Reviews for Hotel Le Saint Paul
Review 1:The bathrooms I saw need updating and were not especially clean for a "five star" rated hotel....nor was the room carpet. The hotel's air conditioning had already been turned off for the season....a bit too early in my opinion since it was warm and humid while I was visiting. The wonderful staff and the beauty of the surroundings made up for its perceived flaws however.
Review 2:The hotel is in a remarkable and charming village with a storied past. The staff made the experience while staying there superb, always with smiles on their faces and helpful in every way. There were always special sweet treats in the lobby area for guests which were beautiful and delectable. Charming and delightful!
Review 3:• On arrival, reception person introduced himself as a trainee - that's fine but our experience of most of the staff seemed as if they were trainees (except the person who parked our car, etc. who was excellent). It may have been end of season but no excuse for standards to slip. • We went to Level -1 for pre-dinner drink in advance of our 7.30pm booking and were greeted by a person setting the tables who advised that there was no facility for a pre-dinner drink - in a 5 star hotel? He seemed flustered so we said we would go out for a drink. We did but ended up back at reception level and had our pre-dinner drink. • Service during taster menu dinner a bit ad-hoc • Breakfast disappointing given the cost per person compared with comparable hotels on our trip (Negresco Nice and Chateau Eze) - no cooked food - only do-it-yourself boiled eggs • At breakfast asked for mint (menthe) tea but were given green tea • Second day at breakfast, water for tea was lukewarm rather than boiled and we had to ask for it to be replaced • Dangerously sharp edge which damaged my wife's top - pointed out to waiter who apologised but who clearly did not report it to management as we had to raise the matter when checking out. A discount was given but clearly very reluctantly and without an apparent concern for the seriousness of the sharp corner edge immediately beside a table.
Review 4:Location excellent
Review 5:The location is beautiful - right in the heart of the walled village and so picturesque - staff were so polite and attentive - nice choice of food for breakfast - would love to go back!
Review 6:The restaurant disspointed a little bit, could be better, especially on the wine choice
Review 7:Just in the middle of fabulous St Paul de Vence, trapped within its narrow streets
Review 8:Bed was 2 separate ones pushed together (with a small gap) which was a little uncomfortable. Did not have breakfast as it was €28 per head.
Review 9:Location is superb, right in the centre. Helpful staff at the hotel. Got a phone call from the hotel on the way there giving excellent information about parking & directons (Natalie) and welcomed with a drink. Room had lots of character & was very welcoming.
Review 10:The staff at the hotel was excellent. They were there for all your needs. The dinners were superior. I want to personal thank Jerome Soler the manager for seeing to all our needs.
Review 11:Clearly booked a return visit 10 days after our departure, to be telephoned after a week to saw it was not possible due to "damage to a bathroom" - no other rooms available -
Review 12:Great Hotel - would have rated it 100% if they had not made a mess of our return booking -
Review 13:Though it could be a gem, the hotel is a bit...tired, in need of significant refurbishment (carpets stained, fabrics worn, etc).
Review 14:Friendly staff, exclusive location inside the walls at Saint Paul de Vence.
Review 15:Amazing hotel in the heart of St. Paul de Vence. An absolute must stay. The staff was beyond friendly and accommodating, and the hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous.
Review 16:Breakfast is charged as a flat rate - too expensive for the limited choice you have and the breakfast for our 8 year old kid was charged with 100% (€ 28) - and he just had a glass of water - 1 mini coissant + 3 strawberries.
Review 17:The location is very nice and the staff extremely helpful.
Review 18:Lovely rooms, excellent staff, excellent position. The one room initially booked had a problem and we were immediately upgraded to a suite without asking and with profuse apologies.
Review 19:This is an excellent hotel in a beautiful walled medieval village. The room was marvellous and luxurious. Hotel Le Saint Paul is an excellent hotel with well trained and attentive staff.
Review 20:Dinner menu had limited selections.
Review 21:Superb staff. Very accommodating. Rooms were well appointed and hotel sent up treats often. Pastry chef was spectacular.
Review 22:Our rent car navigator guided us to limitted access road heading for Le saint paul. Need to check the right way for driving to the hotel in advance.
Review 23:Room was more beautful than photos postsed. :) , and the village view from the room window was so nice. Bed and room condition is very clean and confortable. Staff are are very kind and helpful from welcoming to good bye.
