Reviews for Hôtel De La Couronne
Review 1:We were on the top floor and unfortunately there is no lift , not so good for people that aren't good too foot .
Review 2:The location of the hotel is fantastic, in the center of the village. Staff was friendly and it was interesting to stay in such an old old building ( medieval castle feeling)
Review 3:Car parking quite difficult. Very narrow roads to gain access. Room a little bit tired. Lots of stairs to room.
Review 4:Great location. Minutes away from restaurants, shops. Friendly reception.
Review 5:No complaints!
Review 6:Extremely friendly staff at check in and check out. Very quiet property in an ancient building that has been well maintained and keeps its old world charm. The rooms were simple, but very clean and comfortable with everything you need. I loved the old wood details and furniture.
Review 7:breakfast is good, but expensive The Design Glas sink was stylish and clean itself, but the wood underneath visible and evidently in bad condition (humidity). other weaknesses in the bathroom.
Review 8:friendly; convenient parking; Charming atmosphere
Review 9:Town shut down at night. Would stay in one of the other villages in area in the future where more is available after day tourists leave.
Review 10:Some staff accommodating others not so much. Clean and located in middle of village.
Review 11:simple but full of charm and clean room under the roof with one single bed connected to a room with a double bed. Comfortable beds and modernised bathroom.
Review 12:The room was exactly what we needed. The beds were hard (in a good way... I hate when hotel beds are squishy). The room was perfectly clean, warm (was a pretty chilly weekend), and had a really nice modern bathroom. We even thought the breakfast was really well supplied (as opposed to a typically much simpler French breakfast). We are definitely planning on staying here again when we return.
Review 13:Wifi signal did not reach our room. No lift. Luggage had to be carried up 53 steps of a narrow stone spiral staircase. Very quaint, but not for everyone.
Review 14:Great location in the center of Riquewihr. Ample parking at hotel. Charming old building.
Review 15:There is no A/C. That might ve a problem in the hot summer nights. We managed by opening the window.
Review 16:Nice hotel iright n the middle of Riquewihr with ample parking place. Clean, nice staff, recommended.
Review 17:The standard room is small has very small bathroom. Probably the comfort room will be bigger. No air condition except a fan.
Review 18:Location and the very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 19:A bit tricky to find with our sat Nav so walked in and hotel told us how to get to the hotel which was down a road that said no entry but we were aloud to use as we were staying there.
Review 20:Loved the character of the hotel and the room .You couldn't be better located and parking for the motorbike.
Review 21:The double bed was really small and the single bed's sheet didn't cover the mattress.
Review 22:Fabulous hotel in a fantastic location! The hotel is right in the centre of Riquewihr and has its own carpark. The rooms are lovely, with traditional painted furniture.
Review 23:The price per night could've been slightly cheaper, likewise breakfast.
Review 24:The hotel is conveniently situated in the heart of the village. The room was cosy and the bed was v comfy plus the bathroom was spacious and clean. The hotel receptionist was warm and friendly, likewise staff at the bar and breakfast room.
Review 25:The stairs but that's normal in all such old locations and it was worth the included ambience. Nothing else to complain about.
Review 26:Location was fabulous! Including parking right next to the hotel. Most beautiful and charming town we've ever been to. The staff were helpful and friendly and our room was nice and lags, plenty of room for two travel beds.
Review 27:Stone spiral staircase up to bedrooms... very narrow steep steps. All added to the character but a bit scary... wouldn't want to attempt them after a couple of glasses of wine!!!
Review 28:Full of character, very old... good breakfast. Friendly staff
Review 29:WiFi wasn't working, but not the hotel's fault, and not a major problem - we were on holiday, after all!
Review 30:Quirky building in excellent position, with lovely staff, and very thoughtful to provide an air-conditioning unit in the room (it was 32C+ during our stay). Large car park adjacent to hotel a real bonus.
Review 31:Walls are thin especially if crying baby next door but adds to charm.steep stairs
Review 32:Great location in centre of village. Lovely quirky building / rooms with car parking
Review 33:No aircon. Be aware they are closed between 13h00 and 15h00. Very hot in Equisheim and restaurant do not allow you to sit for drinks without eating lunch.
