Reviews for Best Western Hotel Le Schoenenbourg
Review 1:The room, the breakfast, the staff The room was very big and beautiful, plenty of storage space, walk in shower. Buffet breakfast with plenty to eat, large selection of cheeses, fruit. Friendly staff
Review 2:Small TV with no HD channel, no cheese or ham selection in the breakfast ordered in the room, electrical kettle
Review 3:Nice friendly staff, top location and great view from 3rd floor room, good wifi signal, good bed, quiet, free parking, dog friendly.
Review 4:Great location within a few minutes walking distance to the main street in Riquewihr. Breakfast is outstanding. Staff very helpful and parking is free and on site. We had a wonderful stay for 3 nights.
Review 5:Wanted to rent a bike during our trip but this proved impossible. We went to the reception around 11 to rent a bike for half a day but were told that as we are checking out at 12 we could't rent it anymore (even offered them to leave our car or a sum of money for guarantee) Also no alternatives were offered.
Review 6:Great location and nice full breakfast (13 euros though)
Review 7:Stairs to the 3rd floor are narrow and winding. Would be almost impossible for anyone with a disability. Hazardous for small kids.
Review 8:Location is amazing and the staff are very welcoming.
Review 9:This was my third visit here. The best: 100 meters from the town, Gratis parking place, peaceful and very good hotel. All beautyful towns/Colmar,Ribeauville,Eguisheim,Kaysersberg,Selestat,Obernai/is nearby with car.
Review 10:If I had to make an improvement it would be to have a bar with a little more atmosphere. Without a restaurant this is purely a base.
Review 11:Amazing location; spacous rooms and very helpful staff.
Review 12:Shame that the hotel restaurant is closed now. However recommendations list is good. Offered the receptionist chance to get email...but not taken up ...pity.
Review 13:Quiet central location. Very good for a three star property. Will come again.
Review 14:Location right in town, easy and plentiful parking, easy to find, spotless large room and bath, view of vineyards out our back window, really helpful staff.
Review 15:Spiral stair case is as steep as they warned. Yellow crinkled glass in bed room made lovely view of vinyards behind difficult to see.
Review 16:Great breakfast good parking, helpful staff. Bike friendly too. Really super situation relative to town. Swimming pool right there but not warm enough to swim.
Review 17:The hotel needs more bigger rooms. We would have stayed longer if the suite was available. The hotel would also benefit from a restaurant particularly when a lot of the restaurant in Riquewihr offer only Alsation food.
Review 18:Choosing the comfort plus suite made a big difference to our enjoyment of the hotel. The breakfast was excellent (13 euros extra) . The swimming pool , still nice an warm even in September. But best of all was the position a short walk to the wonderful medieval village centre of Riquewihr(pronounced Ric Vere).
Review 19:Great location just outside the old village - only 100 metres or so to the Hotel de Ville, but the advantage is parking is easy and I suspect the hotel is more comfortable and spacious than those inside the village.
Review 20:AC that didn´t function; although it was very hot in the room. And in the reception they told us that it was not in because it was so cold on night. Extremly bad! It was at least 40 degrees C in the room we got first.
Review 21:Läget, omgivningarna
Review 22:Unfortunately the church bell goes off every 15 minutes 24 hrs a day and it will wake you up through the night. So if your sleep is important to you stay out of town!!
Review 23:Location,Parking spot on.
Review 24:There was nothing not too like it was excellent
Review 25:The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble they made it a memorable holiday thank you all so much
Review 26:The airconditioning was loud.
Review 27:Hotel has a great location to visit the historic centre of Riquewhir. The rooms are nicely styled and are very well accoustically isolated.
Review 28:Please have some clothes washing facilities. Perhaps even some washing machines that take coins and and ironing area.
Review 29:Very good stay with very helpful staff and good child facilities.
Review 30:Wish it had breakfast included.
Review 31:We had a cute modern room with bright turquoise lamps and one of two balconies facing the hillside of vineyards. I chose the word cute specifically because this room, though well organized and clean lined was Lilliputian in size and had no floor space or raised space for any type of open suitcases. There's a wardrobe but just plan on closing your suitcases every time you get something! I would happily stay here again I'm just suggesting that you pay attention to the sq footage and decide if you'd rather have your floor space in your room or on the balcony. The pool though a basic rectangle, was well appoints with small little "changing huts" to give a quaint appearance. I also loved the walk behind the hotel to the high hills that allow you to look across the hills of vineyards and take pictures facing the medieval town below surrounded by vineyards. Free parking and wifi.
