Reviews for Hotel Rouen St-Sever
Review 1:Bathroom was not the best by some distance. Room was cold, heater not working very well. Parking was not amazing.
Review 2:Value for money, friendly staff, decent location.
Review 3:Rest room is really tiny. Showering water leaks to the floor if the curtain is not carefully aligned.
Review 4:Price for the location. Good breakfast (yogurt, bread, sausage, fruits, coffee, juice). Friendly front desk. Could be much better if having a pot to boil water for tea or coffee.
Review 5:Fairly small in particular the bathroom; didn't quite give the impression of a 3* hotel; but objectively there wasn't sth majorly wrong
Review 6:Central location with excellent parking (@ extra price)
Review 7:Not easy to find. You need to approach hotel from carpark yellow zone. Spent an hour trying to locate the entrance. Shower facilities are a little tired. Restaurant closed on friday night and only place to eat was a burger bar.
Review 8:Goodcustomer service. We had very noisy guests above us who shouted and banged and played music late into the night. After complaining, the staff were very apologetic and moved us to a very quiet room and gave us a free breakfast.
Review 9:its a very difficult place to find, as there is no adequate signage to take you to where it is. with it being on a pedestrian square, and having to park in an underground car park of a shopping centre, makes it difficult too.
Review 10:the people were pleasant
Review 11:Not very welcoming. Vending machine for drinks, would be nice to see and order at reception/bar with a friendly person.
Review 12:Clean & Tidy, well presented
Review 13:Mainly small things - no sink plug, hot water pressure very low. Breakfast a bit pricey.
Review 14:Staff very helpful and hotel is value for money. The facilities are functional and clean. The restaurant food was good and value for money (evening meal).
Review 15:The room desperately needed updating. The carpet was stained and dirty, the fittings in the bathroom were very old and broken, with cracked tiles, the bathroom window was broken and the toilet was stained.
Review 16:The staff were pleasant and helpful.
Review 17:Difficult to locate, but very good location once we found it. In walking distance of many bars and restaurants. Very friendly English speaking staff. Breakfast very good.
Review 18:Interior decor looking tired especailly bedroom and ensuite. No air conditioning, so, open windows meant noisy delivery lorries, but you adjust. Warning, if you have very young children, don't let them near window, as they open below average waist height and there is a narrow ledge which they could climb onto.
Review 19:Good location next to commercial centre for variety of places to eat, shop and groceries. Also, local market every Tuesday and Saturday. Inexpensive area if you are on a budget. Tram from Rouen station to commercial centre and Hotel only a few Euros. Hotel restaurant is good with service to match.
Review 20:No Tea/Coffee making facilities,no net curtain at window,no air-con in room,faulty shower attachment
Review 21:Secure car parking under hotel at €4.60 a day, location
Review 22:Parking is complicated with a long drive and is difficult to find as the the road sign for parking point down the wrong route.
Review 23:New and clean with a very nice room. En-suite was good.
Review 24:Nothing you get what you pay for,
Review 25:A previous reviewer explained how to enter the hotel area via the shopping centre which worked beautifully.free parking because we were there Saturday night and left Sunday whenthe barriers were open.Easyish walk to the town centre.Good value for money for a city break.the room is basic but what should you expect!!! Helpful staff. Would recommend
Review 26:The location of this hotel was terrible! ..difficult to find and awful area to stay in. Didnt feel safe walking out - would suggest anyone stay on the other side of the river near the cathedral as Rouen itself was lovely.
Review 27:The restaurant was closed and in the area were not other restaurants open at the evening. Even in the shopping mall were the restaurant open till 19.00. Just fastfood
Review 28:The value for money. The location and the parking site. Free at sunday leave!
Review 29:Towels were a bit whiffy but fresh ones were available from the maid.
Review 30:Friendly staff, decent breakfast, kids ate for free which was a bonus. Bed was very comfy. Very good value for money especially for a stop over which is what we used it for.
Review 31:thmiere was no air conditioning.our second stay the room temp.was mid 30"s
Review 32:underground car park with direct lift to reception.central location was very convenient.
Review 33:Our room was very small with a double bed with a basic foam matress, only one side of the bed had a cabinet and the tiny bathroom was in very poor condition
Review 34:Hotel looked great from out side and the reception and staff were great.
