Reviews for Hôtel le Saint Nicolas

Review 1:Beautiful village surrounded by vineyards. Love the restaurants and tasting the wines and cheese. People are really friendly and willing to give you information. Awesome 3 hour hike to 3 castles only 10 min. drive from the village.

Review 2:It's obvious an old building will not have a lift and the tiled, winding stairs to the first floor could be difficult for some. Parking (6 euro/day) was located 150 m away which seemed longer when bringing luggage to the hotel.

Review 3:Very quaint hotel located within the old city walls down a narrow cobbled lane way. Room 15 was bright with 3 windows and it had a bathtub. Fast wi-fi internet in the common lounge seating area. Reception spoke good English.

Review 4:The mattress was too hard and gave me a painful backache! The bathroom has no ventilation and therefore smells of urine

Review 5:Staff very helpful and pleasant

Review 6:The staff were very friendly, it was in a very convenient location and our room was very comfortable and a good size. Excellent value for money. We also had a very tasty supper.

Review 7:Only one key for two of us but... ok, we have to understand since it is an old hotel. I wish there was wifi access in our room.

Review 8:Friendly staff. Nice location. Old and beautiful building.

Review 9:The town of Riquewihr was more touristy than I had hoped - not quite the same sleepy Alsace experience we'd had up to that point in our trip. If you like knick-knacks and Christmas ornaments, this is a good place.

Review 10:Perfect out-of-the-way site in a rather touristy, bustling town. The place was absolutely quiet, comfortable, clean, staff was helpful and proper.

Review 11:Old building with walls that transfer sounds easily - TV in other room at 5.30 am was not welcome.

Review 12:Staff was extremely friendly, breakfast great, location is excellent

Review 13:The breakfast was not worth €10.50. The wifi was poor and you could only connect in the lounge area.

Review 14:Great location, beautiful building with friendly staff

Review 15:The hotel perfect location, walking distance to parking .The owner service minded and friendly. The town of Riquewihr extremely beautiful-our favourite town. We will definitely be back. Very good breakfast.

Review 16:The shower room was cramped for anyone above average build though the room, on the attic floor, was so cute we loved it anyway. Reserved parking was an uphill walk from the hotel making transfering bags a little awkward

Review 17:Perfect position at the top of town. Picturesque building with beamed bedrooms. Friendly, helpful staff even when very busy. Good wifi connection in lounge. Excellent breakfast.

Review 18:No wifi in the bedroom.

Review 19:Big double room. Helpful lady staff who allowed us to use the bedroom toilet after checking out in the morning of 15 July 2015.

Review 20:The breakfast was okey but hardly worth the price. The room was really hot, but we had a heat wave, so that was not the fault of the hotel. The beds were not very comfortable.

Review 21:The location is excellent, close to everything and with parking spaces close by. The family room was spacious.

Review 22:It was very hot outside and with no aircon, it would have been nice to have a fan to move the air in the room.

Review 23:Great location and facilities were clean an neat. Good value for money.

Review 24:nothing

Review 25:the central position for the town The bedrooms were delightful The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Private parking is reserved for you nearby

Review 26:The inhospitality, which extended to the breakfast hostess.

Review 27:Our initial room had a dreadful chemical odor that persisted, even after opening windows and using a fan. This was in the mid-afternoon. We requested a room change and were denied by a rude and rigid male desk clerk, who said that we could not have a different room 'for free'. By 9 pm he changed his mind and told us that there was, indeed, a room that we could have, but we would have to pay a 5 euro cleaning charge for the initial room. We paid the fee since a stay in the room was untenable.

Review 28:Parking a bit difficult, but should not deter visitors as the charm of the place is worth the inconvenience.

Review 29:Although the town is a magnet for tourists, we were never made to feel thus. Welcoming feel about the hotel and the place. People very helpful and friendly.

Review 30:Not sure. I put our bus driver up there and he liked it a lot.

Review 31:Breakfast was OK, compared with the other places in town. Nice bed and room. Great location.

Review 32:The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The room was lovely very spacious clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful and coffee freshly made. It was a pleasure to stay here and I would certainly recommend it

Review 33:- Cant park in front of the hotel, unless u pay and reserve for a private patking.. anyway u have to pay for public parking outside the wall too then u have to carry ur luggages for a few mins walk. - first night was very noisy as the isolation was very bad in old wooden buildings. You can hear very clearly someone walking upstair.. but the second was quiet as nobody was up. - no wifi in room but in reception area.