Review 34:Reception was friendly. Hotel is beautifully decorated and position is great on the square. Our room was big with lots of windows, corner unit looking out on the square.
Review 35:Not for families with babies or people who have difficulty walking. Lots of steep narrow stairs. Bed screeched horribly, could not sleep. Breakfast was mediocre at best.
Review 36:This hotel is a little tired and rough round the edges. The stairs up to the third floor were a little challenging with suitcases.
Review 37:Great central location and excellent value
Review 38:However,the noicy fan did not manage to cool down the room on the 2nd floor during a tropical summer night.
Review 39:Charming place. Perfect location in the centre of Riquewihr and very helpful and friendly staff.
Review 40:This hotel is in the heart of the most beautiful village in Alsace. Parking available on site which was a huge advantage. Breakfast was very nice and all the staff at the hotel were welcoming and friendly. The hotel had a lovely old world atmosphere. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 41:No wifi except at the reception. The fan they advertsed was a joke. Very basic facilities in the room.
Review 42:The location in the centre of the medieval village. Parking next to the hotel (at a charge).
Review 43:Fantastic location, we had 3 had 2 rooms, both had old character and were charming with modern bathrooms. Parking lot was convenient, next to hotel and the Staff was very welcoming.
Review 44:wonderful location, intersting traditional building, kind reception, very convienient car park and very good breakfast. We will be back in the future.
Review 45:Wu-Fi was spotty so if you needed it for business, I would recommended another means to be on the safe side. (The town and surrounding area are too beautiful to be on Wi-Fi anyway!) If you plan on going in the summer, there is no AC.
Review 46:Location is perfect for all other surrounding attractions in addition to Riquewihr.
Review 47:Not so much on the hotel but there isn't much to do in the town. The sidewalks roll up early and stores open late.
Review 48:Plenty of private parking in the back.
Review 49:Rooms as in annex two flights up.We are over seventy with bags.No shelf or place in bathroom to put kits, shaving equipment etc.
Review 50:Excellent location . Lots of charme.
Review 51:The only one thing was the stairs (castle like- round and many- not possible for wheelchair/old folks who don't like stairs. Other than that, nice rustic and inexpensive with WIFI, bath and close to all wine tastings!
Review 52:Good location in Riquewihr (use GPS to take you to the front door- lots of on site parking). Friendly staff and right in the middle of the main town. Good spot for breakfast- croissant/pain au chocolat just adjacent on the main street (50 meters)
Review 53:I think the Mattress in room 19 needs to replaced.
Review 54:The location is excellent, the Hotel is typical Old Alsatian building. Everything about the Hôtel De La Couronne and Riquewhir is great and I would highly recommend.
Review 55:We just loved Hotel de la Couronne. To start with, it is one of the few hotels in the middle of the town that has on-site parking. That's truly a benefit if you are driving and walking around the Route de Vin all day. The hotel itself was lovely and the staff was very friendly. The room was small and quaint like everything in the amazing little town of Riquewihr. The hotel breakfast was really too expensive, but there is a beautiful pastry/chocolatier shop almost across the street - so no problem getting breakfast.
Review 56:As like all the other old towns, it was hard to fine grocery to buy drinking water in the evening. I suggest if you want to stay in old town, prepare the drinking water if you don't want to pay 4.5 euro per 1 liter at the bar.
Review 57:Good Location, Parking was very good in the old town. The hotel is old buidling of 17C. It was funny sleep on sloped bed. We checked with the bottle rolled on the floor.
Review 58:Wi-fi did not work in rooms 21 & 22. pillows simply too hard! Maybe supply a choice?
Review 59:Room decoration, the old staircase and building, wonderful breakfast, nice people!
Review 60:Breakfast was overpriced; we only had it one day. Do NOT drink the tap water. We usually don't but there was no minibar... And we were thirsty! The tap water made us ill.
