Reviews for Hotel Du Theatre
Review 1:The narrow winding stairs are not easy to manoeuvre suitcases up and down.
Review 2:Loved being in an old building with character & history in the centre of Tours. The staff were wonderful; friendly and helpful, they even took my suitcase up and down the stairs. Street parking is free from 6.30 pm and the hotel is close to the train station.
Review 3:The hotel is close to the bus and rail station, close to the old town and very close to the sights and restaurants and bars. Very happy with it. You get used to the stairs very quickly!
Review 4:An absolutely disaster, this room shouldn't actually be in the market for booking. Extremely loud by the cars on the street, tiny window, extremely hot (room under the roof) by reasonable temperatures outside, no possibility for ventilation, the fan provided for the night not sufficient and very loud, cleanliness disappointing. The hotel owner definitely not the most polite person to deal with.
Review 5:Just the location, nothing else
Review 6:Wifi needs to be faster.
Review 7:It was cozy, clean and perfect for visiting the sorrounding castles! They were so nice when I asked for converter and glass for wine!
Review 8:Hand held shower in bath Using public carpark, but location at 2 Rue Emile Zola was easy walk.
Review 9:Quick & easy check in Proximity to main street and old town square Big bathroom Nice old building with some character
Review 10:Children struggled to get wifi connection which would be a problem if you needed it. Also there were lots of steep stairs which could be a problem for some people getting in.
Review 11:Rooms and decor Comfy beds Nice breakfast Staff very friendly and helpful
Review 12:Room had a shower head at ankle level, but not shower curtain. No soap, no coffee/tea in the room, towels were not changed once during our stay, the breakfast 'buffet' was rationed to one croissant and a couple pieces of bread, wi-fi didn't work. Would not recommend that hotel.
Review 13:Location is pretty much the only thing going for this hotel
Review 14:The room was a bit dated. No shower in the bathroom, only bath with a shower hose which you had to hold. Very thin pillows, and the building is old so you could hear the creaking of other people moving around the hotel.
Review 15:Clean hotel in the centre of Tours between the Cathedral and the main tourist area and close to the river. The hotel was good value and the staff were friendly.
Review 16:We had a tiny room with a sloping bed - due to the floor slope I think. The room was pretty basic, but clean. To get to the lobby area you had to go up very narrow stairs which were picturesque but a pain with a suitcase. Then yet more stairs to the rooms. I think that for our room it was probably overpriced.
Review 17:The hotel location was pretty good and parking at an underground car park was within 300m. Within walking distance of the Cathedral and old quarter. The entrance and breakfast area were nice. A very good cafe on the corner 10m away which was great for breakfast, etc.
Review 18:The hotel is pretty tired: we rejected the two rooms at the rate we booked. One was right next to reception (15) and therefore noisy, the other was so small you couldn't get out of bed without hitting a beam (32). In the end we paid some more for a better room and were happy (25). Two stars is about right.
Review 19:The reception lady was very friendly and helpful. The place was quiet although the theatre is right across the street and I imagine it's a different situation when something is on.
Review 20:no tea/coffee making facilities no lift - very steep , narrow stairs phone didn't work
Review 21:close to city centre close to train station clean and comfortable pleasant staff
Review 22:The hotel had charm and quirkiness.I loved the theatrical silver and black with deep rasberry curtains in the renovated bedroom. Marilyn Australia.
Review 23:The staff was friendly and the location was great.
Review 24:Hotel in the city center with wery friendly staff, clean room etc. Not 5 star hotel. Would stay again
Review 25:no lift
Review 26:Excellent location, very nice hotel, spacious rooms
Review 27:beautifully renovated with old and new well blended.
Review 28:Value for money; 10 min. on walk to the old town; confortable bed and good wifi
Review 29:A bit noisy.
Review 30:Room with charm. Classic little city centre hotel.
Review 31:Helpful staff who were considerate Good location to train station and town
Review 32:Room was dark and gloomy with very poor lighting. Bed small and uncomfortable. No tea making facilities outside of reception hours.
Review 33:Location
Review 34:The stairs !!
Review 35:Location Price Cleanliness
Review 36:Clean & comfortable.
Review 37:Location and style
Review 38:15 euros to park in an underground car park per 24 hours. Parking is aproblem in Tours. Not the fault of the hotel of course.
