Reviews for Alive Hotel De Quebec
Review 1:Breakfast was OK, but rather expensive I thought. No Tea.Coffee facilities in the room.
Review 2:Helpfulness of staff, let me practice my French but helped out in English when I got stuck. Secure car park, at an extra price, but worth it for the central location, close to cathedral and river.
Review 3:Bathroom didn't have a window or extractor fan so smelt of damp quite a lot.
Review 4:Good budget hotel by catherdral in Rouen. Very friendly helpful staff.
Review 5:Room was a - bit tight and the bathroom was small and shower was a little week - WiFi was OK at the reception - room smelled of cigarettes - electric points not convenient
Review 6:The location and the staff, and was clean.
Review 7:Excellent location and availability of its own parking place. Friendly and helpful staff. A bit tired with quite small rooms but a very good value for money if you want to spend just a couple of nights.
Review 8:Nothing
Review 9:The staff, who I assume were the owners were wonderful, friendly and helpful. Nothing was a problem. Parking was secure and safe, Location excellent for easy access to the city
Review 10:A bit tricky to find without sat-nav or a good map. Breakfast at 9 Euros too expensive, eat out.
Review 11:Very close to the lovely Old Town, on a quiet side street. Friendly helpful staff.
Review 12:Location is excellent - a few minutes from the cathedral, center of town, but also near a great choice of diverse restaurants (Afghan, Chilean, Indian, Chinese)
Review 13:Tired. Tiny bedroom and shower room, with very little privacy!! Sliding door or no door on toilet/shower room!! Comfy bed though. Memory foam.
Review 14:Free wi fi is great and the staff were excellent. Breakfast was good too. Adjoining room excellent for kids
Review 15:We had a room on the 3rd floor and there was no air conditioning. It was a hot day and very stuffy in the room at night
Review 16:Loved the location and hotel really well presented
Review 17:Very friendly and welcoming, gave advice about places to eat and suggested that we visit the cathedral for the light show, we would not have known about this otherwise and it was a highlight of our visit. The hotel is in an excellent location for central Rouen, though thank goodness for Sat Nav otherwise finding it would have been even harder. Comfortable for a short stay.
Review 18:The bathroom was one metre by two metres. You could sit on the loo, wash your hands in the sink, and feet in the shower all at the same time.
Review 19:Location with parking
Review 20:Na pokoji nebyly žádné informační tiskoviny, jen částečně vyřešeno mapkou města, kterou jsme dostali na recepci. Hlučný drtič u WC, upozornění je pouze ve francouzštině. Je přitom naprosto zásadní nevhazovat do mísy WC nic kromě toaletního papíru, protože hrozí zničení drtiče a následná úhrada v ceně 300 eur. Doporučujeme rezervovat parkování na dvoře hotelu, zaparkovat v blízkosti hotelu téměř nemožné.
Review 21:Všechny pamětihodnosti dostupné pěšky do 15 až 20 minut. Velmi ochotný a přátelský personál na recepci.
Review 22:Old and very small room. My husband could barely fit in the shower. Room had a bed, a very small table and a small tv. That's it. No coffee machine, no iron or ironing board, other than a small closet with 4 hangers, no other place to put your clothes. Our room smell like someone just had a smoke in it. I would not recommend this hotel.
Review 23:Location only
Review 24:The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful with dinner and sightseeing recommendations. The on-site parking for a very reasonable price of 9 euro/day was great. The rooms were very small but certainly accommodated our needs.
Review 25:The mattress was so hard we had to put a doona under the sheet in order to sleep. A kettle would have been great!
Review 26:The easy parking, friendly staff, fairly easy to locate with GPS and short walk to old town. Quiet at night.
Review 27:Standard room and bathroom is extremely small, almost inconvenient for a 1.85 m tall man. Walls are very thin, we've heard every sentence and other noises from surrounding rooms. We were not informed beforehand that the hotel has a limited number of parking spots (8) and there was no indication that advance booking is necessary. Fortunately our stay was on a bank holiday, otherwise we would had to pay the hourly fee for parking on the street. For a 1-night stay with the purpose of exploring the main sights it was OK but for a longer stay I would look for other options.