Review 34:- Great location - good price - in general it is clean and comfortable

Review 35:The house is very old, so sound isolation is very bad (at least in some rooms). You can hear everything, every word and sight from your neighbors (in our case there was a noise only from one side, so it might be not everywhere so bad, but we could enjoy all the details of love quarrel for a whole evening). Hope it is better in other rooms, since the hotel is really good one for the price.

Review 36:It is amazing hotel, very old building in a quiet small street just near the main street of the village. Exceptionally friendly personal, nice restaurant. Very clean, warm. Some touchy details, like fresh rose on St. Valentines day.

Review 37:Our room did not have wifi, which is not a big deal but is enough of a disadvantage to note...

Review 38:Hotel is right in the old center, we had a family room which was huge for european standards and very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and breakfast (for an extra 10 euro charge; kids 1/2 price) was a huge buffet of fresh breads and cheeses. We were there in the offseason so parking was easy and the town was not crowded at all.

Review 39:Once again, ground floor room seriously hampered privacy. Absolutely impossible to use the bathroom without fully closing the curtains. As there were no shutters - thank heavens for the black material I always have with me. The quality and prices of the food in Riquewihr is abysmal. This region is the so called Goose country - but one cannot find it on any menu. Just go up the road to the pfalz region in Germany and the meals were delicious

Review 40:A charming little town - which, to me, is destroyed by the expensive and ordinary food.

Review 41:We would have liked breakfast to be included, but it was yummy anyway. A small refrigerator would have been really nice!!

Review 42:We liked the staff. They were amazingly helpful and nice. The room was small but cozy and French. Loved the window in the bath. We liked that parking was made available to us with ease. We did not mind the walk up the stairs. Can't wait to return.

Review 43:Because of its location on a side street inside the town walls it is very difficult to access by car, even to drop off luggage. Parking is a short walk away outside the wall, which might not suit everyone. There is also no lift so again might not suit everyone. For all its old world charm, the decor and fittings are very dated but it is only 2-star, which is an honest rating and reflected in the price, which represents good value.

Review 44:The staff were extremely helpful and the restaurant is certainly recommended. The location is very central for exploration on foot and the whole village is charming.

Review 45:Don't try to drive to hotel Very narrow streets and From 10-4 crawling with Tour bus people. Park In public parking and walk to hotel with bags. The upper lot is less than 5 minutes from hotel

Review 46:Friendly and helpful staff Good breakfast, dinner OK

Review 47:The wifi is only available in the lobby.

Review 48:Perfect for a stay in Riquewhir. Off the main street, but easily accessible and close to shops and restaurants. The staff are wonderful and speak excellent French, English and German.

Review 49:Only down side is that the walls are incredibly thin; you can literally hear the conversation in the room next door.

Review 50:Staid here for a night - great location, beautiful old building, very warm reception, rooms are basic but very clean and comfortable. Great value for money.

Review 51:Situated in the picturesque medieval town of Riquewihr in the heart of Alsace. The hotel has loads of character & the staff could teach any hotels a thing or two about hospitality. The room was cosy, with ensuite shower/ toilet ( also very clean)& the rates very reasonable. Breakfast was great.. Bread & croissants, plentiful supply of coffee & tea, yoghurt, fruit, etc Nothing was too much trouble for our host Raphael, he helped us to resolve the parking problem. This hotel was a pleasure to stay in & I would recommend it to anyone who wants to explore this beautiful region of France.

Review 52:The location is a bit tricky to find because it's in the pedestrian only area. Just be sure to map it well and maybe even email hotel ahead of time to find out where to park. Must reserve parking nearby.

Review 53:Riquewhir is a quaint old village with lots of fun shops and restaurants. There are nice walking trails nearby. The staff at the hotel are wonderful and they also have an excellent restaurant.

Review 54:DE: Fur 10.50 Euro ein mageres Fruhstuck. EN: For Eur 10.50 you get a really small choice for breakfast.

Review 55:DE: Exzellente Lage in der Innenstadt, Sehr freundliches Personal. Wenn Sie mit dem Auto kommen, buchen sie den Parkplatz lieber (6 Euro - weniger als die offentliche Parkgebuhr).