Review 35:A bit farther from the centre and attractions, but still manageable on foot.
Review 36:A nice big hotel, a bit farther from centre, within a shopping mall. Parking available in the mall garage for a great price of 4,5€ a day. Helpfull and very nice staff, very clean hotel with all you need basically.
Review 37:Location wasn't great, didnt feel that safe. Directions for parking were none existant. TIP: head for the saint server shopping center round the back of the hotel, go right to level -1 and then find parking area 16. There's a sign for the hotel there and they can buzz you in to the hotel.
Review 38:Cheap and cheerful, cheap parking- only €4.50 for our whole stay.
Review 39:We actually wanted to eat at the hotel originally but when we went to reception we were told that only groups or coach parties could eat there in the evenings even though we saw two separate small families seated in front of us. We did get directed to an excellent 100 meters away. The area is a bit dodgy after hours and may not suit timid people or those with families. We never had any problems but there was constant fighting outside by groups of homeless and loads of drunk and high people staggering about shouting late at night. If you're not bothered by this then don't worry, it's fine. We were also put on the very top floor where it was extremely hot with no air conditioning so the room was boiling at night.
Review 40:We liked that we could book it on the day last minute. The front of house staff were excellent and nice. The underground parking was useful. The restaurant "the chalet" in the shopping centre next door was fantastic food and great value for money.
Review 41:The bathroom was in need of refurbishment but it was functional and clean.
Review 42:The hotel offered exceptional value for money and is located near to the river and the old part of the city.
Review 43:Looking tired in parts - bathrooms in particular; but it's reflected in the price.
Review 44:Really pleasant helpful staff. Great restaurant and location is good for nearby shopping comfortable and quiet room
Review 45:Many 3 and even 4 start hotels in France do not have air-conditioning, which get's a bit sticky when it is 30C plus.
Review 46:Location near a church square, friendly atmosphere, shopping centre & grocery store just around the corner
Review 47:Shower not working properly. Flooded floor. Not enough towels. Poor facilities. Tiny room. Run down area with lots of very dubious characters hanging around. Poor quality breakfast - expensive for what you get. Parking miles away and no clear info about where to go.
Review 48:It was a last minute booking, so glad of a bed for the night. Bed linen very clean and had good night's sleep, but would not recommend for anything other than that.
Review 49:We stayed on a saturday evening whilst travelling from the south to the north of France. There was no food available in the hotel or in any of the nearby local restaurants until we found a chinese restaurant in the nearby mall which was fine - apparently we would have needed to travel to the other side of the river for food - this is not helpful and not stated on the hotel information.
Review 50:Parking was OK - room was small and hot but clean and adequate
Review 51:Nothing really it was great value
Review 52:Stayed on a cycle trip and they very kindly stored our. Bikes in the office for us .great staff location was very vibrant in the day but quiet at night . Not too far to walk across the river though and access tha bars and restaurants north of the river . Amazing city !
Review 53:Rooms are small, and there is only one hanging closet for 4 pieces off clothes that you can hang ,so you live out off your suitcase.
Review 54:Location,it's a 15 minute walk from the hotel to the tourist center. And the shopping mall next door make it easy for fast grosery.
Review 55:No option to make tea or coffee in the room.Shower was bunged up with limscale and came out in a trickle not a shower. Area is rather shabby with few facilities, no shops or restaurant choices in the surrounding streets, though there several restaurants in the St Sever shopping centre
Review 56:Very helpful staff - 24 hour reception. Most staff spoke good English. Secure parking a bonus, Clean rooms but very basic, small and with minimum facilities. Good free wifi access for up to three devices. Great for a stopover. Good access to city with tram and bus stops nearby. Huge shopping centre on the doorstep with restaurants, cinema, the biggest Leclerc I've ever seen. No options for food other than in the shopping centre really, no decent restaurants, mostly sandwich and fast food outlets. Hotel Restaurant was only open on one night out of the three that we were - and was not brilliant. It filled a hole but that was about it. No charge for the dog - very pet friendly.
