Reviews for La Truffe Noire
Review 1:Self service breakfast was average
Review 2:Great location being very close to the old town of Brive and local restaurants. Excellent restaurant which is open 7 days a week and bar. Staff very helpful and friendly. Comfortable room and free WiFi
Review 3:Decor of room not very cosy, very sparse and a bit cold feeling. Corridors really need redecorating. Downstairs toilets very modern - black and space age...not in keeping with the place.
Review 4:Staff and service excellent. Dinner and breakfast perfect. Room of a good size. Outdoor space lovely. Location in town convenient.
Review 5:The breakfast was very over priced.
Review 6:Lovely hotel in a very pretty town. Nice rooms with air conditioning (a must) The evening meal was exellent with friendly staff. Hotel has own car park at the side.
Review 7:The hotel is on a busy street avance the locals seem yo love to whizz their motor bikes along it - but the windows are pretty sound proof when closed properly. It was nice to have them open in the morning though. All in all ver bearable.
Review 8:Although staff did not speak much English they were very helpful and we were understood. The maitre'd in the restaurant spoke fluent English. The room included a small fridge which was great for some ham and cheese we picked up at market - and some cold water to refresh after our walks. The location of the hotel on the ring road around the old city was perfect. 300m walk to the Information Centre - definitely get a map of the old city from them - and the market which we enjoyed visiting during our stay. We walked everywhere through the old city and immediate surrounds and loved all the parks and wonderful old buildings. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel but had a wonderful dinner - set menu for 30 euro and the food was superb.
Review 9:I got out of the shower to find that there were no towels other than the small one next to the sink. Not wanting to wait, I dried myself with the small one ... OK, this was a problem that could happen anywhere, but when I reported the problem to the man at reception (so as not to be accused of stealing several towels) he immediately exclaimed that the problem was my fault because I should have checked and should have called reception (standing around wet and naked). This is no way to treat a customer ... not even an attempt at an apology! I have lived in France now for 14 years, but the French concept of service continues to astound me. ps - The wifi didn't work at all.
Review 10:Breakfast - good sausages and scrambled egg!
Review 11:Tired
Review 12:Location and excellent staff
Review 13:Great location within metres of the lovely old town of Brive. An excellent restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 14:There was nothing in the minibar other than mould.
Review 15:Staff were pleasant, location on edge of historic centre, free parking, large room and bathroom.
Review 16:Nothing
Review 17:Food and people
Review 18:Parking space not organized and not enough
Review 19:They went out of their way when we arrived late The restaurant was great
Review 20:Hotel had character Our room was large and overlooked the front garden. Very comfortable hotel. Brive is a lovely town
Review 21:The whole place would benefit from a facelift to maintain it's reputation and pricing at the higher end of Brive town centre hotels. Breakfast buffet was average, at best.
Review 22:good location in town centre, restaurant is worth a visit for dinner, but disappointing at breakfast
Review 23:The dingy corridor to the bedroom, only partly relieved when the motion activated lights came on. It seems to be fundamentally a business hotel and the facilities are geared towards this (spacious dining room, 24 hour bar, pleasant lounge). The prices are also geared to an expense account with an evening meal costing about twice that of a decent meal at a nearby brasserie. The breafast was also expensive for what you got.
Review 24:The look of the hotel, the wisteria that had just come into bloom, the look of the public rooms, the good quality bedroom. The location on the inner ring road was very convenient and the free parking (so long as there was space) was nice.
Review 25:Ideal stopping place on our trip between Zurich and the Basque Country. Very warm and efficient reception. Excellent and attentive service in restaurant. We appreciated the free parking and dog-friendliness. Good breakfast buffet well worth the extra charge.
Review 26:Rooms a little dated, but typically French of it genre.
Review 27:Pretty basic but good French 3 star. Friendly staff, good French restaurant (ie no burger and chips!).
Review 28:For those who prefer smoke-free: there is a clear smell of smoke, particularly in the hallways.
Review 29:Great hotel. Staff was very nice and helpful. Hotel has a great outdoor terrace where you can relax in the shade of the trees and have dinner served. Parking space on-site. Room was small but comfortable.
Review 30:Staff were excellent and very helpful. Breakfast was very good but hotel, although slightly upmarket, was a liitle expensive. Location howeverfor the city was ideal.
Review 31:communal hallways are in need of a spruce up otherwise pleasant rooms .
Review 32:Have stayed there 3 times and would return again if in the area.
Review 33:Pretty much everything.
Review 34:Very little. It is an example of the worst of French attitude tocustomers
Review 35:Available parking was a bit limited
Review 36:Large comfortable rooms Good restaurant
Review 37:The car park is small and was full. We had to worry about moving the car so others could get out.
Review 38:WIFI worked fine. Location.
Review 39:Great location, fair prices and great food - a good recipe for success.
