Reviews for Le Castillan

Review 4:Amazing property. Cycling paradise, amazing view!!!! Stephanie owner/front desk is amazing she speak some english and would find a way for you to understand, with a great smile on her face! Peaceful place
Review 5:Would be nice to have a pillow option of a slightly smaller pillow. Show was a bit small and the show head did not point downwards
Review 6:Breakfast was good. Hotel is very clean Good facilities if you want to bring you bicycles
Review 7:None
Review 8:My stay at the Le Castillan was in summer to enjoy the classic bike climb. The hotel was very nice and accommodating to my very late arrival (thank you for that). I would also recommend Cycle-Huez (very near by the Le Castillan) if you need a fine bicycle for the day.
Review 9:Quality of the beds only downside Quality of basement wellness centre a little dated.
Review 10:Location, staff, atmosphere, south facing balcony with decent view, good ski storage
Review 11:Bathroom and room are a bit old-fashioned, could use a face-lift.
Review 12:Location is close to the ski slopes. Rooms are small, but comfortable. Bathroom and room are clean and service is great. Free parking outside, breakfast was good and plenty.
Review 13:Very clean and well located hotel. Family run, and all the staff were very helpful and attentive. I couldn't fault it, and I always try! Very good.
Review 14:For a 3 star hotel, we found this to be everything we were looking for, very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable, clean accomodations. We particularly like the bar area.
Review 15:Nothing!
Review 16:We could find no faults with Le Castillan. The staff were exceptionally helpful, the room excellent value for money and the breakfast amazing. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 17:Nothing whatever, all good.
Review 18:This is a family run hotel and this sets it apart from others in the same location. I have stayed at several in alp d huez and this is by far the best, I have used it twice now and will always use it when I am in the village. The staff are without exception polite and helpful above and beyond what is expected.
Review 19:Nice atmosphere

Review 21:There was only 1 power socket in the room

Review 33:no sink in room of toilette lightning (not their fault)
Review 34:nice buffet breakfast and the view
Review 35:Was out of season (Summer) when we were there and the hotel was empty
Review 36:Nothing
Review 37:Amazing views, normal basic room as expected but perfectly adequate.
Review 38:Nothing. It was the nuts.
Review 39:I was at the Alpe to do some cycling and the gaff was ideal.
Review 40:Travelling with a baby lots of stairs found them to be very difficult to use with a pushchair.
Review 41:Great location. Very clean.
Review 42:A bit dusty carpet in the room
Review 43:Great staff that let us use the facilities after we had checked out
Review 44:Not suitable for disabled guests as reception on first floor with no lift (or at least not easily accessible).
Review 45:Very friendly family run hotel. Very short walk to and from ski slopes (not suitable for complete beginners) and less than 5 minute walk to centre. Good restaurant. South facing balconies are a delight if sunny - as is the bar terrace.
Review 46:Breakfast was excellent and perfect for the cyclist. Although evening restaurant was closed, staff recommended two close restaurants. Fabulous view from room. Parking was across road.
Review 47:Remember that you are in an isolated resort so prices are not cheap, but it was worth it
Review 48:Chalet style hotels are a given in the Alps. The hotel's public areas are clean and nicely decorated. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were Alpine style with very comfortable beds and modern bathrooms. Very clean. Great view from our 4th floor room. We had requested that our teenage childrens room be close to ours even though we had different tariff rooms, not a problem. Internet and TV were both good. We ventured to the gym, which had most things you need. Breakfast was buffet style, so copious and a good choice of food. The hotels position is in the main part of town, so good for restaurants and summer walking and activities for the kids - luge and zip wire etc. very pleased to see that the chair lift in town was free!
Review 49:The previous users of our room where clearly smokers as I could smell stale cigarettes when we first entered the room. But that smell left after a couple of days. Ideally rooms should be non-smoking.
Review 50:The views fom our suite window were breathtaking, the staff were friendlly and helpful, speaking excellent English (a bonus as my French is average to poor).
Review 51:It was all good!!
Review 52:This was the second time we stayed at the Castillan. My brother and I were in Alpes D'Huez for a mountain bike event. It's a fantastic hotel and the Castillan family are lovely. They really looked after us. The hotel is clean and tidy. It has a lovely terrace from the bar/restaurant. Breakfast is awesome. Can't recommend it enough.
Review 53:The uncordinated basicness of the room, but not a large problem. Lack of tea making facilities.
Review 54:The friendliness of the owner, his enthusiam for his job, the homliness feel of the hotel, the location, the restaurant. Cleanliness. Having a balcony facing the mountains. wifi
Review 55:I didn't realize that not many cyclists stay in Alpe d'Huez when they ascend the mountain. Most of them move on either back to the valley (Bourg d Oisans) or to another town. We had the afternoon with not much to do, but rode up beyond the resort to Lac Besson. Amazing view.
Review 56:Beautiful hotel with a great view. Very clean. Staff was accommodating and upgraded us to a room with a valley view for no extra charge.
Review 57:It's not the last word in luxury, but does not pretend to be
Review 58:Very helpful when we arrived late and helped us arrange dinner in the only place still open in town. Simple, large hotel - does what it says on the tin
Review 59:The hotel wasn't booked, but they still gave me a room without any view.
Review 60:The fact that even after check out they allowed us to use the showers in the gym area after our bike ride. This was great!
Review 61:A bit farther away then initially thought from main "drag" inthe town. ABout a 10-15 min uphill walk.
Review 62:Very nice family. Very responsive, clean, quiet. Nice breakfast
Review 63:Nothing really!
Review 64:Great Hotel - good set up for ski gear Shop underneath hotel - very helpful staff Reasonable location - end of season so the nearby ski slope was getting difficult to use Ate in hotel one night - food good and reasonably priced Balcony with south facing views
Review 65:We liked this hotel so much, and would return again without hesitation. We only had one evening meal at the hotel so cannot give a balanced judgment as to the quality of meals - however the menu looked good and was reasonably priced.
Review 66:The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel was very clean, well appointed and attactively decorated with restaurant and bar having beautiful views of the mountains. The room was attractively decorated, very clean, and housekeeping was excellent. The hotel was conveniently close to the lift for the ski slopes, also close to a supermarket, nightlife venues and restaurants, although the hotel had a very good restaurant with good selection for bufffet breakfast and varied menu for evening meals.
Review 67:The balcony which has terrific mountain views, needed a little attentionon the step. I was on the 4th floor & you could hear tiny steppingnoise from the top 5th floor. No worse than other hotel general noisethat you get.
Review 68:Hotel is located in quiet part of the mountain close to the touristoffice with it's own restaurant & include excellent buffetbreakfast. Also plenty more restaurants located within 20 mtrs &handy small deli supermarket. It has 3 easy optional way's to accessthe rond point of the mountain. Either circular bus outside the door, the gondola about 5 minute walk or ski & lift access across theroad. Handy coded ski/boot storage downstairs, with hire shop on thecorner entrance. The reception staff are friendly & helpful with anyinformation. They always greet you & assisted me booking my bus tripback to Grenoble & printed some documents all for free. It was sadto leave after 5 day'S.
Review 69:Very small towels as main towel for shower/bath Auto lights didn't come on until I walked half way down the corridor. Breakfast ran out of some things in the last 30 minutes
Review 70:Room was spacious, view excellent, room v clean, warm. Breakfast area light and excellent view
Review 71:Not a very large room but with a view anyway. Old fashioned furniture but in very good shape and confortable.