Review 28:Perfect location, very close to city center (Cathedral, shopping street, restaurants), helpful receptionist, wifi properly working
Review 29:The transparent door to shower and toilet meant no privacy ... Covering part of door with a thpe of sticky backed paper would solve the problem!
Review 30:The staff were very helpful and courteous. Very good buffet breakfast.
Review 31:Rooms are small.
Review 32:Good location (close to center and from motorway), parking is good; all staff are very helpful which made our stay much more comfortable!!
Review 33:Wifi is rather slow (seems that France in general doesn't have good wifi speed).
Review 34:Nice hotel near the city center. Clean and comfortable. Very nice staff.
Review 35:The door had a lock anno 1800 and would not stay closed if not lacked. The lift was ca .5 m2 big. Wenn we arrived the railing in the stairs was freshly painted, but no note about that. Result was lots of paint on our hands.
Review 36:Safe Parking Bathroom renovated, quite good. Breakfast was ok.
Review 37:The room was very tiny and different than the pictures of the website. They were doing works in the corridor and the room stinks of glue and painting.
Review 38:Location is good, close to the cathedral and the old town
Review 39:Not much, the décor was old-fashioned but it was clean. The only problem was noisy students queuing at the Afghan takeaway across the road late into the night. Problem partially solved by closing the window - wouldn't have been of much use in Summer!
Review 40:Great Place to leave the car and then use as a base to explore the city. Room a bit tight for space but otherwise OK, helpful and friendly staff who spoke good English.
Review 41:Tiny lift. The hotel rooms have been updated, but other areas are dated.
Review 42:Friendly helpful staff. Very good value for the money. Main attractions within walking distance.
Review 43:Rooms were not fit for purpose. Some litter had not been cleaned away. VERY small rooms. Bathrooms dreadful. Very hot. Family room had another double bed, not suitable for teenagers to share. Bathroom had no door or shower. Would not recommend.
Review 44:Very friendly, helpful staff on front desk. Excellent location with secure parking. Opportunity for early check in.
Review 45:no issues
Review 46:the lady on reception was very well presented/ and friendly and could not be be helpful offering a map of the city and help with chossing a good restaurant .we were even offered the choice of two rooms .i was very impressed with the experience please pass on my thanks
Review 47:Room was small and not very comfortable, bathroom has one of those horrible noise making toilets, the sliding door to bathroom does not really provide any privacy, parking involved moving hotel staff cars around to fit in/get out of a quite narrow parking space, the reccommended restaurant was nice but I have a niggling suspicion that we could've found something even better on our own
Review 48:Receptionist was incredibly friendly, we got all the information we could possibly want, parking was in the back yard
Review 49:Room #11 smelled musty and the shower had mildew. Had to sleep with the window open, lots of street noise on a Saturday night.
Review 50:The owners were very friendly and helpful.
Review 51:the usually small European bathrooms
Review 52:good location for walking around the tourist areas. Very friendly, helpful, personable staff-the family run hotel. Only 10 minute walk to free parking on the far bank of the Seine River
Review 53:Although the room and bath were small, they were quite functional. There was space for suitcases and the bath worked very well. The owner was delightful and very open to helping travelers out of their comfort zone. We would stay there again.
Review 54:No elevator.
Review 55:+ Comfortable rooms. + Very clean rooms. + Well located, very close to the center of the town. (3-5min) + Friendly staff. + You definitely need to book a parking space for your car in advance (at the hotel). Hardly any public parking spaces available.
Review 56:Lift, if you have bad knees or back, the lift has a very nasty jolt when it stops.
Review 57:Friendliness of staff, location for everything. Good value breakfast.
Review 58:Nothing for the money.
Review 59:Right in the centre of the city with secure parking. Easy to find with a satnav. Rooms basic but clean. Great for an overnight stay to explore the city.
Review 60:The rooms were very stinky. The quality of the showers and sinks were very poor. The beds were not comfortable at all. I stayed at hostels that were way better than this hotel. For the price of this hotel, you can find much better places in Rouen.
Review 61:Good location.