Review 32:We liked the hotel, room and the friendliness of the staff. The location was perfect and it was great to have the use of the excellent pool. The breakfast was very good and it was lovely to sit outside on the terrace and look at the view. Everything was just right and we couldn't fault anything. We would definitely come again and recommend it to friends.
Review 33:Room advertised with air conditioning. This didn't work until the penultimate day of our stay. Which during a heat wave was not good. A modest reduction on the room rate would have been welcome to reflect the mis-selling.
Review 34:Nearly drove off without some wine we had bought. A very alert member of staff realised and caught us in time!
Review 35:Having to repeatedly log into the Wifi
Review 36:The location was excellent amongst vineyards and a short walk into the old town. Having aircon and a swimming pool during a heatwave was a real bonus.
Review 37:Nothing bad to say about this place they seem to be great hoteliers.
Review 38:What's not to like! Great situation we were made welcome when we stepped through the door and the service thereafter kept the same high standard.
Review 39:Breakfast is poor relative to Hotels in Germany. One has to cook eggs for himself a real nuisance. No vegetables (only Cheri tomatoes). Sausages lack simple Salami etc only Ham , in short had better breakfasts in many other Hotels.
Review 40:Location , Room , Staff excellent. Overall very positive experience despite shortcomings of breakfast.
Review 41:The express breakfast, at €13, consisted of coffee, juice and a dry croissant. Butter and jam were extra!
Review 42:Great location right outside Riquewihr town walls. Nice little bar and terrace. Swimming pool. Friendly, efficient staff. Friendly atmosphere.
Review 43:No evening meals, only snacks. Photos of swimming pool are misleading to say the least. I guess you pay for the location but it was not good value for the money - too expensive
Review 44:Ideally situated for Riquewihr, Very good breakfast although French coffee is awful
Review 45:Overall our stay at the hotel was excellent, a minor issue was with the AC , weather being good the AC was used and was on the noisy side.
Review 46:Our stay at the hotel was excellent, the staff were very friendly , the facilities were good and the breakfast choice was excellent. The location of the hotel could not be better.
Review 47:Perfectly placed just outside the gates of the beautiful medieval town of Riquewhir. The drive through the countryside and vineyards was beautiful when we arrived. Do look out for hotel sign posts as not that easy to find entrance with sat navs. We had a huge room -a suite - which was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. It was lovely to stroll into the old town in the evening (less than 5 mins!) And enjoy a good meal watching the world go by. It gets very busy by day with coach parties so is probably more pleasant in the evening. Breakfast was superb...plenty of choice which we enjoyed on the terrace and before we checked out at noon I enjoyed a swim in the lovely pool. Perfect!
Review 48:The aircon could not cope with the high temparatures making sleeping very uncomfortable.
Review 49:Lovley location very friendly staff excellent base for touring or just relaxing.
Review 50:Nothing.
Review 51:Very comfortable well maintained hotel with out door pool and on site parking. Polite, helpful and discreet staff. Excellent location, short walk to Riquewihr.
Review 52:Price a little, should be possible for 20 euro less per night.
Review 53:Large room with great balcony (including relax seats). Electrical bike rental, good beds.
Review 54:When travellin by both motor bike and car it's obviously necessary to use irons etc.on arrival. On this occasion we were provided with a ridiculous table top ironing board.this would be useless on an actual table top.on this occasion we had no table so had to resort to sitting on the floor trying to use this frustrating contraption. Older people would find this impossible.the room had a lovely view but was too small to be comfortable.also there is a glass sliding bathroom door which is apparently part of best western upgrades.it does not lock and needs to be re-considered frankly.
Review 55:The excellent staff. This is our third time staying in this hotel .the location is excellent
Review 56:Could change the older flat screen TV (no HD channel)
Review 57:Dog friendly hotel, great firendly staff, nice big room, good buffet breakfast, free wifi, free parking
Review 58:My wife and I have been staying at Best Western Hotel Le Schoenenbourg whenever we visited the region around Riquewihr, France, since 2012. It is a fine base for hiking through the vineyards, has immediate access to the town, has a swimming pool, is utterly reliable for comfort and courteous service, and has a gated parking lot.
Review 59:Breakfast much too expensive for what you got. The beds were really terrible!
Review 60:Staff friendly and efficient, with the exception of one lady at the front desk.
