Reviews for Hôtel De La Vallée
Review 1:Stunning, changing ocean views from elegant, old charm chambres. Large beds Exquisite French restaurant with beautifully and artfully presented local delicacies. Gentle walks along the river front leading to a tidal sea pool and stunning walks along the beach front with a view across to St Malo.
Review 2:Staff did hoovering every morning= 5 days at breakfast time even when they shut the door you could still hear it. Perhaps do this after breakfast. The buffet style breakfast was ok but too high on bar counter, not all people are 6 foot tall.
Review 3:Size of rooms, balcony and view.
Review 4:Toilet paper in the bathrooms was very budget! You get softer stuff in the public conveniences! Breakfast was not good value for the money. We didn't bother with breakfast on the second morning.
Review 5:location of hotel and room with a fantastic view, cleanliness, facilities, staff generally helpful and spoke some english
Review 6:Free parking enjoyed but a little squeezed and probably limited in high season or busier periods, although some public paying spots nearby.
Review 7:Excellent waterside hotel location. Large comfortable double room with king size bed and great views over harbour from windows on 2 sides. Interesting seaside walk of 10 minutes or so into the centre of Dinard.
Review 8:Breakfast was not value for the cost of it, on the last morning we had breakfast we were told there was not any fresh brown bread because there was not enough people staying in the hotel having breakfast
Review 9:Ease of free public parking
Review 10:The family room was tiny, tiny, tiny. With four people in it and suit cases you could not move at all. There were a big crack/hole in the toilet wall. The hotel was basically closed when we where there, which created a airy deserted feeling.
Review 11:The location and the breakfast was fine
Review 12:The room was very comfortable and we had a lovely view. The staff were very helpful and the food in the restaurant was so excellent we ate there all three nights.
Review 13:The bedroom was tiny. Three prawns with a little pasta and a sauce for 13.50 euros was def ridiculously expensive.
Review 14:The location of the hotel was beautiful. The staff were friendly enough and there was no problem with the dogs.
Review 15:Only one really welcoming staff member. Felt abandoned when restaurant and staff were closed on sunday evening and monday. Staff often seemed rushed. We feel that all these issues easily dealt with.
Review 16:Liked the position overlooking the sea. Breakfasts in the restaurant were charming and offered a good selection.
Review 17:Sea view is strange as it is behind the headboard of the bed so difficult to sit and admire it! Restaurant was OK but one of the staff was so rude we left before being served coffee at the end.
Review 18:Position is brilliant.
Review 19:Car parking very limited, but they seem to manage somehow!
Review 20:Fantastic location, with splendid views. Comfortable room with lovely balcony. Close to the ferry to St. Malo and the pretty walks around the headland.
Review 21:I would say overpriced for what it offers. Slightly jaded. Decor needs attention. Discarded bag in the rain channel outside our bedroom window, surely not difficult to remove. Breakfasts expensive and very disappointing, get there late and run the risk of items having run out. Packaged ham and cheese is a real turn off. Parking is a challenge. Serious mix up on departure over cash payment. Absolutely certain that we had paid right amount but somehow 40 euro went missing.
Review 22:Cannot beat this hotel for location. Good restaurant.
Review 23:Carpets could do with a clean. No tea/coffee facilities in the room but that is fairly typical of France as was the variety of staff - some truly lovely and others rather brusque.
Review 24:We were very happy with this choice of hotel in Dinard. The location is perfect - quiet and overlooking a bay with numerous boats bobbing about. I couldn't see anywhere else nearby that I would have preferred. Plenty of English TV channels for those that want it and excellent wifi too.
Review 25:We asked for a 1 hour extension of the checkout time and were treated to a rather curt "non". No explanation, no apology. Not important but left me feeling a bit put out.
Review 26:Excellent location, lovely building and well decorated room.
Review 27:Found the staff unwelcoming and not prepared to give their time to answer our questions and requests. They seemed to rush around all the time and were frustrated at having to stop to speak to us. A shame really as requests for coffee or wifi codes were not difficult to complete.
