Reviews for Les Bastides Saint Paul
Review 1:This is a pleasant, small, hotel which is very conveniently located to visit The Village (old area) of St Paul de Vence, as well as a convenient place from which to take a city bus to Nice.
Review 2:The road is not very far from some rooms of the hotel
Review 3:Helpfully and friendly staff and owners, Comfort of the beds, cleanness of the room, location nearby the new mall Polygone Riviera
Review 4:Place is a little out from the city center itself (either St. Paul or Vence) and it's a bit difficult to move around, and expensive by taxi. It's best to rent a car in Nice and drive up. If the hotel can provide car service, that would be perfect!
Review 5:It's a homey resort type boutique hotel in the country. Good place to stay if you're looking for a respite from the city. Or if you want to just read a book and dine out. Very nice, friendly, helpful couple running the place. Feels like home.
Review 6:Located 10 minutes drive away from the center of the village, old fashioned and a bit strange room.
Review 7:The staff very friendly, nice pool, clean room, nice view from the window.
Review 8:Friendly staff, and they were helpful and obliging. The hotel was close by St Paul de Vence which is a beautiful village. There was so much to do and see in the surrounding area.
Review 9:It was a very cute hotel with a nice pool for cooling off. We had a lovely room which was clean and comfortable. Great breakfast on the terrace.Service and staff very respectful and friendly. Perfect if you like to explore the region during the day and relax afterwards.
Review 10:Gilles went above and beyond helping us to find lost keys in the village. This only added to a very pleasant stay at this clean, tasteful and well located hotel. I'd go again, and highly recommend this hotel.
Review 11:WiFi was not working in our room, but the lobby was fine - the router was out of order.
Review 12:Simply lovely, beautiful pool, private balcony and nice breakfast terrace.
Review 13:Perhaps the quality and range of the WIFI but I believe that is being sorted
Review 14:Relaxed atmosphere, help when you needed it a perfect retreat for a proper holiday just wish we had been able to stay longer
Review 15:Wifi was weak, but Jill managed our expectations very well.
Review 16:We really enjoyed the breakfast. It had something for everyone. Jill was great! Had a good sense of humour and very helpful. The others were great too. Very accommodating. Location was great. We were close to the village and also a mcDonalds so our 3yr old was happy too.
Review 17:The amount of flies in the pool
Review 18:Manager called me when I was late and advised me on how to gain access. He was brilliant! Pool was good- one of the main reasons I booked this hotel
Review 19:If you book a "comfort room" we learnt that you either get a big room downstairs with people looking down on your terrace (on which air does not circulate) or a tiny room upstairs with balcony and view. A normal sized room upstairs costs extra. Breakfast very expensive. Wifi in reception area, did not work well in the rooms. The road outside did not bother us but others may need to consider that it passes just by the hotel. We thought this hotel was ok but we are not convinced you cannot find better price-value elsewhere
Review 20:Nice swimming pool. Nice view from rooms upstairs. Beautiful surroundings. Friendly staff. Refrigerator in the room.
Review 21:We specified a quiet room, but were given a room next to the reception and breakfast area. We were woken early when breakfast was being set up and then by early risers who were eating outside our patio windows. A mains water pipe ran along the ceiling of our room, so whenever anyone turned on a tap, you could hear the water running through. We asked to be moved, firstly told no more rooms, but then the owner, who was a nice man and trying to help, then showed us a basement room, which smelt of damp. We were then shown another room, which was by the pool and next to a busy road. We decided to leave, agreed with the owner to just pay for the 1 night and breakfasts that we had. The pictures and description of the hotel on booking.com do not tell you that the hotel is right next to a busy main rd, hence very noisy and not what you think you are going to get from the pictures.
Review 22:the owner was very pleasant and helpful.
Review 23:The wifi has to improve... the reception is uneven... but it does work .. and that's all that counts...
Review 24:the location... the pool... and friendly staff
Review 25:Bathroom and toilet had inadequate ventilation which meant that they were both hot inside but opening the door remedied these problems.
Review 26:Clean. Excellent service. Great location. All the attributes of a nice hotel. We stayed in a 3 bed room which had 3 single beds which were comfortable. The air-conditioning was nice and cold. The bathroom was nice and modern with a walk in shower and hair dryer and we had a separate toilet. Our room also had an outside area which was nice (accessible through a porch door). The breakfast although not free was tasty and had a good selection of pastries, breads, cheeses, meats and drinks. Free WiFi worked very well. Finally all the staff were suoer friendly!