Review 61:The staff was friendly. The parking lot next door was convenient.
Review 62:The room was very cold when we arrived because the radiator was off, and it did not warm up sufficiently until the middle of the night. We went to bed with our socks on! There was no room to open our suitcases on the floor and no comfortable seating (2 hard chairs). The hotel is difficult to find in the dark, and I strongly recommend arriving in Riquewihr during daylight hours. It is in the old walled city, where driving is restricted, and it may be easier to park outside that area and find the hotel on foot. The hotel staff were helpful in providing instructions on how to drive into the walled area, and the hotel does have a parking lot adjacent to it. In spite of these difficulties, we enjoyed our visit and highly recommend staying in Riquewihr.
Review 63:This picturesque hotel is in the heart of the old walled and very scenic (medieval) village of Riquewihr. It is in an old but restored building that maintains the old beams and half-timbered walls and an old circular stairway to the second floor.Overall it gave us a feeling of being there in another century. The room furnishings were attractive, but the room was very small. The bathroom was well-lit and modern. We enjoyed a generous breakfast buffet in an attractively decorated breakfast room.
Review 64:Yes wifi is iffy and yes getting to parking is a bit tricky but one doesn't go to these places for WIFI and parking.
Review 65:Visited this hotel second time this year, location is excellent. Stayed during christmas market.
Review 66:Nice small hotel in the old town surrounded by picturesque houses, cafes, restaurants, shops. For one night - the most it. In the room there was a beautiful painted old wooden dresser. Modern comfortable bathroom. Clean, quiet and warm.
Review 67:Basic rooms, but clean and cheery.
Review 68:The small bar of the hotel for a friendly drink. Fantastic location right in the centre of Riquhwhir. Car Park. Friendly Staff.
Review 69:The stairs to the room were steep and everything was "old school" but we were prepared for that. WiFi did not work. Try to avoid obvious busy times as this place is popular and can be very crowded..
Review 70:The parking lot is tucked back behind the property and the hotel itself is smack in the middle of the old city. Have courage and drive through the stone arch and along the cobbled street. Magnificent old town with postcard views everywhere.
Review 71:We enjoyed everything. We are easy!
Review 72:What a great little picturesque town. This spot is so quaint, right in the middle of everything, so convenient to the route du vin. My sister and I loved that the vineyards grew right up to the edge of the town. Great location, very comfortable, large room and bathroom, very personable staff who spoke perfect English. I would highly recommend this town and hotel; I would stay here again, if in the area. We didn't eat here, but enjoyed drinks outside before dinner.
Review 73:we had booked at first for two nights... we ended up staying for five nights!!!!! lovely place, in an ancient traditional house with the most romantic rooms ever, super modern bathrooms (with great shower facilities!), private parking facilities, and cozy shared areas (bar space, tables, etc) available to guests. the rooms and the bathrooms and the whole hotel were very clean. most of all, the staff has been among the most helpful and kind ever, they really went a long way to help us, and every time they did that with professionality, courtesy, and a big smile!!!
Review 74:Steep stairway can be difficult for some people.
Review 75:Traditional room like a nice mountain cottage. Located at the center of the village. Spacious parking space next to the hotel.
Review 76:Too many tourists, breakfast not included in room price, town prices reflect tourist interest, went to Colmar instead for supper.
Review 77:Town and buildings, great breakfast
Review 78:we booked next day mistakenly but the hotel staff arranged the similar room at the same price without any cancellation charge. hotel is located nearby main street. parking lot is just 4EUR a day.
Review 79:The location is wonderful, right in the heart of the village. The room was simply furnish, but had charm. The staff were very helpful, & free wifi.
Review 80:Parking is next to the hotel but you should call before hand to get instructions on how to get in, it is forbidden to drive in there but no one seems to pay attention to the signs.

Review 105:Our double bed room was very small, and the view from the window was disappointing. Noisy until late at night.

Review 107:Very hot room, poor wifi
Review 108:Good location, nice room
Review 109:Great location
Review 110:The location is very nice and the rooms are very cozy