Review 39:A one minute walk from here to the Opera House to see a good productionof Falstaff. Very central to all that Tours has to offer,
Review 40:Access in the city a bit tricky, some fifficulty to find a car space around the hotel.
Review 41:very old hotel, right in the heart of Tours old city . No lift, a steep narrow staircase, very small rooms. However: The whole full of charm and character giving a kind of family atmosphere. very clean beds. No fuss but the usual amenities/ facilities An exciting experience for once a while, but not necessary for every day . Friendly staff.. to be recommended . I agree with 8.0 rating. reasonnable price.
Review 42:Parking potentially difficult. We parked on street (lucky to find space). Underground parking said to be local. Old hotel, steep wooden staircase, worry about fire escape!
Review 43:Location - easy reach of old town and cathedral (opposite directions!). Good choice of restaurants close at hand Good breakfast; good room
Review 44:They insisted on changing the sheets and towels every day, which doesn't seem necessary
Review 45:The hotel is exceptionally well placed for visiting the town centre and very quiet
Review 46:Wireless does not work well.
Review 47:Staff is excelent, specially Corinne. Very well located. Good price. The building is very romantic made with wood structure - só beautiful!
Review 48:The staff members were lovely but all of them seem a bit distracted or that something important was going on elsewhere. I'm sure they didn't mean to come across that way though. They were all very polite and kind which was lovely.
Review 49:Location was great and the hotel is very authentic and lovely.
Review 50:Most of the bedrooms are at the top of the property, above the reception area on the first floor, with a very steep circular staircase - there is no lift - so it is fine as long as you don't have any mobility problems.
Review 51:The hotel is in an excellent location (in an old townhouse) in the historic town of Tours not far from the station and the cathedral (and some of the chateaux in the countryside). The bedroom accommodation is of a very good standard and they have interesting views of the rooftops of the old buildings Because it is in the old town it is also fairly quiet at night It is very suitable for people without their own transport The propietor and staff were very helpful and friendly
Review 52:We stayed here for 2 nights, but the room was not made! Our toilette rolls were not refilled, towels were not replaced, bed wasn't made, and bin wasn't empty. Reception was closed from midday till 16.00, and closed again in the early evening. There were other hotels cheaper in the same location but with this lack of standard service, it makes this hotel rather unpleasant to stay! It liked renting a self service apartment except paying hotel charge! Unhappy!
Review 53:I think 50 euros a night would have been a good price. The"going" rates in France seem to be a little steep.
Review 54:The location was excellent, the staff were considerate and helpful.
Review 55:room noisey from the street if you open the window for ventilation, a must in summer, breakfast poor for 8 euros, no parking, you have to tour the surrounding streets, no lift
Review 56:Location convenient for the old town and the Cathedral, room clean and comfortable
Review 57:The steps are steep and are very noisy. The Hotel is old and there is little sound proofing .... A great place to base to be up and out to explore not so good if you are thinking romantic weekends or long sleep in each morning ....
Review 58:Small and perfectly positioned. We had read the posts about small winding steps and they are correct, however we were forewarned and as such just had light overnight bags and so it was no problem. The morning breakfast was ideal for 8e and set us off for our days exploring ...The bed was comfortable and the room very clean.
Review 59:No AC, a bit cramped, no lift
Review 60:Location, staff and historic building
Review 61:Room had a view of interior rooftops.
Review 62:Room was clean and spacious. Staff went out of their way to get a working fan for my room!
Review 63:Wifi was hugely unreliable. Otherwise fine :)
Review 64:I liked the decor. It was very inviting.
Review 65:Twisting stairs and no lift.
Review 66:Good location and lovely staff. Close to bars and restaurants.
Review 67:The hotel is closed until 4:pm. Our room was not cleaned until 5:pm. We found a cockroach in the bed.
Review 68:central location decent breakfast

Review 75:Nothing
Review 76:Location, Style of accommodation, helpful staff, parking OK
Review 77:Stylish, characterful small hotel, very well positioned. Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely breakfast.
Review 78:It is a very basic hotel, not sound-proofed. No lift with skinny stairs, tough if you've got a medium sized bag.
Review 79:Narrow staircase and no elevator when you live on upper floor.
Review 80:Breakfast was a bit sparse for 8 euro
Review 81:Clean, friendly, cosy
Review 82:bed was to small for 2 people
Review 83:the free wifi
Review 84:The entrance looks a bit insalubrious and doesn't reflect the interior.
Review 85:My room was spotless.