Review 24:After briefing the manager of my issue with the standard menu he assured us of the changes we agreed to dine with you. However despite our efforts the food apart from dessert was terrible but we paid under disappointing circumstances.
Review 25:The staff and their attitude was warm and friendly
Review 26:Hard to get there by taxi. The car we took left us stranded with our suitcases about 200 metres from the hotel.Luckily they sent a bellboy to help us locate the hotel and to carry our bags. You need to be mobile and fit to stay here.
Review 27:Beautiful view from our room...room pretty gorgeous really.
Review 28:There is nothing not to like about this hotel.
Review 29:This hotel is one of the world's best in one of the world's best places. Everything about it is first class and beautiful. Great, large room, large bathroom, just deluxe in every way. The restaurant and breakfast were also top notch. We can't wait to come back again.
Review 30:The quaint mid-evil hilltop village is the perfect middle ground to experience the cote d' azur from Menton- Cannes 30 mins each way. Escape the hustle-bustle to the luxurious and relaxed confines of the walled city. Phenomenal cuisine awaits at a variety of gorgeous choices.
Review 31:we don´t have nothing against. Everything OK .
Review 32:localization , visual , elegance , sensible and atention about our "honey moon" , recepcion with water, sweets, tea , etc...
Review 33:There is nothing we did not like....please do not change anything.
Review 34:Excellent staff and a delightfully friendly atmosphere and the room was a very good size and very comfortable.
Review 35:Everything from the staff, service, spotless and cleanliness, tasteful decoration and design to the beautiful view and surrounding! Been to many luxury hotels but this one was definable one of the best
Review 36:This very tall person was brusque and unhelpful when asked questions in contrast to the rest of the staff. Rating would have been excellent if his service were not a factor.
Review 37:All of the staff throughout the hotel were friendly and helpful with the exception of a front desk individual.
Review 38:Nothing.
Review 39:All staffs are very kind and funny. Interior is very nice and cute. It is the best breakfast of my life. It is very helpful for us that service staff give some mineral waters at night, because it is a bit difficult to get it in this tiny villege.
Review 40:It was difficult finding public parking and had problems knowing what to do and where to go. We had problems calling the hotel to get help...problem with our telephone.
Review 41:The rooms were beautiful and clean. The restaurant couldn't have been better.
Review 42:The bathroom was perhaps the smallest we've ever encountered in any Relais & Chateaux properties. However it was sparkling clean & "camera ready".
Review 43:The lovely spacious split-level room with a private salon, beautifully decorated & furnished. The rose petals on the bed & bathroom was a lovely touch to our wedding anniversary. The complimentary afternoon tea, served by the General Manager no less, in the delightfully decorated lounge made for a memorable experience.
Review 44:We would loved to have eaten dinner in the Hotels restaurant, but we felt that it was greatly overpriced, and the food was not to our taste a bit to complicated. Nobody likes to eat in an virtually empty restaurant and that seemed to be the case during the time we were there. This is the only criticism in an otherwise perfect 7 days
Review 45:All the staff were 1st Class, nothing was too much trouble. The Hotel is located right in the centre of the village, which was perfect for shops restaurants Etc.
Review 46:The hotel welcome was poor, our welcome drink as stated missing & never materialised, check out similar. However , all the other staff were excellent, pleasant & professional. A definite negative would be the lack of outdoor space apart from the restaurant. We think that a one or two night stay is enough, although obviously being in the centre of the village is a bonus with many restaurants being close.
Review 47:A beautiful small hotel in a wonderful position in the centre of St Paul de Vence. Stylishly decorated rooms, contemporary bathrooms, lovely big beds with high quality linen. The restaurant outside was excellent, the food good albeit a limited choice, and very pricey.
Review 48:Nothing: everything was perfect.
Review 49:Everything was great: location is a must as well as the room design and all the services. All the employees are very kind with an special remark to Xavier and Juan Pablo from the reception.
Review 50:It would be helpful to know that there is a path that is not through the town to reach the hotel.
Review 51:Charming hotel with excellent staff. Can easily get there from Nice by bus.
Review 52:Wine was over-prices in the restaurant - but that is our only negative comment. Everything else was excellent.
Review 53:The welcome was outstanding - arranging car entry beyond the village barriers, car parking, and carrying luggage to our rooms while we had welcome refreshments.
