilities in the rooms more than compensated.

Review 108:The rooms were spacious ,comfortable and well equipped.

Review 109:Exit button for security gates when leaving in vehicle is very low meaning one has to get out to reach down to activate it. Not good for people with bad backs.

Review 110:Hotel close to town centre. Upgraded to a suite, spacious & had kitchen facilities so one could cook in room. Restaurant menu changed weekly, plenty of choice & food delicious. Large seating area. Staff most helpful & Wi-Fi fast!! Grounds are lovely to walk round.

Review 111:Nothing

Review 112:We travel with 2 small dogs, the setting is perfect, lovely woodland gardens to walk them, the car at the door, attentive and decent food. Will definately stay again.

Review 113:A very warm welcome, friendly helpful staff, Really good restaurant and room. Lovely gardens and good parking. 10 minutes walking distance from the city. Already recommended to friends.

Review 114:The bed linen while great quality, no top sheet so only a heavy duvet. Also no tap water at restaurant

Review 115:The service from the moment we were greeted was the best we have experienced.

Review 116:my friends us arrvoed in tqwo sports cars and the kerb that you have to drove over to get into the hotel ripped my number plate off. Also the hote is really badly signposted and hard to find. Apart from that it was fine. good breakfast.

Review 117:Breakfast appalling 19 euros each! Coffee service very bad. Coach parties had ravaged all the food and we were left with a wholly inadequate buffet and awful coffee

Review 118:Everthing but the coach parties

Review 119:Upgraded on arrival. Excellent service all round. Perfect walking distance to enjoy beautiful city of Tours

Review 120:No English breakfast tea in room.

Review 121:Size of room and bed!

Review 122:articles for kitchen ......very limited

Review 123:Comfort

Review 124:Beautiful Chateau, highly recommend, amazing attentive bi-lingual staff 10/10

Review 125:A good hotel meriting its 4* , a little further removed from the centre than we had imagined

Review 126:Fantastic food and good wine list

Review 127:It is a high quality hotel in beautiful surroundings

Review 128:The room was wonderful and the grounds were beautiful. Breakfast was great

Review 129:Location

Review 130:Room a bit too small but good bathroom.

Review 131:Loved the garden and restaurant. Staff delightful there but excellent and helpful on reception also.

The Fine Print

Please note that the spa area will be closed during the month of November 2014.