Review 57:The hotel was grubby shower curtain hanging of rail no means of makinghot drink Extremely hard to find and people around area had never heardof it. Could not go out at night due to a high amount of homeless andimmigrant people begging and sleeping rough
Review 58:Not a lot
Review 59:Breakfast is very expensive. But the many sandwich bars and brasseries in the neighborhood offer a good alternative. WiFi is a bit slow and needs to be logged in every time you reconnect with the network after having been out of the hotel. In the evening the neighborhood looks a bit deserted and bleak.
Review 60:The hotel is a no frills hotel offering all the standard amenities. It is an easy 15 minute walk from the historic town centre of Rouen. Free parking in the streets nearby or in the covered carpark for a small fee. Shopping centre, with restaurants that are open until late, nearby for convenience. Lively neighborhood.
Review 61:Blankets on the bed! Give us a duvet! Unfortunately the restaurant was closed but we found a beautiful creperie down the road.
Review 62:We were looking for a basic hotel for the night whilst passing through Rouen heading southwards through France. Advertised as a business hotel, the Saint Sever provided just that - basic accommodation for a quick stop over. Really comfy bed, lovely shower (if not in a tiny shower room) and superb, friendly, English speaking (but not patronising) staff. Set within the shopping mall, the room was idueally located for us to have a brief scoot around the shops and grab a bite to eat before crashing. Highly recommended for a hasty stay.
Review 63:Bit awkward to get at as original street entrance is now an open air plaza, but walked to the check-in and the front desk gal explained the parking in the shopping mall next door and it was easy then with a hotel entrance from the mall garage. Pleasant room and good bathroom, minimal breakfast.
Review 64:No tea or coffee making facilities Small dark room Terrible view of concrete car park Corridors smell terrible No fridge Strange shower works off sink taps Paid parking, so couldnt come and go once in.
Review 65:Comfitable bed Friendly staff Next to shopping centre
Review 66:the shower was rubbish, rooms need a refurb.
Review 67:very cheap £ 36 ,good location in a queit part of town.you can park in secure parking in shopping center next door and the lift takes you to your floor in hotel.main town is about 15 min walk well worth a look round.
Review 68:Stayed at this hotel five times now and breakfast has never varied day to day. This is an issue when you stay for more than two or three days. My wife needs a gluten free diet and despite being pre-warned of this, they made no provision at all. Large coach parties can make breakfast a push.
Review 69:Great Location, very friendly and helpful staff, easy and secure parking, value for money. Generally clean. Plentiful breakfast but never varied.
Review 70:Located on the north side of the river, the hotel made for a bit of a walk at the end of the night.
Review 71:Low price, friendly and helpful staff. Definitely would recommend.
Review 72:Showers, unable to adjust angle. Seperate tap for shower from sink would be helpful as sharing room. Breakfast not good value for the money paid. stayed in a 3 star hotel night before staying here and the breakfast far exceeded St Sever and we paid less for it.
Review 73:Location and helpfulness of staff. Ease of parking. Rooms on the whole comfortable and clean. Evening meal very good.
Review 74:The room looked clean, sheets clean but bed cover had a blood stain...
Review 75:Good night sleep, quiet, room in front of a church and next to a shopping centre, and 10 min walk to the turist attractions. Hairdryer, tv, towels, soap and shampoo provided and free wifi. Hotel open 24h
Review 76:Horrible view of concrete roofs. No kettle or fridge in room. Very poor wifi connection in our room.
Review 77:Quiet, right next to shopping centre, good parking but not free. Staff speak excellent English. Comfotable kingsize bed.
Review 78:Pretty view of the church out of the windows was a pleasant surprise! Not a far walk from the city centre & cathedral. It was a quiet neighbourhood in August, with parking and cafes very convenient in the adjoining shopping mall.
Review 79:Room small A general look of neglect Strange smell in corridors We have stayed here before because of the parking but the hotel needs some work.
Review 80:Good for parking Easy to use the metro to get to the city
Review 81:Terrible WiFi connection. Didn't work in room and very slow in reception. Told by staff it was as good as it gets and to go to nearby McDonalds if I wanted a decent signal. Was less than impressed with this as if i'd wanted to stay at McDonald's I would have checked in there!!! How in this modern day can a hotel boast modern conference facilities with such a poor service?! Bar closed in evening and told restaurant was closed but when I returned in evening there were at least 30+ diners. Bar area deserted and lights off. Lift has mind of its own and takes you everywhere except where you need to be. I appreciate this is a cheapy hotel but come on at least be honest in your advert as there are plenty of other reasonably priced hotels in Rouen in a far better condition. I know as i've stayed in many of them. Very disappointed!!