Review 54:From the moment we arrived, all the staff were welcoming, courteous & friendly. We were given an upgrade to a small suite with a comfortable sitting area (sofa, chairs, table & desk, fridge, safe), with TV, & downstairs to a small but pretty, well designed room. The bathroom was small, but had a good sized shower, so was more than adequate. The best feature was being in the middle of the village, with views down to the coast, & not far to go to get to the ocean for a swim in Menton one day.The dinners at the hotel were superb, delicious food & wines, & comfortably seated on the open, leafy terrace. Being in the village, although busy during the day, meant we were close to everything. We would recommend Hotel le Saint Paul.
Review 55:The restaurant of the hotel: nice location and atmosphere and good food, but definitely too pricy for what it offers
Review 56:Location: right about perfect, romantic, charming and with characterStaff: welcoming, helpful and extremely professional The overallfeeling: every guest is cocooned and pampered as a king
Review 57:Only one difficulty is parking. You have to pass the gate and really narrow road but whenever you call them, they help for driving and parking
Review 58:100% perfect location to enjoy real st. Paul town. Well preserved house and wonderful hospitality. The restaurant was absolutely great!
Review 59:Next time we may park in town and walk.
Review 60:staff assistance attention to detail second to none staff attention room decor staff availability feeling of utter luxury staff anticipating our every need feeling pampered
Review 61:I had been driving with my 7 year old daughter from Montpellier, to pick up my mother in Nice. I chosed this hotel to be a beautiful start of a long wanted holiday, and our stay met all our expectations and more. Wonderful and helpful staff, excellent service and outstanding facility. I was a bit stressed realizing that the restaurant was closed when we arrived in the evening, but we were met with full support from the hotel. The restaurant prepared a very nice supper for us, served in our suite. Fantastic food and wine, which made us feeling like we were treated as royals! I highly recommend this place in the middle of the town, they love children and are very helpful in all matters. I will definitely come back as soon as I can, and will also consider what the manager told me "look at this as your second home".
Review 62:Brilliant service, wonderful room (we were upgraded without asking to a suite overlooking the valley), man on reception recommended us a great restaurant in town because we decided not to eat at the hotel. Given bottles of water when we left as they knew we had a long drive ahead of us. Was a great example of what a 5* hotel should be.
Review 63:The village St. Paul is too touristic. Roomservice opens at 7, a five star hotel should have roomservice 24/7. Very limited roomservice menu.
Review 64:Most beautiful hotel in st. Paul. Very helpfull staff. Very nice room.
Review 65:It is about time that France considers internet like a vital service rather than a gadget! Connection was poor during our stay!
Review 66:The charm And kind hospitality of the staff And the magical location
Review 67:Rates are expensive, but it was worth every euro!
Review 68:The St Paul is a lovely respite of a hotel in a charming old village. The public rooms are beautifully decorated in a most comfortable and pleasing manner. Rooms are quite spacious and bathroom is wonderful. Staff was most courteous! Breakfast and dinner at La Terrace Restaurant were very good. If you are planning a trip to Nice, forget about staying in crowded beach hotels. The St Paul is only about 20 minutes away and offers you the chance to really relax in a gorgeous setting. We would happily return for another visit!
Review 69:Hotel refused to accept booking.com rate I was quoted (and had a confirmation for) and charged me 200 Euros more for the room. They made it clear it was up to me to sort it out with booking.com to negotiate a refund. Not the kind of service I expect from a 5-star hotel - they should have dealt with it themselves as it clearly wasn't my fault.
Review 70:Great location, very comfortable room, excellent food.
Review 71:We spent our 28th wedding anniversary at Hotel Le Saint Paul and we loved it. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the room was beautiful. We dined at the restaurant on the terrace the first night and the food was so delicious. Highly recommended.
Review 72:The breakfast was expensive and disappointing once again....not one of the four people in our group received their eggs order the way they'd requested
Review 73:The refurbishment since the last time we were there really made a difference
Review 74:This is an elegant quiet beautiful small hotel in a village that can get touristy at times. The staff is consistently gracious and helpful, and they will drive your car up the tiny harrowing approach which is perfectly in keeping with the quality of service at this divine spot.
Review 75:Great experience all around!
Review 76:No place to plug in curling iron in bathroom.
Review 77:The size of the room and the amount of furniture. The food was excellent. The village is quaint and the locals very friendly.
Review 78:Restaurant food didn't live up to expectations.