Review 27:We stopped at Les Bastides de St Paul for a week and is a great hotel which was reasonably priced considering the location in the Côte d'Azur. The hotel has a nice pool which doesn't get too busy, lots of parking, optional breakfast (cheaper to buy from the local supermarket, store it in the fridge and eat it on the terrace), good sized clean rooms with excellent facilities (fridge is a big bonus). The staff are very friendly and helpful and speak good English and helped us to learn some French. It has free Wi-Fi which is only available near reception. It's situated on a main road, which gives you good access to the two picturesque hill top villages within 10 minutes and the seaside towns\cities of Cannes, Antibes, Nice and Monaco within 30-40 mins. Although it's easier to go to Monaco on the train which again is easy to do. There are lots of things to see and do in the area and a good selection of restaurants either in the local villages or by the sea front at St-Laurent-du-Var.
Review 28:The bathroom was not very comfortable, there was no shower, just a bath tub. The free wifi is very slow
Review 29:The room was nice, the pool also looked nice but it was too cold to try it out. The hotel is in a very nice location, close to Saint-Paul-de-Vence and relatively close to Nice and Monaco. Free onsite parking,
Review 30:Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and a great location for exploring the area. Very close to Vence and St Paul de Vence, and only 15 minutes from Nice.
Review 31:Nothing. Great experience!
Review 32:The owners ere very nice and helpful, breakfast was good and it was charming. Lovely pool area although it was too cold to use it. Close to the Village of St. Paul de Vence (a must see.)Nothing
Review 33:the hotel is quite far from Saint Paul (it is almost a country hotel, not Provence), and we were looking for somenthing in ou side the village. It is side to a road, so a little bit noisy, we have to turn the air conditioner on to sleep. Some basic items are missing in the room and bathroom, need an upgrade.
Review 34:The hotels seem like a country house, the crew (mostly the owners?) is very friendly and gave us precious tips for the attractions around; nice swimming pool for these who is looking for
Review 35:There's no quality, atmosphere or personality - it's a basic hotel pretending to be what it is not and it's way overpriced for what you get!
Review 36:The publicity photographs give an excellent impression but it's not the reality - which is poor!
Review 37:Terrible WiFi - poor coverage and stability, slow speeds. No shower head hook except for at knee height, so you have to hold the shower head or have a bath. Shower controls covered by shower curtain, so inconvenient.
Review 38:Lovely pool, comfortable beds, friendly staff
Review 39:A minor minus to the internet connection but in the end it was holiday and in holidays you should relax :)
Review 40:Everything. The deluxe room was cozy, big and very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and very helpfull.
Review 41:Very noisy location due to being close to quite a busy road so sitting next to the pool was not very relaxing.
Review 42:Clean, friendly helpful staff, lovely pool.
Review 43:Decor was a little old, not the most charming room we stayed in
Review 44:Great staff, super nice owner Bed was incredibly comfortable Room was clean Property was very pretty
Review 45:Location too far from old town - on main road and could hear traffic all the time. No laundry facilities, no restaurant facilities and terrible wifi - could only access from reception
Review 46:Staff were exceptionally helpful and rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Good as a base to travel around other parts of south of France with a car
Review 47:Couldn't get wifi in the room at all. It was only working around the reception area.
Review 48:We booked a standard room but was upgraded to a luxury room which was nice for our honeymoon. Just a note that the hotel is not very near to St-Paul-de-Vence, you need to have a car to drive there.
Review 49:Not the properties fault but it rained all day and night.
Review 50:Location
Review 51:Noise
Review 52:Hospitality
Review 53:Coming home
Review 54:We loved everything
Review 55:Wifi only works at lobby.
Review 56:Rooms are big and confortable. Nice garden and pool.
Review 57:Very strong smell in the rooms, dirty furniture , Loud street close to hotel
Review 58:No wi-fi in rooms
Review 59:Excellent stuff, which is unusual for France. Large balconies with nice view.
Review 60:Wifi was not so good.
Review 61:Large room, plenty of space , friendly staff , nice garden with good swimming pool.
