Reviews for Hotel Mondial
Review 1:Small warnings:- (1)Parking nearby can be tricky. If arriving at 4pm-ish you can be lucky and get a space in the square, but you may need to go round the square and surrounding streets a few times before you can get a space. (There is 24hr underground parking by the river, though). (2)No lift, so if your room is on the top floor you have 85 stairs to go up from street level! (3)Supplied toiletries are basic. (But it is a 2* Hotel so not unexpected).
Review 2:Our 2nd stay here. Friendly & helpful reception (desk not manned 24/7 so front door access code was supplied). Our room was excellent; a good size, with extra bed, easy chair, and desk with 2 chairs. They were really good furnishings & decor, very nice bathroom. Good French breakfast in an attractive room overlooking the Place de la Resistance. Perfectly situated on an attractive square midway between Place Plumereau and Rue Nationale. Overall, the quality of the hotel was well in excess of what one might expect from a stated 2* category.
Review 3:Be aware that there is no elevator and reception is on the "second" floor and your room may be up another flight. Not good if you have a lot of luggage or mobility issues. Also, carefully check reception hours of operation.
Review 4:The room was spacious, bright and clean. Breakfast was well supplied for a continental offering.
Review 5:- it smelled of sewega very badly on our floor (we had to keep windows open whole night) - it would be better if owners spoke English a little better
Review 6:- it was very reasonably priced
Review 7:Hard to believe it's only 2-star. Clean, well-appointed room, very good bed(s). Excellent location, half way between Place Plumereau (old town) and Rue Nationale. Pleasant, helpful, friendly & efficient multilingual staff. Parking in the Place de la Resistance (payant, but free overnight 18:30 - 09:00).
Review 8:Nothing.
Review 9:We arrived jet lagged so it was nice that the staff spoke good english. The room was small but comfortable. It was easy walking distance to everything we needed (the train station, the bike shop, restaurants).
Review 10:Schlepping luggage up to 4th floor. Slight smell in bathroom as shredder toilet.
Review 11:Great location and helpful receptionist. Really comfortable bed. Unfussy decor.
Review 12:The rooms and reception are situated on first floor need to carry luggage up on stairs as there is no lift. Strange toilets with lot of noise when flossing.
Review 13:Very good location with posibility for parking. Very friendly staff
Review 14:card authorization slip should be shown to customer when check in for customer securities.
Review 15:Staff try to be as nice as possible even if he sighed sometimes. He is still very helpful.
Review 16:Nothing serious I can think off
Review 17:Excellent central location with recently decorated room which felt comfortable, spacious and light. WiFi was quite usable too which is a plus.
Review 18:Not really a complaint but...... advertised as having kettle in room but you need to ask at reception.Guests particularly from UK would expect a hospitality tray if mentioned in hotel information. We found the kitchen and helped ourselves but shouldn't have done...the helpful young man on reception brought a tray of (our tea and coffee sachets) drinks to our room instead!!!! (not normal preocedure!)
Review 19:Good access for old town. Large rooms and very light and airy. Complied with our request to have adjacent rooms. Extremely helpful receptionist and very welcoming.
Review 20:Parking was a bit of a lottery; no lift. If you have difficulty walking or using stairs, warn in advance
Review 21:Terrific location; clean and comfortable hotel
Review 22:It took really long for the water to turn warm. Because I don't like spillage it really hurt that I had to keep the shower running for 5 minutes before being able to get in. Secondly The breakfast was ok but no fresh things like fruit and the muesli was all sugared which I don't like for breakfast.
Review 23:The beds and pillows were amazing!
Review 24:Great location, beautiful old building yet close to rue nationale and trams. Staff were friendly and helpful and parking available in the square outside which was free overnight so great if you plan to go sightseeing by car during the day.
Review 25:The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating, both with flexibility of arriving and leaving, and with assistance with printing forms online on their office computer. Much appreciated.
Review 26:Noise as bars in the vicinity closed around midnight
Review 27:Room with balcony.location. Parking in the square below the hotel although you need to feed the meter
Review 28:Two flights of stairs with suitcases was the only down side. Only a minor inconvenience though.
Review 29:Excellent location within walking distance of centre and attractions. Great room overlooking cafes and bars.
Review 30:Old towels, smell/odor is not good..please renew them for your clients. No elevator as most of the France hotels.
Review 31:Location, long ceilings, design of the room. Did not have breakfast so no comment.
Review 32:Kamer voor 1 persoon is klein, sanitair stelde niet veel voor.
Review 33:De ligging was perfect.