Review 61:Room was clean but in need of an update compared to other hotels we stayed in Europe.
Review 62:Great location and easy walk to the town centre. Beautiful view over the vineyards.
Review 63:The rain outside !
Review 64:Spacious top floor room with great views towards Colmar and Freiburg. Excellent breakfast and comfortable bar. Pleasant and helpful staff.
Review 65:Nothing to dislike.
Review 66:Clean modern comfortable hotel just a short walk from the town gate. A big advantage is that you can park at the hotel and don't have to fight your way through the tight streets of the town and then end up parking outside the walls anyway.
Review 67:Nothing. The decor could do with an update perhaps but its only cosmetic.
Review 68:The ample parking was fantastic and being easy walking distance into Riquewihr made this a perfect location. Quiet, comfortable and with great customer service.
Review 69:The hotel locates before a vineyard and very close to the lovely small town. You can just take a walk with pleasant and relax atmosphere and enjoy the outstanding white wines.
Review 70:the beds were 2 single beds put together which sometimes at night we got stuck in the gap between the beds, there was a smell of mold or something in the hall and room but when you open the window it goes away
Review 71:the location right near the most beautiful village of colmar the wifi signal was very strong and always working the big free parking coffee/tea facilities in the room the friendly and helpful staff who also speak english
Review 72:Our room didn't have air conditioning and I didn't think to ask(there was a fan) We ultimately didn't need air conditioning andleft the windows open But if it is a warm season, you should ask aboutair conditioning as some hotels in Europe do not have air conditioningin every room. Was not a problem for us at all... As we have been inEurope, but for some cultures they may expect it. So just something toconsider. Otherwise, pluses all the way
Review 73:Perfectly located, short walk to town Clean and modern rooms Quiet andno distractions with the windows wide open Friendly staff, very helpfulParking, convenient and no charge Restaurant referrals were great Veryattentive!
Review 75:Our room was a little on the small side, but that was our fault. Next time we will go for a slightly bigger room. No other dislikes.
Review 76:The hotel! The helpful staff. The pool. The location within a few yards of Riquewihr town. Lots of restaurants nearby. The beautiful surrounding area and wine routes. The peace and quiet
Review 77:Hard to use bottle opener in the room, in a wine growing region!? Had to ask reception to open our wine.
Review 78:Steps to Riquewihr. Clean, spacious and comfortable room. Excellent breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.
Review 79:The hotel knew it was my boyfriend's birthday and offered him a free drink in the bar. The breakfast buffet was a generous and delicious selection and was well worth the 12.50 euro. The hotel doesn't have the same charm as the old buildings in the center, but the rooms were very clean and much more spacious than those found inside the old town of Riquewihr. The outdoor pool looked very nice although due to the weather we did not use it.
Review 80:The hotel is marked 3 stars but it seems to be more. Rooms very clean and comfort. We liked the hotel very much. It is located in the heart of alsace wine route with good views, in the heart of Riquewihr old town. The staff is very nice and helpful. We will take this room next time we come to this region.
Review 81:What's not to like?
Review 82:Wonderful location. Been many times. La Grappe d'Or restaurant 5 minutes walk, excellent. Favourite stopping place when passing through the region.
Review 83:Breakfast is available only as a buffet at Euro 12 pp. That is Ok value if you need a lot at breakfast, but Euro 12 is a bit expensive if you just have a coffee and croissant.
Review 84:The hotel is in an excellent location within 5 minutes walk of the main area of the village of Riquewihr. Free parking is available right in front of the reception area. The staff during our 3 night stay were excellent; both friendly and helpful. (Especially Raphael in the bar...excellent service and great beer and wine advice!) Our room was on the 1st Floor (access by both lift and stairs). It was clean an comfortable and good value for the price we paid. Good Wifi service. Overall we were more than happy with our choice. It was also convenient to use as a base for exploring the other villages in this part of the Alsace; the Hotel had ample documentation and maps available on the area and the Alsace Wine Route.
Review 85:The room was comfortable and spacious and the whole place was very clean. I enjoyed the opportunity to use the swimming pool too. Great that there were plenty of parking spaces on site - made the difference at the end of a long drive to be able to park without hassle, fuss or charge.
Review 86:We were very disappointed with the breakfast - the selection of meats was too limited and they didn't offer any cooked ham/bacon or scrambled eggs.
