Reviews for Hotel Rabelais

Review 1:The only negative, which is extremely minor, is there are no tea / coffee making facilities.

Review 2:I can't say enough positive things about this hotel. It is spacious, clean, the staff are extremely friendly & helpful. Would definitely stay again. We had connecting double rooms, which resulted in a kind of suite! This is definitely value for money

Review 3:We stayed in the new building behind the hotel and had great rooms with interconnecting doors. Quiet and and good walking access to the center. Also free parking. Would stay again.

Review 4:Excellent value & location, staff v efficient & helpful. Large comfortable rooms - v clean. No problem getting spaces in free parking outside the hotel. Pleasant stroll to historic centre (15 min).

Review 5:No air conditioning made it virtually impossible to sleep in the heat - and it was very hot during our visit! Although the town was not far it would have been good to even have a bar a little closer. Breakfast was fresh but not really very inspiring although the coffee and orange juice was very good!

Review 6:Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and there is free parking right outside the hotel. Rooms were comfortable considering the cost and the hotel was a short walk from the old town with restaurants and bars. There is a great park near by if travelling with kids.

Review 7:Great staff, spoke excellent English, contacted me to leave details on how to access the hotel as we were arriving very late. Great value for money, nice hotel with original and personal touches

Review 8:the toilet was next to the wardrobe and felt like part of the bedroom.which felt to close to the rest of the guests.

Review 9:lovely bathroom with big bath and a nice small balcony outside. iwas worried my 4 year old might be able to get over the top but it was safe for him.

Review 10:Although the hotel looked slightly shabby on first impressions, the rooms were very comfortable and the owner was so friendly and helpful - a real pleasure. An excellent breakfast which set us up for the day. Got a very good restaurant recommendation for an evening meal too (Les Saveurs).

Review 11:The room was really hot (summer 35 degree days) and there was no fan or aircon..

Review 12:Great hotel.. parking at the front. quiet and confortable.. large spacious room. great bathroom. good water pressure

Review 13:It's a 15 walk to the old town and all the restaurants! Which may not suit some. Air con or a room fan would be bonus in summer

Review 14:Very pleasant staff and an interesting building

Review 15:The hotel is on a busy junction therefore traffic noise is audible early in the morning which spoiled our sleep somewhat, although we were out late , if you were in bed early I'm sure this would not be a problem.

Review 16:Great location for walking to the city in about 20 minutes. Very helpful manager or owner, we had secure parking for our motorcycle, and there is lots of free and safe on street parking for cars. The hotel is lovely.

Review 17:I don't mind walking, but for anyone who needs to be closer to the train station, this hotel is not a good choice. There are busses, but who learns bus routes in a town they're only briefly visiting?

Review 18:The efficiency and attentiveness of the staff to my requests. Because my train connections posed some time problems, the manager made certain that I would be able to access my luggage at what was for them an inconvenient tie.

Review 19:As stated, the staff were very kind and efficient, so it was dis pointing to find that they did not change the towels during our stay of 7 nights.

Review 20:The staff were excellent...friendly and efficient. The room was comfortable and the shutters made it very quiet at night..

Review 21:Don't stay in Room 21 - annexe alongside noisy traffic early morning. Monday night is not a night to eat out with most restaurants closed. The only one open in centre was fully booked!

Review 22:Convenient location - short walk to centre

Review 23:There were no downsides to our stay

Review 24:Excellent communication skills Spoke English perfectly Very informative Received delivery of cases in advance of stay and kept us updated

Review 25:The bathroom itself was clean and nice. But the shower was stuffy and relatively small compared to other hotels. Also they don't have an elevator so I had to carry my suitcase using stairs.

Review 26:I really liked the fact that they are located near the station along with bus stops and tram stations.Hotel staff was very kind and helping. She wanted to give as many information as possible and greeted with smile. Room was cozy enough for me and bed was super comfortable. Overall, I recommend this hotel as it is worth its price.

Review 27:Car parking overnight was difficult. There is ample parking, but with the sunday market redtrictions it meant parking on a street away from the hotel, not ideal when the car is packed for travelling.

Review 28:Great hotel for stop over, wished we had been able to arrive earlier as location in town looks lovely.

Review 29:Excellent location for visiting vets with our dog for the return journey to UK. Vets just across the road. Parking is easy and a couple of nice cafes just across the road plus a supermarket nearby. Also, very quiet in the evenings and an easy walk into the main town.

