Reviews for Gite Chez Marcel

Review 1:You access the apartment by two long, steep, curving staircases, not sogood for older folk with luggage. Madame Marianne was very obliging, buthas very little English. She does not live nearby, so unless you have apretty good grasp of French it would be a struggle to make arrangementsby phone for her to deliver the key at an appointed time, and getinstructions from her on-site about local issues ... rubbish, shops, parking etc.

Review 2:Delightful village, gracious and attentive hostess, ample parkingnearby, [buy a permit from the Mairie for euro 3/day] kitchen andbathroom modernised to highest standards. Air-conditioned throughout, which was a godsend in the nasty heatwave the region experienced inearly July 2015.Fabulous walks in nearby vineyards and hills. Eat at La Grappe d'Or Restaurant .. fabbo!

Review 3:The lack of WiFi was a little problematic for us at this time and payment had to be made in advance by bank transfer only. The town was also basically shut over January.

Review 4:The location of this Gite is excellent, right in the center of Riquewihr, and the comfort level is very high. Nice modern bathroom and kitchen and comfortable accommodation for four. The owner Marianne was extremely nice and easy to deal with.

Review 5:An excellent location for our family of 4 including two teenage girls. We stayed for 3 nights and walked through the vineyards to nearby villages each day. The apartment felt like a home away from home, the village is beautiful, and we would highly recommend staying at Gite Chez Marcel.Marianne is a caring and excellent host.

Review 6:amazing location with great house including all the facilities.

Review 7:Nothing.

Review 8:Everything.

Review 9:Bed in the small room is a bit short for someone 1.90 m tall

Review 10:Apartment, kitchen, owner, location, silence, parking, landscapes around

Review 11:Wifi would be great

Review 12:Amazing medieval apartment in a medieval village Fantastic and personal service

Review 13:No, we loved it!

Review 14:The apartment was beautiful and in a fantastic location. It was very clean and had everything we needed. Very tastefully decorated with lots of traditional features. We travelled with our (nearly) 3 year old and there was a cot and small selection of toys available in his room. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. There are many family friendly places to visit, just a short drive away such as the stork sanctuary, butterfly garden and monkey mountain.

Review 15:Marianne and husband are two lovely persons, very friendly and helpful. Beautiful place with good facilities in excellent location in beautiful village. We will definitely book there again if in the area. Thank you very much..

Review 16:We stayed in Riquewihr before and wanted to come back but wanted to stay in a local house instead of a hotel. This Gite was great. Historic, clean, very nicely decorated, great location. Quiet doesn't begin to describe it. Our host Marianne was very friendly . Being extremely limited speakers of French, Google Translate was used in email communications which worked well. Yes there are stairs to climb but it was not an issue for us. We were on the third and fourth floor. The town of Ribeauville (2 miles away) has a grocery store (store name LeClerc. they gave excellent fresh bread and pastries) if you need food and such and are open at 8AM. Otherwise if you can wait for the local shops to open, purchase your meats, bread and cheese for dally lunches there. We would stay at this location again in a heart beat.

Review 17:There wasn't anything not to like, everything was great. The addition of a large chef's knife, a grater and a small strainer would make the kitchen tool selection perfect.

Review 18:This historic house was a museum previously to private ownership. The owners are as sweet and charming as the building, which is right out of a fairytale, located in the heart of one of the most beautiful villages in Alsace. The house , kitchen and bath are thoughtfully set up to function for visitors upon arrival with all the basics one needs. Fantastic place, highly recommended for everybody, including families with kids. There is no internet connection, and there are several flights of stairs, but if that's not a problem for you, you will love this amazing house, and will bring home fond memories of your stay to last you a life time.

Review 19:We loved everything! However, if you have a physical handicap and can't go up and down stairs, this apartment isn't for you.

Review 20:The renovation of the apartment is beautiful and it is so clean! We loved the little artistic and personal touches and the location was fabulous inside the old walled city of Riquewihr. The old furniture chests are beautiful, yet the up-dates are very modern and convenient!

Review 21:Within walls of city where driving is restricted. Parking is just 50m away through gate in walled city. Everything you need in a house. Makes you feel a part of the city.

Review 22:No wi-fi available.

Review 23:The owner, Marianne, was so kind and helpful. Size of apartment was fine.

Review 24:Fantastic location! Cozy and confortable but with modern facilities (bathroom, kitchen). Highly recommend it!!