Review 87:EVERYTHING. The view of the vinyard from the window, the cleanliness of the room and the location of the hotel was PERFECT!!! and the staff was more than helpful - very professional and very friendly.
Review 88:The hotel is clearly overpriced when compared to quainter quarters in the city center. It is a bit removed from the city center and the rooms are very small. If you don't care about the pool and free parking, stay somewhere more charming in the city center for less money.
Review 89:The hotel was standard fair - everything one would expect from a Best Western. It offered free parking and had a swimming pool, which were both pluses.
Review 90:Hotel location was perfect just outside the old town walls nestled against a vineyard. The outdoor pool was a bonus and so nice after a hot day touring the Alsace.
Review 91:we liked everything
Review 92:we liked the hotel very much it is in a great location making the tour in alsace wine route very very nice the staff is lovely and very helpful and we want to thank quien , mathias, anne and raphael breakfast is very tasty and we really enjoyed ouur stay very much we will recomend the hotel to all our friends
Review 93:Small room on the 2nd floor, can smell cigarette smoke from terrace in your bedroom when your window is open, and also the noise of people having breakfast on the terrace in the morning.
Review 94:Great location, great and lovely staff, great breakfast and bread.
Review 95:Nothing. Rooms slightly pricey but worth it to be in Riquewhir centre.
Review 96:This hotel is fabulous. Its right in the center, with no road noise at all. Hasca great outdoor swimming pool in the summer -just for hotel guests. Breakfast is really filling for the price and fresh. Lovely outdoor terrace for breakfast. The rooms are big, clean and comfortable. Nice in room tea tray provided. Great free baby kit provided - colourful cot, change mat, baby bath and bottle warmer. Beautiful views from rooms. Very friendly and competent staff. Large secure free onsite car park. Hotel is non-smoking.
Review 97:The hotel is of an excellent standard as you would expect from Best Western. The girl in reception was extremely pleasant and helpful. It is ideally located to visit the village, and also central to the Alsace wine route and therefore ideally suited to visiting all the other local villages. The swimming pool was lovely to cool off in at the end of a hot day.
Review 98:Breakfast is way to expensive for what it is. Not aloud to have a Kid sleeping with the patents in a double room.
Review 99:Location Just outside Riquewihr, which is a cute old town. The swimming pool.
Review 100:The "standard room" is actually substandard has no air condition and only a small fan is provided. The 16 sqm area advertised include in my opinion the bathroom, so really there is no room to place your luggage and move around without hitting something. I don't know how the comfort and premium rooms are - but I don't recommend staying at this hotel in a "standard room"
Review 101:Parking
Review 102:We arrived on one of hottest weekends of the summer, so the location of the hotel, just outside the city walls and slightly elevated, the outdoor pool, and the fact that we had opted to pay extra for an air-conditioned room, were all perfect. The position of the hotel also means that parking is easy and hassle-free (I pity anyone trying to take a car into the town of Riquewihr). Very good breakfast - and an excellent restaurat next door to the hotel.
Review 103:The location is right by this charming village. Friendly helpful staff. Comfortable room. Good breakfast - the best we experienced on this years 14 day tour!
Review 104:confort, situation , personnel aimable .
Review 105:Very convenient position.
Review 106:Everything was good. The hotel location, just outside of the Riquewihr walls, with guest parking, was quiet and perfect.
Review 107:Like staying in one of the in city hotels without the hassle of finding a parking place outside of the town.
Review 108:The front staff did not accept the best Best Western Reward cards as they did not know what to do with them.
Review 109:Location and paid breakfast.
Review 110:Not having time to enjoy our stay for longer.
Review 111:Loved the uniqueness and very friendly and welcoming experience we received.
Review 112:Excellent location, next to the old town, and easy to follow wine trail..
Review 113:Nice and cleen rooms. Very good location. Good breakfast. Large car parking.
Review 114:unfriendly reception staff
Review 115:wonderful breakfast
Review 116:Superb breakfast, nice and clean rooms, great location.
Review 117:well appointed room albeit quite small, good pool, excellent breakfast, excellent location
Review 118:The hotel is in a great location just outside the village. Free parking at the hotel.
Review 119:Difficult access to loft rooms. Expensive breakfast. Rock hard bed.
Review 120:Good location. Large room.
Review 121:Pricey for what they deliver.
Review 122:Clean, spacious rooms. Good a/c. Good location.
Review 123:Good quality , great location at a reasonable price
The Fine Print