Review 34:Be patient to get hot water and for it to drain away from bath.
Review 35:Location perfect. Parking in the square opposite hotel was free overnight(until 9am)
Review 36:there was no lift and I was on crutches but I knew this when booking
Review 37:location is fantastic room looked over the square - it was really perfect
Review 38:Nice position, the staff was nice and the room clean.
Review 39:no elevator. poor wifi
Review 40:good location. very friendly staff. good breakfast
Review 41:Very nice and welcoming staff. Perfect location Close to shopping and restaurants, plus very easy, cheap and accessible parking.
Review 42:Very friendly, helpful welcome. Free parking in the square outside (at weekends). Nice breakfast room with windows overlooking the square.
Review 43:Godd loceted in the centre of tours. Very close to the bars an restaurants, but also to the river Loire
Review 44:No elevator, no Air con, no reception in certain times of the day.
Review 45:Good location to visit the old town center, 5mn walk. Parking outside the hotel.
Review 46:The only drawback is that the hotel seems to have no lift, and you have to carry your luggage several flights of stairs to reach the reception desk/your room. (But this is only a minor issue if you are not a frail person).
Review 47:We had a very nice room, the location was absolutely excellent - right between both city centers of the very nice town of Tours - around the cathedral/old Roman town and the old city (around St. Martin's basilica) with its night life, respectively. The staff was friendly, breakfast was fine as well.
Review 48:With the windows open- this was the noisest hotel we have ever stayed in. Avoid room 16 in the summer as you need the windows open but Tours is clearly a city that never sleeps and you won't either in this room
Review 49:the location and parking were convienent to the center of town and the airport
Review 50:A little bit pricey for a decidely non-luxury hotel.
Review 51:By only being a stones throw away from the lively and picturesque Place de Plumereau, the location, which is at the heart of old Tours, is a definitely good reason for choosing this hotel. The public parking which is in the square overlooked by the hotel is also good. We arrived on a Friday evening and were able to park without problem. We were expecting noise from the nightclub which adjoins the hotel, especially being a Friday night, however the night passed peacefully.
Review 52:The room smelled like mildew. It was hard to communicate with thereception staff as they didn't all speak English. The person whochecked us in spoke absolutely no English at all and it was verydifficult to communicate. There is no elevator, which the Hotel states, however, it doesn't state that the reception is on the second floor,so you have to go up at least 2 flights of stairs and that there are 4floors and you could possibly be walking up 4 flights of stairs. Therooms are not soundproofed. We could hear everything outside our room, even if it was a door closing. It also seemed like the plumbing forother rooms ran through our bathroom, so each time someone else flushedthe toilet in another room, we could hear it. There is no soundproofingfrom the street front either. We could hear people talking and drinkinguntil all hours of the morning.
Review 53:In a good location, Old town within walking distance There is a publicparking lot directly outside in the square in front of the hotel
Review 54:Rooms very basic no kettle. Smelt musty and unused. Was not told parkingwas unavailable before I got to the hotel, would have been a nightmareif I had taken my car in.
Review 55:The receptionist was very nice.
Review 56:No opening windows in room no lift reception desk not often open stingyon soap, toilet paper and towels Too close to night clubs Hotel roomsnot well insulated enough from noise
Review 57:Very clean Very nice décor Close to restaurants and shops Closeto Old Tours
Review 58:My sister and I shared room 31 and this is what we found. A room carpeted in wicker matting murder on bare feet, one small bar of soap for sink and tub (we had to ask for another bar when the first one was reduced to a sliver), toilet paper that was not replaced (we had to ask for more), two very small threadbare bath towels and only one hand towel, two small plastic glasses one of which did not hold liquids (we borrowed ceramic coffee cups from the dining area that were replaced the following morning with one small plastic glass - we had to wash out and reuse the same glasses for three days), a reception area that is staffed from only 7:30 am til noon and from 4 pm til 8 pm (so don't try checking in at any other time), a breakfast with breads and butter but no knives for the butter, no wifi in room 31 (it's FOUR flights up (no lift!) under the roof so the signal can't reach it) in spite of the hotel's promotional material claiming that there is free wifi "sur tout l'hotel", no ice or fridge or any way to chill a bottle of Loire Valley vin blanc, the partiers who hung out in the square in front of the hotel each night until after 3:00 am.
Review 59:The location, though it was very noisy even on the top floor.
Review 60:Breakfast need some "upgrade".
Review 61:Position, public parking in front of the hotel, friendly staff.
Review 62:Stairs!!!