Review 62:had to carry luggage to room
Review 63:great setting, great hospitality
Review 64:no wi fi in room had to go downstairs to use it
Review 65:comfort of room
Review 66:Breakfast is poor, wifi is slow...
Review 67:Clean, big room, carpark, pool

Review 71:Wifi signal extremely poor.
Review 72:Swimming pool after a hot day was beautiful and refreshing. Staff were extremely helpful.
Review 73:Comfortable room with tea making facilities and balcony. Nice swimming pool
Review 74:The owner was very attentive to our needs. Breakfast was excellent, buffet type. The pool is exceptional!
Review 75:nothing
Review 76:noise of the nearby street.
Review 77:room interior, pool,
Review 78:Located such that you need a car.
Review 79:Very clean, comfortable beds, nice breakfast and the loveliest and most attentive hosts imaginable. Great pool.
Review 80:internet VERY slow. staff did not know that pillows had feathers and that was a problem for a family member with allergy.
Review 81:nice place. confortable rooms.
Review 82:You would need a car or a taxi to eat and tour, as only breakfast is provided(you can buy drinksand ice cream on site) This was not a problem as the guests could snack in the grounds and could shop in the supermarket near to the hotel. these are minor issues as guests should be aware before booking As yet there is no English TV.
Review 83:the staff were very helpful, friendly and professional at all times. the grounds are lovely and the pool area ,though small is a treat in the heat. The rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean with air condition if needed breakfast generous coffee very good.We would stay here again
Review 84:issue is that you are literally ON the highway. extremely noisy. I didn't think this was possible.
Review 85:staff was very nice and helpful, hotel itself is very nice
Review 86:Staff are very friendly, helpful and humorous, especially Mr. “James Pond”! We enjoyed the time spend in BIG CLEAN swimming pool. The room is spacious and the breakfast is great. We do recommend you to visit Saint Paul de Vence and stay several nites in this peaceful and lovely hotel. :)
Review 87:The breakfast could be improved with hot options
Review 88:We liked the swimming pool, the location (if you rent a car) and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Review 89:Our room was next to their kitchen and the outside common terrace and it was a bit noisy. Entrance hard to find off the road
Review 90:Although not specially charming, the pool was set prettily in the middle and would have been nice to have had the weather been better.
Review 91:Our room was spacious and very clean. The staff were very kind, helpful, friendly and gave us very good advice about the surrounding area. The location of this hotel is perfect if you want to visit Saint Paul de Vence, Grasse and all the beautiful "villages perchés" you can find in this wonderful area.
Review 92:The separate toilet should have had its' own handbasin. Shower was a hand held one only
Review 93:Location, cleanliness, good air-con. Breakfast on the terrace. Parking
Review 94:Nothing! Just a remark: some rooms do not have access to wifi. Note that my room was in the main complex and therefore had wifi, not by the pool where wifi is not available.
Review 95:Everything was ok!
Review 96:Bread and croissant served with breakfast were just "ok quality" ...should be improved
Review 97:Excellent superior room with private balcony. Great! Lovely swimming pool. Owners very friendly and helpful.
Review 98:Location is convenient to St. Paul de Vence but an oasis in a relativelycongested and unattractive area. Breakfast is only fair for the money
Review 99:Beautiful grounds, very helpful staff, nice pool, comfortable room(great shower!)
Review 100:It's near a busy road but not too intrusive.
Review 101:The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. It is a professionally run small hotel. Very central for touring the area and accessible to Nice Airport.
Review 102:My flight schedule that required us to leave before breakfast on our day of departure.
Review 103:The friendly, personal, helpful attitude of the entire staff that lasted throughout our entire stay.
Review 104:Les Bastides Saint Paul HOTEL is the perfect location to stay before you journey to the village (St. Paul De Vence) built on a rocky outcrop and surrounded by ramparts built on the orders of Franoois Ith. St Paul is certainly one of the most beautiful villages in Provence. The hotel looks like an Italian villa and the rooms are large and simply elegant yet functional. There is a coffee/ tea service and a nice bathroom. The area is quiet and situated with a nice view of the city. The night time staff is very helpful and speaks very good English. The large terrace window was nice. Parking is provided and safe. Dr. John and Connie/ College Station, Texas
Review 105:The owners were very accommodating. They changed our room to a triplesince our older son stayed on traveling with us. The room was cozy yetstylish at the same time. The beds were the most comfortable we slept induring our 2 weeks in France and Italy. The owner suggested a visit toSt Paul. It was a charming relatively urn touristy hill top Frenchvillage home to many visionaries of the impressionist movement. 5 Stars!