Review 62:There was a bad smell in the room. It was a mixture of a smell of dust and some kind of room spray, which was very disturbing.
Review 63:it is located in the center, which was very convenient. the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. they informed me about everything I needed even before I asked. They replied to emails very quickly. They are fluent in English.
Review 64:not many people know la rue de Quebec, so I had to ask many time to find the hotel as it's located in the small corner and not that close to the historic centre...
Review 65:nothing special
Review 66:Very warm welcome in English with good advice on what to do (fabulous son et lumiere at cathedral) and where to eat. Comfortable reception, relaxed atmosphere and very good value - a short stroll to city Centre
Review 67:- very small room and bathroom (but this wasn't a problem)
Review 68:- Good central location - Parked easily outside hotel (car park full) which was free between 6pm and 9am - Very clean and quiet - Reception staff very helpful
Review 69:Very small room; TINY lift (elevator); noisy street - inevitable, I suppose.
Review 70:Excellent location in Rouen - reserving the (gated/secure) parking is a really good idea!
Review 71:Non smoking room smelt of smoke.bathroom small and smelt musky.mould inside the shower.walls paper thin.kept awake 2am till 3.30 by people above talking and singing to the TV.Overall one of my worst experiences in a hotel.I suppose you get what you pay for!
Review 72:Excellent staff,friendly and helpfull.
Review 73:Room was very hot with no heating on and outside temperature was about 21. There was a parfum-thing in the room what made it worse than a parfume store. There where stings on the sheets and floor.
Review 74:Staff
Review 75:The tight quarters of the gated parking lot was very difficult. Would have been locked in except that I had a straight out the gate parking spot.
Review 76:I liked the fact that it was within walking distance from many of the tourist sites. Also near several eating places that were open on Sunday.
Review 77:Street noise at the front of the hotel could be quite intrusive, would not suit the early to bed light sleeper.
Review 78:Staff Comfort Centrality Secure parking Would happily book again.
Review 79:The bathroom was poor. The toilet made a huge noise when it flushed and the drains smelled a bit.
Review 80:Very close to the cathedral and the main tourist area. The manager was really helpful with advice of where to go and what to do.
Review 81:No air con-had to leave the window open and it was noisy during the night.
Review 82:an excellent central location-within walking distance of all the sites. booked a parking place- essential in Rouen. Very friendly and helpful staff. Free internet access
Review 83:We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The lady on reception was very polite and efficient and informed me of the car park which she had noted as per my booking request. The car park is outdoor within the hotel grounds and can be easily accessed by the main reception and to the lift. The hotel is a short walk away to the river and easy walk to the Cathedral and old city.Hotel is in a good location for shops, bars and restaurants. Breakfast was nice. I understand that this hotel is family owned and the owners and staff were very friendly and polite and made us feel welcome. We will definitely stay there again.
Review 84:Arrived at hotel to friendly owner was offered room upgrade at no extra charge. The room was very clean and tidy. After settling in was given excellent tourist information on local restaurants and sight seeing in historical part of town, inc light show on cathedral walls at 11.00 pm which was brilliant. Would certainly recommend this hotel as it is very clean and in the centre of town with secure parking.
Review 85:I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who is travelling with children or in need of a good nights sleep! The rooms we had were way too warm and even with the windows shut you could hear everything from the surrounding streets. We did not get a good nights rest during our 5 night stay there.
Review 86:The hotel staff were lovely! They were on hand when you needed anything! It is a great location for travellers without children as the area is busy with night life.
Review 87:Busy rather hectic road network getting into Rouen and to the hotel, alright once you got your bearings and understood the one way systems.
Review 88:Great central location that didn't cost the earth. On site secure parking, very friendly and helpful proprietor and staff. Location is within easy walking distance of the centre of Rouen, excellent comprehensive continental breakfast, comfortable and quiet room well furnished and maintained. Good value stay.

Review 103:Room very small and cramped. Parking was expensive, and away from the hotel
Review 104:Good position for seeing the sights of Rouen

Review 112:Good location, parking available - but very tight.
Review 113:Bathroom, all clean but very cramped and yet again no tea/coffee making facilities in the room.