Review 28:Lovely location, quiet. Good room size and facilities were fine. Breakfast is seriously overpriced, we didn't partake.
Review 29:Great location for ferry across to St Malo or a walk around the coastline.Excellent restaurant popular with the locals and only a 10 minute walk to the beach or town for a great choice of places to eat.
Review 30:No chef for the breakfast so I couldn't get my fried eggs
Review 31:Location is great; right in front of the sea and in the middle of Dinard Staff friendly and keen to support
Review 32:For the price we paid the shower in the bathroom was very very poor. The toilet was separate from the bathroom and that was small.
Review 33:The hotel was clean staff were great but the bathroom was rubbish.
Review 34:The hotel was well equipped to deliver the excellent experience we were hoping for. The facilities and décor were of a very good standard and the staff were pleasant and obliging at all times.
Review 35:The wi-fi broke down and unluckily for all the locals and tourists alike there was a very noisy party in a nearby apartment which continued right through the night until about 4am. In the restaurant mostly excellent especially fish but one of us had to suffer a huge and rather unsophisticated and not too tasty garden salad.
Review 36:Just a fantastic location right on the sea front, our room also had that view too. Also breakfast was pretty near perfect. Parking can be tricky but hotel staff will re-park car as spaces become available.
Review 37:room quite small odd decor in the hallway
Review 38:room bright clean and airy liked the electric blinds which shut out all light no noise from neighbouring rooms
Review 39:initially it looked like car parking was going to be a problem but reception took our keys and sorted this out for us. Wifi didn't really work in our room ( 301)
Review 40:great location, very friendly and efficient staff, and excellent value for money
Review 41:Parking was very limited. Cars were parked up to 3 deep; had to hand in car keys to reception so they could move the car to let others out.
Review 42:Location was excellent within easy reach of local beaches
Review 43:Wi-fi code didn't work which wasn't a major issue, but would have liked to check a couple of things on the internet during our stay. Breakfast was a mixture of items to cover most tastes but still not the most extensive selection ( I have been to France on many occasions so I know what breakfast entails but a couple of hot options would have been good). Staff were very professional and did a good job but they were not over friendly (possibly because they were busy but there were a couple of exceptions). The hotel restaurant was closed after the first night for a couple of days and the hotel also seemed to go into a hibernation mode during this period which effectively meant that the public areas were 'screened off' and it didn't feel like you were stopping in a hotel during this period. Cleaning of rooms was sporadic and at different times of the day which meant access to our room was affected on a couple of occasions (room was cleaned to a good standard though)
Review 44:Location was perfect; far enough away from the town centre for peace but close enough to enjoy all that was on offer. Great location for boat over to St Malo. Modern décor in public spaces and good restaurant. Had a room with a balcony facing the sea/slip-way and this was great (never got bored with the view) and definitely the best option.
Review 45:The beds were a little too hard for us. Most of the staff were friendly but not all! July weekend pretty pricey, next time we will go out of high season.
Review 46:Loved the location and the room with a balcony was worth the extra cost. Easy to access from St Malo either by car or on the Vedette (water-bus). Parking nearby, quiet at night and a short stroll into the chic centre of Dinard.
Review 47:Car parking around hotel was horrific! We were lucky and found the last space on the hotel forecourt. Otherwise we would have had to park miles away.
Review 48:Good food, pleasant staff who were very helpful, comfortable and clean room.
Review 49:We will never stay in Dinard again due to the very poor parking facilities. The Hotel offered no guest parking and all the surrounding areas were completely full at all times. Even the approach to the hotel was very difficult with cars parked on all kerbs. Impossible for people with disabilities and small children. When booking the Hotel should provide their guests with a place to park. Please pass on my comments as people should be aware of the problem as should the Hotel.
Review 50:Hotel was very well located as far as the outlook onto the harbour.
Review 51:Location - great views and away from the town centre without being too far to walk. Staff - friendly, helpful and attentive - they made a super effort to look after us on our anniversary evening meal. Room - we booked a superior double with sea view and balcony and got exactly that!