Review 106:Receptionist was rude and unfriendly. Poor breakfast....instant Luke warm coffee, boxed juice..for 12 euros this was sub par. It is not near St Paul de Vence it is in Cagnes sur Mar. Nothing close by really.
Review 107:Bathrooms were modern and spacious.
Review 108:If you want to have dinner or buy some wine you have to take a 10-minute drive (not a bad feature really, just worth noticing).
Review 109:Wonderful hotel if you want to be away from civilization. Spacious terrace outside the rooms.
Review 110:Lack of good restaurants in the immediate area. Had to travel 15 to 20 minutes to reach a good restaurant.
Review 111:Very good location. Easy access to beaches, major resorts and cities. Very quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Fantastic staff. We were told that it would be difficult to find. That was not the case because of the many little black "Bastides" signs at the various ronds-points leading to the hotel from the autoroute.
Review 112:It was not as near to St Paul de Vence as we thought -had to get the car out each time to find restaurants and we found the roads to be busy and rather twisty !
Review 113:The hosts were more than helpful . Really friendly and really willing to look after "two old People!"The hotel is really pretty and comfortable after you get into it -the entrance is not very attractive and can be difficult to spot on a busy road ,but we would go again now that we have found it .
Review 114:Quiet location, perhaps even isolated. It is out of town and accessible by car. A bit resort like but as it was cool weather we did not use the facilities. Room was clean and spacious. Owners do not speak a lot of English.
Review 115:the locatin
Review 116:freindly staff and very helpfull. great breakfast nice pool really really enjoyed every bit of my stay . not the best location for nice but i ll go back just for the freindly staf and services
Review 117:Good sized room with terrace. A little bit further from tourist site St Paul de Vence) than I realized, but not bad. Quiet location and friendly staff. Recommended a restaurant for dinner which was really good.
Review 118:Well situated , easy going around for various visits of towns and villages near the sea or inland. You can come back to relax in the afternoon and go back for dinner in your car to Vence, Cagnes sur Mer, St Laurent du Var or Nice ...not very far
Review 119:The hotel was very relaxed and informal, and had a very pleasant swimming pool and garden. The terrace was attractive, and we particularly appreciated the opportunity to purchase drinks. A most enjoyable stay, we couldn't fault the room.
Review 120:Staff was not very friendly. They called in the room at 12h05 to tell us that check out time was 12h00 and that we had to get out....but outside, it there was a major storm and the entire place was flooded....! And then, we need to wait 20 minutes to check out at the reception as the computer was down...
Review 121:Room was nice, large and design.
Review 122:A little hard to find, perhaps breakfast should have a simpler, smaller option
Review 123:Location to sites, friendliness of staff, quiet, nice balcony and view, rural setting but no isolated
Review 124:- A bit noisy (next to busy road)- Not in city centre so better foresee a car
Review 125:- Welcoming staff- Very clean and quite large rooms (with private terrace) - Good infrastructure (pool, table tennis, ...)
Review 126:Breakfast quality is good, but selection is somewhat limited.(Additional sorts of cheese, smoked salmon, Pate´ etc. -please!!).Laying at the pool, you can hear the traffic from te nearby street.- Not in the rooms!
Review 127:A very cozy family owned & run Hotel! Extremely helpful stuff.-Warmwelcome. All rooms are very tastefully decorated and functional. (New!)
Review 128:Wifi connection with my IPad and cell phone was poor and unreliable.
Review 129:Excellent location. Short, easy drive from Nice airport after flight from NY. Great base to explore many cities/towns in the area. Pretty, quiet, and relaxing atmosphere with a wonderful pool to cool off in after a hot day of site seeing. Luxury room with king bed and balcony very clean and comfortable. Parking on premises. Excellent hospitality provided by Veronique, Eric, and Amandine who were very kind and helpful.
Review 130:WI-FI was only available properly in reception, certain bedrooms get it but not all and not ours.
Review 131:Staff/owners excellent and friendly. Breakfast excellent Location great for us.