Review 30:No reception available from 9pm forward. No information on where to park car if u check-in late. No elevator so you might have to carry your bags up 4 flight of stairs. Staff wasn't very friendly. Beds and pillows weren't very comfortable. Spacious bathroom with good shower. Not the cleanest though. I wouldn't go back to this hotel.

Review 31:Spacious bathroom with good shower. Not the cleanest though.

Review 32:6 flights of stairs and no lift. Breakfast not always ready at advertised time.

Review 33:Very helpful owner re tourist information. Lovely crockery used for breakfast..authentic French experience. Very good location and parking close by.

Review 34:The only tiny thing was that you could not use the shower as a shower because there was no holder for the shower head.

Review 35:The room was large with a comfortable bed. The bathroom and bath were a good size. It was very clean. Only 15 mins. to the restaurant area of Tours.

Review 36:We had a room at the top of three flights of stairs and there is no lift. We were offered help with luggage but didn't like to ask a young lady to carry our heavy cases!

Review 37:Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and breakfast was plentiful. Our room was a good size and the en-suite was spacious. The hotel is near the town centre which is interesting and there were plenty of restaurants. There was parking outside if a space but otherwise in a free car park very close by.

Review 38:Bit of a walk to the centre to eat with limited public transport. Getting used to French eating times after driving from Spain that day.

Review 39:Nice rooms and facilities, breakfast (not included in price but reasonable), free parking nearby. Lovely house and setting, helpful staff.

Review 40:Small room, the expedition like hike up four flights of stairs (no lift!) make it impractical for anybody less that fit so elderly or disabled guests need apply! Location. Not really the hotels fault but it's a 25-30 min walk into town.

Review 41:The receptionist cum general manager and do everything girl was excellent. She helped call a taxi for us as my wife wasn't up to the 25 min walk into town for dinner.

Review 42:The security, as when going out we were encouraged to leave our room key on a rack which was open to other guests and potentially members of the general public

Review 43:The staff and location and that we could be flexible and come and go as we pleased. There was always someone on hand to help but didn't feel that we werer being watched over.

Review 44:Nothing at all.

Review 45:We booked their triple room with bath, and it was luxuriously huge, even by American standards. The staff are very accommodating, especially to our baby needs. Some highlights of their family-friendliness: they provide a high-chair for the little one at breakfast (though there is only one to go around); there is a little play area in the lobby with children's books and some toys. For those with needs to a grocery store (for example, baby diapers and milk), right around the corner is a Simply Market (a full-sized supermarket). While we didn't take it, the bus stop in front of the hotel is connected to the FilBleu line 5 that goes to the St-Pierre-des-Corps train station. For those arriving by public transit that can be a better option than coming in all the way to Tours. The hotel is also quite close by foot to the old town region, where there are plenty of good dining options.

Review 46:Bags could not be dropped off earlier than check in which is not very convenient for a traveller who arrives early.

Review 47:The entrance to the hotel and lobby was charming, with a family atmosphere and cute litttle ``frog`` by the door. Welcoming and quirky! My room was in the modern annex and most charming :-)

Review 48:No air conditioning Website states hotel in centre of town, it is a 20 mins walk to the centre Chipped toilet seat, a health hazard(have photo) Hotel situated on a junction, cannot have windows open, traffic noise, difficult to sleep

Review 49:Nothing

Review 50:Parking was in an open-air free public car-park. Its a worry if you have to leave stuff in the car. No lifts so difficult if you have too much luggage.

Review 51:Value for money and just outside centre of old district

Review 52:Wardrobe had to be held closed by a chair (lock broken). Fair distance to walk to town centre. Breakfast adequate(continental) but maybe a bit on the expensive side.

Review 53:Staff very friendly - room exceptionally clean lovely bathroom. Good parking.

Review 54:I got good experiences on the receiption supporting me. Original, I got some worries on my car rental. I do not know French language. The receiption Vahatr gave me a hand and let me have a good image in Tours trip. Thanks.

Review 55:Lack of heating/cooling Small room Closed during 12 til 3pm so we had to wait ages to check in Exterior repaint would be good Hanging keys to rooms on staircase for anyone to access didnt seem a secure method

Review 56:Bathroom Friendly staff

Review 57:We were on the ground floor with a window onto the street, therefore difficult to leave open at night so the room desperately needed air conditioning. Ther wer no bedside tables or draws and no tea or coffee making facilities in the room

Review 58:Room had creaky floorboards!

Review 59:Comfortable and clean. Very pleasant staff. Very well located in town centre. Public but safe parking