Review 52:Asked by staff to leave my car keys behind desk for my whole stay so they could move my car, wifi very weak,VERY EXPENSIVE FOOD, we felt that they were only interested in 'Snobs'
Review 53:View from room
Review 54:The elevator was out, but we dealt with our heavy suitcases. They offered to move us.
Review 55:We have spent time at the Hotel de la Vallee before, and each time we find it magical. In the summer, the beach is a moment away and the yachts are gorgeous. Across the inlet is Saint Malo, and what a view! In the winter, as it was this time, we scheduled ourselves for the Reveillon de Saint Sylvestre which is the name for the wonderful all night celebrations bringing in the new year. At the Rearaurant de la Vallee, we began at 8:00 p.m. with champagne and appetizers, and we concluded the evening after 9 courses at 1:00 a.m. It was a seafood extravaganza that included crabmeat, lobster, and scallops. We also had foie gras, wild mushrooms, various wonderfully cooked or puréed vegetables and desserts to die for. Expensive? Yes, but worth it. There was also a three piece jazz trio for the night. The location in Dinard is excellent, and on the edge of Brittany and Normandy makes sight seeing in the north of France easy and pleasurable.
Review 56:Loved this hotel for everything. It's location is unbeatable. Watching the tides come and go is a show every day. The restaurant is superb. Excellent cuisine beautifully prepared and presented. They were able to accommodate us in an accessible room making our stay much easier.
Review 57:Restaurant closed on Mondays and Tuesdays understandable but considering their fantastic food great shame on this visit
Review 58:Friendly staff room very clean and comfortable
Review 59:Difficulty in parking. Says you do not need to reserve a place. no places existed unless you were prepared to pay a fee to park or get blocked in
Review 60:Rooms very nice. food very good
Review 61:Worn out mattress, filthy mattress cover, smelly carpet, stains on furniture and walls. Open shower causing flooding of bathroom. Slightly understaffed. Not enough parking space. Somewhat noisy activity around the port early in the morning
Review 62:Location, friendly staff, good but pricy restaurant.
Review 63:the hotel is well placed for enjoying every aspect of Dinard. It is close to the beaches and all the good restaurants. The staff are professional and friendly. The rooms are comfortable with excellent views. We liked it all and have there stayed many times.
Review 64:Car parking awkward as staff jam the car into available area next to hotel. Even balcony rooms are small. Noisy next to road.
Review 65:Location great for beach and hopping on a boat to visit St Malo. Good standard of food. Helpful staff.
Review 66:The information promised parking but it is misleading, only few spaces, first come, first serve. The breakfast was way over priced for very little. The staff acted like they were doing us a favor anytime we dealt with anyone.
Review 67:The location is very good, near everything in centre ville. The facilities are clean and up to date.
Review 68:Nothing...all good :)
Review 69:Delightful spot on the water, the dinner was delicious and service 1st class. Our sea view room was an absolute gem:) waking up to the lapping waves was devine. Thank you for a splendid stay,we will be back.
Review 70:Very expensive (10 euros for gin and tonic ?) Limited parking spaceRooms very hot - no air con or fans, so didn't sleep very well. Alsorooms very close together, so can be noisy. First night woken by peoplein adjoining room coming in late and very noisy! I had to knock on doorto ask them to be quiet. The second night was a much better room, butstill very hot. Again, no fans available, which would have made our staymore comfortable.
Review 71:Excellent food and serviceVery helpful and friendly staff Good location overlooking the bay with a pleasant walk to bars and restaurants.
Review 72:Arrived to pilled up chairs in hall .iroing board and cloths etc in dinning room, unlit, and bar closed at six pm! In the first & second morning loads of noise with chairs and tables dragged on the terrace
Review 73:Wonderful position lots to look at,could be a beautiful hotel would recommend.but expensive for the lack of care on ground floor!
Review 74:Visitors need to understand that because of the location, hotel parking is limited. However, it is well placed for people to arrive and depart by using the water taxi from St Malo.
Review 75:A peaceful waterside setting, with an excellent cuisine.