Review 82:Pleasant staff
Review 83:No bar or restaurant on weekends, nowhere to sit outside, chairs padlocked to stop their use, poor instructions on where car park was.
Review 84:Friendly staff- tried to help but hands tied.
Review 85:no tea and coffee making facilities in room.
Review 86:Check in staff had fantastic English, really helpful, car parking was secure and undercover (accessible by lift directly to hotel)
Review 87:Rooms at the back on the first floor are effectively on the ground floor, so you cannot sleep with the window open. Tiny rooms with very basic facilities, but still fair for the price.
Review 88:The price - it was the cheapest but still acceptably clean hotel amongst over 30 that we went though this yr in france. Tiny but clean room, a buffet breakfast included cereals, meat and cheese, which was more than some 4 star hotels offered. Also late check in wasn't a problem, unlike in many other french rural hotels, ie 24 hr reception.
Review 89:The room smelled like feet, the light in the bathroom didn't work, the toilet was old and didn't seem very clean and the mattress was old too and quite uncomfortable.
Review 90:The location, 15 minutes walking from the town centre, a cheap parking just under the hotel and there were a lot of shops in the area where to find anything one may need.
Review 91:Had some problems logging into WiFi and we had to wait for reception staff to help us (they weren't there for a few minutes).
Review 92:Great location, close to amenities, and clean and comfortable.
Review 93:Probably due to lack of housekeeping staff, rooms were not made until about 16.30 hrs which if you came back early after a full day out wasn't very good. The hotel is popular with coach parties, staying just one night, so they do take priority
Review 94:The young girl who checked us in. Very helpful and the young man who mainly worked in the bar. Both were very good. Parking.
Review 95:No restaurant open, area round about hotel not the best just about all cafes and restaurants closed by 19.30 Soup kitchen and food bank distribution 50 metres from hotel front door. Not sure where it gets 3 stars. Secure parking publc car park for shopping centre.
Review 96:Helpful staff. Everything we needed nearby
Review 97:Great value for money, nice location, friendly staff.
Review 98:The staff were very helpful & friendly. We had a comfortable and clean room and the breakfast was great.
Review 99:the shower isn't very convenient
Review 100:The rooms were too small
Review 101:The staff was extremely nice.
Review 102:Very friendly staff
Review 103:The room was very small and the bathroom tiny.
Review 104:Location, and convenience.
Review 105:excellent value for money coupled with very friendly staff, especially the gentleman on reception.Happy contented customers
Review 106:A bit jaded
Review 107:Good location easy parking
Review 108:old furniture, needs refurbishment.
Review 109:the price
Review 110:rooms and bathrooms are too small. There's no place for the luggage.
Review 111:City center is reachable on foot.
Review 112:Bread
Review 113:Internet mostly slow or not working, no smoking rooms.
Review 114:The price...
Review 115:Location not the nicest and 10 and 9 year old had to have there own room. They were not connected and not next door to each other
Review 116:The price
Review 117:Right next door to a huge shopping centre with good Restaurants. Clean room and. Oxfords let bed.
Review 118:Bathroom, bed
Review 119:Position, only few minutes from the cathedral
Review 120:Basic, but excellent value - clean and comfortable. Exactly what we were looking for for a stopover.
Review 121:Fantastic location once you find the car park the town is easily accessible by foot.
Review 122:very old hotel in urgent need of refurbishment, very dirty and dated
Review 123:great staff, always ready to help
Review 124:Good location. Price isn't high.
Review 125:NOT THE BEST AREA TO BE IN BUT CLOSE TO GREAT AMENITIES AND METRO TO OLD ROUEN
Review 126:STAFF ARE SUPER FRIENDLY
Review 127:Great value for money, good parking and short walk to city centre.
Review 128:good value for money
Review 129:The hotel is situated in an area of Rouen that I felt uncomfortable to walk through at night.
